Digital advertising is increasingly embedded within contemporary human–computer interaction (HCI) environments, where advertisements function not only as persuasive messages but also as structural elements of digital interfaces. Despite the rapid growth of online advertising, research examining how interface design influences advertising effectiveness remains fragmented across HCI, communication science, and marketing. This study synthesizes interdisciplinary research on how HCI-related interface variables affect visual advertising attention, avoidance, and persuasion outcomes. A systematic literature review following the PRISMA 2020 framework was conducted using four major databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and the ACM Digital Library. The review covers peer-reviewed studies published between 2000 and 2025 that combine HCI methodologies—such as eye-tracking, usability evaluation, interaction logging, and user experience measurement—with advertising outcomes including attention, recall, persuasion, and avoidance. A total of 118 studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using narrative synthesis. The findings indicate that advertising effectiveness is strongly shaped by interface-level variables including visual complexity, animation, interactivity, aesthetic congruence, and user task context. Visual attention operates through a dual-pathway mechanism in which bottom-up visual salience interacts with top-down goal-directed browsing behavior, explaining phenomena such as banner blindness. The review highlights the need for stronger theoretical integration between HCI and communication-based persuasion frameworks.

This study aims to analyse the influence of Online Travel Agent (OTA) on room booking decisions at The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta. The background of this research departs from the increasing role of OTAs in the hospitality industry as one of the main channels of digital marketing that influences consumer behaviour in the booking process. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method on respondents who have booked rooms through OTA. OTA variables are measured through indicators of ease of access, promos or discounts, competitive prices, and customer reviews, which are assumed to influence interest, purchase decisions, and customer satisfaction. The results of simple linear regression analysis showed that OTA had a significant influence on room booking decisions, with a determination coefficient value (R²) of 56.8%. The hypothesis test (t-test) showed significant results (sig. 0.000 < 0.05), which confirmed a strong relationship between OTA use and increased room bookings. These findings highlight the importance of digital marketing communication for hotels in maximizing the potential of OTAs to increase room sales, strengthen competitiveness, and optimize the management of customer information and reviews to improve customer satisfaction. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of digital marketing communication theory, particularly in explaining how OTA platforms function as persuasive communication media that integrate information quality, promotional attractiveness, and electronic word-of-mouth in shaping consumer decision-making in the hospitality sector

This qualitative, descriptive, and library based study examines the distinctive indeed, eccentric combination of Purbaya’s communication and leadership styles. Through the lens of political communication theory, these styles function as critical assets for Purbaya in his role as Minister of Finance, enabling him to capture public affection and trust. The analysis reveals that Purbaya’s capacity to integrate a rhetorical, authentic, inspirational, optimistic, transformative, dialogic, direct (to the point), and risk-taking communication style with an empathetic, imaginative, situational, open, and down-to-earth leadership approach positions him as a ‘new hope’. His straightforward, transparent, and no-nonsense fusion of communication and leadership has rendered him a media darling and garnered widespread positive sentiment, as he effectively builds public trust through the resonant slogan: ‘We prosper together’. Purbaya’s charismatic, candid, and colloquial (cowboy) leadership communication has practically instilled hope, narrowed psychological distance, evoked public empathy, and displaced abstract, complex, and inaccessible economic jargon.

Background: Drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy (DR-TLE) is frequently accompanied by cognitive impairment and sleep disturbances, yet their interrelationship remains insufficiently characterized using objective sleep metrics. Disrupted slow-wave sleep, sleep fragmentation, interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs), and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may mechanistically contribute to memory and executive dysfunction beyond seizure burden alone. Objective: To evaluate the association between polysomnographically measured sleep abnormalities and domain-specific cognitive impairment in adults with DR-TLE. Methods: In this cross-sectional observational study, 124 adults with confirmed DR-TLE underwent overnight polysomnography and comprehensive neuropsychological assessment. Primary exposures included slow-wave sleep (N3%), sleep efficiency, arousal index, NREM IED frequency, and OSA (AHI ≥15). Outcomes were standardized z-scores across memory, executive, processing speed, and working memory domains. Multivariable linear and logistic regression models adjusted for age, education, epilepsy duration, seizure frequency, depressive symptoms, and antiseizure medication burden. Results: Mean N3 sleep was reduced (12.6% ± 5.3), and 29.8% had moderate–severe OSA. Verbal memory (mean z −1.28) and executive function (−1.12) were most impaired. Reduced N3 independently predicted poorer verbal memory (β = 0.32, p = 0.001) and increased odds of multidomain impairment per 5% decrement (OR 1.67, 95% CI 1.21–2.31). Higher NREM IED frequency was associated with executive dysfunction (β = −0.29, p = 0.002), and OSA doubled odds of multidomain impairment (OR 2.41, 95% CI 1.08–5.39). Conclusion: Objective sleep abnormalities, particularly reduced slow-wave sleep, elevated nocturnal IEDs, and OSA, are independently associated with cognitive impairment in DR-TLE, underscoring the need for integrated sleep evaluation in comprehensive epilepsy care.

This study aims to analyze the waste management communication strategy by the Ambon City government using the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) and the Social Construction Theory. This research employed a qualitative case study approach in the riverbank areas of Way Batu Merah and Way Ruhu Galala. The results show that the behavior of disposing waste into the river is a long-standing social construction reinforced by weak infrastructure and public communication. The government’s communication strategy still relies heavily on bolstering and diminishing approaches, while rebuilding and attenuating are not yet optimal. The study recommends integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to understand community behavioral tendencies better and to develop culturally rooted public communication strategies.

Social media, particularly Instagram, has evolved into a strategic digital public space for social advocacy and the formation of critical awareness regarding gender equality. Amidst these dynamics, single mothers have emerged as social actors who not only face the structural burdens of patriarchy but also actively produce alternative narratives about women, family, and gender justice. This article aims to analyze the role of single mothers in promoting gender equality through women's communities on Instagram using a text analysis approach. This study integrates critical discourse analysis, visual representation, and audience interaction analysis of Instagram content produced by the single mother community. Theoretically, this research is grounded in Uses and Gratifications Theory, representation theory, digital feminism, and virtual community theory. The results of the literature review indicate that although studies on gender and Instagram have developed significantly, research specifically positioning single mothers as agents of gender equality advocacy is still limited. This article offers an integrative conceptual model that explains how single mothers' digital narratives contribute to the formation of public awareness and attitudes regarding gender equality. These findings are expected to enrich the academic discourse on communication, gender, and digital media and serve as a reference for further empirically based research.

This study examines the construction of the concept of bid‘ah in the manuscript al-Ibānah fī Tārīkh al-Sunnah by Habib Salim bin Jindan as a response to traditionalist and reformist debates in early twentieth-century Indonesia. Its aim is to trace how Habib Salim’s eclectic perspective emerged through the interplay of hadith authority, Ba‘Alawi genealogical tradition, and engagement with Islamic reformist discourse. The primary data are drawn from al-Ibānah, particularly sections addressing the definition of bid‘ah, additions to prescribed religious practices, and ritual examples such as bodily movements during dhikr, ḥaul commemorations, and non-canonical prayers (Raghā’ib and ʿĀshūrā’). The study employs philological methods to examine the structure and textual presentation of the manuscript, alongside a socio-intellectual historical approach to contextualize al-Ibānah within the development of Indonesian Islamic thought. The analysis reveals that the manuscript advances a framework of bid‘ah that does not fully align with either traditionalist or reformist paradigms. Habib Salim challenges claims from both camps through more flexible classifications and hadith-based argumentation. The findings revise prevailing understandings of Hadrami scholars, who have often been positioned dichotomously in historical narratives. The article’s contribution lies in its reading of religious manuscripts as sources of discourse, its explanation of the intellectual authority of Hadrami sayyids, and its reframing of the dynamics of religious critique within the intellectual history of Indonesian Islam.

This policy paper critically examines the legal dilemma arising from the presidential rehabilitation granted to former PT ASDP Director Ira Puspadewi, a convicted corruption defendant, which epitomizes the profound tension between the positivist principle of final court decisions as pillars of legal certainty and the realist intervention of executive prerogative to achieve substantive justice. Employing a normative-juridical methodology analyzed through the dual lenses of Legal Positivism and Legal Realism, the study dissects this conflict between law as codified rule and law as a social instrument. The findings reveal that while procedurally anchored in Article 14 of the 1945 Constitution, the act creates systemic inconsistency in anti-corruption enforcement and dangerously blurs the line between criminal misconduct and permissible business judgment risk within State-Owned Enterprises. Consequently, it is concluded that such ad-hoc resolutions undermine long-term legal predictability. To resolve this, a triad of integrated policy reforms is recommended: the urgent codification and limitation of the presidential rehabilitation prerogative through specific legislation, the explicit integration of the Business Judgment Rule doctrine into the SOE and anti-corruption legal framework to shield good-faith corporate decisions, and the establishment of a transparent mechanism, potentially under the Supreme Court, to publish binding and accountable considerations for any prerogative use, thereby ensuring future actions are both just and systematically consistent.
