Anatomical segmentectomy has been established as a valid surgical option for early-stage lung cancer. However, this procedure could be technically demanding due to the anatomical variability of segmental bronchovascular structures. Misinterpretation of segmental anatomy could result in numerous postoperative complications. The routine use of three-dimensional reconstruction and preoperative planning is recommended to overcome this problem. We present a surgical case of a successfully conducted minimally invasive segmentectomy by utilizing three-dimensional reconstruction and preoperative planning.

Language learning is closely intertwined with human interaction and the identity shaping process. By nature, the ecological approach to language learning conceptualizes language not as an isolated system, but as an interactive and adaptive component of a greater system. This article examines the integration of the ecological paradigm into language education, focusing on the role of ecological, pedagogical, and individual factors that influence learners in the language environment. The focus of the article is on the linguistic adaptation of newcomers to new language and educational ecosystems, in the context of the Latvian school system after the geopolitical shifts of 2022 (the Russian invasion of Ukraine). The results of the theoretical and empirical analysis highlight the importance of localized, adaptive teaching methods that take the individual needs and previous experiences of learners into account to create the conditions for comfortable language integration. Going beyond rigid curricular approaches, the ecological perspective offers a basis for promoting sustainable and inclusive language education. The aim of this study is to explore how the ecological approach to language learning can be effectively applied to support the linguistic integration of newcomer students—particularly Ukrainian children—within the Latvian educational system.

It is shown here that the well-known thermodynamic relation which stems from the triple product rule is not valid for descriptions of the compression and stretching of almost all materials.

Zināšanas par latviešu valodas izloksnēm nebūtu pilnīgas, ja dotumu vākšanā, aprakstīšanā un izpētē nepiedalītos gan pētnieki, gan pētniecībā ieinteresēti cilvēki. To 20. gs. 20.–30. gados darījuši arī Latvijas Universitātes studenti. Baltu filoloģijas nodaļas studentes Emmas Valteres (1902–1987) studiju darbs „Pērkones izloksne“ LU Bibliotēkas krātuvē datēts ar 1935. gadu un ir pirmais Pērkones izloksnes apraksts, kas kārtots noteiktā sistēmā un balstās vienīgi autentiskā pašas autores vākumā 20. gs. 30. gadu vidū. 1938. gadā gandrīz pilnā apjomā apraksts publicēts „Filologu biedrības rakstu“ XVIII sējumā. Rakstā noskaidrotas abu tekstu satura atšķirības, kas var ietekmēt pētniekiem pieejamo informāciju un zināšanas par Pērkones izloksnes iezīmēm. Analizēts E. Valteres vākuma iekļāvums EH I–II, Lejaskurzemes izlokšņu leksikas kontekstā padziļināti pētīti FBR publikācijā neiekļautie 30 manuskripta apvidvārdi, lai atklātu leksēmu un to variantu izplatību Pērkones kaimiņizloksnēs – Bārtā, Grobiņā, Nīcā, Rucavā un citur Lejaskurzemē. Secināts, ka E. Valteres fiksētais Pērkones izloksnes vārdu krājums lielākoties reģistrēts Dienvidrietumkurzemē (bruzdināt, dzērsis, kavāt u. c.), bet daļa – arī plašāk Latvijā (gāza, juoma, ķienis). Daļa leksēmu reģistrēta jau 17. gs. vārdnīcās (āzbari, ģuldis, panti, pūne), daļa nostiprinājusies arī latviešu literārajā valodā (ģelzis, krants, nelaiks, pūne). E. Valteres manuskripta un tā publikācijas analīze apliecina studentu darba nozīmi izlokšņu dokumentēšanā, kā arī atklāj pirmavotu vērtību lingvistiskajos pētījumos.

Recent research in the area of physical literacy has revealed that the early years are a period that has not been well studied. Our research team designed a deductive review with the aim of investigating how preschool children’s physical literacy manifests across affective, physical, cognitive and social domains. The review includes scientific publications from the last four years, which investigate the elements of physical literacy in preschool children: motivation, confidence, motor competence, knowledge, understanding and use of physical activity. The characteristics of the elements were systematised into four domains, affective, physical, cognitive and social, as engagement in physical activities. Results. The majority of the articles explained physical literacy behaviours in 4- to 5-year-old children. The physical domain was most frequently described, mainly including the three basic motor skills of postural stability, object control, and locomotion, as well as physical qualities of movement. The second most frequently described domain was the social domain of the application of physical activities in preschool stages, including the types and amounts of physical activity used in both organised and leisure time. Conclusions. Physical literacy of preschool children is a purposefully organised and guided process, during which a child is given the opportunity to try and apply age-appropriate movement skills, without being limited by the child’s gender, parental attitudes, sporting choices, or the traditions of sport culture.

Abstract This paper presents a distortion compensation algorithm for multi-camera systems that does not require specialized calibration targets. A review of classical distortion models as well as modern calibration approaches (such as OpenCV) is provided. A modification of the distortion compensation algorithm is proposed, and an experimental comparison with the classical Brown–Conrady model is conducted using data from cameras equipped with the Sony IMX462 sensor. The results show that the proposed algorithm achieves projection rectification comparable to target-based calibration while preserving a wide field of view. This opens up opportunities for applying the method in wearable monitoring systems, panoramic image creation, and pipeline inspection, where the use of calibration targets is challenging.

Rīgas Politehnikumā (RP) tā pastāvēšanas pirmajās desmitgadēs strādāja daudz ārzemnieku, viņu vidū arī viens no starptautiski atpazīstamākajiem docētājiem un zinātniekiem ģeodēzists un hidrotehniķis Heinrihs Malhers (Heinrich Malcher; 1848–1927), kurš turpināja strādāt arī pēc augstskolas reorganizācijas par Rīgas Politehnisko institūtu (RPI; 1896). 20 gadu profesors bija RP / RPI Inženieru nodaļas vadītājs (1882–1902). Līdzās pedagoģiskajam darbam H. Malhers izprojektēja ūdensvadu Jelgavai (1881), vadīja Rīgas pilsētas pirmā triangulācijas tīkla izveidi, nodarbojās ar pilsētas notekūdeņu novadīšanas jautājumiem, darbojās Rīgas Tehniskajā biedrībā. Mūža nogalē viņš dzīvoja Čehijā, Kujavī ciematā, kur izveidoja pirmo ūdens sadales sistēmu un strādāja par celtniecības konsultantu un inspektoru.
