Psychometrics of BE-PSD-V2.0 and its correspondence with PANSS and CGI-S.
We aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the second version of the Brief Evaluation of Psychosis Symptom Domains (BE-PSD-V2.0) and its correspondence with the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Clinical Global Impression-Severity scale (CGI-S) scores. This cross-sectional study was conducted at 18 institutes in Japan. We performed correlational analyses to test the convergent and divergent validity of the BE-PSD-V2.0. Inter-rater reliability was assessed using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). The equipercentile equating method was employed to examine the linking of the BE-PSD-V2.0 with the PANSS and the CGI-S. A total of 353 patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders were included. Spearman's rank correlation coefficients between the BE-PSD-V2.0 item scores and their corresponding PANSS factor scores ranged from 0.64 to 0.86, indicating sufficient convergent validity. These specific correlation coefficients were consistently the highest among all item-to-factor comparisons, indicating sufficient divergent validity. In 34 patients, ICCs for the BE-PSD-V2.0 itemand total scores ranged from 0.60 to 0.94, showing sufficient inter-rater reliability. Conversion tables were established between the BE-PSD-V2.0 total score and the PANSS total score, between the BE-PSD-V2.0 total score and the CGI-S score, and between the BE-PSD-V2.0 item scores and their corresponding PANSS factor scores. A correspondence between symptomatic remission criteria using the PANSS and BE-PSD-V2.0 was confirmed. The BE-PSD-V2.0 possesses sufficient psychometric properties and corresponds to the PANSS and CGI-S. It is a sound and reliable brief rating scale for assessing symptoms in schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and its established conversion correspondences facilitate score interpretation within existing clinical paradigms for both clinical practice and research.

This study examines the potential contribution of Solar Electric Vehicles (SEVs) and Vehicle-Integrated Photovoltaics (VIPV) to disaster-related energy resilience through a probabilistic modeling framework. While previous research has highlighted the technical feasibility of EV-based support for microgrids and emergency facilities, it has paid limited attention to the behavioral uncertainty surrounding voluntary energy sharing by EV owners. To address this gap, we develop a Monte Carlo simulation model that integrates technical constraints, solar-generation variability, and heterogeneous participation probabilities to evaluate whether SEVs can sustain essential loads during prolonged outages. The analysis focuses on a worst-case scenario in which external lifelines are disrupted for seven days. Results indicate that approximately 450–1000 SEVs within a 5 km radius are required to maintain a continuous power supply, with BEVs requiring roughly twice as many units due to the absence of onboard PV generation. The findings highlight the sensitivity of resilience outcomes to user behavior and spatial vehicle distribution, underscoring the need for incentive mechanisms to encourage participation. Key limitations include simplified behavioral assumptions, region-specific irradiance conditions, and the exclusion of mobility constraints. Overall, the study provides a quantitative foundation for integrating SEVs into resilience planning while emphasizing the importance of social dynamics in determining real-world feasibility.

BackgroundCoronary artery dissection during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) may lead to haemodynamic collapse. Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-guided tip detection-antegrade dissection re-entry (TD-ADR) may serve as a bailout strategy. We describe a unique case in which IVUS-guided TD-ADR successfully achieved true lumen re-entry after severe coronary artery dissection.Case summaryA 64-year-old woman who had received long-term immunosuppressive therapy for rheumatoid arthritis was admitted for unstable angina. Subsequent evaluation revealed severe multivessel disease, and the patient underwent PCI of the left anterior descending artery (LAD). During the procedure, the patient experienced cardiac arrest, likely due to worsening global myocardial ischaemia, and required venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support. IVUS demonstrated subintimal wire tracking with true lumen collapse. IVUS-guided TD-ADR using a high-penetration chronic total occlusion wire supported by a microcatheter enabled precise re-entry into the true lumen and successful LAD revascularization. Severe left circumflex artery stenoses were also considered to perpetuate myocardial ischaemia and haemodynamic instability, necessitating rescue PCI for haemodynamic stabilization. In addition, major bleeding complications due to guidewire-induced perforation of the right subclavian artery branch were managed using stenting and coil embolization. The patient showed recovery of left ventricular function and was discharged in stable condition. During the 8-month follow-up after discharge, the patient was free of adverse events.DiscussionThis case highlights the feasibility of IVUS-guided TD-ADR as a bailout technique for coronary artery dissection during complex PCI. By enabling accurate true lumen re-entry, this approach facilitates timely revascularization and contributes to haemodynamic stabilization and recovery in a life-threatening setting.

Swaying Information About Care: Information-Sharing Challenges in Transitional Care of Older Adults in Japan.
Despite the growing importance of long-term care due to an aging global population, few studies have addressed information-sharing challenges in the transition of older adults between hospitals and care facilities. To address these challenges, we conducted a mixed-methods study involving staff from both facilities in Japan. Three investigations were undertaken to identify the challenges of information sharing, revealing the absence of appropriate sharing methods, the failure to share information beyond current medical information, and the need to share certain information orally. Moreover, because of their different natures and roles, hospitals and care facilities consider other types of information important. These findings will contribute to research on aging issues and support for older adults, as a lesson learned from the most aging society.
