This essay argues that contemporary economics is constrained by a theoretical framework that systematically obscures dynamic, interdependent, and long-run processes. Central to this limitation is the neglect of planning horizons—the bounded, evolving scope of agents’ foresight and knowledge—which are implicitly treated as fixed in neoclassical theory. By assuming ubiquitous substitution, decreasing returns, and equilibrium determinacy, mainstream economics misrepresents the fundamentally complementary, path-dependent, and organizational nature of economic activity. Revisiting long-standing debates over increasing returns, uncertainty, interdependence, and knowledge, the paper critiques key orthodox assumptions, including the methodological defense of unrealistic premises and the evasion of time, learning, and institutional structure. It proposes a horizonal framework in which planning horizons shape prices, incentives, organizational forms, and the balance between competition and cooperation. In this view, horizon effects are socially contagious, altering economic relations from conflict toward complementarity as foresight expands. The essay concludes that many persistent economic, educational, and institutional failures stem from applying competitive models to inherently complementary systems. A reorientation toward horizonal economics is therefore essential for understanding growth, coordination, learning, and social welfare in complex, evolving economies.

Abstract The study of Middle Eastern manuscripts requires an understanding of provenance, materials, and techniques, as well as the history and philosophies of the Middle East. The removal of many manuscripts from their context, along with transcription errors and language differences, creates barriers to understanding the origins and significance of traded manuscripts. This paper examines the methods for contextualising and attributing provenance to a copy of Silsilat al-Zahab by Nūr al-Dīn ʿAbd-al-Raḥmān Jāmī (1414–1492) from The University of Melbourne Library collection. While the library catalogue estimates the manuscript’s publication date between 1800 and 1899, an analysis of the colophon, marginalia, and ownership notes suggests a possible publication date of 1751, when it was part of the Indian Mughal library during the reign of Aḥmad Shāh Bahādur. This book entered the English book market before moving to its current location. Examining textual marginalia and linking this to provenance and the trade in manuscripts expands knowledge of this volume and provides perspectives for those interested in tracing manuscripts and recording their transmissions.

Purpose This paper examines the complex relationship between environmental protection and economic growth in Southeast Asia, focusing on the region’s efforts at balancing rapid development with environmental sustainability. It analyzes current challenges, emerging trends and potential solutions for achieving sustainable development while maintaining economic growth. Design/methodology/approach The study employs a comprehensive literature review methodology, analyzing academic sources, government reports and international organization publications from 1998 to 2025. It combines qualitative analysis of policy frameworks and case studies with quantitative assessment of environmental impacts and economic costs. The research framework integrates multiple perspectives on environmental governance, technological innovation and sustainable development. Findings The analysis reveals that Southeast Asia contributes approximately 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions, with energy-related emissions projected to rise by 34–147% between 2017 and 2040. Environmental degradation costs the region 1–9% of their GDP. However, promising developments include increasing renewable energy adoption (projected 35% solar photovoltaic technology by 2025), improved sustainability reporting frameworks and innovative financial instruments. The study identifies key challenges in institutional capacity, policy implementation and resource management while highlighting successful initiatives in countries like Singapore and Vietnam. Originality/value This article brings together important historical events, present problems and expected future changes in Southeast Asian economic growth and environmental protection. By linking environmental governance, technological progress and economic growth, it gives lawmakers, companies and academics useful ideas and analysis. The study is especially helpful for figuring out how emerging countries can deal with environmental problems and still grow in a way that does not harm the environment.

From the perspective of the methodological approach of meta-anthropology and metaanthropology of charisma, the massification, virtualization and media presence of human charisma in social media are analyzed. It is noted that the most common in the space of social media are the existential-corporeal and existentialpersonal charisma of a man, which are often objectified by him and act only as an imitation of charisma. It is realized that the massification of a person’s charisma occurs by lowering the criteria of charisma and averaging personality in social media, as well as communicative manipulation. It is noted that the virtualization of a person’s life precedes the virtualization of his charisma, which is especially noticeable in the space of social media. It is proven that the acquisition of personal integrity and existential-communicative charisma takes man out of the closed circle of manipulation and imitation, and also overcomes the contradiction of virtual and real charisma.

Tintinabuli А.
