The research presented in this paper was carried out using the example of selecting applications for smart farm management, specifically focusing on the Farmland company. To facilitate this selection process, Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods were employed, including the fuzzy SiWeC (simple weight calculation) method, which was utilized to subjectively assess the significance of the criteria involved, alongside the Entropy method, which objectively evaluated the importance of these criteria. Additionally, the fuzzy CORASO (compromise ranking from alternative solutions) method was applied to rank the alternatives. The assessment of the significance of the criteria, along with the assessment of the applications based on the selected criteria, was conducted by experts. They carried out this assessment by utilizing linguistic values, which required a fuzzy approach. The findings from this approach indicated that, following the application of the SiWeC and Entropy methods, the most critical criterion for assessing applications is their efficiency. Through the application of the fuzzy CORASO method, it was determined that the A1 application most effectively satisfies the established criteria, making it the preferred option for the implementation of the smart farming system. This research has demonstrated that applications are an essential tool for the realization of smart farming, and it has illustrated how applications can be chosen using the MCDM method.

Satellite remote sensing increasingly supports water quality monitoring, yet the temporal transferability of machine learning (ML) models remains insufficiently tested, particularly in coastal shallow lakes subject to hydrological variability. This study evaluates the predictive robustness of satellite-based ML models for electrical conductivity (EC), turbidity (TUR), water temperature (WT), and dissolved oxygen (DO) in Vrana Lake, Croatia. A total of 409 in situ measurements collected during 2023–2024 and 2025 were paired with Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8–9 imagery. Pearson, Spearman, and Kendall correlation analyses were applied for parameter-specific band selection using original, inverse, quadratic, and logarithmic feature transformations. Seventeen regression algorithms were evaluated under six training–testing split strategies, including strict temporal projection. WT exhibited high robustness (R2 ≈ 0.90 under temporal projection) due to its strong dependence on thermal bands, while DO achieved moderate temporal stability (R2 = 0.51) using log-transformed predictors. EC and TUR demonstrated substantial performance degradation under temporal separation (R2 = 0.14 and −4.62, respectively), reflecting sensitivity to distribution shifts. For parameters showing sufficient stability, interpretable band-based retrieval equations were derived using the most strongly correlated spectral predictors. These findings highlight the importance of temporally structured validation and demonstrate that model complexity does not guarantee operational robustness in shallow, dynamically evolving lake systems.

ABSTRACT This study investigated how Croatian scholars in the social sciences and humanities assess the credibility of academic journals, focusing on the influence of journal characteristics, academic discipline, rank, and cognitive style. Using a mixed‐method design with 1307 participants, we manipulated information about three journal characteristics (peer review, scope/title, institutional affiliations) across eight scenarios. Participants rated the credibility of each journal scenario and completed the Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT). Results showed that each positive journal characteristic, as well as its combinations, significantly increased perceived credibility. Scholars with higher publishing expectations were more critical than their lower‐ranking peers, whilst no differences emerged between disciplinary areas. Reflective cognitive style, as measured by the CRT, was negatively correlated with credibility ratings, particularly for scenarios depicting lower‐quality journals. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a two‐factor structure, suggesting that scholars tend to categorise journals into credible and non‐credible types. These findings underscore the combined influence of structural and cognitive factors in scholarly decision‐making and highlight the role of reflective thinking in safeguarding research integrity. Implications are discussed for research policy, research training, and efforts to mitigate the impact of predatory publishing.

Background/Objectives: Healthy lifestyle behaviors are major contributors to overall health and disease prevention. This cross-sectional study aimed to assess attitude toward a healthy lifestyle and its associations with lifestyle behaviors, body mass index (BMI), excess body weight, sociodemographic characteristics, and self-rated health in adults. Methods: The Attitudes toward a Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire was administered to 570 Croatian adults between November and December 2025. Multiple linear and binary logistic regression models were used to examine associations between lifestyle behaviors (number of daily meals, sitting time, sleep duration), smoking and e-cigarette use, alcohol consumption, BMI, self-rated health, and attitude toward a healthy lifestyle. Results: The median attitude toward a healthy lifestyle score was 52.0 (IQR = 10), corresponding to 62% of the maximum possible score. A more positive attitude toward a healthy lifestyle was associated with a higher number of daily meals (β = 0.16, p = 0.001), longer sleep duration (β = 0.17, p < 0.001), lower sitting time (β = −0.11, p = 0.010), and lower BMI (β = −0.24, p < 0.001). Smoking was negatively associated with attitude toward a healthy lifestyle (β = −0.18; p < 0.001), while e-cigarette use was associated with fewer daily meals (β = −0.10; p = 0.025). Longer sleep duration increased the odds of excellent self-rated health (OR = 1.31, p = 0.014), and a more positive attitude toward a healthy lifestyle was associated with lower odds of excess body weight (OR = 0.92, p < 0.001). Conclusions: Attitude toward a healthy lifestyle is significantly associated with lifestyle behaviors, BMI, excess body weight, and self-rated health, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in promoting sustainable healthy lifestyles.

Dvije rukopisne zbirke Maje Bošković-Stulli (1956; 1964) jedine donose bajke, uz ostale prozne oblike, dok još jedino rukopisne zbirke Nikole Bonifačića Rožina i Ivana Ivančana donose predaje, anegdote i legendarne pripovijetke sakupljene na tome prostoru.

Ship weather routing optimization has evolved from deterministic great-circle navigation to sophisticated frameworks that account for dynamic environmental conditions and operational constraints. This paper presents a waypoint-sequencing Model Predictive Control (MPC) approach for energy-efficient ship weather routing under forecast uncertainty. The proposed rolling horizon framework integrates neural network-based vessel performance models with ensemble weather forecasts to enable real-time route adaptation while balancing fuel efficiency, navigational safety, and path smoothness objectives. The MPC controller operates with a 6 h control horizon and 24 h prediction horizon, re-optimizing every 6 h using updated meteorological forecasts. A multi-objective cost function prioritizes fuel consumption (60%), safety considerations (30%), and trajectory smoothness (10%), with an exponential discount factor (γ = 0.95) to account for increasing forecast uncertainty. The framework discretises planned routes into waypoints and optimizes heading angles and discrete speed options (12.0, 13.5, and 14.5 knots) at each control step. Validation using 21 transatlantic voyage scenarios with real hindcast weather data demonstrates the method’s capability to propagate uncertainties through ship performance models, yielding probabilistic estimates for attainable speed, fuel consumption, and estimated time of arrival (ETA). The methodology establishes a foundation for more advanced stochastic optimization approaches while offering immediate operational value through its computational tractability and integration with existing ship decision support systems.
