Abstract Holding the weight of the world can feel like an unimaginable burden. Black women educators’ too often neglect their personal physical, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being due to familial and/or professional obligations. In this chapter, Deidra details her family’s struggle with the stress of dual pandemics: COVID-19 and racial injustice in north Texas and beyond. Her story is grounded in a transparent desire to reframe the narrative around anxiety, addiction, and supportive communities.

Abstract On order to minimize their environmental impact and make use of more exposed sites, innovative types of nets, complementary to the traditional polyester nets, have been investigated. One of them are metallic nets made of a copper alloy that not only allow for the use of a single net, leaving behind the need of a predator netting system, but also reduce the presence of biofouling while better controlling the production volume due to its higher wet weight and axial stiffness compared to commonly used nets used in aquaculture operations. Another innovative type of net are low-porosity membranes, which are used to contain organic residues on the bottom of the cage or to constrain the exchange of water between the inside of the cage and the external flow, limiting the effects of diseases or sudden environmental changes on the biomass. Currently, there is a gap in the determination of hydrodynamic response on these innovative netting systems, considering typical operational and extreme conditions on aquaculture sites. Thus, the present work numerically simulates drag and lift forces on single nets considering a wide range of current speeds and angles of attack using the open-source CFD code REEF3D. The nets are implemented according to the Screen Force Model, where the hydrodynamical forces are estimated with an experimental data basis of drag and lift coefficients fitted into a truncated Fourier series, obtained from experiments at the Wave/Towing tank at Universidad Austral de Chile. The results emphasize the need to carry out experiments to describe drag and lift forces for each netting types before more complex scenarios are modeled while, since the initial results, using a generic formulation for drag and lift coefficients, lead to large errors on the numerical results, discrepancies that are reduced when the Fourier series specifically determined for the net are implemented on the numerical scheme.

This presentation deals with the creation of a Knowledge Graph for small and big publishers to produce results for SEO.<br> <br> Using the technology behind Knowledge Graphs to semantically link tags and entities to articles, we injected content across 55 websites with context-rich information that can talk to search engines and appeal to users.<br> In this analysis I present results from Organic Search and showcase all the possibilities that Knowledge Graphs give in terms of SEO, especially in the era of AI-generated content.<br> The aim of this presentation is to showcase the power of Knowledge Graphs in the field of modern SEO.

Drawing from the experiences of graduate students who become parents during graduate school in the United States, we argue that working parents encounter multiple liminalities, defined as “betwixt and between the original positions arrayed by law, custom, convention and ceremony” (Turner, 1977, p. 95) in their work-family negotiation. Findings revealed that graduate student parents (GSP) experienced permanent liminality when navigating parental leave policies, transitional liminality when managing work-family demands, and limbo liminality as GSPs are compared against “the ideal worker” in their everyday work. GSPs engaged in pivoting to unleash the agentic potential of their liminal positionality. Pivoting is enacted through (a) stepping into X or Y side of the liminal space to unlock oneself from the inbetweeness, (b) rotating back and forth between X and Y positions to attend to different roles, and (c) turning to an alternative space whereby the hybrid X-Y identities are embraced.

Problematic substance use is a pressing global health problem, and dissemination and implementation of accurate health information regarding prevention, treatment, and recovery are vital. In many nations, especially the US, many people are involved in religious groups or faith communities, and this offers a potential route to positively affect health through health information dissemination in communities that may have limited health resources. Health information related to addiction will be used as the backdrop issue for this discussion, but many health arenas could be substituted. This article evaluates the utility of commonly used health communication theories for communicating health information about addiction in religious settings and identifies their shortcomings. A lack of trusting, equally contributing, bidirectional collaboration among representatives of the clinical/scientific community and religious/faith communities in the development and dissemination of health information is identified as a potential impediment to effectiveness. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) tenets of trauma-informed practice, although developed for one-on-one use with those who have experienced trauma or adversity, are presented as a much more broadly applicable framework to improve communication between groups such as organizations or communities. As an example, we focus on health communication within, with, and through religious groups and particularly within churches.

Addiction has been a global health crisis over recent decades and worsened substantially during COVID-19 lockdowns. We report on the development, validation, and findings from an instrument developed to assess the readiness of churches in the Appalachian Highlands to address addiction. The Church Addiction Response Scale (CARS) is a 41-item, three section measure assessing “What are your views about addiction?” (14 items), “What are your views about interacting with people who are addicted to drugs?” (11 items), and “What do you think the church’s role is in addressing addiction?” (16 items). The CARS was found to be unidimensional with strong internal consistency and initial evidence of construct validity was positive. Most respondents reported willingness to assist people living with addiction, but many reported that they felt underprepared, thus were not ready. Areas of preparation were largely those that could be addressed through training, such as understanding the physiology and psychology of addiction, available treatment options, and how to avoid doing harm. Thus, with adequate training, the likelihood of equipping a church-based workforce to provide support for people living with addiction seems attainable.

The 12 May 2008 Wenchuan earthquake (M s =8.0) struck on the Longmen Shan foreland thrust zone. The event took place within the context of long-term uplift of the Longmen Shan range as a result of the extensive eastward-extrusion of crustal materials from the Tibetan plateau against the rheologically strong crust of the Sichuan Basin. The Longmen Shan range is characterized by a Pre-Sinian crystalline complex constrained by the Maoxian-Wenchuan-Kangding ductile detachment at the western margin and the Yingxiu-Beichuan-Luding ductile thrust at the eastern margin. The Longmen Shan uplift was initiated by intracontinental subduction between the Songpan-Ganzi terrane and the Yangtze block during the Pre-Cenozoic. The uplift rate was increased considerably by the collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates since ∼50 Ma. The Wenchuan earthquake resulted in two major NE-striking coseismic ruptures (i.e., the ∼275 km long Yingxiu- Beichuan-Qingchuan fault and the ∼100 km long Anxian-Guanxian fault). Field investigations combined with focal solutions and seismic reflection profiles suggest that the coseismic ruptures are steeply dipping close-topure reverse or right reverse oblique slip faults in the ∼15 km thick upper crust. These faults are unfavorably oriented for frictional slip in the horizontally compressional regime, so that they need a long recurrence interval to accumulate the tectonic stress and fluid pressure to critically high levels for the formation of strong earthquakes at a given locality. It is also found that all the large earthquakes (M s >7.0) occurred in the fault zones across which the horizontal movement velocities measured by the GPS are markedly low (<3 mm/yr). The faults, which constitute the northeastern fronts of the enlarging Tibetan plateau against the strong Sichuan Basin, Ala Shan and Ordos blocks, are very destructive, although their average recurrence intervals are generally long.
