Modelling the structural evolution and polytypism of micas by tetrahedral transformation and polyhedral volumes.
A computerized analysis of over 450 mica crystal structures is carried out. These data are accessed via the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD), whereby unit-cell parameters, atomic coordinates and polyhedron generators resulting from this analysis are transferred to Microsoft Excel as an interactive working environment. This environment enables the rapid calculation of many crystal chemical parameters, including tetrahedral, octahedral or AO12 polyhedral volumes and areas. The forms of the O4 tetrahedra are quantified by transformation to pseudocubes with six independent parameters. Reversibility between crystal chemical and crystallographic parameters is provided by means of the Microsoft Excel Solver. This gives rise to a method of structure prediction by interpolation, which is demonstrated for a 1M phlogopite. Hypothetical structures at temperatures of 150 and 723 K are predicted, and a computationally generated structure at 673 K is compared with the experimentally known structure at this temperature. The crystal chemical parameterization is also used to identify the differences between the five principal mica polytypes: 1M, 2M1, 2M2, 3T and 2O. The Excel software developed is made available via a weblink, with instructions for carrying out structure predictions in the supporting information.
Read moreWorkplace fear of missing out in the context of working remotely versus in the office – A multimethod perspective from three studies
Abstract In recent years, remote work has gained significant traction. While this shift enhances employee flexibility and work‐life balance, it also introduces challenges, particularly regarding social connectedness and information exchange. Due to these challenges, it may be harder when working remotely to fulfil central work‐related needs, as described by self‐determination theory (SDT), resulting in workplace fear of missing out (wFoMO) – the anxiety of not being up‐to‐date stemming from physical disconnection from the office. This article addresses the underexplored relationship between remote work and wFoMO. We present three studies employing a multimethodological approach: Study 1 offers cross‐sectional insights into the relationship between remote work and wFoMO; Study 2 and Study 3 are experimental, and their results indicate that wFoMO is heightened when individuals' needs, specifically those associated with relatedness, competence, and autonomy, are unmet in a remote work environment. Additionally, Study 3 reveals that when the need for autonomy is unmet, this leads to lower employee well‐being via wFoMO. Collectively, these studies illuminate the complexities of remote work, specifically conditions under which remote work may be challenging for employees. Furthermore, these studies emphasize implications of remote work for wFoMO, and consequently, employee well‐being.
Read morePsychometric validation of the Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) scale in German pre-pandemic and mid-pandemic samples
Despite the public health value of immunizations, vaccine hesitancy is a widespread phenomenon and received special attention during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) Scale aims to identify anti-vaccination attitudes for understanding vaccine hesitancy. The present study is the validation of the German version of the VAX scale in pre-/mid-pandemic samples. All individuals completed an online-survey assessing prior and expected future vaccination behaviors, further constructs associated with vaccine hesitancy, as well as anti-vaccination attitudes using the translated VAX scale among others. In a first study, 297 individuals were surveyed before the COVID-19 pandemic. A second study included 260 individuals recruited during the COVID-19 pandemic. For validation, two confirmatory factor analyses have been conducted. Reliability measures (internal consistency, test–retest-correlation) were determined. The four subscales were confirmed by Confirmation Factor Analysis with a very good to excellent fit. The subscales showed good to excellent reliability and convergent validity determinants. Average VAX values significantly distinguished between individuals who had previously received or refused immunization and predicted expected vaccination behavior. The German translation of the VAX scale is effective in identifying anti-vaccination attitudes and can be used for further research on anti-vaccination attitudes and vaccine hesitancy.

Abstract This miscellany reports on a newly found dedication copy of Kant’s Religion within the Boundaries of mere Reason (1793) to his dear friend and former student Carl Gottlieb Fischer.
Read moreThe Psychological, Physiological, and Behavioral Responses of Patients to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
MRI is generally well-tolerated although it may induce physiological stress responses and anxiety in patients. Investigate the psychological, physiological, and behavioral responses of patients to MRI, their evolution over time, and influencing factors. Systematic review with meta-analysis. 181,371 adult patients from 44 studies undergoing clinical MRI. Pubmed, PsycInfo, Web of Science, and Scopus were systematically searched according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Quality appraisal was conducted with the Joanna Briggs Institute critical appraisal tools. Meta-analysis was conducted via Meta-Essentials workbooks when five studies were available for an outcome. Psychological and behavioral outcomes could be analyzed. Psychological outcomes were anxiety (State-Trait-Anxiety Inventory, STAI-S; 37) and willingness to undergo MRI again. Behavioral outcomes included unexpected behaviors: No shows, sedation, failed scans, and motion artifacts. Year of publication, sex, age, and positioning were examined as moderators. Meta-analysis, Hedge's g. A P value <0.05 was considered to indicate statistical significance. Of 12,755 initial studies, 104 studies were included in methodological review and 44 (181,371 patients) in meta-analysis. Anxiety did not significantly reduce from pre- to post-MRI (Hedge's g = -0.20, P = 0.051). Pooled values of STAI-S (37) were 44.93 (pre-MRI) and 40.36 (post-MRI). Of all patients, 3.9% reported unwillingness to undergo MRI again. Pooled prevalence of unexpected patient behavior was 11.4%; rates for singular behaviors were: Failed scans, 2.1%; no-shows, 11.5%; sedation, 3.3%; motion artifacts, 12.2%. Year of publication was not a significant moderator (all P > 0.169); that is, the patients' response was not improved in recent vs. older studies. Meta-analysis of physiological responses was not feasible since preconditions were not met for any outcome. Advancements of MRI technology alone may not be sufficient to eliminate anxiety in patients undergoing MRI and related unexpected behaviors. 1 TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 5.

This article focuses on the quality of life of people living in facilities of the stationary geriatric care under the special conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Quality of life can be described and experienced in multidimensional and heterogeneous ways even without the challenges of pandemic conditions. Similarly, the group of people living in residential care facilities for the elderly is also heterogeneous. In the second part, a description refers to challenges that stationary geriatric care facilities were subjected to under pandemic conditions, the third part offers a classification of the current situation.
