This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of edge computing architecture, categorizing its components into on-premises edge, network edge, and data center edge, each representing a unique deployment approach. Through collaboration with cloud and peripheral devices, edge computing enables powerful data processing, caching, storage, and efficient content delivery. The chapter also examines four collaborative models within edge computing: edge-to-edge, edge-to-device, edge-to-cloud, and cloud-edge-device, each enhancing interoperability across various layers. Finally, the chapter emphasizes the importance of network integration in supporting smooth data flow and communication in distributed systems, highlighting how strategic model selection can optimize system performance.

Cucumaria frondosa (Gennerus, 1767) or orange-footed sea cucumbers are traditional food and are used as natural sources of anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-angiogenic, antimicrobial, and anticancer agents. Currently, the introduction of value-added sea cucumber products to the global market has inspired basic research on frondoside A and other saponins in sea cucumbers. These saponins serve as a means of their chemical defence. However, recent studies revealed that exposure to these saponins can lead to irritating symptoms from aerosolization of various holothurins. Moreover, extraction methods are critical to the bioavailability of various bioactive compounds found in sea cucumbers. Therefore, we have critically reviewed recent studies on the chemistry, biosynthesis, and pharmacological properties of frondoside A. Furthermore, the mechanism of actions of frondoside A was postulated and further studies are required for applications in functional foods, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals. Frondoside A was first discovered from Cucumaria frondosa, and it is involved in protein kinase (PI3K/AKT/ERK1/2/p38 MAPK, RAC/CDC42 PAK1, NFκB/MAPK/JNK, and LXR-β) signalling pathways. It is also involved in the suppression of MYC oncogene transcriptional factors implicated and upregulated in over 70% of cancer types. Future research needs to be aimed at optimized green extraction techniques, efficient delivery methods, safety, and efficacy.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of COVID-19 related tasks on the rates of burnout in athletic trainers practicing in the collegiate setting.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of caffeine on agility tests (3-step approach,2-hand vertical leap,5-10-5 drill) on a women’s collegiate volleyball team at one Division III institution. MAIN OUTCOME MEASUREMENT: Vertical jump measuring device measured 3-step approach and 2-hand vertical leap measurements. A stopwatch measured the 5-10-5 drill.

The Coastal Eco Explorer is an Apple and Android mobile application that delivers educational information for 64 ecological sites in Carolina Beach State Park. The app is an interdisciplinary collaboration between university faculty and state park rangers to educate park visitors. The Coastal Eco Explorer was launched in March 2021 and has several hundred users. This article describes the genesis of the Coastal Eco Explorer project, its technical architecture, and its current functionality. The app is the first official app published by the university. The app’s development yielded several lessons learned of interest to educators interested in developing published end-user software.

Abstract The current study examined how ethnic‐racial socialization (i.e., ERS; cultural socialization, preparation for bias) is shaped by neighborhood characteristics and parents’ perceived discrimination, as well as how ERS shapes youth ethnic‐racial identity (ERI) among Latinx parent‐adolescent dyads (N= 69) living in a new destination area (i.e., not historically settled by Latinx populations). Results showed that neighborhood diversity was positively associated with parents’ ERS beliefs, which in turn were associated with youth's perceptions of parents’ ERS behaviors, which predicted youth ERI outcomes (i.e., centrality and private regard). Neighborhood problems were negatively associated with youth public regard. Neither neighborhood problems nor parents’ perceived discrimination was associated with ERS. The current study adds to limited empirical evidence on how neighborhood structural and social characteristics impact ERS, and in turn, ERI, among Latinx families. Overall, study findings advance knowledge on how cultural and contextual factors shape ERS in an understudied context.
