To endow a star sensor with strong robustness, low algorithm complexity, and a small database, this paper proposes an all-sky star identification algorithm based on spherical polar pattern matching. The proposed algorithm consists of three main steps. First, the guide star is rotated to be a polar star, and the polar and azimuth angles of neighboring stars are used as polar pattern elements of the guide star. Then, the relative azimuth histogram is applied to the spherical polar pattern matching, and a star pair after spherical polar pattern matching is identified through angular distance cross-verification. Finally, a reference star image is generated from the identified star pair to complete the matching process of all guide stars in the field of view. The proposed algorithm is verified by simulation experiments. The simulation results show that for a star sensor with a medium field of view (15° × 15°, 1024 × 1024 pixel) and a limiting magnitude of 6.0 Mv, the required database size is 161 KB. When false and missing star spots account for 50% of the guide stars and the star spot extraction error is 1.0 pixel, the average star identification time is 0.35 ms (@i7-4790), and the identification probability is 99.9%. However, when false and missing star spots account for 100% of the guide stars and the star spot extraction error is 5.0 pixel, the average star identification time is less than 2.0 ms, and the identification probability is 97.1%.

The presence of stray light degrades the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of space optical payloads and, in severe cases, may lead to the loss of target data, ultimately resulting in mission failure. Stray light measurement aims to directly evaluate the impact of stray light on space optical systems and serves as a core method for determining and verifying the actual stray light suppression capability of the system. Traditional measurement methods struggle to distinguish target signals from background noise, limiting the accuracy of point source transmittance (PST) measurements. This paper proposes a time-domain stray light measurement method based on a pulsed light source and a time detector. By analyzing the characteristics of background noise and target light, filtering the temporal properties of optical signals, and achieving precise control, the method enables accurate identification of target stray light signals. Experimental results show that at an off-axis angle of 60°, the PST reached 9.32 × 10-10, while the background noise caused by air scattering was 3.10 × 10-10. This method provides a cost-effective and easily implementable solution for stray light measurement in space optical systems. It is suitable for low-threshold stray light measurement and evaluation in systems such as space gravitational wave detection and space optical telescopes.

In the conventional methods of star sensor accuracy evaluation, neither the accuracy calculation formula nor the Monte Carlo method can comprehensively reflect the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors in real-time. In this paper, a real-time analysis and calculation model for the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors is proposed. Firstly, the basic attitude measurement model of the star sensor is established through the pinhole imaging model. Moreover, a moving frame of star sensor attitude measurement is established to avoid the defects of attitude representation by the Euler angle in the star sensor accuracy analysis. Then, combined with the error transfer of implicit overdetermined equations proposed in this paper, the error transfers of starspot extraction random error, star catalog random error, and intrinsic parameter system error are provided. Finally, simulation and field experiments are conducted to verify the accuracy of the proposed error analysis theory. The experimental results show that the attitude measurement accuracy of star sensors can be accurately estimated by using single-frame data of guide stars.

In light of the current situation where no testing equipment is available for measuring thermal deformation of objects, this paper proposes a novel method for accurate and precise measurement. The method overcomes the limitations of previous approaches that relied on pitch angle. By utilizing the principle of biplane multiple reflections, a bivariate laser spot displacement analysis algorithm is devised to attain highly precise measurements of bivariate angles. Additionally, a temperature gradient comparison algorithm is introduced to calculate the indicator test results under specific temperature conditions. To validate the effectiveness and reliability of this method, a testing system is constructed and utilized. The results demonstrate that the thermal deformation angle change test achieves an impressive accuracy of 0.015″ and a rate of thermal deformation angle change of 0.3247″/°C. These values are in close agreement with the previously simulated analysis result of 0.359″/°C, with only a relative error of 9.55%. Therefore, the test results confirm the efficacy and reliability of this testing method along with the feasibility of the algorithm processing.
