They play a crucial role in inflammatory diseases as well as in the promotion of progression of many types of neoplasms. This review covers the most important pathological conditions associated with mast cell activity focusing on inflammatory diseases, e.g. inflammatory bowel disease, chronic pancreatitis, asthma, and mostly on tumor growth and metastases.</p> <p> </p> <p>Keywords: mast cells, inflammatory diseases, tumor growth, metastases.</p>
