Abstract

Graphs can be used as representations of communication systems, operational semantics and model validation, as well as for visualizing transactions. Graphs are an intuitive representation of the states of these systems where transitions can be conveniently described by graph transformation rules. A graph is a non-linear data structure that consists of vertices (or nodes) connected by edges (or arcs), where edges can be directed or not directed. In this article, we will look at graphical tools such as D3.js, jgraph, NetworkX, Gephi, and sigma.js. We study how to use these tools, what advantages and disadvantages they have, and compare their performance, since each of these tools uses its own graph visualization methods. We also conducted a comparative review of graph visualization algorithms. Algorithms such as FA (Force Atlas), FA2 (Force Atlas 2), FR (Fruchterman & Reingold), LinLog and Dijkstra (Dijkstra's algorithm) were described in the review. The study showed that not all algorithms from the list are readable and fast in visualization. Algorithms were compared by visualization using different tools and algorithms on the same data. After the experiments, the best algorithm was chosen. Having dealt with the choice of algorithm, experiments were conducted to optimize the speed of generating the coordinates of the graph by introducing parallel calculations for the selected algorithm, after which the following results were obtained on parallelization on 12 cores: Speedup Ratio - 3.2 and Parallel Efficiency – 0.3. During the experiments, the best graph visualization algorithm was identified and selected - this is the Force Atlas 2 algorithm, and this algorithm was parallelized, and the results of parallelization efficiency were obtained and shown.
