In this paper we analyze a new kind of participle formation in Brazilian Portuguese, which we have called innovative participles . This type of participle, which is getting more and more common for speakers of this language, takes place in contexts where only the canonical regular forms were expected, freely alternating with such forms. Our main aims are to determine the structure associated with innovative participles and to understand what mechanism of Brazilian Portuguese grammar makes the variation between regular and innovative participles possible. Assuming a Distributed Morphology (Halle & Marantz, 1993) approach to grammar, we propose that the same syntactic structure underlies the formation of both types of participles and the difference between them is the result of different morphological processes that occur at the level of Morphological Structure.

Together with the use of double negatives, the use of non‐standard verb forms is generally stigmatised in all varieties of English, including Australian English. But although we all know, for example, that some speakers use done for the past tense of do, or went for the past participle of go, we have little systematic knowledge regarding the nature or extent of this variation. Shnukal's (1978) study of Cessnock English is the only Australian study which attempts to quantify the occurrence of non‐standard past tense and past participle verb forms, or to explore systematically the linguistic and non‐linguistic factors which influence this variation, while Cheshire (1982) provides an investigation of variation in present tense verb forms in Reading English. Human brain potentials to violations in morphologically complex Italian words

This study aims to find out how far the upper middle class dominates the lower class and to find out and analyze the narratives built in textbooks when interacting with the lower class. This research uses qualitative research based on library research, where the source of data used as research material is Kindergarten B textbooks. The data is analyzed using content analysis, namely; pragmatic content analysis, semantic content analysis, and analysis of sign means. The results of the study show that the dominance of the upper middle class over the lower class is drawn through lifestyles, such as; vacation to the beach, sitting on soft sofa chairs, diving, and so on. The narrative developed in the Kindergarten B textbook focuses more on urban lifestyles and the balancing narrative that can fit into the upper and lower middle social class is not too significant. Following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, his utterance, “I can’t breathe,” reverberated internationally as the world population grappled with the twin specters of life-threatening COVID-19 respiratory morbidities and mounting years under increasingly polarized racist regimes. Despite crisis fatigue, national and international outpourings of solidarity trended on social and mainstream media. However, in this moment, the legacy of structural and slow violences against the living, breathing Minneapolis–St. Paul communities of color were obscured. This article addresses transdisciplinary breathing politics in this mid-sized American city to integrate atmospheric indicators (concentrations of criteria pollutants including particulate matter and gaseous pollutants), traffic indicators (Minnesota Department of Transportation permanent traffic monitoring station data), and social indicators (community responses in newspaper and Twitter archives), ultimately making visible how Floyd’s utterance reflects much deeper patterns of stratified urban public health risks and socio-environmental airscape politics. Bullet Points of Findings Breathing politics are racialized in Minneapolis, demonstrating stark differences in traffic and air quality across neighborhoods. Through content analysis, it is shown that social media platforms like Twitter can be rich historical records for tracking local public discourse, providing valuable insight to the ways people talk about and conceive topics like environmental justice, breathing politics, and urban equity. While hashtag activism on social media flourished in 2020 to address anti-Black racism, it was neither a “tipping point” nor did it show a discernible impact on the nature of environmental justice discourse about breathing politics, despite the steep rise of #ICantBreathe. Integrating social, economic, and environmental indicators has the overarching benefit of addressing complex, lived systems.

In the previous chapter, we saw that signed languages are now recognised as real languages. In this chapter, we place signed languages in their social context and describe how language use in signing communities differs from that found in spoken language communities. For example, we explain how signed languages are often only found as primary languages in deaf communities which are small linguistic minorities embedded within much larger communities using spoken languages. These spoken languages, in turn, often have written forms, which are used by literate signers. The types of signed communication that evolve in deaf communities given this relationship between signed and spoken (written) languages—such as natural signed languages, artificial sign systems and natural sign systems (Fischer, 1998)—is explained in this chapter. Importantly, the question of variation in signed language is also examined. The main purpose of this paper is to describe the time reference markers in KiVunjo-Chaga, a language spoken in north-eastern Tanzania. Very little is known about Chaga dialects, and this study aims at initiating a systematic approach which distinguishes the various aspects of the temporal reference system of Chaga dialects. Owing to the contrainst of this paper, the A. has limited his study to the description of only those verbs forms which are inflected for Tense/Aspect and which function as independent main verbs in a sentence. Negative verb forms are also excluded from the present description. The account presented in this paper is a small part of on-going research which will result in a reference grammar of KiVunjo-Chaga and which can be used as a basis for the description of the remaining dialects in the continuum of Chaga languages

This study aims to describe the choice of language in the communication of PBSI muktiethnic students which include: (1) when doing lecture assignments, (2) during HMPS activities, (3) when chatting in the campus canteen, and (4) the implications for learning to speak in senior high school. The results of research on the choice of language in PBSI multi-technical student communication show (1) the choice of language when doing coursework is in the form of: a. Dayak Ngaju speakers and Batak speakers choose Indonesian; b. Dayak Ngaju speakers and Banjar speakers choose Indonesian and Banjar languages; c. Ma'anyan speakers and Ma'anyan speakers choose Indonesian, Ma'anyan and Banjar; d. speakers of Javanese, bMaanyan and Dayak Ngaju languages choose Indonesian and Dayak Ngaju languages; and e. speakers of Ma'anyan, Banjar and Batak languages choose Indonesian and Banjar languages. (2) the choice of language during HMPS activities is in the form of: a. speakers of Dayak Ngaju and Banjar languages choose Indonesian; b. speakers of Javanese and Batak languages prefer Indonesian and Banjar languages; c. speakers of Ma'anyan, Banjar and Dayak Ngaju languages choose Indonesian. (3) the choice of language when chatting in the campus cafeteria is in the form of: a. speakers of Dayak Ngaju and Dayak Ngaju languages choose Indonesian and Dayak Ngaju languages; b. speakers of Banjar and Dayak Ngaju languages choose Indonesian and Banjar languages; and c. speakers of Ma'anyan, Batak and Dayak Ngaju languages choose Indonesian and Banjar languages. The traditional approach to automated analysis of medical data is mostly based on statistical or theoretical-decision methods of pattern recognition. Using such methods, we can obtain many valuable items, e.g., tracking patients' movements, control of medical treatment, etc. In medical informatics there are still many problems not solvable by computers and reserved for human medical staff. Such problems can be solved by the development of scientific research toward machine intelligence. In this paper, we try to show how the computer can understand medical data instead of simple processing and analysis. Sometimes it may be useful to make semantic content analysis leading to automatic understanding of medical data, e.g., for intelligent help in the diagnosis process or in semantics-based searching through medical databases. This paper will present the application of the cognitive-based approach for intelligent semantic analysis, allowing describing automatically important diagnostic features of analyzed images. This approach is based on a special kind of image description language and grammar formalism. During the linguistic analysis of medical patterns, we can solve the problem of generalization of features of a selected image and obtaining semantic content description of the image. The most important part of this analysis depends on the cognitive resonance process, in which features of real images are compared with some kind of expectation taken from the knowledge base containing knowledge regarding pathological cases originating from medical practice.

The aim of the SCHEMA Network of Excellence is to bring together a critical mass of universities, research centers, industrial partners and end users, in order to design a reference system for content-based semantic scene analysis, interpretation and understanding. Relevant research areas include: content-based multimedia analysis and automatic annotation of semantic multimedia content, combined textual and multimedia information retrieval, semantic -web, MPEG-7 and MPEG-21 standards, user interfaces and human factors. In this paper, recent advances in content-based analysis, indexing and retrieval of digital media within the SCHEMA Network are presented. These advances will be integrated in the SCHEMA module-based, expandable reference system.

Dreams in obsessive-compulsive disorder: An analysis of semantic and emotional content compared to controls

One of the core competencies of students who want to improve in future education in the 21st century is the ability to utilize media. Primary school students entering the school age can be regarded as the right time for media education because of their high adaptability and capacity for media. The purpose of this study is to examine the social debate about media education in Korean society, how media education is being conducted in this important primary school period. For this study, big data was collected in the last 5 years (2014.08.07- 2019.08.07) from internet portal sites with keywords of ?primary school media education? and ?primary school media literacy?. The data collected with Textom and Ucinet 6.0 was utilized as a data analysis solution. Semantic network analysis, CONCOR analysis, and content analysis were used as data analysis methodology. As the result of CONCOR analysis of 'Primary school Media Education' in this study, 'Direction of future education in the era of the 4th industrial revolution', 'Preparation for future education', 'Various factors related to expansion of future education program', 'Expansion to Four factors were derived, including ?Application to advanced classes' factor. In the 4th industrial revolution, primary school students are using media and digital devices in class. In particular, it was confirmed that not only curriculum for academic subjects such as English and Mathematics, but also new curriculum for new subjects such as coding, big data education are actively being conducted in the education field. Accordingly, it is revealed that it is the right time to provide future education that can have a sound digital identity so that media education can be achieved in a media-friendly local community and educational environment.

The service industry in Taiwan accounted for 68.8% of GDP in 2011, equivalent to the same level of major industrial countries. The development of the industry structure in Taiwan has also followed the same trends as advanced countries. Strengthening the development of knowledge-intensive business services (KIBS) is an important issue for industry development and policy planning. KIBS is an economic activity that relates to the creation, accumulation and diffusion of knowledge. Miles et al. divided KIBS into P-KIBS and T-KIBS. KIBS has been introduced to the service industry to give add value and increase competiveness[1]. In light of the above, this research uses information and communication companies that grew quickly in the last decade and collected a total of 1,890 pieces of secondary data. Each piece of collected data has been analyzed and determined through multiple databases before being put through semantic analysis and content analysis. From this research it was found that: (1) clients can be divided into eight types (general, business, financial governmental, specific areas and ethnic groups, int ernational, educational, and medical service clients); (2) products can be divided into four types (mobility value-added, digital convergence, light era, and cloud computing and medical services); (3) the level of innovation can be divided into six types (service extension, service upgrade, major innovation, style change, providing new services, and newly emergent business). According to the analysis results and detailed interviews with experts, an innovative strategy for information and communication services has been developed.

Segments in spoken and sign language interaction do not produce individual units in isolation but in a continuous stream of expression. When using language for communication, the forms of segments can be simplified to make communication more efficient for both communicators and communicants. This communication can result in changes in the way formal units of language are formed. It follows that, as in spoken languages, there are considerable differences in how sign languages are articulated. The differences may manifest in lexis and syntax and in phonetic differences related to social and linguistic factors. In this paper, we focus on the linguistic factors causing differences in the articulation of signs, specifically on the phonological processes within which different adaptations in the forms of signs may occur. For this reason, we will approach several phonological processes in the stream of signing occurring in different national sign languages compared to Slovak sign language and their characteristic features. Understanding phonological processes in the realization of signing can enrich the field of phonetics and phonology in general.

This study discusses the similarities and differences in Al-Qur'an reading material between riwāyat Hafş Ibn Sulaimān al-Kūfiy and riwāyat Warsy 'Uśmān Ibn Sa'īd al-Mişrī and its implications for Al-Qur'ān reading learning. In implementing this research process, methods are used that are in harmony with the object of research, so the author uses a type of library research and is descriptive, comparative, or content analysis. In line with the type and nature of research, the data sources that I use are primary data sources, in an effort to collect data using the Library Study method. Data analysis used is qualitative data analysis. Based on the results of the study show that there are similarities and differences in the reading material between riwāyat Hafş Ibn Sulaimān al-Kūfiy and riwāyat Warsy 'Uśmān Ibn Sa'īd al-Mişrī as well as its implications for Al-Qur'an reading reading, namely the similarity in pronouncing makhārij al-hurūf and şifat al-surat. However, there are differences in the form of verbs, iśbat, dialect differences (lahjah). Thus the difference in qirā'āt is caused by 2 (two) aspects, namely the historical aspect and the biological aspect. Implications for Al-Qur'an reading learning which includes components such as goals, material, methods, teachers and students, media and evaluation.
