The current increase in smartphone users has caused various mobile device operating system companies to compete with each other to create a mobile device operating system that is suitable and acceptable to the public. Competition among mobile operating system market shares can be analyzed using the Lotka-Volterra model. This study aims to reconstruct the Lotka-Volterra model for the cellular operating system market share in Indonesia. In addition, a stability analysis was carried out, which aims to determine the stability of the competitive model for the market share of the operating system in Indonesia. The results of the study show that a competitive Lotka-Volterra model can be built on the Android and iOS operating system market share in Indonesia. In this model, there are four equilibrium points, one of which is unstable, and the other three equilibrium points are conditionally stable.

Mobile operating systems have expanded from running exclusively on smartphones to include tablets and music players as well, making them available to a larger audience. These operating systems are responsible for maintaining a multitude of schedules, messages, calls, music, documents, applications, photos, videos, and other personal data with the goal of increasing efficiency. Because of this, developers of mobile operating systems have built in configuration options to these operating systems to better protect the device from security vulnerabilities. However, not all of these operating systems have such settings turned on when the device is pulled out of the box. Furthermore, not all users are aware of how to best protect their information, nor the kind of issues that should be considered when owning and using these devices. This paper suggests best practices for the three major mobile platforms - Android, BlackBerry, and iOS - to mitigate and/or prevent unauthorized access, loss of information, and loss of confidentiality.

—The rapid advancement of mobile technologies has led to increasingly powerful and feature-rich devices, yet this progress has also intensified the challenge of managing energy consumption effectively. Power optimization has therefore become a critical focus in mobile operating systems (OS), aiming to balance performance, functionality, and energy efficiency. As mobile devices integrate more complex hardware components and resource-intensive applications, ensuring sustainable power usage has become essential for improving battery life, user experience, and environmental sustainability. This research explores the fundamental question: How can mobile operating systems intelligently manage hardware and software resources to minimize power consumption without compromising performance or usability? To address this, the study examines key power optimization strategies and mechanisms integrated within modern mobile OS architectures, including Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS), power-aware CPU scheduling, Doze and App Standby modes, adaptive display and sensor management, and network optimization. The research also investigates the role of advanced techniques such as context-aware power management and machine learning-based predictive models in achieving dynamic, intelligent energy control. Using tools like Trepn Profiler, PowerTutor, and Android Battery Historian, the study evaluates how power consumption patterns can be analyzed and optimized in real time. The findings reveal that combining hardware-level techniques (like voltage scaling and clock gating) with software-level optimizations (such as adaptive scheduling and contextual awareness) results in significant energy savings while maintaining user satisfaction. Furthermore, the study highlights emerging challenges, including the trade-offs between performance and energy efficiency, the integration of AI for predictive optimization, and the need for sustainability across the device lifecycle. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that power optimization in mobile operating systems is not merely a technical requirement but a cornerstone of sustainable computing. Through intelligent power management, future mobile OSs can achieve greater efficiency, extended device longevity, and reduced environmental impact aligning technological innovation with eco-efficiency and user-centric design.

The more years the number of thesis increases so that it requires a storage space the wider. The problem that is often faced by students is that the thesis search process needed as reference material takes a long time. From these problems it is necessary to make innovations by utilizing information technology. Mobile phones are not only used to call and send messages, but cellphones also have various other functions such as internet access, audio and video player media, and so on. Android is one of the operating systems for mobile phones among the development of other mobile operating systems such as Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry OS and others. In this study, we will build a repository application for an Android-based thesis search that is built by applying the Fuzzy String Matching algorithm. Fuzzy String Matching Algorithm is one of the string search methods that uses the approach process to the pattern of the string being searched for. Search for the same string and also the string that approaches the other strings collected in a container or dictionary. By utilizing the Fuzzy String Matching algorithm in the thesis search application on informatics engineering, it is expected to be able to search quickly and efficiently.

Mobile Internet Device (MID), as a portable handheld device, becomes a strong candidate for client-side computing. Android is a mobile operating system, being accepted as the operating system and a platform for MID applications. However, MID has a limited resource and computing power, and Android has an architecture and its components which are not commonly found in other operating systems and platforms. Hence, there is a demand for effective methodologies for modeling and implementing Android-based MID applications. In this paper, we present a practical and systematical process for develop applications for Android-based MID. Our process utilizes both object-oriented and service-oriented engineering principles while considering features of MID and the architecture of Android.

Ownership of a smartphone has never been easier nowadays, and it is supported by the fact that most of the people around us have a smartphone or an equivalent smart device. What is smartphone and why is it a smart? A smartphone by definition is as the name suggests, it is a phone is smart enough to not only be limited to the features and capabilities of a traditional cellular phone but also perform what a “smart” device can. And in recent years, the device that is deemed as the most intelligent device is the computer as it is the most advance piece of technology that is commercially available to the general public. Why this is so, is because in our opinion it has revolutionized how most if not all of the societies of today work. Hence what makes a smartphone is the mobile operating system that it is built upon, which is similar to a computer. It is becoming more and more of a common sight nowadays and this is because they are being offered at a price where more people are able to afford, hence they are reaching the hands of ceiling of the lower income families, all the way up to the higher income families. Back then, pure play devices were mostly simple in terms of how it function and works, hence if possible, we could suggest that the security aspect was never or rather has never been an issue other than the alteration of data after operation such as the tape of video recorders or images captured but never in the process, in the sense that there were no interruptions during operation, most likely is because it was clear and visible, but nowadays when you combine all of those devices into a complex entity, we tend to leave a hole in the cloth somewhere that we did not or rather can’t see due to the overwhelming amount of other things that we have. In this paper we discuss the current state of the commercially available operating systems of the two biggest names in smart devices, namely iOS and Android; and measure how secure and/or vulnerable (susceptible) are they to malwares and the nature of the mobile ad hoc network. We first analyze the integrity of the core of a smart device, the operating system and then use it to evaluate the effectiveness of their techniques and defenses of preventing and identifying malwares.

With the rapid advancements of electronics, the mobile operating system can accommodate various applications, which greatly facilitates people's everyday life.With a user group of more than 2 billion, the Android platform provides a diverse ecosystem for developing and publishing all sorts of applications.Although Google's official application store, Google Play, contains over 2 million apps, such a huge market also attracts hackers to make profits through distributing malware.Mobile malware has rocketed since 2009.As reported by Broadcom Inc., an industry-leading security company, 2017 witnessed an increase of new mobile malware strains, com-pared with the year of 2016.Additionally, more profitdriven malware emerged with the growth of underground markets.Due to the fragmentation problem of the Android plat-form, Android has long been the most targeted operating system suffering from attacks.To keep pace with the cutting-edge antimalware countermeasures adopted by cybersecurity businesses, malware developers have abused high-level obfuscation, virtual environment recognition, conditional execution (logic bomb), run-time payload dropping, etc., to fool their opponents (i.e., security defending products and reverse engineering tools).These techniques are usually more obvious to trace during the evolution and diversification of a malware family.In this thesis, we take a close look into both recent Android trojans and one specific family of Android banking trojan, that infiltrates banking applications to steal credentials or trick victims to type in their usernames and passwords through displaying fake login interfaces.The results indicate that Android Trojans evolves towards possessing more malicious capabilities and more diverse permutations without losing their core design, which would cause more limitations and ineffectiveness for modern security solutions.

Statistics hold that 80% of the mobile applications are deleted after just one-time use. A significant reason for this can be attributed to the quality of the mobile application, thus impressing on the need for testing a mobile application before it is made available on the app stores. At the same time, the mobile application lifecycle time is shrinking. So while operating systems used to get release about once in a couple of years, mobile operating systems get updated within months. And talking of apps, new apps are expected to be built and released in a matter of weeks. This impresses the need for automated mechanisms to do mobile testing. The space of mobile application testing is challenging owing to the variety of phone devices, the operating systems and the conditions under which an app can be used by the user in the wild. This chapter is focused on tools and techniques that are used for automated testing of mobile applications.

Проведено огляд та аналіз літературних джерел, в яких досліджено явища старіння програмного забезпечення. Процес старіння охарактеризовано як погіршення продуктивності і збільшення кількості відмов, що має негативний вплив на показники надійності програмного забезпечення. Встановлено, що помилки програмного забезпечення та їх накопичення протягом виконання програми є причиною виникнення старіння програмного забезпечення. Визначено основні поняття та характеристики, що стосуються явища старіння, зокрема ефекти, чинники та метрики старіння, час до виснаження ресурсів, час до відмови старіння та робоче навантаження. Розглянуто класифікацію чинників старіння програмного забезпечення. Встановлено, що чинники можуть бути загальні для всіх систем і спеціальні для конкретних систем, зокрема мобільних. Здійснено порівняльний аналіз основних методів та підходів до моделювання процесу старіння програмного забезпечення. З'ясовано, що розроблення гібридних підходів та моделей, які включають переваги аналітичних моделей та моделей на основі вимірювань, є перспективним напрямом у вивченні проблеми старіння ПЗ. Показано, що мобільні операційні системи та додатки є особливо чутливими до ефектів старіння, оскільки вони працюють тривалий час без перезавантаження та часто мають обмежені ресурси, такі як пам'ять. Обґрунтовано актуальність урахування впливу цього явища для забезпечення надійності сучасних мобільних і вбудованих систем.

This paper presents a method of device type verification via network behavior examination. This work is compared to methods and applications like nMap or xProbe, because it is capable of discerning mobile operating systems (OS) by using both active and passive network traffic. Our approach, which is based on repeatable experiments, suggests that the three major mobile OS vendors (i.e., Android, iOS, and Microsoft) down throttle the network response of some network traffic sent to them (e.g., ICMP pings) or requested by them (e.g., streaming TCP/IP) in different ways, likely to conserve battery power. Consequently, it affects the network behavior of the devices and how they handle certain events. We took the following steps as a proof-of-concept: (1) ICMP packets are actively sent to (i.e., ping) or (2) passively received by (i.e., streaming video) Android, iOS, and Microsoft mobile devices, (3) the resulting network traffic is analyzed, and (4) machine learning methods are trained to discern among the three OS types. We demonstrate that this method works well using either actively or passively generated network traffic. This method is more flexible than methods that rely solely on MAC addresses or other historical analysis methods for the identification of mobile OS type.

Mobiles are an integral part of daily life. With time, customers are expecting good and very versatile applications in less time. It is a big challenge to develop high performance mobile applications in this competitive market that would meet the expectation of customers. Mobile operating systems vendors are giving their best available resources for making applications in more convenient ways, although the development of new applications for each mobile operating system in short time is fairly a problem. Cross-platform mobile application development tools contribute in solving this problem largely. This paper presents a pragmatic comparison among four very popular cross platform tools, which are Rhodes, PhoneGap, DragonRad and MoSync. One of the main focuses of the comparison is to provide an overview on the availability of application programming interfaces, programming languages, supported mobile operating systems, licences, and integrated development environments. Furthermore, it also presents some critical points such as the factor of extensibility in tools and the effects that they may bring on market share. The comparison is aimed at supporting developers to make the right choice with respect to their needs/constraints.

There are numerous initiatives to use mobile devices as so-called “trusted pocket signers” to produce electronic signatures. The actual signature is generated by means of a conventional signature card. The mobile device serves as the card reader, storage device for the document to be signed and as a display for the signature application. The operating system used on the mobile device has thus a pivotal importance to ensure the integrity and accountability of the electronic signature. Also mobile devices are used to provide mobile workers with access to the corporate backend. We examined the currently available mobile operating systems in regard to their security and conclude that not a single one is secure enough for "trusted" signing and only partially for secure backend access.
