A Hybrid Approach and Implementation on Root Cause Analysis Logic Model for Enterprise Software Application

Software application becomes critical tool in a business operation today. Generally there is no management staff in the business operation can tolerate the software application downtime beyond the Service Level Agreement (SLA). The time duration spent on root cause analysis activity of software application error carries crucial impact to the business transaction. This is because business operation cannot afford if the software application downtime gets prolonged. Especially an enterprise level of software application is involving multiple tiers. There will be at least one or even more log files at each tier. Of course the root cause analysis activity will easily get prolonged as more than one log file are required for analysis activity. The research is not only to mitigate the time duration prolonging on root cause analysis activity. It is also to increase the accuracy of identifying the actual root cause during analysis activity. This is a necessity to have a proposed logic model sitting at the logic tier. The logic model can analyze the required log files, and then identify the root cause without creating any interruption to the existing software application executing in the production environment. Therefore, this is the strong reason for a Prescriptive Analytical Logic Model (PAL) incorporated with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) proposed. The proposed logic model will contribute a new knowledge in the area of log file analysis. It aligns with the two research objectives, (1) to shorten the total time spent on root cause analysis activity by adopting the decision making process and technique of AHP, (2) to reduce the frequency of attempt by increasing the accuracy of identifying the actual root cause. Furthermore, this proposed logic model contributes the new knowledge to close the existing knowledge gap of software application root cause analysis using AHP.

Pandih Batu 1 Public High School, is one of the State Senior High Schools in Pandih Batu District, Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, to be precise on Jl. Pemdinding Desa Pangkoh Hulu. So far, the activities carried out by the OSIS as well as extracurricular activities at Pandih Batu 1 Public High School are still managed manually, such as in the election of new OSIS chair candidates at Pandih Batu 1 Public High School still using conventional methods, namely direct voting, do not take advantage of information technology. In overcoming these problems, the author intends to build an information system for the management of the Pandih Batu 1 State Senior High School student council called SI-OSIS. The title that will be raised by the author in this final project research is "Design and Build a Website Management of Student Council Information Systems and Extracurriculars at Pandih Batu 1 Public High School" with the hope that it will become a new tool and alternative that can facilitate the management of Pandih Batu 1 Public High School Student Council to become more sophisticated in the era of information technology that has been digitized so that students at SMA Negeri 1 Pandih Batu are not left behind with current information technology developments. The data collection methods used by the author are observation, interviews, and library research. As business services become increasingly dependent on information technology (IT), it also becomes increasingly important to maximize the decision support for managing IT. Configuration Management Data Bases (CMDBs) store fundamental information about IT systems, such as the system's hardware, software and services. This information can help provide decision support for root cause analysis and change impact analysis. We have worked with our industrial research partner, CA, and with CA customers to identify challenges to the use of CMDBs to semi-automatically solve these problems. In this paper we propose a framework called DRACA (Decision Support for Root Cause Analysis and Change Impact Analysis). This framework mines key facts from the CMDB and in a sequence of three steps combines these facts with incident reports, change reports and expert knowledge, along with temporal information, to construct a probabilistic causality graph. Root causes are predicted and ranked by probabilistically tracing causality edges backwards from incidents to likely causes. Conversely, change impacts can be predicted and ranked by tracing from a proposed change forward along causality edges to locate likely undesirable impacts.

In the era of information technology (IT), there is no business can survive without leveraging IT services. This approach extends the competition concept beyond the classic terms. This article illustrates the crucial role of IT and business alignment on organizational performance based on a comprehensive set of previous scientific studies. This article clarifies to what extent strategic planning alignment between both business and IT can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational agility by identifying major benefits on the internal and external levels of organizations. On the other hand, it draws attention to challenges like cultural differences and communication gaps that prevent this alignment. Recommendations are provided for fostering a collaborative culture, investing in training, and adopting adaptive strategies hand in hand with emphasizing the need for continuous assessments and integration with emerging technologies to maintain alignment and sustainability.

Objective. The study sought to examine the progress of teaching library and information science in several Jordanian universities from their establishment till the present (1921–2022). The study aimed to provide a comprehensive analysis of the development and challenges faced by library and information science programs in Jordan, specifically focusing on the Bachelor's and Master’s Degree programs offered by the Department of Library and Information Technology (DLIT) at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. Methods. The study employed a descriptive and content analysis methodology to examine the initial stages of establishing the first professional program in teaching library and information science in the late 1970s. The analysis focused on developing the newly created master's program in Information Management and Digital Archiving within the Department of Library and Information Technology in the Faculty of Arts at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University. Results. That academic programs of the four universities lack collaboration and synchronization in enhancing their curricula and teaching methodologies. Currently, there is a lack of sufficient, contemporary, and thorough research or study on the significance of this problem within the higher education system. There is a requirement for greater collaboration and organization among faculty members in Jordan's four universities to evaluate the current situation and propose more efficient approaches to improve teaching in libraries, information, documentation, and digital archiving. In the fields of library, information, and digital archiving the sciences in Jordan are always developing and improving. The Department of Library and Information Technology at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University is experiencing notable progress in its programs to align with the era of information technology. Conclusions. The primary objective of every academic program should be to bridge the disparity between the requirements and competencies of library professionals while considering the pertinent and up-to-date advancements in information technology, telecommunications, and digital transformation.

We have known for decades that IT projects often fail. The usual explanation is that the cause is poor project management, poor cost estimation, poor requirements, etc. But how can we prevent these causes? To answer this question, it is not sufficient to know that there was poor project management, etc. Would it suffice to educate better project managers? And what would we have to teach them that they don't learn today? We have to know what actually took place in the projects, identify the root causes, and find ways to prevent them (cures). This is similar to accident investigations in aviation. This paper reports the results of five accident investigations of large government IT projects in Denmark. We identified 37 root causes and 22 potential cures. Surprisingly, only one of the causes is programming-related. Each project suffered from around 15 of the causes. Twenty-seven of the causes are not reported in the research literature on IT project failures (e.g. surprises with system integration and wrong estimate of human performance). Half of the cures are familiar to developers, but were ignored in the specific project (example: usability test). The rest are unfamiliar (e.g. problem-oriented requirements and monitoring remaining work).

An Indonesia manufacturing company producing Airbus wing parts experienced losses of more than $100,000 in 2017. The production of A 380 wing parts contributed to 73% of the total losses, and 37% came from parts production of A 350 and A 320. The study focused on the most significant contribution losses of A 380 wing parts that is Drive Rib 1. This paper aims at examining the root cause of the loss in A 380-Program, solving the root cause by proposing the alternative solution, and improving the performance in A 380 Program. By conducting the interview and archival data, the data were analyzed employing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to discover the root cause of problems. Low reliability of the production machine (DGAL Cincinnati Milacron) was identified as a root cause indicated by Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) at 50.3% used since the 1980s. According to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), this study proposes three alternative business solutions (autonomous maintenance, quality maintenance, and machine replacement). By considering the results of OEE and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) with three criteria (cost, benefit, and implementation), the problem-solution proposes two approaches, namely conducting the autonomous maintenance with an improvement of OEE about 7% for the short term period and organizing the machine replacement with a significant OEE improvement about 17.1%.

In the era of Information Technology (IT), IT basically refers to all forms of technology that involves electronic data in any form.It includes collection of data, storing it in proper format, processing it as well as circulation of Information. With the advancement in IT industry new peripheral devices have been evolved to store the data that can connect to a business computer terminal, especially via a USB port through devices such as Hard disk, Pen drives etc. Due to portability and accessibility, previously USB mass storage device/Pen Drive was preferred by individuals, enterprises as well as government but with the advancement of technology, there is a dark side of technology which is also increasing simultaneously in the last few years in the name of cybercrime. Various organizations have lost their sensitive or confidential information due to USB flash memory stick. Due to this, most of them banned the use of USB device. In this paper we present a solution to this data theft problem which will automatically fetch & store the Unique ID (Serial Number) of mass storage USB device/Pen drive and keep record in database to monitor registered user/device as well as anonymous device. We do recognize the patter of all connected anonymous device all over the intranet and represent it in a graphical form.

Under the influence of globalization, society is becoming more and more open, the achievements of science and technology penetrate into all spheres of society and are introduced without any restrictions, the boundaries of national, local and global civilizations are erased, in such circumstances a harmonious combination of global and national values is an important issue of ensuring national security. The article discusses general concepts about civilization, the main stages of development of civilization, challenges and risks for traditional civilization and values in the modern era of information technology. Particular attention is paid to revealing the traditional and modern values of the Mongolian nomadic civilization. At present, in the era of globalization, ensuring the security of national civilization, its intellectual immunity by preserving and developing its unique values is the main task of the development of the Mongolian nation.

Is study providing a profound insight into the impact of information technology on the inquiry-based learning abilities of animation students. With the continuous advancement of information technology, the evolution of educational methods becomes crucial in nurturing students' inquiry-based learning (IBL) skills, particularly in creative fields such as animation. It underscores information technology's significant role and multifaceted influence on inquiry-based learning. The development of information technology has a positive impact on sparking students' interest in learning, enhancing their learning capabilities, and cultivating innovative thinking among animation majors. Through this study, we better understand how to cultivate inquiry-based learning abilities among animation students in the era of information technology and provide educators with some recommendations to better meet the skills and competencies required for students' future careers. This research holds significant importance in driving innovation and creative thinking in animation.

Heterogeneous processors that mix big high performance cores with small low power cores promise excellent single-threaded performance coupled with high multi-threaded throughput and higher performance-per-watt. A significant portion of the commercial multicore heterogeneous processors are likely to have a common instruction set architecture( ISA). However, due to limited design resources and goals, each core is likely to contain ISA extensions not yet implemented in the other core. Therefore, such heterogeneous processors will have inherent functional asymmetry at the ISA level and face significant software challenges. This paper analyzes the software challenges to the operating system and the application layer software on a heterogeneous system with functional asymmetry, where the ISA of the small and big cores overlaps. We look at the widely deployed Intel® Architecture and propose solutions to the software challenges that arise when a heterogeneous processor is designed around it. We broadly categorize functional asymmetries into those that can be exposed to application software and those that should be handled by system software. While one can argue that new software written should be heterogeneity-aware, it is important that we find ways in which legacy software can extract the best performance from heterogeneous multicore systems.

Information and communication technology appears to have had a profound impact on language use in Japan. An important issue arising from this is said to be the increase in the use of Chinese characters (kanji) outside the official standard. This development has made a re-appraisal of the existing script policy necessary in order to accommodate the changes in kanji usage. To determine the nature and extent of the changes, it is necessary to compare the use of kanji in the information and communication technology era with that in the past. However, not many longitudinal surveys of texts have been done making it difficult to determine the extent to which kanji use has increased and deviated from the existing standard after the development of information and communication technology. This paper is based on a longitudinal study carried out to determine the changes in the proportions of kanji use during the information and communication technology era and before, with a special focus on the use of kanji outside the Joyo List (the current guide for kanji use in all public, non-specialist writing). The study examined the changes in kanji proportions by using topic-controlled news texts published in the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun from the 1940s to the 2000s. The study found that the proportion of non-Joyo kanji was minimal right across the period that was investigated and that it remained stable after the development of information and communication technology. The study also found that the proportions of general kanji used in the information and communication technology era was higher than that in the past. However, there were also some unexpected results. Kanji use at the end of the era was lower than what it was at the beginning. Also, apart from an increased use in the 1980s, kanji use remained fairly stable from the 1960s to the 2000s. Although the findings in the study are limited to news texts written about a particular topic, they were generally supported by past research based on other topics and other types of media.

In the era of information technology, the approach of teaching Arabic language teachers in developing speaking skills must change. Currently, the traditional methods used in teaching speaking skills in Arabic are considered outdated and less developed compared to modern techniques used in teaching other languages. Arabic language teachers should take advantage of available technology, such as the internet, to make the process of learning speaking skills more engaging, creative, and motivating. The use of the internet in teaching speaking skills is considered an important step in developing the learning process. Teachers can utilize various internet resources to present interactive and engaging lessons that stimulate student participation and enhance their understanding of the topics discussed. Multimedia resources such as instructional videos and interactive resources on the internet can be used to expand students' understanding and stimulate them to learn more effectively. Study results indicate that speaking skill learning methods and internet-based media have a significant impact on improving students' speaking skills. These modern methods can make the learning process more effective and suitable for students' needs in the era of information technology.

Organisations believe that IT projects are the key to deliver solution in any challenges they have. Consciously or unconsciously, many organisations focuses more on technology, and take for granted that IT Project does not happen in isolation. The deployments of IT projects are results of people's action which are carried out through processes. IT projects are intended for the support ad enabling of organisation's processes and activities, primarily for sustainability and competitive advantage. As these events (human actions and the processes that they followed) occur and reoccur, different kinds of risks are potential associates. Unfortunately, not all risks are visible or could be easily detected. Even those that are clearly diagnosed, are not as simple as thought in articulation and management. This could be attributed to lack of understanding of the root cause or its manifestations. Hence it was of vital importance to make use of a lens (of actor network theory) in the data analysis.
