Embeddings into countably compact Hausdorff spaces
UDC 515.122 We consider the problem of characterization of topological spaces embedded into countably compact Hausdorff topological spaces. We study the separation axioms for subspaces of Hausdorff countably compact topological spaces and construct an example of a regular separable scattered topological space that cannot be embedded into a Urysohn countably compact topological space.

We prove that for any separable Banach space $X$, there exists a compact metric space which is homeomorphic to the Cantor space and whose Lipschitz-free space contains a complemented subspace isomorphic to $X$. As a consequence we give an example of a compact metric space which is homeomorphic to the Cantor space and whose Lipschitz-free space fails the approximation property and we prove that there exists an uncountable family of topologically equivalent distances on the Cantor space whose free spaces are pairwise non isomorphic. We also prove that the free space over a countable compact metric space has the Schur property. These results answer questions by G. Godefroy.

GENERALIZED FRÉCHET-URYSOHN SPACES
In this paper, we introduce some new properties of a topological space which are respectively generalizations of -Urysohn property. We show that countably AP property is a sufficient condition for a space being countable tightness, sequential, weakly first countable and symmetrizable, to be ACP, , first countable and semimetrizable, respectively. We also prove that countable compactness is a sufficient condition for a countably AP space to be countably . We then show that a countably compact space satisfying one of the properties mentioned here is sequentially compact. And we show that a countably compact and countably AP space is maximal countably compact if and only if it is . We finally obtain a sufficient condition for the ACP closure operator to be a Kuratowski topological closure operator and related results.

It is proved that every infinite dimensional separable Banach space having the separable extension property is isomorphic to c0. It is also proved that every Banach space with a separable dual is “close” to a space of continuous functions on a countable compact space.

This thesis consists of four independent papers. In the first paper, joint with Kechris, we study the global aspects of structurability in the theory of countable Borel equivalence relations. For a class K of countable relational structures, a countable Borel equivalence relation E is said to be K-structurable if there is a Borel way to put a structure in K on each E-equivalence class. We show that K-structurability interacts well with various preorders commonly used in the classification of countable Borel equivalence relations. We consider the poset of classes of K-structurable equivalence relations for various K, under inclusion, and show that it is a distributive lattice. Finally, we consider the effect on K-structurability of various model-theoretic properties of K; in particular, we characterize the K such that every K-structurable equivalence relation is smooth. In the second paper, we consider the classes of Kn-structurable equivalence relations, where Kn is the class of n-dimensional contractible simplicial complexes. We show that every Kn-structurable equivalence relation Borel embeds into one structurable by complexes in Kn with the further property that each vertex belongs to at most Mn := 2n-1(n2+3n+2)-2 edges; this generalizes a result of Jackson-Kechris-Louveau in the case n=1. In the third paper, we consider the amalgamation property from model theory in an abstract categorical context. A category is said to have the amalgamation property if every pushout diagram has a cocone. We characterize the finitely generated categories I such that in every category with the amalgamation property, every I-shaped diagram has a cocone. In the fourth paper, we prove a strong conceptual completeness theorem (in the sense of Makkai) for the infinitary logic Lω1ω: every countable Lω1ω-theory can be canonically recovered from its standard Borel groupoid of countable models, up to a suitable syntactical notion of equivalence. This implies that given two theories (L,T) and (L',T'), every Borel functor Mod(L',T') → Mod(L,T) between the respective groupoids of countable models is Borel naturally isomorphic to the functor induced by some L'ω1ω-interpretation of T in T', which generalizes a recent result of Harrison-Trainor, Miller, and Montalban in the case where T, T' are ℵ0-categorical.

ON GENERALIZED VECTOR QUASI-VARIATIONAL TYPE INEQUALITIES
Abstract. In this paper, we consider and study a new class of general-ized vector quasi-variational type inequalities and obtain some existencetheorems for both under compact and noncompact assumptions in topo-logical vector spaces without using monotonicity. For the noncompactcase, we use the concept of escaping sequences. 1. IntroductionThe vector variational inequality problem was initiated by Giannessi [11] in nite dimensional Euclidean spaces with applications. Later on many authors[6, 7, 12, 15, 24] generalized vector variational inequalities in abstract spacesin several ways. The vector variational-like inequality is one of the generalizedforms of vector variational inequalities [11]. In 1989, Parida et al [19] stud-ied the existence of solutions for variational-like inequalities in R n space andhave shown a relationship between variational like inequalities problems andconvex programming as well as with complementarity problems. The vectorvariational like inequality and generalized vector variational like inequality arepowerful tools to study non-convex vector optimization problems and convexand nondi erentiable vector optimization problems respectively, see [10, 18, 21].In 1973, Bensoussan and Lions [3] introduced the quasi-variational inequalityproblem (QVIP). Since then, many generalizations of the QVIP have beenappeared in the literature (see, for example, [1, 2]). In the last decade, becauseof applications in the optimization problems, mathematical programming andequilibrium problems, the QVIP has been intensively studied by many authors[5, 8, 16, 20, 22, 23, 25].In this paper, we consider the generalized vector quasivariational type in-equality problem (GVQVTIP) and obtain some existence theorems for solutions
Read moreGrowth estimates for conformal mappings and for positive harmonic functions in space
This thesis falls naturally into two distinct parts. Both come under the general heading of the theory of conformal mapping though the later part incorporates work in potential theory. We first study the growth of means of the logarithmic derivative of a univalent function in the disc. Here results have been obtained by Hayman and by Baernstein and Brown. Hayman has shown that an elementary upper bound for the growth of these means is best possible in general. Later on, Baernstein and Brown showed that the means of certain classes of monotone slit mappings, including support points of the class S of normalised univalent functions, grow no faster than those of the Koebe function up to a multiplicative constant. The question remained open for unrestricted monotone slit mappings. We settle this question by constructing a monotone slit mapping the mean of whose logarithmic derivative grows faster than that of the Koebe function. Following this, we discuss some recent work by Burdzy on the boundary behaviour of positive harmonic functions in Lipschitz domains and applications of this work to the angular derivative problem. Burdzy obtains his results on the angular derivative by probabilistic methods. Rodin and Warschawski later gave a classical proof of part of Burdzy’s main result and related his criteria for the existence of an angular derivative to criteria which they had used previously. They were, however, unable to obtain a non-probabilistic proof of the full theorem. Using a new non-probabilistic method, we prove a theorem on the growth of positive harmonic functions vanishing near a boundary point of a Lipschitz domain. The plane case of this result and some special cases in space were proved by Burdzy in a series of articles. He went on to prove the full result in space in a later paper with R. J. Williams. Our result enables us to give an elementary proof of the remainder of Burdzy’s theorem on the angular derivative and so complements Rodin and Warschawski’s work. We complete our study of this problem by proving two further related results on the boundary behaviour of positive harmonic functions in Lipschitz domains. It is likely that the methods used will be helpful in problems of a similar nature.

Vectorial Ekeland Variational Principle and Cyclically Antimonotone Equilibrium Problems
In this article, we extend the cyclic antimonotonicity from scalar bifunctions to vector bifunctions. We find out a cyclically antimonotone vector bifunction can be regarded as a family of cyclically antimonotone scalar bifunctions. Using a pre-order principle (see Qiu, 2014), we prove a new version of Ekeland variational principle (briefly, denoted by EVP), which is quite different from the previous ones, for the objective function consists of a family of scalar functions. From the new version, we deduce several vectorial EVPs for cyclically antimonotone equilibrium problems, which extend and improve the previous results. By developing the original method proposed by Castellani and Giuli, we deduce a number of existence results (no matter scalar-valued case, or vector-valued case), when the feasible set is a sequentially compact topological space or a countably compact topological space. Finally, we propose a general coercivity condition. Combining the general coercivity condition and the obtained existence results with compactness conditions, we obtain several existence results for equilibrium problems in noncompact settings.
