A web service-based multi-disciplinary collaborative simulation platform for complicated product development

This study aimed to evaluate 2 advanced methods for presurgical calculation of bilateral alveolar cleft defect volume using 3-dimensional (3D) printing and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software. Twelve patients with bilateral alveolar cleft (4 females, 8 males, age range 8-11 years) were enrolled in the study. All patients underwent preoperative helical computed tomography scans, and the digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) data of the computed tomography images were analyzed using 3D printing and CAE software. The 3D-printed model used a simulated graft, and graft volume was measured by water displacement. The CAE software used a subtractive method to calculate volume. Simulated graft volumes and CAE-software-derived volumes were compared using Pearson's correlation test and paired Student's t-test. The average volume of the simulated bone grafts obtained using 3D-printed models was 1.45 mL, which was lower than the CAE-software-derived mean volume of 1.52 mL. The mean calculation time using the 3D-printed model was 51.5 minutes, which was 32.1 minutes longer than the average 19.4 minutes when using CAE software. Paired Student's t-test revealed no statistically significant difference between the volumes derived from these methods. The results of this study further validated the use of 3D printing and CAE technique in bilateral alveolar defect repair. The CAE software is more cost-effective in presurgical volumetric assessment. Moreover, 3D models overcome limitations of 3D visualizations by providing tactile feedback and superior appreciation of visuospatial relationships among anatomical structures.

A framework is formulated for the design and development of a user friendly CAE (computer aided engineering) package for drive system dynamics. The authors describe the design principles and algorithms of such a modular CAE package and its implementation on a personal computer. An effort has been made to fill the need for an interactive simulation to assess the torque ripple, losses, efficiency, torque and speed responses, and their bandwidth, as well as the suitability of the drive system for a specific application. One such CAE package, PMBD, has been developed, and key results using the package are presented to highlight the implemented features. Standardization is intended to overcome the last hurdle in the integration of computer aided software engineering (CASE) in an open system environment. Since there are numerous CASE and CASE related standard efforts currently under development on national and international levels, there is a wide spectrum of overlapping CASE standards research that must be identified and evaluated as to its specific present and future implications. Primarily the effects of CASE standards as they pertain to CASE vendors and users are discussed, along with the integration options of modern system development environments. >

Computer-aided software engineering (CASE) has become an important part of the information technology landscape and software development activities. While researchers have examined the productivity gains associated with CASE, relatively little attention has been accorded to one of the critical elements of CASE: the repository. The CASE repository is considered to be the cornerstone of CASE technology platforms. Therefore, any plan for CASE tool implementation must include a plan for building and managing the repository. Yet, significant challenges are encountered in efforts to fashion the CASE repository as an active source of relevant systems development knowledge in organizations. This study investigates the influence of factors that are believed to facilitate knowledge embeddedness within the CASE repository. Knowledge embeddedness refers to the extent to which relevant systems development knowledge in an organization has been codified and stored within the CASE repository. Data drawn from 176 firms employing CASE environments are used to investigate the relative influence of these factors. The results indicate that management support, methodology influence, time since adoption, and external knowledge links enable success in knowledge embeddedness.

This paper describes a course developed to teach software design with a focus on the use of computer-aided software engineering (CASE) environments. Commercial CASE tools were acquired and used in a classroom environment in response to the needs expressed by local industry. The paper assesses the benefits and problems associated with placing emphasis on CASE tools in a software engineering course. Using mature CASE environments brings one kind of realism to the students' project experience, but the complexity of learning a design methodology and complex tools places limits on the scope of design projects that can be assigned. Design recovery tools show promise for helping students learn design principles. In addition, assignments in which students carried out independent assessments of various CASE tools were found to be very valuable opportunities for students to practice written and oral expression, in addition to broadening their knowledge of CASE.

Opportunities and Obstacles in the Use of Case Technology: A Romanian Perspective

A computer aided engineering (CAE) approach is presented to study, investigate and verify the design primitives of a multiprocessing system for speedy engineering process. The multiprocessing system considered here consists of N processing elements, communicating with one another through a shared memory. An appropriate analytical model to represent the mechanism of the multiprocessing system is proposed to realize the CAE package. The proposed model meets with the requirement of being time efficient to run on a computer, which is necessary for a CAE system. The package is interactive, accepts various system design parameters and produces results in quantitative and graphical form. Typical results obtained from CAE package are the average system throughput, average processing element utilization, and average backlog etc.

Over the last dozen years, computer-aided software engineering (CASE) has continued to evolve and improve, but so has the state of software development research and its application in the commercial marketplace. What James Martin, in 1989, called “industrial-strength” CASE, was almost entirely PC-based. It was not even close to the two- and three-tier CASE architectures of 1996.

Computer-aided software engineering (CASE) Tools is a set of software that results in high-quality and maintainable software products. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is one of the most commonly used CASE tools for analyzing and expressing software requirements. Considerably, UML overcomes ambiguity limitation which results from infamous shortcoming of national language. However, how to express requirements of E-Commerce System is still a very challenging problem. In this paper, requirement analysis is highlighted by IBM Rational Rose and Microsoft Visio, and typical E-Commerce system by UML is investigated as well. At the end, a guideline generated for Jewellery E-Commerce (JEC) is presented by UML use cases, activity diagrams, and data flow diagrams in details.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in the national economy. MSMEs are a populist economic system that can help alleviate poverty, and their growth has the potential to expand the economic base and contribute significantly to improving the regional economy and national resilience. The large number of MSMEs can become government partners in resource management. The MSME development strategy focuses on the agricultural sector in Karawang Regency. The success or failure of government policies in advancing MSMEs in the agricultural sector in Karawang Regency depends heavily on leadership, work commitment, and service quality. No company can develop or operate well until MSME participants provide exceptional service quality, work commitment, and service leadership. Therefore, it is important to address service problems in the MSME sector, especially in the agricultural sector in Karawang Regency. The main objective of this study is to empirically investigate the impact of servant leadership and work dedication on service quality. Data were collected using an online survey distributed to 259 SMEs in the agricultural industry in Karawang Regency, Indonesia. Data were evaluated using SEM. Hypotheses were assessed directly and jointly using two-step Partial Least Squares (PLS) path modelling. Based on the research findings, servant leadership had a higher influence value of 30.5% in influencing service quality than work commitment, which had a value of 22.4%. Mediation testing using the Sobel test resulted in a t-statistic value of 2.33 1.96 and a one-sided p-value of 0.00 0.05. Work dedication is an effective mediating component to increase the impact of servant leadership on service quality.

Recent research on software development environments (SDE) and computer-aided software engineering (CASE) have not addressed the issue of multiple environments. This paper presents an approach for developing an integrated modelling environment (IME) that supports the maintenance of software environment models in software engineering. The approach uses the notion of a composite software development environment maintaining multiple software development environments. The composite is specified by analysing and identifying common features from other environments. These other environments include various government-supported efforts. The idea of a common software development environment may be supported in part by several different international standards or technical approaches (e.g. CAIS, CAIS-A, PCTE, ALMA/metasystems, object-oriented systems, and so forth). Some of these ways are outlined in the paper. An analysis of them in case study form is presented.

Modelling of I-CASE Platform

This research is motivated by the important role and features of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in surviving the economic crisis and the high contribution to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as well as when compared to large businesses. Even though it has a big role, MSMEs still have some problems, one of which is limitations on financial literacy. Limited literacy is a challenge in itself, considering that financial literacy can increase the ability to manage finances and access available financial products. In addition, this study also includes the used of digital finance variables because the 4.0 revolution has entered into everything that is digital-based. In addition, using these variables is also due to the emergence of optimism about the adopted telephone and internet. The used of digital finance in this study focuses more on payments produced by financial institutions and financial technology companies.The effects of these two variables on financial inclusion will then be examined considering their role in reducing the limited access to available financial services and thus encouraging economic growth. The city of Bandung is used as a research area. Bandung City was choosen because the large number of MSMEs and Bandung City MSMEs have their own characteristics. Based on the Dinas Koperasi dan UMKM Kota Bandung (2018), there are 5.242 micro businesses in Bandung City, 23 medium scale businesses, and 394 small-scale businesses so that the total number is 5.841 MSMEs. The research method used is explanative to explain the relationship between variables through purposive sampling so that 56 respondents were obtained. The purposive sampling technique using the following considerations: categorized micro, small and medium enterprises, business activities in Bandung city, and willing to provide the necessary information. In variable measurement, financial literacy is measured by knowledge related to finance and financial services, actions in making financial decisions, the ability to manage finances, tell financial concepts, and attitude in responding to financial related matters based on Bongomin, Munene, Ntayi, and Malinga (2017), Bongomin et al. (2016), Nkundabanyanga, Kasozi, Nalukenge, and Tauringana (2014), Kartawinata and Mubaraq (2018), and Sina (2017). Measurement the used of digital financial variable adapted based on Azam (2015), Zhou, Lu, and Wang (2010), and Qian, (2019) which consisted of perceptions of ease, benefits received, perceptions of used transfer activities, payments, and account management. Likewise financial inclusion, the measurement of which was adapted from Bongomin et al. (2017) and Bongomin et al. (2016) which consists of the ability to access financial services, using financial services, the quality of financial services, and the benefits obtained when using financial services.The data in this study are primary data with a questionnaire for further analysis using Partial Least Square (PLS). The Likert scale used in this study consists of 4 scales. The answer options strongly disagree are given value 1, disagree is given value 2, agree is given value 3, and strongly agree is given value 4 (Hermawan & Yusran, 2017; Martono, 2016). These four scales to reduce a neutral choice answers that do not show partiality towards positive or negative which results in a tendency not argue. PLS is used as a causality testing analysis tool due to the similarity of objectives with the research conducted and its used which can manage small amounts of samples. The minimum sample size in PLS is 10 samples on each line jalur (Abdillah & Hartono, 2015). In testing the hypothesis, a confidence level of 90 percent is used. Validity testing uses loading scores, AVE values, comparing indicator’s loading and cross loading, and comparison AVE roots with correlation. In this study also use reliability testing with composite reliability and KR-21 considering that the measurements carried out in the study were one measurement.The results show both variables have a positive influence and a very strong level of significance on financial inclusion. This result also supported by very strong evidence that can be seen through the p-value for each relationship. The results of the research prove that barriers to accessing these services can be minimized through increasing financial literacy so that can increase financial inclusion and be more developed. Therefore, a common problem experienced by MSME actors, namely low financial literacy, is a serious problem that can be overcome with training or coaching as consideration for solutions considering that financial literacy can open financial access to be more developed. Touching MSMEs with the used of digital finance will automatically open their ability to access available payment financial services and increasing financial inclusion.

Dinas Koperasi Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) pada Pemerintahan Kota Batam saat ini sedang giat-giatnya berusaha mengembangkan potensi usaha dengan menggandeng para UMKM. Pelaku usaha UMKM khususnya di daerag Batu Aji Kota Batam saat ini masih ada yang menggunakan manajemen dan administrasi pembukuan secara manual/tradisional dan masih banyak ditemukan kesalahan-kesalahan dalam pembukuan sehingga sulit untuk dewan pengawas menjalankan fungsi pengawasanya. Sehingga tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melakukan pembinaan dan penyuluhan secara komprehensip kepada UMKM yang ada di Kota Batam agar dapat menghasilkan UMKM yang mampu bersaing baik disisi kualitas produk yang dihasilkan, maupun dalam kualitas pelayanan. Dalam melaksanakan program pengabdian ini pengabdi menggunakan metode adalah melakukan pembinaan dengan penyuluhan dan sekaligus melakukan pelatihan tentang manajemen kewirausahaan, manajemen keuangan serta manajemen pemasaran kepada UMKM yang berada di wilayah Batu Aji Kota Batam. Dengan dilakukannya pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini, hasil yang didapat adalah para UMKM telah mampu me-manage usahanya (manajemen kewirausahaan), dan mengetahui tata kelola keuangan (manajemen keuangan) dengan menggunakan aplikasi menjadi zero kesalahan, dan para peserta UMKM dapat menerapkan ilmu pelatihan yang sudah didapatkan dalam manajemen pemasaran (administrasi) dalam mengembangkan produk (omset) yang berkualitas dan pelayanan yang efektif dan efisien. Abstract The Office of Cooperatives for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the Batam City Government is currently actively trying to develop business potential by cooperating with MSMEs. MSME business actors, especially in the Batu Aji area, Batam City, currently still use manual/traditional bookkeeping management and administration and there are still many errors in bookkeeping that make it difficult for the supervisory board to carry out its supervisory function. So that the purpose of this community service is to provide comprehensive coaching and counseling to MSMEs in Batam City so that they can produce MSMEs that are able to compete both in terms of the quality of the products produced, as well as in the quality of service. In carrying out this service program, the servant uses the method of conducting guidance with counseling and at the same time conducting training on entrepreneurship management, financial management and marketing management for MSMEs in the Batu Aji area of ​​Batam City. By doing this community service, the results obtained are that MSMEs have been able to manage their business (entrepreneurship management), and know financial governance (financial management) by using the application to become zero errors, and MSME participants can apply the training knowledge they have learned. obtained in marketing management (administration) in developing quality products (turnover) and effective and efficient services..

Additive manufacturing has opened the door to the creation of lightweight lattice structures. However, present Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) software are unsuitable for these types of structures. The objective of this research is to examine the performances of current CAD and CAE software to design lattice structures and to demonstrate their limitations and propose requirements for future developments. A performance evaluation of a case study for lattice structure designs was conducted. The criteria used for the evaluation were CAD human-machine-interface, RAM consumption, data exchange between CAD, CAE and CAM tools and finite element analysis (FEA) duration and file sizes. The CAD tool was incapable of executing a repetition function for octet-truss lattice structures of 150 x 150 x 150 mm dimensions or larger and the software stopped working. For 70 × 70 × 70 mm octet-truss lattice structure, the FEA computation file size reached 36.6 GB. The CAD file size of a 200 x 200 x 200 mm octet-truss lattice structure reached nearly 290 MB. In conclusion, this study exposes the performance inadequacy of current CAD and CAE tools and CAD file formats to design lattice structures for additive manufacturing parts.
