The Fifth Annual AAAI Mobile Robot Competition and Exhibition was held in Portland, Oregon, in conjunction with the Thirteenth National Conference on Artificial Intelligence. The competition consisted of two events: (1) Office Navigation and (2) Clean Up the Tennis Court. The first event stressed navigation and planning. The second event stressed vision sensing and manipulation. In addition to the competition, there was a mobile robot exhibition in which teams demonstrated robot behaviors that did not fit into the competition tasks. The competition and exhibition were unqualified successes, with nearly 20 teams competing. The robot competition raised the standard for autonomous mobile robotics, demonstrating the intelligent integration of perception, deliberation, and action.

The AAAI-99 Workshop Program (a part of the sixteenth national conference on artificial intelligence) was held in Orlando, Florida. The program included 16 workshops covering a wide range of topics in AI. Each workshop was limited to approximately 25 to 50 participants. Participation was by invitation from the workshop organizers. The workshops were Agent-Based Systems in the Business Context, Agents' Conflicts, Artificial Intelligence for Distributed Information Networking, Artificial Intelligence for Electronic Commerce, Computation with Neural Systems Workshop, Configuration, Data Mining with Evolutionary Algorithms: Research Directions (Jointly sponsored by GECCO-99), Environmental Decision Support Systems and Artificial Intelligence, Exploring Synergies of Knowledge Management and Case-Based Reasoning, Intelligent Information Systems, Intelligent Software Engineering, Machine Learning for Information Extraction, Mixed-Initiative Intelligence, Negotiation: Settling Conflicts and Identifying Opportunities, Ontology Management, and Reasoning in Context for AI Applications.

The Twentieth National Conference on Artificial Intelligence was held July 9-13, 2005, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The conference, which marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), received 803 submissions to the technical program. All papers were double-blind reviewed, and 150 papers were accepted for oral presentation, while 79 papers were accepted for poster presentation. The keynote address was delivered by Marvin Minsky.

We are privileged to have the opportunity to welcome you to the IEEE 3rd Global Conference on Life Sciences and Technologies (LifeTech 2021) in Nara. This conference will take place at Nara Royal Hotel. LifeTech 2021 will be held for three days from March 9th to 11th. Also, Welcome Reception Party on March 9th, Award Banquet on March 10th, and Closing Award Ceremony on March 11th are planned for the LifeTech attendees to interact and build up friendships with each other. LifeTech 2021 will have two award ceremonies; the Best Poster Presentations, the Best Student Poster Presentations, and the Best Demo Presentation will be awarded at the Award Banquet on March 10th, and the Best Papers, the Best Student Papers, and the Best WIE Paper will be awarded at the Closing Award Ceremony on March 11th. First of all our acknowledgments, we would like to express our appreciation to many Japanese academic institutes and societies for their great technical sponsorships. Their cooperation to call for papers made us receive more submissions than last year. Second, we would like to thank all of the Chairs, Advisers, the Technical Program Committee members, and many reviewers for their volunteered and dedicated work. Without their help here and abroad, the program could not have been assembled. Last but not least, we wish to thank all the speakers and other participants for their valuable contributions. I apologize in advance for any inconvenience at IEEE LifeTech 2021 caused by the lack of my leadership for organizing the conference. China has proposed the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), initiating a key turning point in the international finance system. Unfortunately, its design at present is quite problematic, for several reasons: it limits participation by Western countries, effectively locking in China as the undisputed leader; the lack of a Board of Directors in residence; the potential for a conflict of interest if the AIIB will fund projects within China; the potential of China to use AIIB for political purposes; the relationship the AIIB will have with already-existing international financial institutions; and the potential for a weakening of “best practices” in order to compete against the other international finance institutions. For these reasons, it was the right decision for Japan not to join as a charter member in order to negotiate the MOU; nevertheless, Japan should maintain the option of joining the AIIB in order to have leverage over the architecture of the AIIB.

This article aims to analyze the constitution of solidarity networks established based on an integrated system of cooperation, held in communities located on the east coast of Ceara State. The study is very provocative, in that the development of tourism known as community-based, we could observe the emergence of social ties established in those communities that directly or indirectly been organized along the lines of solidarity economy, a system which assumes a relationship of respectful exchange among tourists, local community and nature. For this paper we present partial results of research carried out in eight of twelve communities TUCUM Network - Community Tourism Network of Ceara. The study is designed as a reference, the system of the gift, a model of social exchange, suggested by Marcel Mauss (1974), based on a chain of gifts and counter gifts that can succeed indefinitely and that is the basis of relations of hospitality and also by the author Paulo Henrique Martins (2002) which depicts the bases of solidarity in modern society, through urban social practices. This is a qualitative research with explanatory case study, which uses the methods of formal interview, in addition to gathering information on documents and bibliographic sources. In the villages studied, the groups are organized in family-based design collective, the idealized community tourism is based on ethics and solidarity to establish trade relations and exchanges between the community and visitors, and management is based on building a relationship between society, culture and nature in favor of social and environmental sustainability. It may be noted that tourism activities in these areas are held by local communities through collaborative networks established from social ties created spontaneously as proposals for a management partnership that excels in the exchange of knowledge and experiences with each other, with the goal of developing knowledge and skills for all involved.

The Expert Working Group meeting of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries EWG 13-01 was held from 4 – 8 March 2013 in Dublin, Ireland, to continue the work of EWG 12-14 aiming to explore the salient issues surrounding technical measures. The report was reviewed by the STECF during its 42 plenary held from 8 to 12 April 2013 in Brussels (Belgium). It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 6th International Workshop on Location and the Web, associated with WWW 2016. This is the sixth workshop in its series, having previously been held at WWW (LocWeb 2008), CHI (LocWeb 2009), IoT (LocWeb 2010), CIKM (LocWeb 2014), and WWW (LocWeb 2015).LocWeb continues following its main objective of bringing together a community of researchers at the intersection of location and the Web, serving as a unique venue to integrate different backgrounds and stimulating the exchange of ideas and fostering closer cooperation. LocWeb will provide a topic-specific venue where researchers from different fields, be it data mining, recommendation, search, systems, services, social media, applications, or standards, can discuss and develop the role of location. Its focus lies in Web-scale services and systems facilitating location-aware information access. We aim for a highly interactive, collaborative workshop with ample room for discussion that will explore and advance the geospatial topic.The location topic is understood as a crosscutting issue equally concerning information access, semantics and standards, and Web-scale systems and services. The workshop establishes an integrated venue where the location aspect can be discussed in depth within an interested community. LocWeb follows the main theme of Location-Aware Information Access, with subtopics related to Search, Analytics, Mobility, Apps, Services, and Systems. It is designed to reflect the multitude of fields that demand and utilize location features from an interdisciplinary perspective.The call for papers attracted submissions from Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East. The program committee reviewed and accepted the following: Venue or Track Reviewed - 5, Accepted - 3.We encourage WWW attendees to attend the three accepted paper presentations, a keynote talk, and a discussion session.
