An efficient multi-objective QoS-routing algorithm for wireless multicasting

Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) has emerged as the self organized wire less interconnection for the various applications in random topology. As most of the multimedia applications require strict QoS guarantee during the communication between a single source and multiple destinations. How ever, achieving reliable multicast transmission in MANET is crucial due to the dynamic network topology caused by the node mobility. This gives rise to the need for an efficient multicast routing strategy. This paper proposes a novel scheme PBMRP-BR (position-based Multicast Routing Protocol for Ad-hoc Network Using Backpressure Restoration) for efficient transmission of multimedia applications in Ad-hoc Network, which provides priorities for routing based on Distance of path, Load at the node (ie, traffic) and queue length at the node(ie, bandwidth). It also keeps the path information including bandwidth resources of each node for routing decisions. The problem of the link failure in the channel during the call in progress thus lead in the degradation of the QoS (Quality of Service). To deal this we are using a Backpressure Technique The simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm is able to find a better solution, fast convergence speed and high reliability. The simulation results shows the proposed PBMRP-BR protocol achieve the above objectives and gives the batter results than previous schemes like DSR for the maintenance of overheads and the path reliability. Our proposed scheme will improve the bandwidth utilization by reducing the congestion in the Adhoc wireless network.

Performance evaluation of a mesh-evolving quality-of-service-aware multicast routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks

DiffServ-like domains bring new challenges to quality of service (QoS) multicast routing simply by shifting the focus from individual flows into classes of flows. Packets are marked at edge routers and receive differentiated treatment according to the class and not the flow that they belong to. DiffServ therefore became adverse to multicast, as packet replication inside the domain may require classification and remarking functions not present in core nodes. At the interdomain level, no doubt multicast QoS complexity is increased by the interleaving of DiffServ and non-Diffserv domains, making it more difficult to address QoS multicast in an end-to-end perspective. In today’s real interconnection world, classes of service have no meaning in certain links of a full interdomain path. While the problem is not new, as already pointed out, there are no real efforts to bring multicast back to a class-of-service domain without compromising its model of operation. In this article, we present an innovative multicast QoS routing strategy, clearly designed for the new class-of-service paradigm. The solution is based upon the construction of multiple trees, one per class of service available, while still allowing receivers to shift for source-specific trees in its own class of service. The strategy is presented in a full end-to-end perspective. Intradomain trees use differentiated routing paths thus helping traffic differentiation. Intradomain receivers are allowed to shift from shared trees into an adequate class-of-service source tree. At interdomain level, each class-of-service interdomain tree branch is accomplished by means of an improved path probing strategy enabling for QoS path establishment. This paper presents this new strategy, and associated protocols, for constructing several multicast and directed distribution trees, one per class of service, within each multicast group. This new strategy and associated protocols are then simulated using NS-2 platform. Simulation results are analyzed and compared with other multicast routing solutions, both at intra- and interdomain levels.

Multicasting is an efficient and effective approach for supporting content distribution based on the current Internet infrastructure. In this paper, we have proposed a source-initiated CRMA (cycle-breaking rollback multicast routing algorithm), which is a congestion-aware QoS (quality of service) based multicast routing algorithm. CRMA attempts to achieve the objective of minimizing network congestion conditions while satisfying bandwidth and end-to-end path delay requirements from users. Our proposed approach has several features: (1) it constructs a shared symmetric distribution tree for multicast source(s) and its members rather than the conventional approach of constructing multicast tree; (2) CRMA combines the multicast path computation with resource allocation through introducing the WFQ (weighted fair queuing) packet scheduling into path computation; (3) CRMA can be easily implemented and integrated into the common shortest path router architecture without a thorough adjustment. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrate that our CRMA can effectively reduce the cost, which is the reflection of network congestion conditions, of the computed multicast tree, compared to other proposed multicast routing schemes.

Multi-constrained Quality of Service (QoS) routing is to find a feasible path that satisfies multiple constraints simultaneously, which is a big challenge for Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) where the topology may change constantly. Most of the conventional protocols are designed to concentrate on either maximizing the throughput or decreasing the end-to-end delay. These single constrained QoS routing protocols have inherent shortcomings in real time applications where the communication requires meeting stringent requirements on delay, delay-jitter, cost and other QoS metrics. In this paper we propose an agent based Multi-Constrained QoS aware multicast routing scheme based on MAODV (MC_MAODV) which uses a set of static and mobile agent. It depicts QoS multicast model with multiple constraints which may deal with bandwidth reservation, delay constraint and packet loss to multicast session. Here the mobile agents are used to find multicast routes, create the backbone for a reliable multicasting and to adapt to dynamic topology. Multi-path strategy is introduced to reduce the time consumption of rerouting when the link fails due to node mobility. Also, the source node can utilize the best path for the data transmission to meet multiple QoS requirements. Extensive simulations have been conducted to evaluate the performance of MC_MAODV using Network Simulator (NS-2). The simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs better than traditional MAODV in terms of improving packet delivery ratio and minimizing end-to-end delay.KeywordsMANETsmulti-constrained routing multicastingclustersend-to-end delaypacket loss ratio

A theory for the design of deadlock-free adaptive routing algorithms for wormhole networks, proposed by the author (1991, 1993), supplies sufficient conditions for an adaptive routing algorithm to be deadlock-free, even when there are cyclic dependencies between channels. Also, two design methodologies were proposed. Multicast communication refers to the delivery of the same message from one source node to an arbitrary number of destination nodes. A tree-like routing scheme is not suitable for hardware-supported multicast in wormhole networks because it produces many headers for each message, drastically increasing the probability of a message being blocked. A path-based multicast routing model was proposed by Lin and Ni (1991) for multicomputers with 2D-mesh and hypercube topologies. In this model, messages are not replicated at intermediate nodes. This paper develops the theoretical background for the design of deadlock-free adaptive multicast routing algorithms. This theory is valid for wormhole networks using the path-based routing model. It is also valid when messages with a single destination and multiple destinations are mixed together. The new channel dependencies produced by messages with several destinations are studied. Also, two theorems are proposed, developing conditions to verify that an adaptive multicast routing algorithm is deadlock-free, even when there are cyclic dependencies between channels. As an example, the multicast routing algorithms of Lin and Ni are extended, so that they can take advantage of the alternative paths offered by the network.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>

A Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) is an autonomous system of mobile nodes connected by wireless links. There is no static infrastructure such as base station as that was in cell mobile communication. Due to the dynamic nature of the network topology and restricted resources, quality of service (QoS) and multicast routing in MANET is a challenging task. In this paper, we present an entropy-based model to support QoS multicast routing optimization algorithm in mobile ad hoc networks (EQMOA). The basic motivations of the proposed modeling approach stem from the commonality observed in the location uncertainty in mobile ad hoc wireless networks and the concept of entropy. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach and parameters provide an accurate and efficient method of estimating and evaluating the route stability in dynamic mobile networks.

In MANET, the multicast routing is considered as a non-deterministic polynomial (NP) complexity, it contains assorted objectives and restrictions. In the multicast issue of MANET, the Quality of services (QoS) based upon cost, delay, jitter, bandwidth, these are constantly deemed as multi-objective for intending multiple cast routing protocols. Conversely, mobile node has finite battery energy and the lifetime of network depending on its mobile node battery energy. If the mobile node has high battery energy consumption, it automatically reduces the network’s life time because of their route breaks. Alternatively, node’s battery energy has to be consumed to ensure higher level quality of services in multicast routing for transmitting the accurate data anywhere and anytime. Therefore, the network lifespan is deemed as multi-objective in the multicast routing (MR) problem. To overcome these issues, QoS and Dr. Valli Kumari Vatsavayi2 2Professor, Department of Electronic Communication and Engineering, Andhra University, visakhapatnam,Andhra Pradesh ,India. 2Email:vallikumariv001@yahoo.com Network Lifetime Aware Reliable Multicast Routing Protocol are proposed by applying Chaos integrated Cuckoo Search Rider Optimization Algorithm for effectual data transmission in MANET (QOS-MRP-CSROA-MANET). The proposed method is the joint execution of both the Cuckoo Search Algorithm with chaos theory (Chaotic-CSA) and Rider Optimization (ROA) algorithm and hence it is called as Chaotic-CSA-ROA, which is utilized to solve the MR problem of MANET. Here, the MR problem of MANET have five objectives, viz cost, delay, jitter, bandwidth, network lifetime are optimized with the help of Chaotic-CSA-ROA. Then the proposed method is simulated in NS2 simulator for validating the performance of the proposed QOS-MRP- CSROA-MANET system. Here, evaluation metrics, via delay, delivery ratio, drop, Network lifespan, overhead and throughput are analyzed with node, rate and speed. The proposed QOS-MRP-CSROA-MANET provide higher throughput in node as 32.9496% and 65.5839%, higher throughput in rate as 16.6049% and 30.4654%, higherthroughput in speed as 10.1298% and 7.0825%, low packet drop in node as 63.7313% and 52.2255%, low packet drop in rate as 51.5528% and 25.6220%, low packet drop in speed as 18.0857% and 24.5953% compared with existing methods, like QOS aware of multicast routing protocol using particle swarm optimization algorithm in MANET (QOS-MRP-PSOA-MANET) and QOS aware of multicast routing protocol using genetic algorithm in MANET (QOS-MRP-GA-MANET) respectively.

Future power grid architectures need to efficiently incorporate new small-scale renewable energy suppliers in addition to large-scale power plants. We introduce a multi-producer multi-consumer congestion model of a power supply network, where production and transmission costs depend on the congestion in corresponding nodes and arcs of the network graph. The consumer goal is to meet their energy demand by purchasing energy from multiple suppliers while minimizing costs. We formulate the cost minimization problems for energy consumers with the assumption of constant-per-unit profit for energy producers. By adding a fictitious node to the graph with arcs toward the supplier nodes, we can formulate a networking game with a single source and multiple destinations. We apply multicommodity atomic routing methods and results to this system model in order to investigate the existence, the uniqueness and the efficiency of Nash equilibria for certain classes of cost functions. The efficiency is established in a simple example of this framework with a star-shaped network topology. Finally, we discuss possible extensions of the model.

In this paper, a QoS (quality of service) multicast routing scheme in NGI (next generation Internet) is proposed based on genetic engineering and microeconomics. It can not only deal with network status inaccuracy, but also help prevent network overload and meet with intra-group fairness, trying to find a multicast routing tree with bandwidth, delay, delay jitter and error rate satisfaction degree, bandwidth availability degree and fairness degree achieved or approached Pareto optimum

With the growing demand of multimedia applications, quality of service (QoS) assured that multicast routing is an important issue in wireless mesh networks. Finding a multicast tree which satisfies the multiple constraints is a NP-Complete problem. In this paper, we propose a discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO) approach for finding the minimum tree cost from a given source to a set of destination with delay and bandwidth constraint. The concept of relative position base indexing (RPI) is used to convert a continuous space to discrete space for multicast routing. The simulation is carried out in NS-2.26 and the comparison is made with respect to tree cost under two scenarios, namely varying node mobility and increasing number of nodes. The results demonstrate that DPSO has better speed, performance, and efficiency than multicast routing based on genetic algorithm.

Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is a new efficiently idea of programmable networks that separates the control plane from data plane of all network devices. Internet service provider is responsible for all the control decisions and communication among the forwarding elements from centralized controller. SDN provides the various optimized services. Quality of service (QoS) routing is a path computation method that is suitable for the different traffics generated by several applications, while utilization of network resources has increased. This agreement of service is defined by QoS requirements such as throughput, delay, jitter and packet loss etc. Multimedia applications often require assured from multi QoS constrained, causing the NP-complete problem which cannot be simply solved in polynomial time and high management complexity in the transition network. SDN is able to reduce complexity and it is used to efficiently implement traffic, hence SDN significantly values to development QoS routing. In this paper, we propose QoS routing algorithm called Quantized Level Balance (QLB) for SDN that considers one or many QoS parameters relating to the network application. To satisfy the requirements, QLB selects QoS parameters depending to the level of appropriate application service quality. We have replicated our algorithm on simulate topology with Scalable Video-streaming Evaluation Framework (SVEF). We measure the Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Mean Opinion Score (MOS) of Scalable Video Coding (SVC) at the receiver. Our propose algorithm is improved than single-metric approach that may choose poor QoS parameter paths.

For multimedia applications, the routing algorithms should consider many Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. However, to find routes with two or more QoS parameters is an NP-hard problem. Therefore, recently many researchers are trying to use heuristic methods such as Genetic Algorithm (GA). In a previous work, a QoS multicast routing based on GA was proposed. However, in this algorithm, the multicast routing falls in the local minimum and cannot satisfy the application requirements. In this paper, we propose a new QoS multicast routing protocol, which has better genetic operations than the conventional algorithm, resulting in a better performance.

This survey on Quality of Service (QoS) in multicast ad hoc networks uses a framework based on the mechanisms in three important elements: resource estimations, multicast tree/mesh administration, and multicast routing. Our contribution is an exploration of the design space and an identification of areas that have not been fully explored. We discuss the design space of central mechanisms and classify proposed QoS multicast schemes according to the mechanisms they used. In addition, we summarize the scenarios used for evaluating their performance. Furthermore, we identify issues, mechanisms, and scenarios that have not been fully investigated in existing works. The paper provides a coherent understanding of design principles, conceptual operation, and evaluated scenarios of schemes designed for QoS multicast application in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). It also outlines new areas for future research in this field.

Multicast routing is an effective way to communicate among multiple hosts in a network. For multimedia applications, the routing algorithms should consider many Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as delay, cost and so on to find a new route. However, to find routes with two or more QoS parameters is an NP-hard problem. This paper describes a new evolutionary scheme for optimization of multicast QoS routing based on the hybrid of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), called HGAPSO. In HGAPSO, individuals in a new generation are created, not only by crossover and mutation operation as in GA, but also by PSO. The upper-half of the best-performing individuals in a population are regarded as elites. Instead of being reproduced directly to the next generation, these elites are first enhanced. The group constituted by the elites is regarded as a swarm, and each elite corresponds to a particle within it. In this regard, the elites are enhanced by PSO, an operation which mimics the maturing phenomenon in nature. This scheme can simultaneously optimize the cost of the tree, the maximum end-to-end delay, the average delay and the maximum link utilization. In this way, a set of optimal solutions, known as Pareto set, is calculated in only one run, without a priori restrictions. It has revealed an efficient method of the reconstruction of multicast tree topology and the experimental results demonstrated better performance than the conventional GA optimization method.
