Human Minds and Animal Stories: How Narratives Make Us Care About Other Species
The research discusses Esotericism. The human being has many human attitudes(mind, act and sentiment). Thus, he makes up his mind wisely and in accordance with these human attitudes in order to guarantee the success of his design since the human is the designer main objective.Since the human uses his attitude in designing the products and purposes, his act should be in harmony with his mind and sentiment, as depending on the intellectual part alone would make an intellectual product (getting benefit), while depending on the sentimental part alone would make it a sentimental product. Consequently, the relationship between the mind and the sentiment is the subject of esotericism, which focuses on making a real product. There are two kinds of people in the designing field: the designer and the consumer. There is a binary-relationship between the human (designer) knowledge of his mind, act and sentiment. Esotericism is a branch of science that is completely based on the practical application. Hence, Esotericism aims at enlightening and improving the human being, that is, seeking realization of the human being, and fathoming the human soul. That is, enabling the human to be aware of himself and to know its reality. The practical application is the only standard that shows the hidden weak as well as strong points and detect the right and the wrong deeds. These he has used to survive and surpass other creaturesand also use them for his interests. He's also used them to make whatever he wants anytime and anyhow he wants. This is what we call the 'Phenomenon Design'. In order for this phenomenon to complete, the human must be an occurent in the world, since this phenomenon cannot succeed without the existence the materials and energies that God has created and the human has been discovering. Meanwhile, the globe, considered the human's catalogue and the open and renewable book of creation containing all creatures existent in the nature. Research Problem: Discovery and proof of the relationship between Esotericism and the design so that we can come to complete designs due to reliability on the three attitudes, as depending on the intellectual part would make alone would make an intellectual product (only utilitarian), while depending on the sentimental part alone would make it a sentimental product. Thus, the product must depend on all three attitudes in order to be complete. Research Objective: Revealing the relationship between Esotericism and the design in order to get the best design depending on the three attitudes so that the product would be neither utilitarian intellectual nor aesthetic sentimental, but a complete three-corner design. Research approach: The research is based on the inductive approach

Assessment of Mechanical Engineering Research Output using Scientometric Indicators: A Comparative Study of India, Japan, and South Korea
This study examined the mechanical engineering research output from India, Japan, and South Korea on different parameters including growth, collaboration indices, and activity index. The purpose of the study is to understand the overall development of mechanical engineering through analytical approaches applied on the scholarly outcome of the countries considered for the study. The study focuses on analysing the articles published by India, Japan, and South Korea, and is restricted to articles indexed in the Science Citation Index – Web of Science for the period 2000 to 2014. The ratios of number of paper to citations for India, Japan, and Korea are 20,836: 1,97,679; 24,494: 2,04,393; and 30,578: 2,66,902 respectively for the period 2000-2014. The findings show that there is a decline in Japanese publications in mechanical engineering, whereas other two countries have recorded an increasing trend. While India has tripled its publications in a span of 15 years, South Korea, on the other hand, has doubled its publications in the same span of time. There has been an increasing trend towards collaboration in almost all fields of science and technology. However, the extent of collaboration and their rate of growth varied for one subject to another, one branch to another branch of the same subject, and from one country to another country. The present study analyses the growth of research publications of the mechanical engineering domain including authorship distribution, collaboration indices, prominent journals, and activity index.

There were many scholars having made discussion about Su Shi's Ode of Red Cliff. And this work has also been selected as a teaching material of Chinese Language subject of senior high school students. The main reasons behind them are that the piece of work is a literary work, and is also a historical record. Nevertheless, in the aspect of literature, it is read from the viewpoint of appreciation; and in the aspect of historical record, it is an exploration of the old facts. Overall speaking, the frame of mind of Su Shi still cannot be seen from the work.Speaking of the term ”frame of mind,” Su Shi's work of Ode of Red Cliff is a reflection of the soul of a person in poor situation, who let his mood extend far and outward. What is expressed are the reflection of hearts of the people in the world and the dilution of personal depression. Speaking of the reflection of hearts of the people in the world, it is a free galloping of soul. No need to pay efforts for fame, and no need to pay efforts for wealth, a person liberates his mind and lets himself be carefree as much as possible. This is just as what Zhuang Zhou called, ”sitting in forgetfulness” in the harmony of human and nature. And speaking of the dilution of personal depression, it is an extreme expansion of thinking. It refers that when general people encounter a mishap, they must feel difficult to free themselves from grief. But the people with highly expanded thinking can turn the grief in their hearts to be sublime of love, and change the original anxious and worrying mind to be refreshed and clear situation. For the sublime of affection and the situation of clarity, if a person is not broadminded or does not have great intelligence, the person cannot achieve them at all. And the person, Su Shi, could overcome his sorrow. From here, we can imagine his broadmindedness and thorough thinking.Besides, between the Heaven and the Earth, some things are changeable, and some things are unchanged. No matter things are changeable or unchanged, taking the moon for example, the moon is after all still the moon. The full moon or the crescent moon is merely the turning wheel of the moon. It is known that the main body of the moon is normal, and its being full or crescent is a phenomenon. The constantly changing phenomena of its main body will finally unite to become one. Therefore, it is not necessary to care about the main body or the phenomenon. If a person does not care about details of things, all the things existed are just a phenomenon, and phenomenon can never leave all the things existed. In this way, flowers bloom, water flows, and everything goes back to the nature. Then, what argument will there be? Just because Su Shi did not have any argument with anybody, he had ”realization.” Just because of his ”realization,” he had things to express. Just because he had things to express, no matter how difficult the situation was, it did not bother his heart at all. Therefore, the words ”do not know” in the line, ”Do not know that the East was already white” are the summary of the sublimed and penetrated realization of his frame of mind. Hence, reading the work in this way, we can fully understand the reasons of his writing the work, Ode of Red Cliff.
Read moreConstraints to a full adoption of renewable energy : an empirical assessment
Renewable energy technologies are becoming increasingly important due to uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources worldwide, by human beings, to sustain the current lifestyle. Renewable energy technologies development and acceptance is key to keep the current technological evolutionary pace with responsible use of natural resources. This work is based on identification and test of constraints that have been retaining the acceptance process of renewable energy technologies in Brazil and testing these in organizational environment. For this purpose, the researcher has based its work on behavioural theory i.e. the theory of reasoned action (TRA) (Fishbein and Ajzen, 1975), and theory of planned behaviour (TPB) (Ajzen, 1985). With these in mind, the researcher has adopted the technology acceptance model (TAM) (Davis, 1985) and integrated some extensions to it regarding environmental attitude. The environmental view was considered based on the new environmental paradigm (NEP) (Dunlap and Van Liere, 1978) and the ecologically conscious consumer behaviour model (ECCB) (Roberts, 1996). This research has adopted a mixed methodology using quantitative research and action research via learning sets, gathering data from the environment, referred to technological and environmental challenges identified by the society and using this data as information to an organization so that it could learn and develop new strategies that will help increasing sales of renewable energy technologies' based products. On the quantitative phase of this research, 132 Brazilian citizens living in the south and southeast area of Brazil, with an income not lower than 9 minimum wages, owning graduation degree, responded the quantitative questionnaire. The data collected was analysed using factor analysis and multiple regression which provided information for the Action Research phase, when the organization that participated used learning sets, conducted by the researcher, with a group of sales managers that analysed, debated, developed and applied ideas based on the data of the quantitative questionnaire, aiming the increase of sales of renewable energy technologies' products. The results found consider the constraints of technological acceptance by usefulness or ease of use not high, but greatest challenges lies on price levels and environmental attitude. By looking at these constraints during the learning sets, the organization managed to develop new working strategies for increasing sales of renewable energy technologies' products, such as working with the government for funding and help on price reduction levels and increasing user's environmental knowledge of the importance and benefits that renewable energy technologies' products can bring not only to their businesses but to society.

Interdisciplinarity, which is a part of the research paradigm in all fields of science constitutes a real challenge in research. It manifests itself particularly in the diversity of the undertaken research topics, in the variety of the adopted research approaches (theoretical, methodological, normative, empirical-descriptive), and in the flexibility and the ability to see both the scientific problems as well as the economic and social needs. The ability to cross the boundaries between the fields of technical and social sciences, to identify problems and to seek solutions at the frontiers of scientific disciplines, the eagerness to work in research teams diverse in terms of competence, age, skills, creating conditions for both the personal development and that of individual team members, breaking the stereotypical ways of thinking in the process of solving problems and anticipating future events are all features of an academic culture nurtured by Professor Joanicjusz Nazarko. His profile, which is an extraordinary example of the successfully implemented interdisciplinarity principle in research and teaching, is presented in this article at the occasion of his 60th birthday. The paper highlights the research of Professor Joanicjusz Nazarko, presents a review of his extensive scientific work and lists some of his publications.
Read moreStrategic Learning Techniques - Measures Enhancing the Visibility of the Cognitive Process of Learning
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the contribution is to provide insights on how strategic learning techniques could constitute measures enhancing the visibility of the cognitive process of learning. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The competence of learning as such and its application in practice in educational institutions is a mainly cognitive experience. Copying the learning behavior as such is therefore more difficult compared to the learning through imitation during childhood, as the cognitive part of learning is not immediately visible for the outstanding person wishing to improve his or her learning competence. Alongside three examples from practice, the contribution examines those strategic learning techniques, which can enhance the visibility of the cognitive process of learning. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The pressure of ensuring success at school can lead to the participation of learners in private lessons and revision courses. As participation in these courses mainly focusses on the revision of discipline knowledge that is tested in exams, one may argue that these courses only heal the symptoms of disappointing examination results. RESEARCH RESULTS: The present contribution argues that an investment into the learning competences as such does entail long-term benefits compared to the transferal of discipline knowledge in private lesson and revision courses. CONCLUSIONS, INNOVATIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS: The drafters of curricula should reassess whether the major focus on discipline knowledge based subjects occupy the majority of curricular obligations is a welcoming development. This development should critically be reflected and perhaps even changed by introducing compulsory strategic learning courses throughout the educational training of learners.

The 2008 Survey of SWA and MARS show that Top of Mind (TOM) Advertising of Djarum cigarette is 12.7 and the TOM Brand is 11.9. While in the 2007 survey show that TOM Brand of Djarum is 13.1 and it is higher that the TOM Advertising which is 12.1. This shows that there is a decline in TOM Brand from 13.1 in 2007 to be 11.9 in 2008. And there is an insignificant increase in TOM Advertising approximately 0.6 from 12.1 in 2007 to 12.7 in 2008. It is suspected that this is the cause of uncreative advertising of the Djarum cigarrete so that the advertising becomes ineffective. Hence, the problem of this research is How to improve the advertising effectiveness through the advertising creativity and the endorser credibility impacting the attitude toward the ad? To answer the problem of this research, questionnaires is distributed to 140 respondents. The respondent are people who had seen the advertising of Djarum. The questionnaire consist of items about the advertising creativity, endorser credibility, advertising effectiveness and the attitude toward the ad. Then, the data is being analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) Analysis Method. The results of the SEM analysis method show that the hypotheses which say that the more creative an advertising is, the higher the advertising effectiveness; the higher the credibility of the endorser, the more effective the advertising is and that the more effective the advertising, the more positive the attitude toward the ad is, had proven to be statistically accepted.
Read moreThe genesis of the Mycenaean citadel : a philosophical quest for the origins of the architectural forms
This thesis deals with the origins of the architectural forms as expressed in the Homeric Mycenaean citadel. The Genesis of the Mycenaean Citadel is a philosophical quest which reveals the poetic dimension of the Mycenaean architecture. The Introduction deals with general theories on the subject of space, which converge into one, forming the spinal idea of the thesis. The ‘process of individuation’, the process by which a person becomes ‘in-dividual’ that is a separate, indivisible unity or ‘whole’, is a process of transformation and renewal which at collective level takes place within the citadel. This is built on the archetype which expresses both the nature of the soul as a microcosm and of the divinely ordered Cosmos. The confrontation of the rational ‘ego’ with the unconscious is the process which brings us to the ‘self’, that organising center of the human psyche which is symbolised through the centre of the citadel. . Chapter I refers to ‘the Archetype of the Mycenaean citadel’. The Mycenaean citadel, which is built on a certain pattern of placement and orientation in relation to landscape formations, reproduces images which belong to the category of the ‘archetypal mother’. On the other hand, its adjustment to a central point with ‘high’ significance, recalls the archetypal image of Shiva-Shakti. The citadel realises the concept of a Kantian ‘One-all embracing space’; it is a cosmogonic symbol but also a philosophical one. Chapter II examines the column in its dual meaning, which is expressed in one structure; column and capital unite within their symbolism the conscious and unconscious contents of the human psyche and express the archetype of wholeness and goal of the individuation process. 33 Chapter III is a philosophical research into the ‘symbolism of the triangle’, the sacred Pythagorean symbol which expresses certain cosmological beliefs about the relation between human nature and the divinely ordered Cosmos. The triangular slab over the Lion Gate is a representation of the Dionysiac ‘palingenesia’, that is the continuity of One life, which was central to the Mycenaean religion. Chapter IV deals with the tripartite ‘megaron’. The circular hearth within the four-columned hall expresses the ‘quaternity of the One’, one of the oldest religious symbols of humanity. Zeus is revealed in the ‘fiery monadic unit-cubit’ as an all-embracing god next to goddess Hestia, symbolised by the circular hearth. The ‘megaron’ expresses the alchemical quaternity and the triad but also the psychological stages of development in the process towards wholeness. In the Conclusions it is emphasised that the Mycenaean citadel was created as if in a repetition of a cosmogony. It is a ‘mandala’, the universal image which is identified with God-image in man. Moreover it is built in order to be experienced by its citizen in the process of his psychological transformation towards the ‘self’, the divine element within the psyche which unites with the divinely ordered Cosmos

In this review, one sought to analyse the constitution of the scientific field of the Brazilian environmental accounting from the concepts of Pierre Bourdieu. This is a positivist study, with a quantitative and exploratory approach, and bibliometric and documentary procedures for measuring pure and institutional scientific capital, whose information was collected in the database of the Lattes Platform of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in order to identify the research agents. The results showed a total of 137 research-agents characterized in accordance with the demographic and academic profile – expressed by qualification, professional experience, intellectual production, positions held and participation in boards, councils, commissions and consultancies – that might be analysed in three categories: agents, scientific capital and scientific field. It was confirmed that the Brazilian scientific field of environmental accounting includes research agents distributed in all regions of Brazil with a slight predominance of female agents. It was also found that the research agents are more dedicated to research than to administrative positions, that is, the structure of the scientific field is greater due to the pure scientific capital. Regarding the dynamic of the field, the presence of new researchers and an increase in the number of scientific research publications over the years are noted.

PERCEPTIONS OF GLOBAL MINDEDNESS IN THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME: THE RELATIONSHIP TO STUDENT ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE AND TEACHER CHARACTERISTICS
Title of dissertation: Perceptions of global mindedness in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme: The relationship to student academic performance and teacher characteristics Marjorie D. Lope, Doctor of Philosophy, 2014 Dissertation directed by: Professor Klees, Department of International Education Policy The purpose of this exploratory study is to investigate student perceptions of global mindedness between students who participate in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) compared to students who do not participate in the MYP or who are new to the MYP in the 9 th grade. The study further analyzes the relationship between these students’ perceptions of global mindedness and academic performance and course enrollment. It also explores teacher perceptions of global mindedness and relates the findings to specific teacher characteristics. There are mixed findings on student acquisition of global mindedness when comparing MYP students to non-MYP students suggesting that student development of global mindedness could evolve over time and is not significantly impacted by one experience, as previous research also suggests. Teacher and student understanding of global mindedness in the MYP could be underdeveloped and focused on global centrism and cultural pluralism. Findings from this research suggest that students participating in the MYP score highest on the global mindedness subscales of global centrism and cultural pluralism. The MYP could unintentionally be more explicitly focused on academics compared to explicitly teaching, learning, and assessing global mindedness because there was a significant relationship between participation in the MYP and academic performance and course enrollment over time. There are specific teacher characteristics that predict global mindedness and vice versa and these findings are aligned with previous research. The participant sample was from one school district and the survey was done at one point in time, which created certain limitations. The mixed findings of this exploration suggest that more research is needed to better understand the relevance and development of global mindedness on student and teacher perceptions in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.
