Approximately dual Gabor frames and almost perfect reconstruction based on a class of window functions

Projective modules over noncommutative tori are multi-window Gabor frames for modulation spaces

The classical duals and generalized duals of frames play a fundamental role in the abstract frame theory. In this paper we first define the concepts of dual, canonical dual, pseudo-dual and approximate dual for Bessel sequences with respect to a BK-space of scalar-valued sequences in Banach spaces, and illuminate their relationship with Banach frames. Then we prove that classical dual and approximate dual of Banach frames are stable under small perturbations so that the results obtained1 is a special case of it. We also apply a new characterization of classical dual Banach frames to discuss a stability problem for them. For approximate dual Banach frames constructed via perturbation theory, we provide a bound on the deviation from perfect reconstruction.

We provide explicit constructions of particularly convenient dual pairs of Gabor frames. We prove that arbitrary polynomials restricted to sufficiently large intervals will generate Gabor frames, at least for small modulation parameters. Unfortunately, no similar function can generate a dual Gabor frame, but we prove that almost any such frame has a dual generated by a B-spline. Finally, for frames generated by any compactly supported function φ whose integer-translates form a partition of unity, e.g., a B-spline, we construct a class of dual frame generators, formed by linear combinations of translates of φ. This allows us to chose a dual generator with special properties, for example, the one with shortest support, or a symmetric one in case the frame itself is generated by a symmetric function. One of these dual generators has the property of being constant on the support of the frame generator.

This paper considers generators of Heisenberg modules in the case of twisted group [Formula: see text]-algebras of closed subgroups of locally compact abelian (LCA) groups and how the restriction and/or periodization of these generators yield generators for other Heisenberg modules. Since generators of Heisenberg modules are exactly the generators of (multi-window) Gabor frames, our methods are going to be from Gabor analysis. In the latter setting, the procedure of restriction and periodization of generators is well known. Our results extend this established part of Gabor analysis to the general setting of LCA groups. We give several concrete examples where we demonstrate some of the consequences of our results. Finally, we show that vector bundles over an irrational noncommutative torus may be approximated by vector bundles for finite-dimensional matrix algebras that converge to the irrational noncommutative torus with respect to the module norm of the generators, where the matrix algebras converge in the quantum Gromov–Hausdorff distance to the irrational noncommutative torus.

Dual frames are generalized Riesz bases which have potential applications in signal processing. In this paper, the construction of dual frames of matrix-valued wave packet systems in the matrix-valued function space [Formula: see text] from dual pairs of atomic wave packet frames in [Formula: see text] is studied. A class of matrix-valued dual generators from its associated dual pair of atomic wave packets has been obtained. We provide a characterization of matrix-valued dual window functions in terms of orthogonality of wave packet Bessel sequences. A perturbation result with respect to window functions for matrix-valued dual frames is given. It is well known that an orthogonal Parseval Hilbert frame for a Hilbert space turned out be an orthonormal basis for the space, however, this is not true for an orthogonal matrix-valued wave packet Parseval frame for the underlying matrix-valued function space. We give a type of matrix-valued orthonormal basis associated with an orthonormal basis of [Formula: see text].

A dimension invariance property for finite frames of translates and Gabor frames is discussed. Under appropriate support conditions among the frame and dual frame generating functions, we show that a pair of dual frames evaluated in a given space remains a valid dual set if they are naturally embedded in the underlying space of almost arbitrarily enlarged dimension. Consequently, the evaluation of duals in a very large dimensional space is now easily accessible by merely working in a space of some much smaller dimension. A number of uniform and non-uniform schemes are studied. To satisfy the support conditions, a method of finding valid alternate dual functions with small support via a known parametric dual frame formula is discussed. Oftentimes it is convenient to have truncated approximate duals that satisfy the support conditions. Stability studies of the dimension invariance principle via such approximate duals are also presented.

A proficient approach to the design of Quadrature Mirror Filter (QMF) Bank is studied and an algorithm is offered for straightforward accomplishment of QMF bank with near perfect reconstruction. Objective function is built upon perfect reconstruction condition. The cutoff frequency is repetitively varied to adjust the filter coefficients using the anticipated algorithm and reconstruction error is minimized. Using the optimal value of cutoff frequency the prototype filter is designed and other filters of the bank is considered from that single prototype filter. Kaiser and Dolph-Chebyshev window functions are used to investigate the betterment of the design method. The performance of the projected design method are evaluated in terms of computation time required i.e. CPU time, Perfect Reconstruction Error (PRE), Magnitude Square Error (MSE) and Number of Iterations (NOI). The proposed algorithm is simple, easy to implement, and linearly converges to optimal solution. Finally, the sub-band decomposition of an audio signal is done using the filter bank.

Sampling and interpolation in Bargmann–Fock spaces of polyanalytic functions

We introduce the Banach space S 0 ⊑ L 2 which has a variety of properties making it a useful tool in Gabor analysis. S 0 can be characterized as the smallest time-frequency homogeneous Banach space of (continuous) functions. We also present other characterizations of S 0 turning it into a very flexible tool for Gabor analysis and allowing for simplifications of various proofs. A careful analysis of both the coefficient and the synthesis mapping in Gabor theory shows that an arbitrary window in S 0 not only is a Bessel atom with respect to arbitrary time-frequency lattices, but also yields boundedness between S 0 and e 1. On the other hand, we can study properties of general L 2-atoms since they induce mappings from S 0 to S′0. This enables us to introduce a new, very natural concept of weak duality of Gabor atoms, applying also to the classical pair of the Gauss-function and its dual function determined by Bastiaans. Using the established results, we show a variety of properties that are desirable in applications, like the continuous dependence of the canonical dual window on the given Gabor window and on the lattice; continuity of thresholding and masking operators from signal processing; and an algorithm for the reconstruction of bandlimited functions from samples of the Gabor transform in a corresponding horizontal strip in the time-frequency plane. We also present an approximate Balian-Low Theorem stating that for close-to-critical lattices, the dual Gabor atoms progressively lose their time-frequency localization.

Signal processing by alternate dual Gabor frames

Vector‐valued frames were first introduced under the name of superframes by Balan in the context of signal multiplexing and by Han and Larson from the mathematical aspect. Since then, the wavelet and Gabor frames in have interested many mathematicians. The space models vector‐valued causal signal spaces because of the time variable being nonnegative. But it admits no nontrivial shift‐invariant system and thus no wavelet or Gabor frame since is not a group by addition (not as ). Observing that is a group by multiplication, we, in this paper, introduce a class of multiplication‐based dilation‐and‐modulation ( ) systems, and investigate the theory of frames in . Since is not closed under the Fourier transform, the Fourier transform does not fit . We introduce the notion of Θa transform in , and using Θa‐transform matrix method, we characterize frames, Riesz bases, and dual frames in and obtain an explicit expression of duals for an arbitrary given frame. An example theorem is also presented.

Effective methods to calculate finite dual frame for the short-time Fourier expansion (STFE) in l/sup 2/(Z) are proposed when arbitrary finite frame is given. Based on a relationship between the prototype window used for generating the frame window and the dual prototype window used for generating the dual frame window, two effective numerical methods with a finite frame operator are shown to obtain finite support dual frame windows in discrete-time domain formulation. The methods can be applied to construct the multiple STFE (MSTFE) suitable for a time-frequency analysis and synthesis of nonstationary signals. Simulation results are given to verify the effectiveness of the design of dual frame windows for composing the MSTFE.

This paper addresses multiwindow Gabor systems on discrete periodic sets, which can model signals to appear periodically but intermittently. We give some necessary and/or sufficient conditions for multiwindow Gabor systems to foe frames on discrete periodic sets, and characterize two multiwindow Gabor Bessel sequences to foe dual frames on discrete periodic sets. For a given multiwindow Gabor frame, we derive all its Gabor duals, among which we obtain an explicit expression of the canonical Gabor dual. In addition, we generalize multiwindow Gabor systems to the case of a different sampling rate for each window, and investigate multiwindow Gabor frames and dual frames in this case. We also show the properties of the multiwindow Gabor systems are essentially not changed by replacing the exponential kernel with other kernels.

In this paper, we aim to investigate the third-order Hankel determinant H 3 ( 1 ) for this function class S l * associated with exponential function and obtain the upper bound of the determinant H 3 ( 1 ) . Meanwhile, we give two examples to illustrate the results obtained.
