The exchange of information between devices in a network is very important for efficiency and collaboration. One technology that supports the exchange of information is File Sharing and Remote Desktop Connection (RDC). This research aims to implement these two technologies in a Local Area Network (LAN) to facilitate file exchange and remote access to computer desktops. File sharing allows users to easily share data and resources between computers on a network. This study examines various methods and protocols used in file sharing, such as SMB (Server Message Block) and FTP (File Transfer Protocol), as well as RDC mechanisms such as RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol). This research also explores the security challenges faced in the implementation of these two technologies, including threats to data privacy and the potential for unauthorized access. Implementation begins with a stable and secure LAN network configuration. Then, using file sharing protocols such as SMB (Server Message Block) or NFS (Network File System), users can share and access files between devices on the network easily. Additionally, by utilizing the Remote Desktop Connection service, users can access a computer's desktop remotely from other devices on the network, allowing for efficient system administration as well as access to applications and files located on that desktop. The implementation methods used include configuring network settings, installing and configuring file sharing software and Remote Desktop Connection services, as well as testing to ensure optimal connection and security. Through case studies and experiments, this research proves that the use of LAN as network infrastructure can support high performance and stability in implementing file sharing and RDC. By utilizing a LAN, this research shows that implementing file sharing and RDC can improve operational efficiency and collaboration in the work environment. The results of this implementation are expected to increase productivity and collaboration in a LAN environment by enabling easy and secure access to files and computer desktops from various locations on the network and emphasize the importance of strong security settings and user training to maximize the benefits of this technology in local networks.

Home and workplace networks typically safeguard against external threats but allow internal devices to communicate freely with each other. As a result, malicious code on an internal device can collect sensitive data about other devices or directly attack them. In this paper, we study mobile apps as potential sources of local network attacks, analyse their behaviour, design new defences, and evaluate and bypass existing mitigations. We first focus on Android, where apps with only the Internet permission can access all devices in the Local Area Network (LAN), meaning malicious apps can extract private LAN data, manipulate discovery protocols to obtain a Machine-in-the-Middle (MitM) position, and directly attack devices. To defend against such mobile-based attacks, we define an access model to securely differentiate between LAN and global Internet access. We implement this model on Android by creating LANShield: an app that refines Android's permission model, and can monitor and block LAN access of apps using a virtual network interface. We use LANShield to manually perform tests of 399 Android apps and find, among other observations, that 89 apps unexpectedly access the LAN, and 93 apps scan the network. In contrast to Android, iOS already separates the local and global Internet, but does so based on a proprietary LAN access model. We compare this access model to ours, and present multiple bypasses for an app to circumvent Apple's local network permission. Finally, we reported all our findings to affected vendors, and hope our work will motivate the adoption of stronger permission models on mobile devices.

The purpose of this research is to develop a system that has been running so far by designing and building a Local Area Network computer network on the sales system at Bencoolen Coffee. Sales system at Bencoolen Coffee And Resto is made using Visual Basic .Net programming language and SQL Server 2008r2 database. This Sales System is based on Wireless Local Area Network with 4 access rights to use the application, namely administrator, cashier, chef, and consumer. With this sales system, it can help Bencoolen Coffe And Resto in managing food and beverage data, as well as daily sales that have been integrated into one unit. The sales system at Bencoolen Coffee And Resto is implemented with 5 laptops connected to 1 local network where 1 laptop is used as a server, 1 laptop is used as an administrator, 1 laptop is used as a chef, 1 laptop is used as a cashier, and 1 laptop is used as a consumer, which has different functions. vary. Based on the results of the tests that have been carried out, the functionality of the Sales system at Bencoolen Coffee And Resto runs as expected, and the system is able to carry out data processing within the scope of the Bencoolen Coffee And Resto network.

Triangulating molecular surfaces over a LAN of GPU-enabled computers

The paper presents the design and implementation of an experimental set of supplementary services over a conversational talk service in a local area network (LAN) environment, applying the principles of an intelligent structured network. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Intelligent Network Conceptual Model was applied as a formal framework. Special emphasis was put on the service functional modules, their decomposition on the different levels of abstraction, and the logic of their interconnection. The tools and models used in the detailed specification are referenced. The supporting intelligent local network application protocol was specified and a distributed software application was developed and implemented in the department's local network. Remote procedure call protocol software was used as an application programming interface.

STMIK Lombok is an institution engaged in education that process data, about students, student practical data, lecturer data, and correspondence. Stages of research include Data collection, design, and methods of testing To be able to help solve the problem of separate data access then implemented Network Attached Storage (NAS) which is a network to perform distribution of storage assets owned by the server of a network system that has the advantage of faster access to data stored through Local Area Network, minimal cost and cheap and easy maintenance, from setup to configuration, and available Open Source Software. After doing the testing phase it can be concluded that FreeNas as an operating system used for the processing of network storage media is very capable of handling the task well and the facilities that exist in it is very supportive in storage and accessing files. FreeNas web is very helpful and allows users to configure it other than it can be used without having to spend a large cost, and with the facilities in the FreeNas.

The scenario is that a bulk data transfer is being performed over a TCP connection, from a host on a local area network (LAN) to a mobile host attached to the LAN by a radio link. In an earlier work we had assumed that packet losses in a TCP connection over a radio link are statistically independent. In this paper, we extend this analysis to a Rayleigh fading link, which we model by a two-state Markov model. The bulk throughputs of TCP-OldTahoe and TCP-Tahoe are compared with and without fading, for various average signal-to-noise ratios. We also study the performance with a link protocol on the wireless link, and study the effect of varying the link packet size, the number of link packet attempts, and the vehicle speed. For the parameters of the BSD UNIX implementation, over a 1.5 Mbps wireless link, we find that, with fading, a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 30 dB is required to get reasonable throughput with TCP Tahoe or OldTahoe; this corresponds to at least 100 times more power than is needed without fading.For fixed signal-to-noise ratio, as the vehicle speed varies there are roughly 3 regions of performance: at very low speeds (pedestrian speeds) the throughput is very good; at low vehicular speeds the throughput deteriorates, and again becomes very good at higher vehicle speeds. The speeds corresponding to the various regions depend on the parameters of the link protocol.

A student project to accompany a course on computer interfacing and local area networks is described. The audience at which the course is aimed consists of beginning graduate students and seniors. The course addresses fundamental concepts in computer networks in general, and local networks in particular. Students are given the specification of a simple sliding window protocol that provides sequence control and error recovery over an unreliable data link. The task is to implement this protocol on the Apple Macintosh computer as a Layer-3 protocol using the services of the link access protocol (Layer 2) already existent on the machine as part of the Appletalk network. Typical implementations and the cost of benefits of utilizing inexpensive microcomputers for projects in the field of computer networks are discussed.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>

Memnet is a shared-memory local area network under development at the University of Delaware that provides close coupling to the processors of a physically distributed multiprocessor system. The Memnet local network appears as memory in the physical address space of each processor (host) on the network. This paper describes an analysis of the Memnet system performed to predict the possible performance levels attainable by a Memnet system. One objective of this analysis is to provide analytic results demonstrating the intrinsic soundness of the Memnet architecture. This is in support of the intuitive arguments of the shared-memory network model over the I/O modeled local network schemes. Another function of this analysis has been to provide design feedback for the choice of values for parameters such as page size. The analysis results indicate that the Memnet approach to networking should significantly speed communication compared to alternative networking schemes. At high data transmission rates, the packet transmission time of a local area network (LAN) could become comparable to or less than the medium propagation delay. The performance of many LAN schemes degrades rapidly when the packet transmission time becomes small comparative to the medium propagation delay. This paper introduces LANs and discusses the performance degradation of LANs at high speeds. It surveys recently proposed LAN schemes designed to operate at high data rates, including their performance characteristics desirable in LAN medium access protocols are identified and discussed. The paper serves as a tutorial for readers less familiar with local computer communication networks. It also serves as a survey of the state-of-the-art LANs.

This paper discusses some of the system issues that impact the design of fiber optic components intended for use in local area networks. How fiber optics technology affects system level decisions such as topology and system synchronization is also discussed. Finally, some of the key contributions of fiber optics in local network applications as well as areas for further contribution are presented.

In view of the current oil collection points are most remote and scattered, the existing mobile communication network are often not covered, it is difficult to realize automatic monitoring for working condition of oil well, this paper presents a oil well working parameters monitoring system based on the Internet of things, which can realize the automatic wireless acquisition and monitoring of the wellhead pressure, temperature and displacement parameters etc. The system consists of a collection of nodes, routing nodes, gateway nodes, local networks and cloud computing platform. Collection nodes are developed on core processor ARM7 and embedded uClinux operating system platform, the working parameters data of the oil well is sent to the local area network and cloud computing platform through wireless network. Monitoring personnel can view the real-time working parameters of oil well in the local network which provides an important support for the protection of oil well safety and accident rescue.

Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is an alternative in overcoming cabling problems in a local network. Often wireless network security that is installed still uses vendor default settings such as SSID, IP Address, remote management, DHCP enabled, frequency channels, without encryption, even user or password for wireless administration. How does a strong WLAN security system work? The most common security system applied to wireless networks at this time is starting from securing access points by applying the MAC Filtering concept, using WPA / WPA2-PSK security keys, and RADIUS server authentication. To see the quality of wireless LAN network security, how do you analyze the test of the existing security system in the network. The method that can be used in evaluating wireless networks is by testing the system by simulating forms of attacks on wireless networks with the Penetration Testing method. By carrying out 4 stages of research using the penetration testing method (i) the planning stage, (ii) the discovery stage, (iii) the attack stage and (iv) the report stage, from the attack stage (Cracking The Encryption, Bypassing MAC Address, Attacking The Infrastructure and MITM ) using Kali Linux got the results of four types of attacks carried out, only one of which was failed, namely the cracking attack type of the encryption on the RADIUS server due to using captive portal authentication

Introduction. The paper deals with the problem of automated construction of a local area network using tools and methods for traffic analysis at the link layer of OSI model. The problem is caused by two factors. These are difficulties of the manual determination of the communication between equipment and the lack of physical access to communication lines of an already functioning network. The purpose of the work is to reduce the time spent on building a local network diagram through automating the process of determining the communication between the equipment.Materials and Methods. To solve the set tasks, a method for determining the relative location of devices is proposed. The network adapters of a specialized software and hardware complex, which are connected to a communication line break at different points of the network, are used in opposite directions. The method used is based on calculations of intersections of address sets received from these adapters. The structural schemes of the construction of such a software and hardware complex and the requirements for it are given. The methods of obtaining MAC addresses from transit packets are described. Examples of libraries of software components for performing this operation are given. The structure of a relational database is proposed for storing the received data. The format and content of the fields of its table are described.Results. Using the developed methods, a typical example of an Ethernet network shows a way to determine the relative location of end devices specified by their MAC addresses, as well as at least two switches located between them. The signs by which it is possible to judge the presence of switching equipment in a particular segment are determined. A method is proposed that enables through using a set of relational operations, to sequentially refine the network topology until the required accuracy is achieved.Discussion and Conclusions. The results obtained can be used under the administration of large local networks with an extensive structure. The proposed approach allows you to reduce the time required for building a scheme. This is possible due to the automation of the process of obtaining information about devices operating on the network and their mutual location.
