Pointing Users Toward Citation Searching: Using Google Scholar and Web of Science Robert Schroeder (bio) Much has been written about citation indexing since Eugene Garfield's seminal article in 1955, "Citation Indexes for Science: A New Dimension in Documentation through Association of Ideas."1 In the 1960s, the discussion was about Garfield's Science Citation Index and later its successor, Web of Science. For almost half a century, these were the only available tools for tracing scholarly discourse forward in time. Now there are two new tools. SCOPUS is a commercial product from Elsevier and was launched in November 2004. Google Scholar also arrived on the scene in November 2004. Because Google Scholar is freely accessible from the Google site, students and faculty are finding and using it. They are beginning to ask librarians for their professional opinions of its efficacy. Practicing reference and instruction librarians need to understand the strengths of both Google Scholar and Web of Science so that they can appropriately recommend them for use by their patrons—whether they are undergraduates, graduate students, or faculty. Since April 2005, 10 studies have been published that directly compare the citation features of Google Scholar to those of Web of Science. In an effort to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of these tools, the author undertook an investigation of this research. Although the parameters of the studies varied greatly with respect to the disciplines, dates, and sample sizes, analysis of these preliminary studies can help us gain an initial—albeit sketchy—impression of the relative strength and weakness of each service. The results of this effort are reported here as an informal meta-analysis, followed by some recommendations for utilizing these tools across a range of needs. The coverage of each database is both overlapping and complementary. Web of Science is comprised of a known list of highly prestigious journals. The extent to which disciplines are covered is well known, but it is limited to these journal holdings. Although Google Scholar overlaps with Web of Science in some of its coverage, it also includes conference proceedings, books, preprints, and a variety of versions of articles available in open access databases and institutional repositories. Search results do, however, include many "false hits"—non-scholarly sources or titles that are similar to, but not [End Page 243] exact matches for, the target citation. Google Scholar often returns more current results due to its ability to access early versions of works in progress and open access articles available on the Internet. Although the controlled vocabulary in Web of Science is less than perfect, it wins hands-down over Google Scholar, which is totally lacking in any of the finer points of indexing. Summary of positive and negative characteristics of Web of Science and Google Scholar from the 10 studies The findings from these initial studies suggest a variety of uses for both of the databases' citation features in academic reference and instruction. For instructing undergraduate students in the use of the "cited by" features, Google Scholar's lack of advanced search functions may actually be a boon. Most students today are familiar with the look and feel of the "one box searching" of Google. Having a similar uncluttered look, Google Scholar appears less intimidating to novice users, allowing them to focus on the concepts involved in citation searching and analysis. Google Scholar acts as a bridge from the known quantity of Google to more advanced instruction required for Web of Science. Discussing the strengths and weaknesses of both databases is a good way to begin a dialog about when Google Scholar might be an appropriate tool [End Page 245] for research and also allow librarians to make a stronger case for why other databases such as Web of Science need to be used as well. Variation in Results of Three Biology‐Focused Search Engines: A Case Study Using North American Tree Species

Based on the articles on interface usability collected by CNKI and Web of Science (WOS), the current research status, trends, and recommendations on interface usability were analyzed in terms of the number of articles published, literature sources, institutions, authors, and keywords by combining the CNKI and WOS bibliometric analysis tools and CiteSpace information visualization software. Using digital technology methods such as bibliometric analysis, data visualisation and knowledge mapping analysis, the following conclusions were drawn. Research on interface usability mainly focuses on usability testing and interface optimization. At present, the research methods of interface usability are relatively mature, and the evaluation direction of interface usability tends to combine the eye movement experiments, the subjective and objective evaluation of users. The use of digital tools to study the current situation, hotspots and trends in interface usability can provide advice and assistance in the design of relevant interfaces.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has negatively affected the medical services, particularly cancer diagnosis and treatment, for vulnerable cancer patients. Although lung cancer has a high mortality rate, monitoring and following up of these patients can help to improve disease management during the pandemic. Telemedicine has proven to be an effective method of providing health care to these patients. As a result, the purpose of this study was to identify telemedicine applications in the management of lung cancer patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this scoping review, studies published in online scientific databases such as Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed between January 1, 2020 and September 1, 2021 were systematically searched and screened. The studies were chosen using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The bibliometric information and technological aspects of included studies were collected using a data extraction form and the data was analyzed using the content analysis approach. A total of 68 articles were found, from which four articles were finally selected based on specific inclusion/exclusion criteria. Real-time consultation was one of the most common applications of telemedicine to deliver health-care services to cancer patients. Health-care providers used applications such as Zoom, Facetime, WeChat, and e-mail, as well as devices including PCs, phones, and smartphones to provide real-time consultation to patients via videoconferencing, phone calls, and messaging, as well as store and forward consultation via e-mail. Telemedicine in the COVID-19 pandemic provides health-care services to lung cancer patients at their homes by enabling physicians and patients to communicate in real time. Several telemedicine services are still unavailable for patients with lung cancer. As a result, health experts, politicians, and entrepreneurs must pay special attention to this issue.

Literature reviews play a pivotal role to identify the best existing evidence for studies in different fields of knowledge. Employing an integrative literature review design, this qualitative study aims to review articles and book chapters which use autoethnography as a research method and have been published in the domain of English language education and applied linguistics over the past two decades. The reviewed documents were, with coding schemes of exclusion and inclusion criteria, collected with the extensive and intensive search on prestigious citation-tracking electronic databases, such as Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science. The searches yielded a pool of 151 autoethnographies, including 78 peer-reviewed articles published in high-ranking journals and 73 book chapters published by well-established publishers. These data sources were collected, analyzed, and reported in reflections on authors of such autoethnographies concerning a number of aspects, including (1) research context, (2) autoethnographers’ positionality and challenges, (3) justifications of methodological choices, (4) procedure for data generation and analysis, (5) strategies for ethical considerations, and (6) impacts of autoethnographies on educational practices. Built on these findings, the present study recommends that novice autoethnographers familiarize themselves with the types, foundations, justifications, methodologies, and practical implications of autoethnography so as to seek the most appropriate autoethnographic research design to tell their lived stories in their own ways. The limitations of this research are discussed, along with directions to guide researchers in their future studies.

In recent years, the upward trend in adolescent obesity rates has become increasingly evident. The emergence of smart wearable devices has broken through the traditional technical barriers of sweat detection, enabling real-time, non-invasive, and continuous monitoring of athletic performance in adolescents. This report aims to explore the impact of smart wearable devices on enhancing the athletic performance of adolescents from the perspective of sweat analysis. Method: We employed various research methods, including literature review, logical analysis, and statistical analysis, to conduct a comprehensive search for relevant literature from the past five years in electronic databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and CNKI. This review summarizes the latest research advancements in the field of athletic performance monitoring based on sweat analysis and the application of smart wearable devices (1). The electrolytes found in sweat can be utilized to assess the body’s hydration status and muscle fatigue levels. Detection of metabolites such as glucose and lactate can indicate physical fitness status and anaerobic metabolism levels. Furthermore, cortisol can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of fat loss in adolescents. (2) Screen printing technology allows for the integration of multiple electrochemical sensors onto a single flexible substrate, enabling non-invasive detection of sweat biomarkers through methods such as colorimetric analysis and electrochemical analysis using various sensitive elements. Microfluidic systems serve as the core technology, facilitating the absorption and accumulation of sweat, thus enhancing detection efficiency. (3) Smart wearable devices based on sweat analysis can assess various indicators, including activity intensity, energy expenditure, hydration status, and thermoregulation abilities of obese adolescents during exercise. Additionally, employing big data analytics, these devices can provide personalized exercise prescriptions tailored to the specific needs of adolescents. Smart wearable devices based on sweat detection hold great potential for a wide range of applications. However, several issues persist in their current practical use. For example, the rapid evaporation of sweat can lead to detection results that are easily influenced by environmental factors and temperature. Additionally, the sensitivity of smart sensors may decrease after repeated use. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen the interdisciplinary integration of fields such as electrochemistry, materials science, and exercise science. This collaboration can enrich the practical application scenarios of smart wearable devices and optimize the pathways for monitoring athletic performance.

Περίληψη Ο κύριος σκοπός της εργασίας είναι η Συστηματική Βιβλιογραφική Ανασκόπηση (ΣΒΑ) των μακροοικονομικών επιπτώσεων της Διάβρωσης της Φορολογικής Βάσης και της Μετατόπισης Κερδών (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting - BEPS). Η επίτευξη του σκοπού πραγματοποιήθηκε με την αξιοποίηση του πλαισίου PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta – Analysis). Τα επιστημονικά άρθρα αντλήθηκαν από πέντε βάσεις δεδομένων (ABI-ProQuest, EBSCO, Google Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science) που δημοσιεύθηκαν από το 2003 έως 2022. Η ΣΒΑ βασίζεται σε 30 επιλεγμένες εργασίες που αντλούνται από 16.700 πηγές (μέγιστος αναφερόμενος αριθμός από Google Scholar). Abstract A Systematic Literature Review of the Macro-Economics of Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) is the main purpose of this study. This has been achieved by a Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) that was conducted using five databases (ABI-ProQuest, EBSCO, Google Scholar, Scopus and Web of Science) published between 2003 and 2022. This review is based on 30 studies out of 16.700 (the larger number from Google Scholar) that were identified. The chosen 30 articles were retrieved as triple listed journals on Scopus, The Chartered Association of Business Schools (ABS) and Web of Science (WoS). Our approach aims to identify the serious dependent, independent and control macroeconomic issues that BEPS causes, such as severe acute international tax avoidance that has a destructive impact on the Global and European economies.

Purpose This study aims to systematically analyze articles about digital waqf and explain trends, scope of studies and research methods used in digital waqf publications in the past ten years using the systematic literature review (SLR) method. Design/methodology/approach Research data was obtained through the Scopus and Dimensions databases. The data obtained was then filtered and analyzed via PRISMA to obtain accurate data. This step is carried out in three stages, namely, identification, screening and eligibility. From the PRISMA process, 31 publications were selected from the 68 publications identified. Selected publications will be further analyzed with R-Studio via biblioshiny. Findings The findings of this research show that the trend of digital waqf publications began in 2020–2023. Digital waqf publications continue to increase, especially in 2022 and 2023. Meanwhile, the scope of digital waqf studies includes theoretical, legal and practical studies related to management, behavior and determinants of digital waqf. The research methods used in digital waqf publications are also diverse, namely, 12 publications using a quantitative approach with the SEM-PLS analysis method, 16 publications using a qualitative approach with several analysis methods, namely, bibliometric studies, qualitative descriptive analysis, asset-based community development method publications, library research and content analysis methods as well as three publications with a mixed method approach using the analytic network process data analysis method, Delphi methods, SWOT analysis and mixed methods quantitative and qualitative analysis. Research limitations/implications This research has limitations, including not further examining the factors that influence the development of digital waqf and not maximizing data collection through other databases such as the Web of Science and Springer. Originality/value This study was conducted to fill the gap regarding a systematic review that places a special focus on digital waqf. A narrative of the review and suggestions for future research are provided to strengthen understanding of current knowledge about digital waqf and directions, to improve the development of digital waqf topics theoretically and practically.

Objective — to analyze the data of scientific publications regarding questionnaires used in adults with bronchial asthma, to evaluate and compare their characteristics, effectiveness and usefulness in such patients. Materials and methods. The search engines PubMed, Google Scholar, and Web of Science were used to analyze scientific data. Results and discussion. The Asthma Control Test and the Asthma Control Questionnaire are valid, most commonly used tools to assess asthma control in clinical practice and research. Alternative tools such as The 30 Second Asthma Test and the Royal College of Physicians three questions have been developed and recommended for use in primary care practice. The Asthma Impairment and Risk Questionnaire has recently been developed, a validated, simple yet comprehensive instrument that aims to measure both current control and future risk of exacerbation. The use of the Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire in patients with asthma to assess the quality of life can provide additional information about the patient’s condition and help improve the outcome of therapy. Patients with asthma should be repeatedly assessed and improved with the Inhaler Technique Questionnaire, especially before considering any steps in treatment when asthma remains uncontrolled. The use of questionnaires in patients with asthma, such as: Inhaler Adherence Questionnaire, Test of Adherence to Inhalers, Respiratory Adherence Care Enhancer Questionnaire, makes it possible to identify low adherence to the prescribed therapy, and to identify the reasons for its non-adherence. Conclusions. The use of questionnaires to assess asthma control, risk of exacerbations, adherence to treatment deserves due attention and application in clinical practice. Physicians providing assistance to patients with asthma at various levels of medical care should be familiar with the existing tools for determining adverse factors affecting asthma therapy and use them in their work. The use of asthma-specific questionnaires provides an opportunity to obtain an accurate picture of the patient’s adherence to treatment, ensures that a patient receives the maximum benefit from the prescribed therapy and prevents unnecessary intensification of therapy.

 Abstract
 Objective – To determine the most comprehensive database(s) for agricultural literature searching.
 Design – Data collection and analysis was conducted using a modified version of the bibliography method, overlap analysis, chi square tests, and data visualization methods.
 Setting – An academic library in the U.S.
 Subjects – Eight commonly used bibliographic databases, including comprehensive agricultural indexes (AGRICOLA, AGRIS, and CAB Abstracts), specialized databases (BIOSIS Previews and FSTA), and multidisciplinary databases (Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science).
 Methods – The researchers selected three review articles that represented sub-topics within the field of agriculture. Sources listed in the bibliographies of the three review articles were used to build a bibliographic citation set for analysis.
 Using a modified version of the bibliography method, 90 citations were randomly selected from the above-mentioned citation set. Researchers then turned to the 8 selected databases and searched for all 90 citations in each platform. Search queries were crafted in two ways: unique title strings in quotation marks and combinations of terms entered into the “title”, “keyword”, “journal source”, and “author” fields. Citations were considered to be covered in a database if the full bibliographic record was located using the above-mentioned search strategy.
 Next, chi square tests were used to evaluate if the expected number of citations from the sample group were found in each database or if the frequency differed between the eight databases. The overlap analysis method provided numerical representation of the degree of similarity and difference across the eight databases. Finally, data visualizations created in Excel and Gephi enhanced comparisons between the eight databases and highlighted differences that were not obvious based solely on the analysis of numerical data.
 Main Results – Researchers found that comprehensive databases (AGRICOLA, AGRIS, and CAB Abstracts) were not in fact comprehensive in their coverage of agricultural literature. However, the results suggested that CAB Abstracts was more comprehensive than AGRICOLA or AGRIS, particularly in regard to its coverage of the sub-topics “agronomy” and “meat sciences”. However, coverage of the sub-topic “sustainable diets” lagged behind multidisciplinary databases, which may be explained by the fact that the topic is interdisciplinary in nature. The superior coverage of CAB Abstracts over other comprehensive databases is consistent with findings reported by Kawasaki (2004).
 The analysis of specialized databases (BIOSIS Previews and FSTA) suggested that citations within the scope of the database were covered very well, while those out of scope were not. For instance, the sub-topics “sustainable diets” and “meat science” are out of scope of the biological sciences and thus, were not well covered in BIOSIS.
 The multidisciplinary databases (Google Scholar, Scopus and Web of Science) provided the most comprehensive coverage agricultural literature. All three databases covered most citations included in the data set. However, researchers noted that all three databases provided weak coverage of trade published items, books, or older journals.
 Conclusion – The study found that multidisciplinary databases provide close to full coverage of agricultural literature. In addition, they provide the best access to content that is interdisciplinary in nature. Specialized and comprehensive databases are recommended when research topics are within the scope of the database. Also, they best support in-depth projects such as bibliographies or comprehensive review articles.

Problem setting. The article is focused on the basic classifications of educational technologies, and it specifies the position of the problem-developing learning as a means of students' professional and legal competence development. Methods. To achieve objectives of the research the following research methods were applied: analysis and synthesis of empirical and theoretical foundations that are presented in the professional literature of various scientific fields (pedagogy, psychology, training methodology etc.) in works by domestic and foreign researchers. Results. Problem-based learning is presented as one of the most promising ways of developing person's creative skills that a modern specialist needs. It was found out that problem-based learning involves mastering knowledge and a plan of actions made through a problem-based way in several steps: simulation of a problem- based situation, analysis and statement of a problem, forming a hypothesis. It is justified that according to the level of students' independence in educational activity, the appropriate method of problem-based training is used: problem method, partial search method or research method. Conclusions. While agreeing with the researchers (K. S. Kysil, L. V. Kyryllova, O. M. Kyryllov), it is noted that project and productive learning technologies facilitate professional and legal competence development of the prospective specialists. Next perspective for our further research will be productive learning.

One of the most delicate stages of an evolutionary algorithm is the evaluation of the goodness of the solutions by some procedure providing a fitness value. However, although there are general rules, it is not always easy to find an appropriate evaluation function for a given problem. In the biological realm, today, there is a variety of experimental methods under the name of microbial screening to identify and select bacteria from their traits, as well as to obtain their fitness. In this paper, we show how given an optimization problem, a colony of synthetic bacteria or bacterial agents is able to evaluate the fitness of candidate solutions by building an evaluation function. The evaluation function is obtained simulating, in silico, a bacterial colony conducting the laboratory methods used in microbiology, biotechnology and synthetic biology to measure microbial fitness. Once the evaluation function is built, it is included in the code of the genetic algorithm as part of the fitness routine. The practical use of this approach is illustrated in two classic optimization problems. In silico routines have been programmed in Gro, a cell programming language oriented to synthetic biology, and can easily be customized to many other optimization problems.

The purpose of the article is to substantiate the theoretical and applied aspect of ensuring the effectiveness for the strategy of financing the working capital at the enterprise. Methodology of research. The achievement of the purpose set in the article is carried out with the help of the following research methods: logical generalization and scientific abstraction, structural analysis, analytical method. Findings. The optimization of the capital structure at the enterprise on the basis of identification of the need for incoming and outgoing cash flows is offered; compliance with the rules of working capital formation at the enterprise (golden rule of financing, golden rule of balance); the choice of sources of financing the assets at the enterprise and taking into account the criteria of minimizing the level of financial risk and the timing of raising capital. The need for replenishment of working capital is determined and the conditions of observance of the optimal structure of working capital are offered. It is proved that the result of the proposed approaches is increased forecast values of financial ratios, which are aimed at improving the level of financial stability, liquidity and solvency of the enterprise. Optimization of the capital structure is the basis for ensuring the effectiveness of the working capital financing strategy. Practical value. The basis for ensuring the effectiveness of the working capital for financing strategy of PRJSC "KREMENCHUG DAIRY PLANT" (PRJSC "DANONE KREMEZ") is proposed to adhere to a conservative approach to financing. This involves the use of equity and longterm liabilities to form non-current assets and half of the variable part of current assets, including cash, other current assets and deferred expenses. The need to attract additional working capital is proved and the optimal capital structure is proposed: financing of 80 % of equity by 20 % of debt. This approach helps to ensure financial independence from external sources of financing, hedge financial risks and preserve the financial stability of the company. The use in practice of the proposed theoretical and applied approaches will increase the effectiveness of the strategy of working capital financing in the enterprise. The cultural keystone species (CKS) concept (i.e. ‘species that shape in a major way the cultural identity of a people’ as defined by Garibaldi and Turner in 2004) has been proposed as part of a common framing for the multiple entangled relationships between species and the socioecological systems in which they exist. However, the blurred and prolific definitions of CKS hamper its univocal application. This work examines the current use of the term CKS to reconcile a definition and explore its practical applications for biocultural stewardship. We ran a search for the words ‘cultural’ AND ‘keystone’ AND ‘species’. Our search was limited to peer‐reviewed articles published in English between 1994 and 2022 (inclusive) and was conducted using Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. We extracted and analysed bibliometric information as well as information on (i) the CKS components, (ii) humans' support for CKS and (iii) the definitions of CKS. From the 313 selected documents, the CKS concept appears to be increasingly accepted, as evidenced by a growing corpus of literature. However, the absence of a systematic and precise way of documenting CKS precludes global cross‐cultural comparisons. The geographical distribution of authors using the concept is biased. We found that 47% of all the CKS reported and 38% of the works identified in our review were located in North America. Beyond ‘supporting identity’, several other of nature's contributions to people are associated with the CKS definitions. However, the contributions of the sociocultural group to the survival and conservation of the CKS (i.e. stewardship) are made explicit only in one‐third of the documents reviewed. To advance biocultural stewardship as a conservation paradigm, we suggest (a) defining CKS as an indissoluble combination of a non‐human species and one or more sociocultural groups; (b) acknowledging that species and sociocultural group relations should be classified in a continuum, according to gradients of relationship intensity; and (c) explicitly acknowledging the reciprocal relationships between sociocultural groups and species. The issue of distinguishing crime bankruptcy from fraud is not new. It was analyzed by the pre-revolutionary and modern specialists in criminal law. However the problem is on the front burner. The purpose of the study: to develop and propose the main criteria that make it possible to distinguish between criminal bankruptcies and other related elements of crimes and, in particular, from fraud, to improve the fight against crimes committed in the field of insolvency (bankruptcy) institution. The objectives of the study: to analyze the main approaches to distinguishing between criminal bankruptcies and fraud that existed in the pre-revolutionary period and at present; to compare the objective and subjective features of the analyzed compounds with each other, highlighting the similar and distinctive features. Research methods: historical, comparative legal, system-structural, formal-logical and method of studying documents. The study was conducted on the basis of the results of criminal investigations by investigators of the investigating authorities in the Krasnoyarsk Territory from 1997 to the present, and an analysis of classical and modern scientific literature. In the author's opinion, an urgent adjustment of the commented norms of the sectoral legislation and a number of other (departmental) normative legal acts is able to stabilize the relevant legal relations and improve the effectiveness of the criminally-remedial and intelligence-gathering activities of the law enforcement agencies concerned.
