Book Review

Research development has a view to produce story books mathematics. The development of story books mathematics it uses combination model of rowntree and evaluation tessmer. Model of rowntree consists of three stages, in the planning, developmental stage and the evaluation. At the evaluation an evaluation formative presented by tessmer consisting of five stage, in the self evaluation, experts review, one-to-one evaluation, small group evaluation and field test. Using techniques data collection observation. From the experts review obtained the average score the assessment of the experts on the Book 1 of 3,90% (category very valid), Book 2 of 3,90% (category very valid), Book 3 of 3,90% (category very valid), Book 4 of 3,90% (category very valid). Phase one-to-one evaluation obtained the average observations children with Book 1 of 85% (category very good), Book 2 of 86% (category very good), Book 3 of 87% (category very good), and Book 4 of 86% (category very good). The small group evaluaion obtained the average observation on the Book 1 of 88% (category very good), Books 2 of 90% (category very good), Book 3 of 91% (category very good), and Book 4 of 92% (category very good). At the field for observation test scores on the Book 1 of 95% (category very good), Books 2 of 95% (category very good), Book 3 of 91% (category very good), Books 4 of 95% (category very good). Of all stages already done so it can be concluded that story books mathematics expressed valid, practical, and have an effect potential for children.

There was a long debate on the question of the study of the Book of Songs. In that debate, there were two main theses. One of them was to revere the study in the Han Dynasty and to follow the point of Mao Heng and Cheng Hsuan then affirming the value of the foreword of the Book of Songs; other one was to revere the study in Sung Dynasty and to follow the point of Chu Hsi then refute the value of the foreword of the Book of Songs. Ku Tungkao was deeply worried about this situation. He comprehend all the theses then write Mao shih ting ku and Mao shih lei shih to the use of correcting the misunderstanding and inducting. These two books plated a carrying on and inspiring role in the study of Book of songs in the early Ching Dynasty. This paper was focused on the analysis of Ku’s study of the Book of Songs to investigate its characteristics, value and influence. There are six chapters in this paper. The first chapter is the introduction to expound the intention to research, the method of research and the commentary on the resent research. The second chapter is the investigation into two points. One is the growing of the study of the Book of songs; other one is the formation of the fashion of textual study. The study of the Book of songs was diversified by these two points. Then, the most important influence of the textual research of the Book of songs was caused by its scholium. This chapter is also the investigation into the importance of the study of things and systems in the early Ching Dynasty for it caused a deep influence of the academic approach in Ching Dynasty. The third chapter is about Ku’s brief biographical sketch, study, literary works, friends and teachers so that we can know more about him and his academic research. In this chapter, the second paragraph is about these two books, Mao shih ting ku and Mao shih lei shih. Through the versions and general form of these two books, I describe Ku’s intension to write; through the analysis of these two books, I understood Ku’s writing method. The forth chapter is about Ku’s explanation method to the Book of songs. It’s about how he quoted many words of others, checked everywhere to find the main point of the Book of songs. In this chapter, I investigated Ku’s point of view about the study of Book of songs in Mao shih ting ku. The fifth chapter is the investigation of Ku’s stubby of things and systems in Mao shih lei shih. He quoted many people’s words to find the true meaning of the Book of songs. His investigation was well-knit and with original discovery. The last chapter is the conclusion. This chapter is about Ku’s research result, academic achievement in the study of the Book of songs and contribution.

A book collection in corpore is usually used to describe a historically formed, indivisible collection of books having a historic, scientific and cultural value. Specialized research on this topic in Lithuania has been scanty, if any, with the exception of research conducted on acquiring and storing book collections in libraries as well as similar topics. The article aims at investigating the theoretical aspects of using the term book collection and providing the analysis of existing practices and trends with regard to book collections both in Lithuanian and foreign libraries. To achieve this objective, the following methods of literary analysis and empirical research have been used: analysis of library websites, expert survey, interviews with the library staff taking care of book collections at their disposal. The objects of research are the book collections in corpore, acquired and stored in the National Library of Lithuania, libraries of state-level and county libraries. The libraries which decide to store and preserve book collections in corpore, undertake a museum function, that is, the inherent function pertinent to a memory institution. This function is not characteristic of public libraries. However, it is among the core functions of the libraries having the national and state status. Based on the criterion of the former owner, collections in corpore can be grouped as follows: personal libraries (the libraries of outstanding statesmen, public figures, science and culture makers) and book heritage of various institutions (institutional libraries). It turned out that currently 144 collections in corpore are being stored in the National Library of Lithuania, state-level and county libraries, with personal libraries identified as the prevailing group among them (137). The seven remaining collections in corpore are institutional libraries. The analysis of the information available in library websites on the collections in corpore revealed that the material presented is rather scarce and the websites do not contain comprehensive information about the scope of the respective collections. Thus, the user’s access to information is rather restricted. Today, the acquisition of collections in corpore has been reduced in scope, reflecting the current situation in librarianship. The status of some of the libraries which have acquired a great many book collections in corpore (for example, Vilnius University Library) have to be reviewed. Having established whether we are dealing with a collection in corpore or whether it is merely a donated collection of books, we can integrate the books in question into the library holdings, marking book provenance indicators in a bibliographic description in the online catalogue. Due to their exclusivity, book collections in corpore are becoming book monuments. Such a status puts their custodians under an obligation to treat them as the sets of documents having special value, that is, as book monuments.

After the textual criticism of Yuan, Ming, and Ching Dynasties, it was confirmed that the ancient writings, ”Book of Documents”, were not the ancient books of Qin Dynasty. Most of the textural criticism experts considered Chu Hsi's opinions towards the ancient writings ”Book of Documents” as the enlightenment of differentiating false thought. However, some modern scholars clearly pointed out that Chu Hsi's analysis towards the ancient writings ”Book of Documents” actually did not involve the suspicion of the genuineness of ancient writings ”Book of Documents”, but focused on the doubt towards new writings ”Book of Documents”. This thesis investigated Chu Hsi's early writings in ”Yu Lei” and found that Chu Hsi even doubted about the source and non-damaged appearance of ancient writings ”Book of Documents”, and it mainly discussed the proposition of ”False Book”. Nevertheless, Chu Hsi did not continue the thought of ”False Book” because of the lack of thorough evidence, thus he focused on how to explain the difference of modern and ancient writings' difficulty. Consequently, Chu Hsi's suspicion towards the ancient writings ”Book of Documents” was a very indistinct concept, but it was not correct to say with certainty that he never doubted about ”Book of Documents”.

Fit to Deliver was written by three health or fitness professionals—a physician, a physiotherapist, and an exercise physiologist—who set out to produce a “benchmark health and fitness resource for pregnant and postpartum women.” Their goal was to create a programme that could be used by any woman, regardless of her fitness level. The authors state that this book relies on the latest scientific research as well as on the practical knowledge of health and fitness professionals who work with women throughout their pregnancies. This book was first published in 2000, and this second edition catches the eye with its attractive cover and many illustrations and photographs. More detailed information is offered in this edition, including a section of selected references and resources that was lacking from the first edition. However, I was often left wondering if statements made in the book were factual or merely based on clinical or practical knowledge, as there is little use of reference citations. The index at the back of the book is an asset. The authors encourage reading the first two chapters of this easy-to-read book before beginning the actual programme so that the reader is aware of safety concerns and fitness guidelines. The book aims to guide the reader through a fitness programme from start to finish. It would be best to read it in its entirety in order to benefit from all that it has to offer. Fit to Deliver attempts to tailor the exercises presented for each trimester of pregnancy and for beginning, intermediate, and advanced fitness levels. The authors frequently remind readers that the exercises “are not exhaustive and you may add others based on your experience or on the advice of your healthcare or fitness professional.” I liked the vast number of photographs depicting many of the exercises, including position variations. The “tips from the team” that are highlighted in boxes found on select pages are also beneficial and attention getting. One chapter is designated solely for the “core,” with many photographs and descriptions of the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and exercise variations. Included in this section is information on postural changes, the body mechanics of lifting, and getting down to and up from the floor. Even if the reader read no further than this chapter, she would definitely learn some important information and exercise suggestions. Subsequent chapters provide information about how and why to train, introducing program participants to a number of approaches for warm-up, stretching, strengthening, and balance exercises. Although I liked the variety of photographs in this chapter, I found the section on strength or resistance training somewhat confusing. In the sample workout section, I had difficulty locating the trimester and fitness level at a quick glance. For some, this may be a bit daunting—another reason to read the book in its entirety first. At the end of the book are chapters and appendices on relaxation, postpartum exercise guidelines, nutrition, and preconception exercise guidelines. These provide some extra information or guideline considerations for those interested in these topics. Fit to Deliver is intended for all healthy pregnant or postpartum women and includes fitness guidelines and suggestions at beginner, intermediate, and advanced fitness levels. The book may be useful for physiotherapists who work with pregnant women and especially for health care professionals who are uncertain as to what type of information or guidelines to provide for their pregnant or postpartum clients. For some women, the exercise recommendations in this book may be too advanced. Those who already have sound knowledge of fitness training will benefit most from this informative book.

"The Reason I Jump" by Naoki Higashida: A Reconsideration of Autism, Empathy, and “Mind-Blindness”

WANG Fu-Chih was the first interpreter in the Ching Dynasty, who studied ”the Book of Odes” with literally explanation method. With the point view of literature significance and features he commented ”the Book of Odes” profoundly. He was capable of appreciation of the beautiful of ”the Book of Odes”. Four characteristics were stressed by him: Firstly, he interlocked the creation inspiration with intelligence appreciation in ”the Book of Odes”. Secondly, showing up all specialties, he completed the five features of ”the Book of Odes” were feelings, meanings, scenes, theories and events in the contexts. Thirdly, he compared by contract artistic thought with fulfillment in reality and unreality world of ”the Book of Odes”. Fourthly, he thought of the literary influence of ”the Book of Odes” to the later generations. All in all, the essence of ”the Book of Odes”, he would like to see the contrast and the support of the context of ”the Book of Odes” on one hand, on the other hands, he combined ”writers theory” with ”readers theory”, which were are much progressive and useful, was based on his advanced theory idea and established his modern research method of ”the Book of Odes”.

Missing data problem is ubiquitous in many real life situations. Information Technology researchers have explored and tried to address this problem in different settings. In this thesis, we undertake research to address missing data problem associated with order book information in stock markets. This is an in-depth and large-scale study with systematic and comprehensive framework to address missing data problem in the finance literature. Orders placed by traders and the corresponding order imbalance (OIB) is informative to predict future stock returns, however, stock exchange rules do not reveal price sensitive complete order book data for traders. Hence, return prediction using the revealed, incomplete trade book data (that contains only matched buy and sell orders and deletes the unmatched orders), does not let traders to completely exploit possible short term trading opportunities. Hence, this can be considered as a classical missing data problem for predicting future returns, by using the information content of order book. This thesis addresses the missing data problem by developing an integrated theoretical framework applied in stock market trading environment. We use relational Markov networks theory and build an empirically testable Algorithm for Imputed Complete Order Book (AICOB). The thesis contributes by developing a new theoretical advancement of information technology research relating to missing data problem and applying it to financial markets. First, the thesis presents the missing data problem as a Missing at Random (MAR) data and builds a systematic framework to estimate single as well as joint log likelihood functions. The thesis demonstrates that estimating by using incomplete records, improves the accuracy of the parameter estimates. Second, the thesis proposes a Relational Markov Network Model for estimation of the joint distribution function of orders, order characteristics and their interactions. Later, the Expectation Maximization Algorithm is proposed to address the missing data problem during the joint estimation procedure. All pooled regression results follow Fama and MacBeth (1973) and Generalized Methods of Moments (GMM) methods. These methods control the cross sectional and time series correlations between the observations and across the pooled stocks. The proposed novel methodology overcomes the estimation problem in the context of missing order book data. Third, the thesis develops an objective evaluation strategy for AICOB, based on efficiency, accuracy and adaptability dimensions. The thesis uses Australian stock market data, which provides not only trade book data but also historical order book data for cross validating the results. This unique setting allows validating the accuracy of AICOB methodology by comparing with complete order book data. The main contribution of the thesis is to show that AICOB based predictions match with the complete order book data. Whereas, trade book based predictions are quite inconsistent to the complete order book data. The AICOB based results are also consistent with the theoretical predictions proposed in finance literature that OIB predicts better as the firm size increases. The results show that large firms, with higher trading activity and more competition for order flows, report more significant OIB prediction of future returns. Trade Book based OIB estimates, which suffer from missing data problem, fail to predict future returns for stock portfolios. Hence, addressing the missing data problem is important before implementing OIB based trading strategies. Overall, the thesis finds that machine learning applications, similar to AICOB, can be helpful in implementing the trading strategies in financial markets. The imputation of missing data, through systematic procedures, based on theoretical distributional properties of the financial variables, can be informative for more accurate prediction of future returns. The thesis contributes towards establishing a common ground for cross-disciplinary research in Finance and Information Technology (IT) by applying the advances in IT research to solve research and corresponding implementation problems in finance. Further, the thesis contributes towards advancing the order imbalance literature by showing that missing data can play a critical role in the predictive ability of order imbalance.

Jorjanie was born in 433 AH. Elgod said: there is no exact information about his birth place and his date of birth is in the middle of 11th century. He was a student of Ebn Abi Sadegh, the famous Iranian physician. Ebn Abi Sadegh joined the two famous Iranian physicians because he was student of Avicenna for some time and at the end of his life he had a student, which was brilliant and intelligent enough to learn anything his teacher, could teach him. This student was Jorjanie. Jorjanie went to Kharazm from Jorjan when he was very young. There he started to work for the first king of khaeazmian (Ghotbodine Mohamad Ebn Anoushtakin) He lived in the same century as Sultan Sanjar. He lived in Marve for many years. He died in the same time in 535 AH. Elgod said: he died in 1136- 1140. His famous book Zakhireh Kharazmshahi consists of nine books. It is as tick as canon of Avicenna, but slightly smaller than Content of Rhases. His sixth book is about Gynecological disease. Zakhireh Kharazmshahi is one of the most famous books of traditional medicine of Iran, which consists of practical and theoretical medicine in nine chapters. The chapters are health, general disease, anatomy, treatment, differential diagnosis, disease, fractures and surgery, toxins, anti toxins and drugs. Jorjanie wrote five important books, which Zakhireh Kharazmshahi is the most important. This book after Rhases’s and Avicenna’s books is in the third place, which had been used by medical students. Zakhireh Kharazmshahi is an important book because of its technique in writing and it can be used as an encyclopedia and contains standard technical medical vocabularies. Jorjanie tactfully joined Arabic synonym words of Rhases and Avicenna words used commonly in the books of these writers. This article looks briefly at certain chapters of Zakhireh Kharazmshahi of Jorjanie.

i»? A. A. Helal, A. A. Heddaya, and B. B. Bhargrava Kluwer Academic Publishers, Boston, 1996, 176 pp. ISBN 0-7923-9800-9, $118.50 Computing in the 1990s has reached the state of distributed computing. A basis of this form of computing is a distributed computing system, which is built on the following three components: (a) personal computers, (b) local and fast wide area networks, and (c) system and application software. By amalgamating computers and networks into one single computing system and providing an appropriate system software, a distributed computing system has created the possibility of sharing information and peripheral resources. Furthermore, these systems improved performance of a computing system and individual users through parallel execution of programs, load balancing and sharing, and replication of programs and data. Distributed computing systems are also characterized by enhanced availability, and increased reliability. Replication is the key to providing high availability, fault tolerance, and enhanced performance in a distributed computing system. As companies move toward systems that are more open and distributed, replication is becoming increasingly important in the ability to provide data and services that are current, correct and available, which is a key factor in maintaining a competitive advantage over rivals. However, replication has also generated some serious challenges. For example, when a replica is updated, how do we propagate such an update to other replicas? If multiple replicas are updated simultaneously and some of the updates conflict one another, how do we resolve the conflict? How do we deal with the situation where a replica is down and then subsequently recovered? How do we deal with network partitions? Not surprisingly, considerable research efforts have been directed towards the solution of these challenges. However, most of the research results are scattered among many journals, conference proceedings, theses, and technical reports. The book by Helal, Heddaya and Bhargava has gathered the best material of these research results and formed a coherent collection that includes definitions, theoretical background, algorithms, annotated bibliographies of commercial and experimental prototype systems, and more than 200 references. This book classifies the entities that can be replicated on a distributed computing system into the following categories: (a) data, (b) process, (c) objects, and (d) messages. After the introduction on the goals and main approaches of replication techniques, the book uses individual chapters to describe major methods for each of the above replication categories. The main focus of this part, however, is on the replication of data. The book also contains two chapters on the replication issues in heterogeneous, mobile, and large-scale systems, and on the future of replication techniques. Apart from the normal chapters, the book contains a rich set of appendices that are very useful for further studies of replication techniques. These appendices include brief descriptions of two dozen commercial and experimental systems that use replication techniques, annotated bibliographies of selected literature on various topics of replication, and an introduction on serializability theory. Each annotated bibliography contains an overview of the specific topic and is written by an invited expert in that field. The combination of the normal chapters and appendices cover the entire spectrum of replication, from definitions, concepts, theories, algorithms, techniques, to systems. The book serves as an excellent introduction and roadmap to the issues of replication. Although it does not provide a detailed description of every replication techniques and systems, the book covers most of the fundamental work that allows the reader to understand the roots of these techniques and systems, and to find the ways to search for the details. This book is a valuable reference book for anyone studying replication techniques or implementing replication systems, specifically, it can be very useful to post-graduate students, practitioners, and beginning researchers of this exciting field. The object of the article is the publishing of first-time authors’ books in Lithuania. The aim of the work was to explore the situation of first-time authors in the Lithuanian book market in 1990–2009 and to reveal its main problems. The tasks of the work were to define the conception of first-time author, to explore his role and its changes in the Lithuanian publishing market, to determine the ways of selecting of first-time literature books, to study the features of first-time book publishing and marketing, and to reveal the problems the publishers face in Lithuania. Analysis of literature sources and interviews has shown that first-time authors are essential for the publishers as professional writers. Furthermore, it has been discovered that there is a great demand of first-time books in the market. However, it has encouraged the development of graphomania, i.e. the writing of literarily worthless books. For this particular reason, it is important to distinguish between professional and talented first-time authors and graphomaniac writers. Besides, the work shows that the present situation of first-time book publishing is extremely related to a strong competition among the writers and to competition for publishing houses and readers. As a result, the literature is getting more and more dependent on the reader’s influence. On the one hand, such literature creates a higher level of trust between the writer and his reader; on the other hand, it strengthens the commercial side of first-time book publishing. First-time books are being produced by the bigger number of Lithuanian publishing houses. The majority of publishers produce individual first-time books while the others publish series of such books which require more effort and time constraint. Also, such books are being published by both large and small publishing companies, and the financial risk is partly transferred to national or private institutions. In addition, it has been noticed that publishers do not attempt to find or pull new authors and do not use the wide possibilities of literature festivals and contests. The research of a specific case has revealed the fact that it is not necessary to promote big advertising campaigns or use extraordinary marketing actions and money to successfully publish a first-time book. Most important are a close cooperation between the author and his publisher during the whole publishing process and, of course, a professionally written book.

This study aimed to analyze the quality of textbooks covering the subject feasibility factors, linguistic factors, presentation factors, and graphic factors on textbooks for eleventh grade of senior high school in Salatiga. The population of this study is the physics textbooks. The samples are Book A and Book B. Book A written by Marthen Kanginan and published by Erlangga. The results of the analyze of subject feasibility factors, linguistic factors, presentation factors, and graphic factors of Book A 96,53 %, 100%, 76,39%, 91,67% , then Book B get the scores 62,78%, 75,76%, 89,77%, 95,83% . Based on the result of analysis above , it could be concluded that Book A belonging to the criteria of “very good”, and Book B belonging to the criteria of “good”.

Jeff Magee and Jeff Kramer John Wiley and Sons, New York, NY, 1999, 374 pp. ISBN 0471987107, $64.99 The book is an introductory text to the ideas, concepts, and topics of concurrency. The text focuses on understanding concepts and techniques, and problems of concurrency, not on the implementation or language. The author's overall goal is that by a combination of learning and doing using Java should make the process of acquiring the skills relating to concurrency interesting, enjoyable, and challenging. The Java language is thus used only for illustration and programming experience of the reader. The book is intended for a computer science student or software developer. A background in programming is expected, as well as some familiarity with the essential concepts of object-oriented programming. Knowledge of the Java programming language and operating systems concepts is beneficial but not required. After reading the text, a reader can expect to have a broad understanding of the concepts of concurrency, the problems that arise, methods to emphasis desirable properties in a concurrent system, and ways to avoid the undesirable ones. The text provides a systematic treatment of concepts, as means to rigorously specify and model concurrent systems, with Java examples to animate and illustrate the concepts discussed. The book is organized into twelve chapters, with three appendices. The first eight chapters provide a concise and comprehensive foundation of concurrency, with the remaining four chapters focusing on more advanced concepts. The latter four chapters are somewhat supplemental and can be read at the discretion of the reader. The content of the text is self-contained, with no reliance upon external references. The authors provide a concluding set of notes and further topics which reference external works, but these are not used in the chapter contents. The introduction provides the foundation for the book, and an idea of what will follow in the rest of the text. The basics of modeling and Java are covered. Authors follow with the concepts of processes, threads and with the idea of concurrency. The emphasis is on using Java, and on the notation used to define a concurrent process or thread. The discussion continues covering interleaving and asynchronous concurrency. Various details about composition of parallel processes and finite state processing modeling are presented. The programming of concurrent execution using Java is then examined via the concept of multiple threads. Here, sharing objects among Java threads is also discussed. The concept of conditional synchronization is covered next, and is used to construct a monitor. The methods of the base object in Java is used, and a waiting queue associated with a Java object is discussed and implemented. This discussion is followed by introduction of deadlock. Authors show the conditions necessary for a deadlock to occur and present an analysis of a concurrent system establishing that such a system is deadlock-free. The classic Dining Philosopher's problem is used to illustrate the distinction between finding deadlocks in models and in programs. The presentation continues with the safety property (that asserts that nothing bad happens), and the liveliness property (that asserts that nothing good happens). Here, authors use the material on model-based design to consolidate many of the concepts previously discussed. No one modeling method or design methodology is emphasized. Then creation and elimination of threads in a running program is covered next. The dynamic starting and stopping of Java threads is presented. The discussion moves then to messaging passing. Asynchronous and synchronous messaging is presented with Java programming examples. The concept of a rendezvous, allowing for interaction in a messaging system, is also presented. Based on the concepts developed so far filter-pipeline, supervisor-worker, and announcer-listener concurrent architectures are examined. Java programs demonstrating how the elements of each model interact at runtime are developed. The presentation completes with modeling and implementing of timed systems. Time is signaled by the passage of successive time ticks. The authors then elaborate on a system that is event-based rather than thread-based. Java programs are used to illustrate in implementation the concepts discussed. The three appendices provide a reference, specification, and listing of semantics for the finite-state modeling algebra used by the authors throughout the book. The text is ideal for teaching in a classroom environment, or for a motivated reader to use for self-paced learning. Its organization follows a logical train of discussion and thought, with each chapter building successively on the other, with the more difficult concepts and topics withheld until later. This gradual approach makes the material flow smoothly and cohesively from the beginning to the end. The book is intended as a textbook, so does organize the material and discussion as one, but does not become too dry or bland to stifle the reader's interest in the material. The examples are inter-mixed with the discussion to highlight and emphasize essential points the authors make in each chapter. The text illustrates concepts well under discussion, and does not become a long-winded recital of theory. The topics examined are fundamental to concurrency, and are well illustrated and discussed, but no one topic is examined extensively. The code examples are well written concerning the programming style, indentation and comments. A CD is provided, containing the codes from the book. In addition supplementary material consisting of presentation slides and an errata is provided on the author's WWW site, as well as on the CD. The book is up to date both on the topics of concurrency, and with the Java applets, code, and programs used to illustrate them. Later, as the Java language evolves, the examples may need to be updated, but for the time being the text well represents that state of the Java language. William F.
