In order to increase IT and business agility or to improve IT systems and business processes integration many organizations are currently implementing business process management systems (BPMS) or adopting a service-oriented architecture (SOA) paradigm. However, in doing so, IT complexity will admittedly increase and IT managers then are in need of effective governance techniques covering both strategic initiatives, BPM and SOA. This contribution re-examines the problem domain in the novel Enhanced Process-Driven Architecture (ePDA) model in order to systematically derive the requirements for combined BPM and SOA governance. We then formulate a semantic meta model capable of capturing necessary artifacts and describe its technical implementation in Software AG’s and Fujitsu’s joint CentraSite governance re gis try/repository. Business Process Management Systems (BPMS) are a component of the stack of Web standards that comprise Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Such systems are representative of the architectural framework of modern information systems built in an enterprise intranet and are in contrast to systems built for deployment on the larger World Wide Web. The REST architectural style is an emerging style for building loosely coupled systems based purely on the native HTTP protocol. It is a coordinated set of architectural constraints with a goal to minimize latency, maximize the independence and scalability of distributed components, and facilitate the use of intermediary processors.Within the development community for distributed, Web-based systems, there has been a debate regarding themerits of both approaches. In some cases, there are legitimate concerns about the differences in both architectural styles. In other cases, the contention seems to be based on concerns that are marginal at best. In this chapter, we will attempt to contribute to this debate by focusing on a specific, deployed use case that emphasizes the role of the Semantic Web, a simple Web application architecture that leverages the use of declarative XML processing, and the needs of a workflow system. The use case involves orchestrating a work process associated with the data entry of structured patient record content into a research registry at the Cleveland Clinic’s Clinical Investigation department in the Heart and Vascular Institute.

This article describes the authors’ methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of the implementation of business process management systems (Business Process Management Systems). The current methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of IT systems implementation is too general and ineffective to the specificity of BPM implementations. Literature analysis and research conducted by the authors indicate that the area related to the assessment of the effectiveness of BPM information systems is very complex but at the same time very attractive from a practical and applied point of view. The authors explain the organizational implications of BPM implementation and they point out what gives you the transition from a functionally oriented organization to a process approach. In terms of time, the scope of work covers the key achievements and publications from the BPM systems of the last 20 years. In spatial terms work includes evaluating BPMS implementations in the insurance and energy sectors. Case studies and practical information on implemented business process management systems are presented in the material to prove it’s value.

Quality criteria for process design in the design process — industrial case studies and an expert panel

Purpose. The aim of the article is to identify the key features of the implementation of digital solutions in the business process management system of modern enterprises. Methodology of research. The following research methods were used to achieve the set goal: methods of system analysis (to analyse problems during the planning of the implementation of digital solutions in the business process management system of modern enterprises); methods of scientific abstraction, deduction and induction (for formulating a scientific hypothesis of work, laws and principles), analysis and synthesis – to analyse the state of development of the business process management system of modern enterprises; abstract and logical (for making theoretical generalizations, substantiating research methodology, formulating conclusions). The tabular method clearly reflects the current state of the investigated problem. Findings. It has been established that the transition to a digital economy is based on technologies that define the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which consists of digitization and includes the saturation of the physical world with electronic and digital devices. The study also found that the process of digital transformation of business processes consists of elements such as customer interaction, operational business processes and enterprise models. It is determined that the implementation of digital solutions in each of these parts of the model opens up new opportunities for the development of enterprises. It is substantiated that the introduction of digital solutions in the management of business processes of enterprises has a positive impact on efficiency, flexibility and adaptability to changes in the external environment. It is noted that in order to maintain competitiveness, it is important not only to implement technology, but also to change the corporate culture and adapt employees to new tools. The study also highlights the most common digital solutions that are often implemented by modern enterprises: artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, Internet of Things and cloud computing, which provide transparency, security and integration in business process management. Originality. A modern systematic overview of the most common digital solutions used to manage business processes at the enterprise has been further developed. Practical value. The results of the study can be useful for business managers and business process management specialists, as they provide a clear idea of the advantages and peculiarities of using digital solutions in the practice of enterprises. The article considers the concept of a learning management system; examines the principles of a learning management system; highlights the features of Learning Management Systems; provides an analytical review of the most common learning management platforms. The article reveals a comparative analysis of both commercial and free integrated electronic management systems of the educational process with electronic management systems of their own development of higher educational institutions, as well as their functional capabilities in management educational process and their characteristics. Known educational management systems the process is focused on supporting the main functions of training. When analyzing the scientific literature on the development of control systems, we found that many scientists have dealt with this problem. The article discusses in detail the most popular learning management systems. We found that most users had such management systems as: Moodle, Claronline, ATutor, Mindflash, SkyPrep , Sakai, OpenACS. We analyzed each management system and found out how they differ, what software is needed to install the platform. For a visual example, we have inserted an image of each learning management system so that when describing it, we can see a real picture of the software. Visualization helps inform readers about the program. This made it possible to identify the advantages and disadvantages of modern learning management systems, develop a number of recommendations for improving the use of learning management systems. In our scientific work, we have systematized all learning management programs in a table. This allowed us to show them, compare them, and determine which one is the most effective. In general, it can be noted that the development and implementation of modern learning management systems is certainly one of the important issues of education, since they are a modern and effective means of ensuring the integrity and accessibility of training. This is especially true in recent years, when distance learning has become widespread. The transition to online learning is due to the spread of coronavirus infection. This situation was the impetus for the development of online learning platforms.

Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) benefit from business processes (BP), which orchestrate web services (WS) and human actors in cross organizational environments. In this setting, handling the security and privacy issues while exchanging and processing personal data is essential. This lacks for secure business processes management. To achieve this, we represent security constraints descriptively by annotating process models, aiming to enforce these constraints by a secure business process management system (BPMS).To assist the process modeler in annotating process models, we introduce in this paper a tool which provides semantic interoperability during process design. By enforcing a shared conceptualization (ontology) of the security and privacy domains with an ontology base grounded in natural language this tool called knowledge annotator is able to make annotation recommendations according to knowledge stored in a knowledge base. The annotator is validated in an employability use case scenario.

This research examines the evolution and current state of the national emergency management system in the People's Republic of China. It focuses on regulatory frameworks, the institutional structure, and key reforms in emergency management in China, focusing on the 21st century. The author examines in detail aspects of the topic, including the historical stages of the emergency management system's development, an analysis of regulatory documents, and the institutional architecture of the bodies responsible for emergency prevention and response. Particular attention is given to a comprehensive analysis of the large-scale reform of 2018, which resulted in the establishment of the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China, as well as to identifying the unique national characteristics of the Chinese model, which combines elements of international experience and domestic developments. The research utilizes a combination of methods, including institutional and historical analysis, document analysis, and comparative analysis to compare the Chinese emergency management system with its international counterparts. The research's novelty lies in its comprehensive conceptualization of China's emergency management system as a dynamic model that has evolved from extreme dispersion of functions across agencies to centralization within a single ministry. The paper systematizes three key stages in the system's evolution and identifies four unique governance mechanisms characteristic of Chinese practice. The study's main conclusion is that the modern Chinese emergency management system, integrating the best features of Western (integrated management) and Russian (separate ministry) approaches, has demonstrated high effectiveness, as evidenced by its successful crisis management during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also demonstrated that, despite these achievements, the system continues to actively develop, focusing on digitalization and technological modernization of all processes to address new challenges.

The World Wide Web is an unregulated communication medium which exhibits very limited means of quality control. Quality assurance has become a key issue for many information retrieval services on the Internet, e.g. web search engines. This paper introduces some quality evaluation and assessment methods to assess the quality of Web pages. The proposed quality evaluation mechanisms are based on a set of quality criteria which were extracted from a targeted user survey. A weighted algorithmic interpretation of the most significant user quoted quality criteria is proposed. In addition, the paper utilizes machine learning methods to produce a prediction of quality for Web pages before they are downloaded. The set of quality criteria allows us to implement a Web search engine with quality ranking schemes, leading to Web crawlers which can crawl directly quality Web pages. The proposed approaches produce some very promising results on a sizeable Web repository.

We propose and discuss the automation of webpage quality determination. As part of this automation, we have developed an extensive set of criteria for determining webpage quality. We have also developed a set of measures for each criterion. We have designed and implemented a flexible system that uses these measures and computes a quality-score of a webpage automatically. The system is flexible in the sense that the set of quality criteria can be easily adapted to different domain context. To our knowledge, this is the first major work that automates the process of webpage quality determination using an extensive multi-faceted set of criteria and domain knowledge.

Warehouse management and control systems are responsible for the operations in a warehouse. These systems are usually very complex due to the delivery requirements of the warehouse customers. These delivery requirements are often very specific for a group of customers, which makes it hard to reuse warehouse management and control functionality for other warehouses. In this chapter, we will introduce a method that will greatly increase the reusability of warehouse management and control functionality. We present a reference architecture that supports the development of warehouse management and control systems. This modular reference architecture is based on functional components, which can be configured using structural and behavioural parameters. This configuration is sufficient to build a warehouse management and control system. This chapter introduces the reference architecture and demonstrates how it can be used to decrease the warehouse management and control system development effort.

This research focuses on assessing and developing a real-time detection system using the YOLOv8 algorithm. Accurate and fast vehicle detection is a big challenge in modern traffic management, especially in various environmental conditions such as bad weather, low lighting, and high traffic density. The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of YOLOv8 under these conditions and identify potential improvements. The dataset used consists of 16,990 vehicle images with various variations and environmental conditions. After being trained, the model is evaluated using metrics such as precision, recall, and F1-score, as well as Intersection over Union (IoU) with a threshold of 0.8 on IoU. The results show that YOLOv8 is superior with a fairly high detection accuracy of 78%, with precision of 82% and recall above 90%, and is able to detect vehicles in real-time conditions. However, the challenge of detecting small objects or irregularly shaped vehicles such as tractors still needs to be optimized. This research also compared the performance of YOLOv8 with the SSD (Single Shot Detector) algorithm, where YOLOv8 was proven to be superior in terms of accuracy, precision, recall and F1-score. The research results obtained provide valuable insights for the development of traffic management systems based on deep learning technology. The main contribution of this research is to provide a more efficient and effective vehicle detection solution, which can be applied in modern traffic management systems. Thus, it is hoped that the results of this research can increase the efficiency of traffic management and have a positive impact on the development of intelligent transportation systems in the future.

The existence of a wide range of subjects of public administration in the field of physical culture and sports, and this is shown by the example of the Kolos society, requires proper functional support of their activities, as the corresponding specific role of the bearer of service powers. The article reveals the need to apply international standards of the ISO 9000 series to the management of the development of the sphere of physical culture and sports in Ukraine, the use of standards by voluntary physical culture and sports societies according to the "center - regions - society" scheme. This is possible by ensuring the interaction of public administration entities, which include state and local authorities, while observing the standards of management activities and providing physical culture and sports services. It is the ISO 9001: 2015 standard that should be considered the backbone that should be applied to the development of a modern public administration quality management system in accordance with the high expectations of consumers of physical culture and sports services.

The article examines the transformational impact of digital technologies – including artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, cloud computing, and blockchain – on the development of modern accounting, control, reporting, and management systems. The focus is placed on the use of intelligent digital platforms in computerized accounting and control systems, as well as their capacity to automate auditing, assess risks, detect anomalies, and support predictive analytics in the digital economy. Key directions for rethinking conceptual approaches to control are identified, particularly in terms of ensuring cybersecurity, algorithm transparency, auditability, and embedded logic. The study substantiates the evolving requirements for the professional training of accounting specialists, who must possess digital literacy, analytical skills, an understanding of AI functionality, knowledge of information systems architecture, and methodologies for big data processing in the context of accounting and control. The influence of automation on the quality and accuracy of control activities is analyzed, and its potential to reduce human error and enhance reporting transparency and the reliability of financial information is highlighted. Modern intelligent control tools are systematized, including digital footprint auditing, predictive analytics, data cross-checking, and interactive visualization of control outcomes. The main stages of comprehensive computerized control are outlined as the foundation of a digital model for managing business entities. The test data method is considered a key instrument for verifying the reliability of accounting and reporting information, the compliance of algorithms, and the resilience of information systems. The article also presents common violations in enterprise operations, related risks, control actions, and IT solutions. The importance of digitalization is emphasized as a critical factor for improving financial management effectiveness in a dynamic business environment, where the quality of managerial decisions directly depends on the accuracy, timeliness, and analytical depth of financial information.

В статье рассматриваются концептуальные подходы к развитию современных коммуникационных и управленческих систем. Тенденции и факторы эволюции подобных систем подразделяются на шесть основных множеств. На основе анализа тенденций предлагаются процедуры, связанные с оценкой систем и выявлением слабых критериальных позиций. Рассматриваются преобразования исходной информационной базы описания систем в выходную критериальную систему оценок. Предложенные подходы могут быть практически использованы во многих сферах, в том числе, общественно-политической. The article considers conceptual approaches to the development of modern communication and management systems. The trends and factors of the evolution of such systems are divided into six main sets. Based on the analysis of trends, procedures related to the evaluation of systems and the identification of weak criteria positions are proposed. The transformations of the initial information base of the description of systems into the output criterion evaluation system are considered. The proposed approaches can be practically used in many areas, including socio-political.
