Cloud Computing and Forensic Accounting: Friends or Foes?
The digital forensics refers to the application of scientific techniques in investigation of a crime, specifically to identify or validate involvement of some suspect in an activity leading towards that crime. Network forensics particularly deals with the monitoring of network traffic with an aim to trace some suspected activity from normal traffic or to identify some abnormal pattern in the traffic that may give clue towards some attack. Network forensics, quite valuable phenomenon in investigation process, presents certain challenges including problems in accessing network devices of cloud architecture, handling large amount network traffic, and rigorous processing required to analyse the huge volume of data, of which large proportion may prove to be irrelevant later on. Cloud Computing technology offers services to its clients remotely from a shared pool of resources, as per clients customized requirement, any time, from anywhere. Cloud Computing has attained tremendous popularity recently, leading to its vast and rapid deployment, however Privacy and Security concerns have also increased in same ratio, since data and application is outsourced to a third party. Security concerns about cloud architecture have come up as the prime barrier hindering the major shift of industry towards cloud model, despite significant advantages of cloud architecture. Cloud computing architecture presents aggravated and specific challenges in the network forensics. In this paper, I have reviewed challenges and issues faced in conducting network forensics particularly in the cloud computing environment. The study covers limitations that a network forensic expert may confront during investigation in cloud environment. I have categorized challenges presented to network forensics in cloud computing into various groups. Challenges in each group can be handled appropriately by either Forensic experts, Cloud service providers or Forensic tools whereas leftover challenges are declared as beyond the control.

Analysis of Cloud Forensics Techniques for Emerging Technologies
Cloud computing is the technology of the modern era having invaluable features that convince enterprises to adopt. It provides opportunities to the enterprises to compete with their opponents, to facilitate their customers, and grow up their day to day business by reducing cost and infrastructure management burden. Regardless of the enormous features offered by cloud computing, enterprises generally hesitate to adopt it due to the physical inaccessibility and deployment of their intellectual properties to a location that is unknown to them. On the other hand, the cyber-criminals sniffing around to find the loopholes to breach in, and compromise the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the resources managed by Cloud Service Provider (CSP). The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Cloud Systems (CPCS) where the data is processed and stored in the cloud environment, demands the need to tighten up the security of the cloud itself. Identifying and tracing the source of a cyber-attack plays an integral role in the investigation process. Digital forensics in the cloud termed Cloud Forensics which boosts the confidence of the stack holders by reconstructing the past cloud events to give a hypothetical view of the crime scene and describe how the malicious activity had happened? The collection of evidence especially in the cloud environment is the most complex task due to its scattered architecture. Moreover, the collected evidence was used for the investigation to shield the cloud environment from a future security breach and bring the cybercriminal to the court of justice. In this paper, we have presented an analysis of cloud forensics techniques and their practical challenges/limitations to cope with cloud forensic investigators.

Network forensics focuses on the identification and investigation of internal and external network attacks, the reverse engineering of network protocols, and the uninstrumented investigation of networked devices. It lies at the intersection of digital forensics, incident response and network security. Network attacks exploit software and hardware vulnerabilities and communication protocols. The scope of a network forensic investigation can range from Internet-wide down to a single device’s network traffic. Network analysis tools (NATs) aid security professionals and law enforcement in the capturing, identification and analysis of network traffic. However, in most instances, the sheer volume of data to be analyzed is enormous and, despite some built-in NAT automation, the investigation of network traffic is often an arduous process. Furthermore, significant expert time remains wasted in the investigation of a high frequency of false positive alerting from automated systems. To address this globally impacting problem, artificial intelligence based approaches are becoming increasingly employed to automatically detect attacks and increase network traffic classification accuracy. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art in network forensics and the application of expert systems, machine learning, deep learning, and ensemble/hybrid approaches to a range of application areas in the field. These include network traffic analysis, intrusion detection systems, Internet-of-Things devices, cloud forensics, DNS tunneling, smart grid forensics, and vehicle forensics. In addition, the current challenges and future research directions for each of the aforementioned application areas is discussed.

The focus of cloud forensics is cyber-crime cases, no matter the object, the subject, or the environment involved. Each cloud computing environment has a variety of features that make it unique. Challenges associated with cloud forensics can be found at every stage of the digital forensics process. We need to begin by understanding the cloud forensics landscape (the cloud) in order to provide a holistic solution to overcome these challenges. While designing the cloud forensics framework, the elements that make up the cloud should be taken into consideration, which also impact the forensics process within the cloud. An extensive survey of the current state of research in cloud forensics is presented in this paper. Also, a conceptual cloud forensics framework that facilitates the identification, gathering, and analysis of cloud computing events is proposed, utilizing the design science approach. The proposed conceptual cloud forensics framework consists of six stages: identifying incidents, gathering evidence, preserving evidence, analyzing incidents, documenting incidents, and investigating post-incident events. Each stage has several activities and tasks to assist investigators dealing with cloud computing events. Unlike traditional approaches to cloud forensic investigations, the conceptual framework developed in this study is highly applicable.

Cloud computing has fundamentally transformed information storage and enterprise operations, yet this technological shift has exposed critical vulnerabilities in trade secret protection. Corporate data once confined to internal networks now spans global cloud infrastructures, making Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) essential intermediaries in safeguarding proprietary knowledge. The central research problem examined in this study is whether, and to what extent, CSPs can be held legally accountable when third-party actors misappropriate trade secrets by exploiting security gaps, contractual disclaimers, and fragmented regulatory standards. The primary objective of this research is to critically analyze the liability regime applicable to CSPs in cases of third-party trade secret misappropriation, identifying doctrinal and practical gaps within statutory frameworks, judicial reasoning, and contractual protections. The study employs a comparative doctrinal legal research methodology, examining statutory provisions, case law, and authoritative secondary literature across three key jurisdictions: India, the United States, and the European Union. The research reveals that India's reliance on contractual shields and fragmented statutory mechanisms fails to delineate clear CSP responsibilities, particularly where breaches stem from multi-tenant misconfigurations or supply-chain vulnerabilities. In contrast, the United States provides consolidated remedies through the Defend Trade Secrets Act, while the European Union operates a layered framework integrating trade secret law with mandatory cybersecurity duties under GDPR Article 32 and the NIS2 Directive. Across all jurisdictions, evidentiary challenges in establishing "reasonable security," causation, and attribution significantly complicate accountability determinations. The study concludes that targeted reforms are essential to address these deficiencies. Key recommendations include enacting a model Indian trade secrets statute incorporating explicit cloud-security benchmarks, implementing legally mandated contractual clauses ensuring audit rights and incident reporting, establishing calibrated safe harbors for CSPs tied to demonstrable security controls, and developing international frameworks to facilitate cross-border evidence recovery. These measures aim to balance innovation with robust trade secret protection in an era where cloud architecture has become indispensable to economic life. Read moreA Survey about Cloud Computing and an Improved Method of Data Security using Watermarking Technique with RSA Algorithm in Cloud Environment
Cloud is the next generation platform that affords distributed computing environments and dynamic resource pools. Cloud computing is used to crack the daily computing problems providing a full time solution. But the problem related with cloud computing is the data security and data integrity over the Network. This paper is dealt with data security in the cloud environment using RSA digital signatures and robust reversible watermarking technique. In this research paper, we have to tried to increase the MSE and PSNR value of the Decrypted and De-watermarked image in order to prevent more distortion and degradation. In cloud, the cloud service provider or some other person may illegally try to hack customer's information. So, in order to avoid that, customer can encrypt their data by using their own encryption key and watermark their information at the user end. Furthermore, RSA algorithm is the most powerful encryption method used in internet security and Robust Reversible Watermarking technique works good in both lossy and lossless environment. So this combination may generate high PSNR value with minimum mean square error.
