Climate Change Mitigation Through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program

The involvement of the State-Owned Enterprises’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is urgently needed in an effort to support national economic recovery as carried out by PT Pertamina (Persero) through the Pertamina Small Medium Enterprise Partnership Program (SMEPP) CSR program. The Pertamina Small Medium Enterprise Partnership Program (SMEPP) CSR Program can help Women MSMEs in recovering the national economy, especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic crisis. The formulation of the research problem is how is the implementation of the Womenpreneurs CSR program as an effort to strengthen Women’s MSMEs in the context of national economic recovery during the COVID-19 Pandemic by PT Pertamina (Persero)? The research approach used is descriptive qualitative with case study research methods. The first data collection was through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) on the Pertamina Womenpreneurs CSR program. Then secondary data is obtained through the study of documents, news, and related studies. The SMEPP CSR program partners are given capital, assistance, and invited to exhibit production works. This shows that PT Pertamina contributes to accompanying women in the progress and recovery of the national economy in Indonesia. Nonetheless, the role of women still needs assistance and guidance to continue to be empowered in efforts to recover the national economy. Therefore, through PT Pertamina SMEPP’s CSR program, which collaborates with female MSMEs actors, this is a solution that needs to be emulated by several other companies so that the vision and mission of empowering women in efforts to restore the national economy significantly.

The waste management issue in Padeg Village, Gresik Regency, has become increasingly complex due to the suboptimal management of the Temporary Disposal Site (TPS). The accumulated waste is often burned in the open, directly impacting both the environment and the health of nearby residents. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga – Bitumen Plant Gresik has taken part in addressing this issue through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by supporting the establishment and development of the Pandean Pas Waste Bank. This study aims to describe the implementation of PT Pertamina Patra – Niaga Bitumen Plant Gresik’s CSR program in community empowerment through public participation in the Pandean Pas Waste Bank Program. The research methid employed is descriptive, qualitative, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results indicate that the CSR program has successfully increased active community participation at every stage of the empowerment process. The Pandean Pas Waste Bank program has effectively reduced household waste generation, produced organic compost, and contributed to environmental sustainability. The company’s CSR initiative has not only improved waste management practices but also enhanced the capacity, participation, and independence of the Padeg Village community in preserving environmental sustainability.

Besides technical problems the company’s operational constraints that may effect high deficiency for the company is the company – community conflicts. Company – community conflict can also arise depends on the geographic conditions and characteristics of the community itself. Some studies has show that coastal community have higher level of social risk when compared to non-coastal community. Also, the coastal community ussually only rely on what sea provides as their main livelihood. Because of the level of education still contemtible the community couldn’t optimized the potential of their own area. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) har emerged as an important approach for addressing the social and environmental impact of company activities. Through CSR program, PT Pertamina EP Asset 3 Tambun Field (PEP) try to form value integration by utilizing resources from the community and the company by making sustainable eco – coastal living in Desa Tambaksari, Karawang, one of PEP working area. Using sustainable livelihood approach begin with compiling data by doing social mapping PEP has initiate the area to becoming Fish Processing Industry Centre. By implementing PDCA in every steps of the program, PEP has multiplied some other programs such as Organic Fish Feed Processing, Seaweed Farming and Waste Bank for Green Coastal Village. These program is PEP’s effort to create a sustainability environment by enhancing the community’s potentials as well as resolving social problems around Tambaksari. The most important result besides getting our license to operate from the community, is the community itself can grow into an eco coastal sustainable system.


 Since the issuance of the regulation, every company is required to distribute part of its profits back to the community, which is known as the CSR Program. CSR is one of the company's responsibilities to society. The community directly or indirectly, a little or a lot, sooner or later will be affected by the company's activities. So that the community is slightly entitled to the company's profits. The implementation of CSR programs must be managed effectively and efficiently, for that it is important to monitor and evaluate the implementation of GCG principles in the implementation of CSR programs. This research is a quantitative descriptive study that aims to determine the application of the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program at PT. Pos Indonesia (Persero) Regional VI Semarang.
 Data was collected through interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Respondents in distributing the questionnaires were community beneficiaries of the 2019-2020 Partnership and Community Development Program. Data analysis used descriptive analysis, to calculate the index value.
 The results show that the principles of transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, fairness/fairness have been applied in the CSR program of PT. Pos Indonesia (Persero) Regional VI Semarang. However, there are still shortcomings in the implementation of the principles of accountability and independence. The CSR program has been implemented well, but its distribution is still not optimal.

PT Badak NGL through its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs contributes to Sustainable Development (SDGs) realization. One of its CSR programs is Salin Swara which is related to a community waste program aiming at creating society’s collective awareness of common waste and household waste management to preserve the environment. This quasi-qualitative study attempted to assess the social impact received by salin swara stakeholders and the amount of social impact resulting from this program compared to the investment made by PT Badak NGL. In data analysis, this study used triangulation techniques to map the advantages of this program (qualitative) and the Social Return on Investment-SROI method (quantitative). To collect the data, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions, and secondary data reviews were done. Practically this study provides an overview for companies to evaluate their CSR programs using the SROI method, while the results can be a basis for optimizing the next CSR program. Based on the SROI method, Salin Swara program gained a score of 2.33, meaning that the program benefitted 2.33 times the investment issued. In addition, the value of it’s benefit was Rp.31,302,849 with a total investment of Rp.13,437,500.00. The outcome value was dominated by the outcome of the workers Social Security Agency or BPJS Ketenagakerjaan death insurance claims (67%). It shows good program performance because the payback period has been obtained in the same year when the program was carried out

Purpose:This study confers growth the female role of fishermen during CSR programs to recover the frugality of fishermen on the Northern Aceh coast. During a CSR program based on strengthening the role of women, it is hoped that it can increase the economic revenue of fishing families along the Northern Aceh coast. Method:This research uses a sociological legal method, with news causes consisting of primary data and secondary data. This research is qualitative study using a sociological legal approach. Primary data collection is supervised by structured interview techniques, while secondary data collection is supervised by searching the literature in the form of regulations and protocols, journal books, and research results. Results and Conclusions: The findings of the research are that CSR programs were not administered by the firm as prescribed in the laws and prinmethodciplesre. One of the initiatives that companies can take to strengthen the role of coastal women is to conduct coaching or skill growth Exercising for fishermen's wives to manage the family economy. Research implications: Exercising or leadership can be given for dry fish making, brick and woven pallet making business. Exercising is supervised from the production stage to advertising. Originality/value: The Exercising is supervised with mentors to successful entrepreneurs who are qualified and have many rewards, including monitoring and evaluation for the growth of the firm's program.

The empowerment of coastal communities through the management of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program requires a kind of redesign with an approach that can better ensure community participation in determining the utilization and sustainability of program activities. This study aims to describe proactive CSR management by presenting participation in facilitating the needs of coastal communities. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods to describe the management of CSR in the coastal area of the limestone area of Mount Sadeng Puger. Research informants include company CSR managers, community leaders and community assistance groups. The results describe that the source of CSR funding in coastal community empowerment programs is obtained from companies engaged in mining. The CSR program is managed through various forms of activities, including: involvement of coastal communities as workers in medium and large companies, providing health and education insurance, environmental improvement through reforestation and irrigation improvement, providing support/sponsorship in community activities and partnership programs. However, CSR management needs to be developed by providing training and assistance for the sustainability of the program so that it can build community independence.

Mangrove ecosystems have strategic ecological and economic functions, particularly for coastal communities that depend on fisheries-based livelihoods. However, the economic value of mangroves is often perceived only from direct benefits, whereas ecosystem services and non-use values remain underappreciated. This study aims to conduct an economic valuation of a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program based on empowering Scylla serrata farmers through a silvofishery approach, using the Kampoeng Kepiting Program in Kutawaru Village, Cilacap Regency, as a case study. This study employed a descriptive quantitative approach using survey methods. Economic valuation was conducted using the Total Economic Value (TEV) framework, which includes direct use value, indirect use value, option value, and existence value. Data were collected through interviews with farmers and local communities, supported by secondary data and CSR program documents. The results indicate that the total economic value of the Kampoeng Kepiting CSR Program reached IDR 497,330,112 per year, consisting of direct use value of IDR 211,580,112 per year, indirect use value of IDR 280,000,000 per year, option value of IDR 4,650,000 per year, and existence value of IDR 1,100,000 per year. Indirect use value contributed the largest share, highlighting the critical role of mangrove ecosystem services in supporting the sustainability of the silvofishery system. These findings demonstrate that the Kampoeng Kepiting CSR Program not only enhances community income but also internalizes the economic value of mangrove ecosystems into the local economy. Therefore, mangrove management through silvofishery-based community empowerment is a viable CSR model that is ecologically sustainable and economically sound.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs play a strategic role in ensuring that companies contribute not only to economic growth but also to social development, particularly in the education sector. One of the challenges faced by vocational schools is the gap between graduates’ competencies and industry needs, which often results from limited facilities, weak industry linkages, and curricula that are not fully aligned with professional demands. To address this issue, the Djarum Foundation implements an education-oriented CSR program in collaboration with SMK PGRI 2 Kudus and industry partners through the Teaching Factory model. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Teaching Factory program at SMK PGRI 2 Kudus and to examine the collaboration patterns among the school, the Djarum Foundation, and industry partners in enhancing the quality of vocational education. This study employs a descriptive, qualitative approach, utilizing observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews. Interview guidelines focus on collaboration mechanisms among stakeholders, the implementation model of the Teaching Factory program in the culinary department, the curriculum framework applied, and the availability of learning facilities and infrastructure. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the CSR collaboration between the Djarum Foundation and SMK PGRI 2 Kudus has a significant positive impact on producing competent and competitive graduates. CSR contributions include the construction of Teaching Factory facilities, teacher capacity building, provision of practical equipment and infrastructure, and reinforcement of an industry-based curriculum. The synergy among the school, industry, and the Djarum Foundation has been well established, enabling students to gain hands-on experience and better prepare them for the professional work environment. The study implies that education-focused CSR programs can serve as an effective strategy for strengthening vocational education and human resource development. It also suggests that other corporations should emulate the Djarum Foundation’s model to support sustainable partnerships between the education and industry sectors

Corporate Social Responsibility is an obligation where companies consider the social and environmental impacts of company activities and are responsible for their contribution to society and the surrounding environment through programs that can improve community welfare. This research aims to analyze how the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is implemented at PT. Ansaf Inti Resources in accordance with Law no. 40 of 2007 concerning Limited Liability Companies and find out what challenges are faced in implementing the CSR program. The results of this research indicate that the implementation of the CSR program by PT. Ansaf Inti Resources as a company operating in the mining sector has been running well and providing welfare for the community as beneficiaries. However, there are still several challenges in its implementation, including those related to excess budget requests and certainty regarding the status of land that will be used for the construction of public facilities related to CSR.

Chapter 19 - Security’s Role in Corporate Social Responsibility

This study aims to explore the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs carried out by the Batang Integrated Industrial Estate (KITB) in empowering the local community economy in three sub-districts around the industrial area. The main focus of this study is to analyze the impact of CSR programs such as competency-based work skills training, Mandarin language training, and support for MSMEs on local economic development. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, which involves collecting primary data through interviews with informants from various related parties and secondary data from literature studies and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the KITB CSR program has succeeded in improving the competence of the local workforce and expanding economic opportunities through various initiatives, such as skills training and MSME empowerment. The Mandarin language training program has also proven effective in improving the competitiveness of local communities in communicating with investors from China. However, challenges related to low community participation, cross-sector coordination, and program sustainability still need to be addressed. In conclusion, the KITB CSR program has made a significant contribution to the economic empowerment of local communities, but it needs improvement in terms of coordination and sustainability to achieve more optimal results.

The sharing and participation of stakeholders from the Government and the community are essential in mining activities. They are concerned with the role of businesses in society's development. A corporate social responsibility (CSR) program aims at enhancing the well-being of the community. This study aims to analyze stakeholder participation in implementing the CSR program. Interviews were conducted on selected respondents based on specific criteria (purposive sampling). Field observations were carried out in the northern Rarowatu sub-district, Bombana Regency in 2015-2019. A total of 30 respondents were selected, consisting of 15 government employees and 15 members of the public. Data were analyzed using the thematic analysis method to determine relevant themes. Findings show three main themes from government feedback in implementing CSR programs: informing from companies, placation, and partnerships. Community activity in the CSR program has only two main themes: information and collaboration. Although Arnstein described eight stages of participation, the present study only describes three levels of participation, where stakeholders are only at the information mediation level. Therefore, this study supports some of the concepts presented by Arnstein. This level of participation suggests that stakeholders are involved in CSR implementation and community development sustainability. In conclusion, the viability of the company's business and good relations with stakeholders comprising the Government and some members of the public should be maintained. They should be fully elaborate in the enterprise's planning, implementation, and evaluation process.

PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia is one of the largest oil companies in Indonesia. Social responsibility is essential so that the company can operate smoothly and get support from the surrounding community. It is necessary to implement a good Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to construct clean water wells in West Minas Village, PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research and data collection methods through interviews with the field Social Performance Specialist and Government specialist and three Sakai Tribe communities in West Minas Village. The data analysis technique used in this study uses the Ground technique by Miles and Huberman. The theory used in this research is a four-stage public relations strategy planning process by Cutlip Center & Broom. The results of this study indicate that PT. Chevron Pacific Indonesia has implemented the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to construct clean water wells and has carried out all public relations strategy planning stages.

This study is aimed at analyzing the relationship between social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and organizational performance in the context of economic and social economy companies in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Such incorporates investigating the mediating effects of CSR on the relationship between social entrepreneurship and organizational performance. Consequently, a structural equation modelling approach was applied in conjunction with Smart PLS to analyses questionnaire responses collected from 133 social companies in Erbil, Kurdistan. The study results show that social entrepreneurship is vital for enhancing the effectiveness of CSR activities and programs. Additionally, social entrepreneurship was noted as enhancing ways of improving an organization’s non-financial indicators leading to improved overall organizational performance. Similar suggestions were also provided regarding the positive interaction between CSR on the relationship between CSR and organizational performance. Lastly, the study findings implied that there is a need to supplement and reinforce social entrepreneurship with CSR programs and activities to enhance organizational performance. This includes engaging in corporate activities aimed at preserving the environment, protecting shareholders’ interests and meeting stakeholders’ expectations. Ideas provided in this study are originally derived from Erbil, Kurdistan and offered novel ideas about the structural connections linking social entrepreneurship, CSR and organizational performance. The study enhances understanding concerning the use and implications of social entrepreneurship in organizations.
