COMMON MODELS FOR CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT AND AUTHORIZATION MANAGEMENT IN SYSTEMS ENGINEERING ENVIRONMENTS

It is an undeniable fact that software plays an important role in our lives. We use the software to play our music, to check our e-mail, or even to help us drive our car. Thus, the quality of software directly influences the quality of our lives. However, the traditional Software Engineering paradigm is not able to cope with the increasing demands in quantity and quality of produced software. Thus, a new paradigm of Model Driven Software Engineering (MDSE) is quickly gaining ground. MDSE promises to solve some of the problems of traditional Software Engineering (SE) by raising the level of abstraction. Thus, MDSE proposes the use of models and model transformations, instead of textual program files used in traditional SE, as means of producing software. The models are usually graph-based, and are built by using graphical notations – i.e. the models are represented diagrammatically. The advantages of using graphical models over text files are numerous, for example it is usually easier to deduce the relations between different model elements in their diagrammatic form, thus reducing the possibility of defects during the production of the software. Furthermore, formal model transformations can be used to produce different kinds of artifacts from models in all stages of software production. For example, artifacts that can be used as input for model checkers or simulation tools can be produced. This enables the checking or simulation of software products in the early phases of development, which further reduces the probability of defects in the final software product. However, methods and techniques to support MDSE are still not mature enough. In particular methods and techniques for model configuration management (MCM) are still in development, and no generic MCM system exists. In this thesis, I describe my research which was focused on developing methods and techniques to support generic model configuration management. In particular, during my research, I focused on developing methods and techniques for supporting model evolution and model co-evolution. Described methods and techniques are generic and are suitable for a state-based approach to model configuration management. In order to support the model evolution, I developed methods for the representation, calculation, and visualization of state-based model differences. Unlike in previously published research, where these three aspects of model differences are dealt with in separation, in my research all these three aspects are integrated. Thus, the result of model differences calculation algorithm is in the format which is described by my research on model differences representation. The same representation format of model differences is used as a basis of my approach to differences visualization. It is important to notice that the developed representation format for model differences is metamodel independent, and thus is generic, i.e., it can be used to represent differences between all graph-based models. Model co-evolution is a term that describes the problem of adapting models when their metamodels evolve. My solution to this problem has three steps. In the first step a special metamodel MMfMM is introduced. Unlike in traditional approaches, where metamodels are represented as instances of a metametamodel, in my approach the metamodels are represented by models which are instances of an MMfMM. In the second step, since metamodels are represented by models, previously defined methods and techniques for model evolution are reused to represent and calculate the metamodel differences. In the final step I define an algorithm that uses the calculated metamodel differences to adapt models conforming to the evolved metamodel. In order to validate my approaches to model evolution and model co-evolution, I have developed a tool for comparing models and visualizing resulting differences, and a tool for model co-evolution. Moreover, I have developed a method to compare tools for model comparison, and using this method I have conducted a series of experiments in which I compared the tool I developed to an industrial tool called EMFCompare. The results of these experiments are also presented in the thesis. Furthermore, in order to validate my tool and approach to model co-evolution, I have also specified and conducted several experiments. The results of these experiments are also presented in the thesis.

The question of determination of essence and structure of mechanism of management, structurisation and forming an organizational and economic mechanism of management of a company have been studied by many domestic and foreign authors like : L. Kas'yanyuk, O. V. Kendyukhov, N. M. Korsikova of and others. Uninvestigated parts of general matters defining. The study of literary sources, generalization of domestic enterprises’ management experience in modern terms testifies the imperfection of existent mechanisms of effective management of a corporation in the context of its dynamic development. The research objective. Using the functional and target scheme of cooperation of corporation’s functional subsystems, and also a model, methods and organizational and economic instruments of management, our mission is to form an adequate mechanism that provides the increase of corporation’s efficiency due to different sources of an activity’s improvement. The statement of basic materials. The article exposes economic reasons of the self-weighted approach to the construction of an effective organizational and economic mechanism of corporation’s management. An effective corporate management model is built and the basic stages, methods and instruments of organizational and economic mechanism of corporation’s management are analyzed. Conclusions. An effective organizational and economic mechanism of corporation’s management solves the following problems: providing an effective labor; realization an estimation of an efficiency’s level of subdivisions and corporation on the whole; providing an optimal choice of direction of corporation’s perfection; providing the innovative development of corporations.

The IoT devices are typically shipped with default insecure configurations and vulnerable software stacks rendering host networks exposed to attacks, especially small networks with no administration. We present a network system model for device configuration and operations management. Using this model, we design and implement an autonomous network management platform with device classification and traffic characterization functions integrated in a network gateway. We evaluate the system using a connected home testbed that combines IoT and general-purpose devices.

With the ever increasing complexity of today's IC packaging designs and new packaging technologies of tomorrow, coupled with the increasingly global nature of design and manufacturing / assembly, traditional 2-D EDA packaging tools and design collaboration capabilities do not have the required feature subsets nor controlled and seamless design sharing integration needed to support 3-D design technologies. These current solutions cannot adequately meet advanced packaging's current and future needs. New generation 3-D EDA tools and design collaboration systems that integrate 3-D design and global data collaboration are required to meet these expanding technologies. The conventional 2-D IC package design process flow begins with top-down design and layout, and utilize software tools that only have the ability to verify 2-D design rule checks (DRC). These limited rules, while sufficient for lead frame, single tier Ball Grid Array (BGA), and other single level package types, do not take into consideration advanced System in Package (SiP) stacked die configurations with multi-die advanced bond wire and other connection technologies with accompanying manufacturing variables and tolerances. The lack of tools that accurately model these 3-D manufacturing parameters result in substantial trial and error in the assembly set up process, increasingly poor yields as complexity increases, and in some cases, eventual package / substrate redesign after costly time and resources in manufacturing have already been expended. In addition, the design and manufacturing and assembly departments tend to be organizationally as well as geographically separated with little or no real data transfer or feedback between the departments. The result is evident in current package designs that are completed according to basic rules without the benefit of, nor the ability to incorporate optimal manufacturing data. These designs are completed “successfully” (from a 2-D design standpoint) and then sent to manufacturing and assembly. These “successful” designs are then evaluated from a manufacturing and assembly viewpoint, and real world manufacturing parameters are utilized to “redesign” the assembly of the package to attempt to make the package manufacturable. The optimization of the design for manufacturing can take days or weeks to accomplish through a long process of trial and error. Many iterations of the assembly prototype are made until it is deemed manufacturable, or if not, the design is sent back to the design department for re-design. In order to increase reliability, increase yields, and decrease time to market for advanced SiP and other stacked technologies, a 3-D design collaboration system is required to integrate the design, verification, manufacturing, and assembly processes into a seamless system that is globally accessible in real time by all departments. This system must provide data access to the designer from all related departments, including engineering, simulation, manufacturing, assembly, etc. in order for the designer to be able to optimize the design for maximum performance as well as the highest yield and shortest time-to-market. This system will accurately verify 3-D assembly parameters during the design process. Manufacturing, engineering, and assembly departments will be able to input manufacturing parameters into the design, thereby eliminating much of the trial and error prone in the package design and assembly process today, and the design can be shared by multiple users and departments for true collaboration. This paper explains the role and manufacturing benefits of a 3-D package design and global data collaboration system.

The main contribution of this study comprises a set of detailed contents for safety and security management. The following aspects of safety and security management requirements for NPP I&C systems are considered: relation between safety and security management, safety and security management plan, human resource management, configuration management, computer tools selection and evaluation, documentation management, planning of safety and security assessment.

The authors describe a consolidated information model for configuration management of the service database of network switching elements that include both conventional and ISDN (integrated services digital network) access environments. A set of managed object classes and associated attributes which embrace the requirements of both environments has been defined using object-oriented modeling techniques. Examples of using the open systems interconnection (OSI) tools in defining generic configuration management message structures are presented.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>

Integration of regional human resource management into the process of achieving goals of national economy is of particular importance in the context of the need for a comprehensive and systemic approach to the development of territories. Considering human resources not as a separate sphere, but as a key resource and factor determining the possibilities of implementing the strategic goals of the region, allows increasing the validity of management decisions, which become a logical result of an effective model of regional human resource management. The conducted analysis of existing mechanisms of regional human resource management allowed identifying the advantages and limitations of their use, taking into account the fact that a centralized top-down management model is currently used, which in contemporary institutional conditions is losing its effectiveness and speed of response to changes in local labor markets. The conceptual decentralized model of the mechanism of regional human resource management in the context of strategic planning of regional economic policy is clarified. An improved mechanism of regional human resource management is developed. The study showed that the decentralized bottom-up model of regional human resource management has significant potential for the development of the regional economy. However, its effectiveness increases significantly with the integration of a new institution that ensures coordination and strategic management of local initiatives, promotes synergy between actors, extension of best practices and more complete consideration of the needs of the regional economy in the strategic planning process.

In order to solve the problems of complicated design process, insufficient optimization of design parameters and low reuse of design knowledge during traditional mechanical product detailed design process, this paper proposes a rule-driven product configuration design method. Traditional mechanical product design process is divided into a number of design nodes and partially complex functions of traditional design process are defined in nodes. Design nodes are configured and connected after forming rule-driven nodes ,which sharply simplifies the configuration process of traditional design process and can realize the optimization of design parameters. The basic database that adapt to the design node is developed and the design knowledge is integrated into the basic database and node rules, which improves the configurability of the design process and better supports the parameter optimization of the design process and reuse of design knowledge. Finally, the system software is developed and the design process of Marine diesel turbocharger is taken as an example to verify the effectiveness of the method.

The complexity and dynamics of changes in public administration structures and their management mechanisms can be causes of turbulence and increased uncertainty in the different fields of government action. This article seeks to analyze the possible effects of these institutional movements on plans and structures aimed at Brazilian coastal management, seen as an integral part of the public policies established for planning and management in this field. The methodological approach developed is descriptive and interpretive, with qualitative data that try to characterize the National Coastal Management Program (GERCO) from the stages of a public policy cycle, observing the presence (or absence) of elements of each model of administration in its development. The result of the analysis concludes that GERCO was conceived and implemented in a context of hybridism of bureaucratic, managerial, and societal administration models. Furthermore, this hybridism can be recognized in different ways when we look at each stage of the political cycle. Elements of bureaucratic administration became evident mainly in the elaboration of the program (PNGC I), and through hierarchies in the organization of competences for coordination and the constitution of technical instruments without the participation of social actors, other than specialized non-technicians. The management model is present in all stages of the cycle, from the perception of the problem to the implementation phase of the policy and its instruments. A strong hybrid between the managerial and the societal model stands out, right after the regulation of PNGC II, with the incorporation of the need to improve the quality of management with more participation and action by civil society actors. The cycle assists in the systematization of information about the GERCO structure and shows a weakness in the steps of enforcing in practice the instruments that aim to ensure the planning and conservation of coastal spaces. It is believed that this study contributes to the understanding of the relationship between coastal management and the Public Administration that holds it and determines its directions. It is in the intricacies of the PA, with its potentialities and anachronisms, that the conditions (favorable or not) for the development of the cycles of this public policy (PP) are established, which overlap in spasmodic movements, benefitting more planning stages than the implementation of instruments. and processes related to coastal zone management. A rich variety of version models for software configuration management (SCM) has been proposed over the years, and understanding of the basic concepts and their interrelations has been growing accordingly. Highly-configurable software systems can be easily adapted to address user's needs. Modelling parameter configurations and their relationships can facilitate software reuse. Combinatorial Interaction Testing (CIT) methods are already often used to drive systematic testing of software system configurations. However, a model of the system's configurations not conforming with respect to its software implementation, must be repaired in order to restore conformance. In this paper we extend CIT by devising a new search-based technique able to repair a model composed of a set of constraints among the various software system's parameters. Our technique can be used to detect and fix faults both in the model and in the real software system. Experiments for five real-world systems show that our approach can repair on average 37% of conformance faults. Moreover, we also show it can infer parameter constraints in a large real-world software system, hence it can be used for automated creation of CIT models.

The current study is designed to ensure highway enterprise's business actives to run orderly, efficiently and coordinately, and to achieve sustainable development of the industry. According to the running mechanism and dynamic factors of highway's standardized management, a dynamic mechanism model of highway standardized management is constructed. Combining these results, such as local standards are promulgated, the construction industry, investment diversification and diversification of business are formed in a province. The correctness of this model has been proved.

This paper deals with the computerized configuration management of a distribution network. A distribution management system (DMS) has been developed and integrated to other information systems. The DMS provides various functions for configuration management: topology supervision, restoration, maintenance outage planning and reconfiguration. The field crew management and outage cost modeling subfunctions are utilized in the intelligent configuration management functions of the DMS.

This paper presents DECOR, a configurable design flow management component for online monitoring and control of concurrent design processes. In addition, DECOR allows automatic activation of design actions. Since DECOR is tightly integrated into a framework lake a usual design tool, its approach is also applicable for other frameworks. DECOR allows to control encapsulated tools as well as tools that are tightly integrated into the framework. Manipulations of data objects with arbitra y granularity from files or directories down to single structures can be considered. DECOR relies on a formal model for the specification of design process behaviour. This is especially important for environment openness, since the effect of changes to an existing design process model due to environment extensions can only be assessed if the semantics of the specified design process is clearly defined.
