Corporate identity in interior design

With their various physical differences, pets have to live with their owners in interiors, which is designed according to human scale. On the other hand, human-specific anthropometric measurements, which are the basic parameters in space design, are not sufficient to provide ergonomics in indoor spaces, which are also living spaces for pets. The hypothesis of this study, in which current examples of interior and furniture designs suitable for the physical needs of pets, whose numbers are increasing day by day, are discussed with an inclusive approach in interior architecture; It has been determined as 'when the interiors where pets live are redesigned according to the characteristics of the animals, ergonomics is provided for 'all living things' in the common living areas. The subject of common living space in the literature; Although it has been investigated in interdisciplinary fields such as cognitive psychology, zoology, and architecture on topics such as biodiversity, sustainability, animal welfare, and animal behavior, the subject of 'space organization of shared living spaces shared with domestic animals' as a new approach in the field of interior architecture has not been sufficiently discussed. For this reason, the research is a pioneering and descriptive study in terms of drawing attention to current practices in terms of conceptual infrastructure, architectural design, space organization, application examples and experimental models, making a systematic review of existing studies on the subject, and identifying new trends in the field of interior architecture. The aim of the research is to expand the interior design, which is a multidimensional subject, to include spaces designed for living with pets, in particular the arrangement of common living spaces. Since subjects such as interior design, interior architecture, and design have a wide field of research, the scope of the study is limited to the specific space and furniture designs designed for pets in terms of ease of research. In the descriptive study, the survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was preferred as a research method to review the existing status of the researches in the field of design within the existing sample applications. As a result of the study, it has been understood that the 'interior and furniture design for pets' approach is a design approach that is open to development, is an inclusive application in the interior and has a high potential to be preferred.

Application research of interior space design elements based on image processing

PurposeThe purpose of the study was to find out about: significance and understanding of corporate identity, its elements and CI management in Slovenian companies/Slovenian and international companies with exemplary and successful corporate identity and their characteristics.Design/methodology/approachA survey was conducted among the most successful Slovenian companies (by income and by profit). A total of 44 people, from 36 companies, who are responsible for managing corporate identity were interviewed.FindingsThe main finding is that managing corporate identity is of great importance for company success. Although there is no general definition of corporate identity at theoretical level, the understanding of corporate identity is quite homogeneous – the most common definition according to the research is: corporate identity is a mix of characteristics that organization possesses as a subject. Successful managing of corporate identity, has many positive effects on company's acceptation in a role of subject in the society.Research limitations/implicationsFuture research in determining the influence of the chairman and his personality as well as the board and employees' personality on corporate identity would be important. It is recommended that in future, in similar studies, an even larger sample is included and the thought of comparing future studies with the present study should not be excluded.Practical implicationsThe main practical implication of this paper is to raise the awareness of how important the local culture is when dealing with corporate identity management.Originality/valueA brief literature review of Slovenian authors from the corporate identity field has been made and presented on an international level for the first time. Also, the empirical research on the question of how managers in Slovenian companies understand and manage corporate identity in their organizations is new. The main contribution is that results acquired in Slovenia can be partly compared with other similar researches in the EU.

Aynsley was principal investigator for the three-year AHRC-funded research project The Viennese Cafe and Fin-de-siecle Culture (2006–9), which was led by the RCA, in partnership with Simon Shaw-Miller and Tag Gronberg, co-investigators, at Birkbeck, University of London. The aim of the research project was to cast new light on the history of the Viennese coffeehouse through interdisciplinary scholarship, taking account of recent theoretical and methodological developments in cultural history, literary studies, visual and material culture studies, with particular reference to modernity in central Europe. The project led to an international conference and exhibition at the RCA, which Aynsley co-directed, and a number of publications. In this study, Aynsley bridged print history, often a narrow and technical field, to histories of interior design, to explore the interaction between print culture and the coffeehouse interior from 1870 to 1914. Research was conducted in Viennese libraries to establish how various forms of printed material were experienced within the city’s coffeehouses. The essay argues that these newly designed interior spaces framed a distinctive form of public life in which print culture became a central component. Research drew on collections of works on paper to establish how advertising and posters impinged on the cafe; the practice of reading in these spaces; signage both inside and on the exterior, and conventions of visually representing designs of the Viennese coffeehouse. Aynsley lectured on the wider historical interrelationship between graphic and interior design at the turn of the 20th century at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (2008) and the Deutsches Museum, Munich (2008). He supervised the thesis of the AHRC-funded PhD student Diane Silverthorne, ‘New Spaces of Art, Design and Performance in Vienna 1890–1920: Alfred Roller and the Vienna Secessionists’ (RCA, 2010). The Vienna project was subsequently graded as ‘Outstanding’ by the AHRC peer-reviewer.

Interior design is a profession dependent on a high-technology design process, product manufacturing, and the constant movement of people and goods. While small contingents of interior designers, typically positioned within academia, pursue design for social and environmental justice, the profession is largely perceived as a luxury profession within a consumerist society. Interior design is implicated within the larger societal ambitions of sustainable development, but much evolution to interior design education, processes, and practices is needed to sharpen disciplinary contributions to global sustainable development goals (SDGs). This critical examination of the interior design discipline is inspired by scholarship that reimagines design practice and education through the lens of “transition design”. Transition design provides a compelling portal to examine the ways in which practice and education will transition from current unsustainable levels of energy use to a new energy paradigm. This review is structured by logical argumentation that begins with the global environmental imperatives outlined by the United Nations. Transition design tools are then systematically adapted and applied to the interior design context. The result is a proposal for “Transition Interior Design” with vital future directions for interior design practitioners, students, and educators moving toward a future of energy uncertainty.

تعد العمارة والتصميم الداخلي شاهدا على حضارة أي بلد وتقدمه، وتمثل الأثر المادي والفکري الذي يؤثر في المتلقي لهما وهما مرآة الحضارة التي تعکس نتاجاته، وتعد العمارة والفضاءات الداخلية الترکية من النتاجات المادية التي لها اثرها في إغناء المشاهد بالصور والشواهد الحية على حضارتها بغنى تفاصيلها المعمارية والداخلية على حد سواء والتي تحمل في ثناياها صفحات من التاريخ لمشاهديها وهي بوابة مهمة من بوابات السياحة في المنطقة والتي تجذب القاصي والداني لها. وقد وجدت الباحثة قصورا في الدراسات التي تتناول التصاميم الداخلية الترکية لذا ارتأت الباحثة دراسة موضوع (الإغناء في تصاميم الفضاءات الداخلية للعمارة الترکية – مسجد آيا صوفيا أنموذجا) بغية تسليط الضوء على مفهوم الإغناء الفکري والجمالي المتجسد في تلک الفضاءات والولوج في هذا الحقل القيم والغني بالمعاني والدلالات الفکرية، وأن تکون هذه الدراسة مفتاحا لدراسات أخرى تليها، ومرجعا علميا للباحثين في تخصص العمارة والتصميم الداخلي لما للعمارة الترکية من أهمية حضارية في العالم والمنطقة خصوصا. وتحقيقا لهدف البحث (التوصل إلى أهم عوامل الإغناء في التصميم الداخلي لفضاء مسجد آيا صوفيا)، فقد تناول البحث في إطاره النظري مفهوم الإغناء لغة واصطلاحا وأنواع الإغناء في التصميم الداخلي الإغناء الشکلي وإغناء المعنى واستعراض آراء الباحثين ومدى انعکاس الغنى الشکلي والفکري التعبيري في الأنموذج البحثي وصولا إلى أهم النتائج العلمية منها: - إن الإغناء في التصميم ينتج من غنى التفاصيل الشکلية المتنوعة من الزخارف والألوان الموزعة في وحدة المساحة السطحية، وقد يأتي الإغناء أيضا من غموض التفاصيل التي تفتح أفقا واسعا للتأويل والتفسير. - التحول الموضوعي للمبنى منذ إنشائه کنيسة إلى مسجد ومن ثم متحف أضفى عليه غنى المعنى التأريخي فضلا عن الإغناء الشکلي التصميمي خارجيا وداخليا، فقد زاده غموضا وتشويقا لکل متلقي يرغب في معرفة تفاصيل هذا التحول وانعکاساته التصميمية على المبنى. Abstract: Architecture and interior design are living proof of the civilization and progress of a country. They represent the physical and intellectual impact that affects the recipient and are the mirror that reflects the products of a civilization. Turkish architecture and interior spaces are considered the physical product that has an enriching impact which adds scenic richness and are living evidences of the Turkish civilization through the enrichment of architectural and interior details. Both of which carry pages of history for its viewers and represent an important tourism gateway in the region that attracts people near or far. The researcher has found a lack in the studies that deal with Turkish interior designs in Iraq. Therefore, the researcher has decided to study the subject of enrichment in the designs of interior spaces of Turkish architecture - case study of the Hagia Sophia - in an aim to highlight the concept of intellectual and aesthetical enrichment embodied in these spaces and provide an access to this valuable field that is rich in meanings and intellectual connotations, and for this study to be considered the key for follow up studies and a scientific reference to researchers that specialize in Turkish architecture and interior design as they have a significant cultural value internationally in general and the region in particular. In order to achieve the goal of the research (defining enrichment factors of the highest importance in the interior design of the Hagia Sophia mosque), in the theoretical framework, the research deals with the concept of enrichment in terms of linguistics and terminology, types of enrichment in interior design, forms and concepts and to showcase the views of researchers and the extent of formal and conceptual enrichment in the case study to conclude the most important scientific results: - Enrichment in design results from the intensity of various formal details concerning decorations and the color distribution in the surface area unit. Enrichment may also come as a result of the vagueness of details that open wide horizons for explanation and interpretation. - The subjective transformation of the building since it was originally established as a church then changed to a mosque and afterwards to a museum which added a historical to its meaning as well as the formal enrichment in the internal and external design of the building. It has also added mystique and interest to each recipient wishing to know the details of this transformation and its design implications on the building.

The notion of designed space often comes up with the tendency of perfection. This approach, which connects the design to perfection, is mostly reflected in the overall design, even in the representations. In this approach, the power of representation advances in direct proportion to its perfection and perfection is expected in the designed spaces. The situation created by this perfect representation and the reflection of perfection to the design also emerges in the “home” where daily encounters and routines are most intense. Rather than a flawless photogenic object, interiors are dynamic and variable environments containing daily encounters. The interior design practice can be handled from this context and actively influence the design methodology itself. The study shows that as the concept of “home” moves away from a photogenic object, the potential of designing a multi-layered and flexible living space in interior design studios increases. This situation provides alternative spatial articulations in the final product and representations as well as in the interior design process.

The subject of the research is the types of decorative and applied art, the connection of decorative and applied art with the interior design of residential and public spaces. Special attention is paid to the fact that in modern interior design, the tendency to transform interior space using decorative and applied art objects is widespread, which determine the overall style of the room, despite the particular academic design style used in the project. The author examines in detail such aspects of the topic as the influence of the author's thing on the exclusivity of the project, giving a typical interior individuality by including an object of decorative and applied art made specifically for this room, or competently selected by a specialist taking into account the specifics and purpose of the room, the transformation of the project from a typical to an individual one. The author analyzed and systematized modern methods and techniques of introducing the author's art into the interior design of premises for various purposes. Based on the results of the study, a general methodology was formed and proposed for integrating things into the interior of the proposed spaces, the concept of transforming rooms using objects and techniques of decorative and applied art. The main conclusion of the research is that the author's art object of decorative and applied art, created in a certain way and integrated into the interior design, allows to form a certain concept of a thing in the interior, a philosophy or even your own unique and recognizable author's style. The novelty of the research lies in determining the current trend of integrating handmade objects into the interiors and spaces of residential and commercial premises for various purposes in order to give uniqueness, which contributes to the development of the design industry and art in general.

室內設計空間類型多元廣泛，包括商業空間、辦公空間、住宅空間，細分又可有所謂餐飲、銷售、廠辦等等，如何讓高等設計教育能夠應付外界不同類型的設計工作是很重要的一環。本研究針對學界、業界之間的學用落差，提出兩個問題1.在室內設計執業領域中其非住宅與住宅空間其工作內容的差異為何？2.針對學用合一之目標，室內設計教育以住宅－－非住宅空間專業分流的可能性？本研究以步驟一質性：「專家訪談法」，討論教育與執業過程中，對於住宅與非住宅兩種類型的專業知能差異探討。步驟二量性：「問卷調查法」，針對文獻與步驟一所整理出的室內設計專業學習項目以問卷了解各項專業知能的差異細節。研究結果發現，本研究所歸納出的31個專業學習項目可分為五大面向探討：1.使用者與使用評估2.專業知識3.溝通與呈現4.文件與法規5.工程管理整合。此五種面向在質性與量性分析皆呈現顯著差異，其中以專業知識差異最大，溝通與呈現差異最小，顯示若想要拉近產學距離，在專業知識面向中高度差異之項目，授課規劃上確實有分流教學之必要。The types of interior design spaces are much diversified, including commercial, office and residential spaces, which can also be divided into food, sales industry, and factory offices. This research is focusing on asking two questions in responding to the gap between the industry and academia.1. What is the difference in the work content between non-residential and residential spaces in interior design practice? 2. Is it possible for interior design education to have professional courses for non-residential space and residential space respectively (streaming)? Step one: Qualitative: expert interview method- this method discusses the difference between residential and non-residential professional knowledge in the process of education and career. Step two: Quantitative: Questionnaire survey method, based on the interior design work items sorted out in the literature and method one, we use questionnaires to understand the detailed differences in professional knowledge of each different category. The results of the study have found that there are 31 professional work items can be divided into five major aspects: 1.User and their evaluation. 2.Professional knowledge. 3.Communication and presentation. 4.Documents and regulations. 5.Project management integration. These five aspects show significant differences in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Among them, aspects2 is the most significant, while aspects3 is the least significant. This result demonstrates that if we want to narrow down the gap between industry and academia, it will be necessary to teach courses with medium, high level of differences and difficulties by utilizing streaming education.

Environmental psychology research and the emotional design boom have led to a series of theoretical studies and practical activities on emotional design in space. It includes interior design, architectural design, display design, and other space planning and design work. In order to conduct a deeper study and practice of emotional space design, a bibliometric and review approach was used to visualise and analyse data from the literature on emotional space design to understand the development trends of emotional space design. The literature data were sourced from the Web of Science (WoS), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI Expanded), Social Science Citation Index (SSCI), and Arts Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) as the literature search source, enter TS=((emotion OR affective) AND (space design OR interior design OR landscape architecture )) in the advanced search formula generator, and set the search time to the whole year, i.e., 1991-2023. And 1146 documents were obtained. After excluding articles with missing field information, duplicate data, and those with no relevance to the selected topic, 629 valid documents were finally accepted. This paper uses two bibliometric tools, VOSviewer (Version 1.6.19) and CiteSpace (Version 5.6.R3), to obtain critical data such as keyword clustering profiles, Strongest Citation Bursts, highly cited literature, and visual images for this research topic. This information shows that the literature on emotional space design is generally rising. There is no downward trend in the literature output at this research stage, so it is judged that research in this area is in a high-growth phase. The United States, England, China, Australia, and Canada are the major research countries in this field; Cornell, Leeds, UCL, and other leading institutions in architecture and design-related disciplines are the primary subjects of research in emotional space design. International journals of environmental research and public health, Sustainability, and Building and environment are core journals in the field of environmental science and engineering. They all have a high volume of articles (≥20) and an impact factor (IF) of over 4.00, which shows the importance of emotional spatial design in this field of research. The 629 imported documents were imported into VOSviewer, and the co-occurrence frequency was set to 4. Finally, 204 keywords were obtained by merging synonyms. The four clusters formed were named #1 Affective Space Design; #2 Healthcare; #3 Virtual; and #4 Design Evaluation, based on the primary keyword information. In conjunction with the analysis of the Top 30 Keywords with the Strongest Citation Bursts generated by Citespace, future research on emotional space design is expected to focus on Virtual Environment, Healthcare, Difference Sustainable design, topical social issues, interdisciplinarity and user experience and Affective Response. The analysis of the top ten high-frequency references regarding co-citations shows that the underlying theoretical support for emotional space design comes mainly from research in environmental psychology, psychology, and colour psychology. Evidence-based healthcare design research repeatedly appears in the references to emotional space design, which is a research hotspot for emotional space design.

The formal investigation of the interior spaces of the residential bedrooms for children with autism is one of the basic tasks that should be known by the interior designer. Achieving an atmosphere compatible with his health condition, which contributes to generating a sense of spatial intimacy through the design dimension provided by the interior designer and his tireless endeavor to meet the needs of the child in an internal environment that achieves the functional dimension and spiritual approaches that enhance the child’s sense of spatial belonging and contribute to improving his mood and this positively reflects on his behavior and social integration. The current research has reached the most important design criteria that must be available for the design of the interior spaces for autistic children represented by (the bedroom), which will be the first of its kind at the level of the interior design of residential spaces in Iraq.

This investigation surfaces a thought of change in peoples’ priorities toward Interior design of space during the Pandemic outbreak. It re-examines the issues that influenced the change in the overall arrangement of a physical space. Five constructs were identified to validate the paradigm shift in peoples’ approach to dealing with spatial areas specifically in housing during the pandemic outbreak. The research study has shown a strong paradigm shift in the resident’s approach to the interior design of housing. The research study also discusses about the issues faced while stay at home during COVID-19, spatial layout during the pandemic, the utility of space during the pandemic, and targeting to achieve the required resilience through design implications. There were 404 participants considered in the structured questionnaire survey where the snowball sample technique to distribute among the policymakers, planners, architects, interior designers, and general citizens, from various residential areas in the Chandigarh Capital Region (CCR) i.e., Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula who responded on varied issues faced during COVID-19.The outlook of people’s approach and interior design community to post-COVID has offered a new opportunity to re-look at the spatial arrangement of interior space. The residential dwelling units that were earlier considered for relaxation, safety, and storage are now considered for online classes, office work, play areas, recreation, and exercise areas. The post-COVID-19 era has changed the outlook of habitable space by providing a new thought process to visualize a spatial layout uniquely, which may further full-fill multiple interests at the same time.The research study not only focuses on residential dwelling units but also on the way people used their spaces and issues faced. Lack of proper spaces for classes, meetings, office works and other interested have changed the outlook people have perceive their spaces. And spaces during Covid-19 era have offered a fresh opportunity to rethink the design of any habitable space. Spaces with better adaptability, natural light, ventilation, and open spaces may have more potential of resilience than the space having poor ventilation, dingy and no open spaces. Clearly, in the research people of underprivileged were more susceptible to Covid infection and their recovery period may be longer as compared to the people living in planned and spaces residential dwelling units.

As people's artistic tastes evolve, public space interior design expectations have shifted from merely meeting functional and comfort needs to emphasizing artistry and aesthetics. Abstract art, which focuses on form and eschews traditional realistic expression, has the potential to spark curiosity and innovation while creating a distinct inner world. Integrating abstract art into interior decoration meets the growing demand for artistic aesthetics in interior design, which is the main focus of this study. This study begins by analyzing the theoretical meaning and creative value of abstract art through a systematic approach. It then explores the application and aesthetic value of abstract art in public space interior design using case studies. Additionally, the study investigates the influence of abstract art elements on the development of art design in China through literature research. Finally, it examines the impacts and shortcomings of abstract art's aesthetic thought in public space interior design. It uses the catering space design as an example while presenting cases of interior design application. The aim is to provide a theoretical and practical reference for enhancing interior design's aesthetics and artistic characteristics.

ISSUE: To cultivate better designers and design researchers, should undergraduates test their own hypotheses concerning the built environment? APPLICATION: A third–year undergraduate student developed a research strategy to investigate how furniture placement affects human behavior. Two different furniture arrangements, one existing layout and one layout designed by the student, were used as the experiment's dependent variables. GOAL: Primary goals for this study were to demonstrate how research could be directly meaningful to the undergraduate educational experience in interior design and to increase understanding of the complexities of mentoring young design researchers. DESCRIPTION: The student was involved in all aspects of the research project from conceptualization and grant proposal writing to data analysis and presentation of results. The entire process occurred within a five–month period. CONCLUSION: This research experience provided the student with increased confidence and a broader theoretical background from which to analyze and challenge previously accepted viewpoints held by the design community. To lead the interior design discipline into the next century, young designers should be trained to assess critically and analyze new information and methods. Summary As we prepare today’ graduates for leadership roles, we must develop in them the ability for critical thought along with the aesthetic and technical skills stressed in the design studio. Design students, like students in any other discipline, need to know how to define a problem, collect data, draw valid conclusions, and communicate the results. If not taught these skills, the next generation of designers will be unable to distinguish between valid scholarly research and unsubstantiated beliefs. The future of the design discipline will depend on interior designers having the intellectual tools to find that “simple error and to provide an appropriate solution. The undergraduate research project is one method to provide the next generation of designers with the intellectual skills needed to make informed decisions.
