Creation of a Digital Learning Ecosystem Using Research-Based Learning for Future Programming Teachers

Digital transformation has revolutionized the field of computer science, and as a result, education and student training in the field has also evolved. The article, based on the analysis of scientific literature and statistics, reflects the current trends in the training of future computer science teachers in the conditions of the digital transformation of education. In the process of analysis, general trends in the training of future informatics teachers were revealed, such as computer literacy, use of interactive technologies, development of practical skills, and improvement of teachers' qualifications. Particular attention was paid to the specifics of training future computer science teachers in the conditions of digital transformation of education, such as the use of online courses and webinars, the development of pedagogical skills in the use of the latest technologies, and the creation of a creative and innovative environment. The requirements for the competencies of future informatics teachers were analyzed, in particular, attention was paid to the need to possess not only technical knowledge, but also communication skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies and situations. The article highlights key concepts and practices that shape the preparation of future computer science teachers in the age of digital transformation, including interdisciplinary approaches, experiential learning, industry partnerships, and ethical considerations. The article also discusses the challenges and opportunities associated with these trends and provides recommendations for educators and institutions to effectively prepare students for the digital age. Based on the analysis, it was concluded that the training of future informatics teachers needs constant updating and adaptation to the new requirements of the digital age. To achieve success in this field, it is necessary to use the latest technologies and innovative approaches to learning. Summarizing, the article proposes orientation to ensure access to quality education for all students, use of the latest technologies and development of general competencies of future teachers as important directions in the development of training of future informatics teachers. The specified research results can be useful for teachers of higher educational institutions who are engaged in the training of future informatics teachers, as well as for heads of educational institutions who plan to introduce a digital environment and contribute to the development of digital transformation. For this, it is important not only to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills, but also to create conditions for their development of creative thinking and innovative activities. In addition, it is important to increase the level of motivation of students to study computer science, for example, by using the latest technologies and interactive teaching methods. These approaches will make it possible to prepare future informatics teachers who will be able to work successfully in the modern digital world and will contribute to the further development of digital transformation in education.

“Good luck on your first day as an assistant professor, Dr. Tanner! Have a great class!” On the wall above my desk, these words scream out from an otherwise encouraging note that is adorned with many exclamation points. This note has hung on my wall since my very first day as an Assistant Professor of Biology. As I was charging off to teach my first class, a senior faculty member who had been on my hiring committee slipped this note under my office door. In moments of pause years later, I still stare up at that note and breathe a sigh of relief that I had much more than luck to guide me on my first day as a college-level teacher. Although I continue to have much to learn—as all of us do no matter the number of years of teaching experience—I did arrive at the university with both formal and informal training in science education. I had had plenty of exposure to innovative pedagogical approaches, questioning strategies, and techniques for engaging diverse audiences in learning science. As a scientist educator, I had had the privilege of many years of collaboration with outstanding K–12 educators as well as a postdoctoral fellowship in science education. However, my training has been, to say the least, unconventional compared with that of my fellow junior faculty and unique in its preparation in regard to the teaching and learning of my discipline. It will not be news to anyone reading this article that university and college teaching is to a large extent a profession with no formal training. It’s startling but true that the majority of faculty members—and lecturers who often teach large numbers of students—have no formal training in the teaching and learning of their discipline. In fact, the hiring process in university science departments is structured primarily to evaluate a faculty candidate’s ability to be a productive researcher, with success measured in number of publications and magnitude of grant funds raised. Depending on the type of institution, for example, research university, state-level university, or liberal arts college, there may be a component of the faculty interview process that probes a candidate’s teaching ability, for example, requesting a statement of teaching philosophy and requiring the candidate to teach a sample lecture class. However, this sample lecture often screens for gross inadequacies, rather than looking for stellar innovations or pedagogical skills. This lack of formal, accredited training for university and college instructors stands in stark contrast to the requirements for a high school teacher who is charged with the education of students only a year junior to college freshmen. High school teachers in the United States must be credentialed as a secondary science teacher, demonstrate subject matter competency in every subject that they will be teaching, and must continually engage in professional development in the teaching and learning of their discipline throughout their career as a science teacher. With the 2002 federal No Child Left Behind legislation, the onus is upon each precollege science teacher to become “highly qualified” in terms of formal university-level training in science education. However, no such required professional training or measurable standards for teaching are required in institutions of higher education. Many policy documents have suggested standards of teaching practice in postsecondary science education (National Research Council, 1996, 1997; Siebert and McIntosh, 2001), but the extent of implementation of these ideals is unclear and has gone relatively unstudied, although national and regional accreditation boards do look at outcomes, asking colleges and universities to assess what their students have gained from four years of study at their institutions. Nonetheless, there is a striking reversal of accountability that happens when one crosses the precollege teaching to college-level teaching boundary (Table 1). During the K–12 school years, society expects K–12 teachers to be responsible for student learning. Salaries of teachers in many states are tied to student test scores, and poor student performance can potentially invoke penalties. At a college or university, several variables in the educational universe shift. Students are the ones responsible for learning. This research aimed to identify the effectiveness of an electronic training program in developing the teaching skills and strategies of student teachers specializing in Islamic studies and their attitudes towards it. The semi-experimental approach was used. The study was applied to a sample of (39) student teachers in the academic year 2022-2023. There were (19) student teachers in the experimental group, and (20) student teachers in the control group. An electronic training program was prepared and available in the engine of the E-Learning Center of Kuwait University. The two tools were used for the study were: an achievement test in lesson implementation strategies, and a questionnaire of attitudes towards the teaching profession. The results showed there were statistically significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in favor of the experimental group. This confirms the effectiveness of the electronic training program for the student teacher, for implementing the lesson in developing teaching skills and attitudes. The study recommended the development of training courses related to teaching strategies and skills for students’ teachers, encouragement of faculty members to student teachers to benefit from electronic training courses in developing teaching skills and and developing the attitude toward the teaching profession. This research aims to design and develop a learning management system and learning model based on digital storytelling in the digital learning ecosystem, to study the learning achievement and assess the digital emotional intelligence of the student teachers before and after implementing the model, and to study satisfaction towards the learning management system and model. The research found that the learning management system and the learning model based on digital storytelling in the digital learning ecosystem consisted of the learning management system which consisted of the learner, the instructor and the admin, the digital storytelling learning model in the digital learning ecosystem; the digital learning ecosystem consisted of the Biotic Component and the Abiotic Component. The average score of the student teachers' learning achievement after implementing the learning management system is significantly higher than before implementation. The average score of digital emotional intelligence was at the highest level. The satisfaction towards learning management system based on digital storytelling learning in the digital learning ecosystem was at the highest level.

The principle of the digital learning ecosystem is the application of the educational process through digital learning environment platforms that help users learn more effectively. Educational institutions, teachers and students must evolve to adapt and be ready for the new world of learning. The individual’s emotional quality can influence their readiness in the digital learning ecosystem. This study aimed to examine whether there is a significant relationship between students’ readiness in the digital learning ecosystem and their emotional intelligence levels. This study utilized a correlational research method and multiple linear regression analysis. For data collection, the primary tools used were Trait Emotional Intelligence Scale-Short Form (TEIS-SF) and the Online Learning Readiness Scale (OLRS). The questionnaires were administered to 103 students enrolled in seven different higher institutions in Brunei. The results of the research showed that there was a link between students’ online learning readiness levels and their emotional intelligence levels. This study found that students with a high well-being sub-dimension of emotional intelligence had high online learning readiness levels.

The article is devoted to the issue of the implementation of artistic and pedagogical interpretation technologies in the content of professional training of future music teachers in the study of artistic innovations in educational institutions. The purpose of the article is to consider the advantages of introducing pedagogical, artistic and pedagogical interpretation technologies into the content of professional training of future musical art teachers and to present examples of their use in the educational process of those obtaining a master's degree in the specialty «Secondary education (Musical art)». In the process of experimental work, the following research methods were used: theoretical: analysis, synthesis, comparison, systematization; empirical: observations, surveys, presentation of an artistic and pedagogical interpretation of a musical work. The results. The following methods are considered by the author to be the leading methods of interpretive music-pedagogical technologies: artistic-pedagogical analysis of a work, artistic-pedagogical narrative, pedagogical interpretive cognition, perceptive immersion into the meaningful sphere of a musical work, individual critical understanding of interpretive versions of works, artistic-interpretive activity, presentation of a psychological portrait of the composer, comprehension and modeling the musical meaning of the work. In the author’s opinion the above methods reflect the general process of interpretation activity and are related to the phenomenon of musical interpretation. To characterize the musical and pedagogical interpretation technologies and their pedagogical tools, the author has given twenty one examples of recommended creative tasks for the training of future music teachers on the practical lesson topic «Methods of training applicants for the artistic and pedagogical interpretation of vocal, choral and instrumental musical works of various genres and eras for teaching musical art in 5th grade of general secondary education establishment». Conclusions. The author has defined that the introduction of artistic and pedagogical interpretation technologies into the content of the professional training of future music teachers in the study of artistic innovations in educational institutions contributes to the development of the students' motivation to master musical and pedagogical innovations, allows to activate the development of aesthetic sense, taste, perceptive abilities, critical thinking, and the formation of the skills of creating one's own artistic and pedagogical interpretations, their substantiation from the point of view of understanding the author's idea, artistic cognitive and communicative activity. Prospects for the development of the raised problem are the study of the interrelationships of artistic-pedagogical interpretive and hermeneutic technologies in the content of professional training of future music teachers.

Background - One of the General Medical Council’s (GMC) outcomes for graduates is to serve as a mentor and teacher to peers. Currently, teaching skills are not mandatory in the curriculum of certain UK medical schools. This study aimed to collect medical students' perspectives on being taught teaching skills as part of their degree. Summary of work - A questionnaire was developed and distributed to medical students at the University of Manchester Medical School. The questions focused on students' understanding of the GMC's teaching expectations, as well as their own teaching confidence, previous teaching skills training, and if they would like teaching skills to be integrated into the undergraduate curriculum. Summary of results - Out of the 97 participants, most (82.5%) expressed an awareness about the GMC requirement to teach medical students, with the large majority (96.9%) believing it to be important to develop teaching skills. However, very few students reported receiving adequate training in developing their teaching skills (4.1%), with a large portion (40.2%) feeling unconfident in their teaching skills. The majority of participants (90.7%) expressed that they felt lessons in developing teaching skills should be included in the Manchester curriculum, with more than half of that cohort (54.5%) feeling it should be a mandatory module. Discussion and conclusion - Though most medical students in the University of Manchester are aware of the GMC’s teaching expectations and the importance of developing teaching skills, many feel they have not received adequate support in this domain. Despite the demand for integration of education on teaching into the curriculum, further research is required to determine how best to implement teaching skills training into the undergraduate degree. Take home message - Medical students have a desire to learn teaching skills, but formal opportunities to do this are lacking. Medical schools should make attempts to integrate teaching skills into the undergraduate curriculum.

The article considers the relevance of quality training of future teachers of natural sciences in modern conditions, which is due to the processes of reforming all links of the education system, global changes in the European labor market, the development of world science and pedagogical practice, as well as the shift of emphasis from the accumulation of knowledge to the mastery of methods of activity. The main strategic tasks and requirements for the quality of the educational process and the professional level of modern teachers are analyzed. The need for future teachers to master new functions, new content of activities, search and introduction of modern methods of teaching and learning was determined. Special attention is paid to the formation of ten key competencies among graduates of general secondary education institutions. The article deals with scientific studies of the problems of the individual's scientific research activity, which focuses on the formation of research skills in various categories of subjects. The importance of the formation of scientific-research competence in the system of training future specialists, researched by many Ukrainian and foreign scientists, is emphasized. The multidimensional process of scientific research activity in the formation of the personality of future technology teachers, which includes the development of research skills, independence and competences, is analyzed. The essence and theoretical justification of the students' research activity is defined, which involves the analysis of the concepts «scientific activity» and «research activity», especially in the context of the organization of such activity in higher education. The distinction between the concepts of «scientific activity», «scientific-organizational activity», «scientific-pedagogical activity» and «scientific-technical activity» is outlined. It is emphasized the need to refer to the reference-source base to clarify the specifics of the interpretation of the term «scientific-research activity».  The article examines the importance of research activity in the context of personality formation of future technology teachers. The role of innovative learning technologies, such as problem presentation, heuristic methods, game methods and case methods, in the development of critical thinking, research skills and independence of students is analyzed. The growing importance of information and communication technologies in education requires from future teachers the ability to critically evaluate and use online resources to ensure the quality of learning and active scientific research. The training of future technology teachers should include the development of skills to work in a hybrid research environment, using both traditional and digital resources. Developed research competence is a key aspect of improving the quality of the educational process and includes a system of motives, states, special attitudes, research knowledge, skills and abilities. 

The article presents an analysis of the problem of succession and one’s own managerial and pedagogical experience in its implementation in the training of future primary school teachers in the college-university system. The purpose of the article is to analyze the possibilities and management mechanisms for implementing continuity in the training of future primary school teachers in the college – university system using the example of the experience of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Kuzbass Humanitarian Pedagogical Institute of Kemerovo State University. The methodological basis of the research is the pedagogical principles of continuity in education and lifelong education. Based on the strategic planning method of SWOT–analysis, an assessment of the readiness of an educational organization of higher education to implement continuity in the pedagogical college – university system was carried out. The strengths of the university and objective opportunities available for this process are highlighted, weaknesses and external threats are analyzed. The management mechanisms for the implementation of the principle of continuity at two levels of professional education are considered. In conclusion, it is concluded that the implementation of continuity in the training of future teachers in the college – university system involves the use of management mechanisms representing a sequence of organizational and methodological actions. At the same time, the development of the learning process at the stage of mastering the higher education program is carried out in dialectical connection with the previous level of education and at the same time in accordance with the current goals, objectives, requirements for the training of a modern primary school teacher and conditions.

BackgroundDevelopment of students' teaching skills is increasingly recognised as an important component of UK undergraduate medical curricula and, in consequence, there is renewed interest in the potential benefits of cross-year peer tutoring. Whilst several studies have described the use of cross-year peer tutoring in undergraduate medical courses, its use in the clinical setting is less well reported, particularly the effects of peer tutoring on volunteer tutors' views of teachers and teaching. This study explored the effects of participation in a cross-year peer tutoring programme in clinical examination skills ('OSCE tutor') on volunteer tutors' own skills and on their attitudes towards teachers and teaching.MethodsVolunteer tutors were final year MBChB students who took part in the programme as part of a Student Selected Component (SSC). Tutees were year 3 MBChB students preparing for their end of year 'OSCE' examination. Pre and post participation questionnaires, including both Likert-type and open response questions, were used. Paired data was compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. All tests were two-tailed with 5% significance level.ResultsTutors reflected their cohort in terms of gender but were drawn from among the more academically successful final year students. Most had previous teaching experience. They were influenced to participate in 'OSCE tutor' by a desire to improve their own teaching and associated generic skills and by contextual factors relating to the organisation or previous experience of the OSCE tutor programme. Issues relating to longer term career aspirations were less important. After the event, tutors felt that participation had enhanced their skills in various areas, including practical teaching skills, confidence in speaking to groups and communication skills; and that as a result of taking part, they were now more likely to undertake further teacher training and to make teaching a major part of their career. However, whilst a number of students reported that their views of teachers and teaching had changed as a result of participation, this did not translate into significant changes in responses to questions that explored their views of the roles and qualities required of a good clinical teacher.ConclusionFindings affirm the benefits to volunteer tutors of cross-year peer tutoring, particularly in terms of skills enhancement and reinforcement of positive attitudes towards future teaching responsibilities, and have implications for the design and organisation of such programmes.

Digital Twin Learning Ecosystem: A cyber–physical framework to integrate human-machine knowledge in traditional manufacturing

ABSTRACTProblem: Training the next generation of health professionals requires leaders, innovators, and scholars in education. Although many medical schools and residencies offer education electives or tracks focused on developing teaching skills, these programs often omit educational innovation, scholarship, and leadership and are narrowly targeted to one level of learner. Intervention: The University of California San Francisco created the Health Professions Education Pathway for medical students, residents, and fellows as well as learners from other health professional schools. The Pathway applies the theoretical framework of communities of practice in its curricular design to promote learner identity formation as future health professions educators. It employs the strategies of engagement, imagination, and alignment for identity formation. Context: Through course requirements, learners engage and work with members of the educator community of practice to develop the knowledge and skills required to participate in the community. Pathway instructors are faculty members who model a breadth of educator careers to help learners imagine personal trajectories. Last, learners complete mentored education projects, adopting scholarly methods and ethics to align with the broader educator community of practice. Outcome: From 2009 to 2014, 117 learners participated in the Pathway. Program evaluations, graduate surveys, and web-based searches revealed positive impacts on learner career development. Learners gained knowledge and skills for continued engagement with the educator community of practice, confirmed their career aspirations (imagination), joined an educator-in-training community (engagement/imagination), and disseminated via scholarly meetings and peer-reviewed publications (alignment). Lessons Learned: Learners identified engagement with the learner community as the most powerful aspect of the Pathway; it provided peer support for imagining and navigating the development of their dual identities in the clinician and educator communities of practice. Also important for learner success was alignment of their projects with the goals of the local educator community of practice. Our community of practice approach to educator career development has shown promising early outcomes by nurturing learners' passion for teaching; expanding their interest in educational leadership, innovation, and scholarship; and focusing on their identity formation as future educators.

This study examined the influence of Digital Learning Ecosystem (DLE) activities on the mathematical literacy of pre-service teachers, emphasizing the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application. A cohort of 30 pre-service mathematics educators was chosen via simple random sampling. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design using pretest-posttests to evaluate the efficacy of DLE activities. The tools comprised four lesson plans grounded in DLE principles, a mathematical literacy exam consistent with the OECD's PISA methodology, and a satisfaction survey to assess participants' engagement and perceptions. The results demonstrated a statistically significant enhancement (p 0.001) in participants' mathematical literacy, accompanied by a large effect size (Cohen's d = 1.34), underscoring the considerable influence of DLE interventions. Participants indicated elevated satisfaction across multiple dimensions, including engagement (M = 4.70, SD = 0.42), perceived effectiveness (M = 4.63, SD = 0.48), and accessibility (M = 4.55, SD = 0.51). Qualitative feedback emphasized the significance of interactive components, including simulations, collaborative tools, and real-world problem-solving activities, in improving comprehension and motivation. These findings highlight the transformative capacity of DLE activities in pre-service teacher education, especially in enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and mathematical literacy. The study provides important insights into the integration of digital tools into teacher training programs to prepare educators for increasingly digital classrooms. Future research should look at the long-term impacts and adaptability of DLE activities in different educational settings in order to improve their efficacy.

Our contribution highlights the succession of curricular reforms in pre-service teacher education. Indeed, in moving from a three-year diploma course to a Master's degree, the challenge is both to invest research in training curricula and to develop the role of research use among future teachers with a view to improving their practices. After the changes in teacher training are presented, an example of an innovative scheme that combines the results of recent research on effective teaching practices and the transformation of the practices of both trainers and future teachers is given. This innovative system attests to the possibility of collaboration between researchers and teacher trainers, whose expertise can stimulate the appropriation of knowledge from research in improving teaching practices, from initial training onwards.

The author of the research paper states that the organization of the educational process of musical training becomes particularly urgent, which would be focused on the quality of choreographic education and raise the level of musical culture of the future choreography teachers. It is emphasized that musical training of future choreography teachers is developed and organized by a professor and is realized by a student through certain stages: 1) identification of the goal and planning of musical training; 2) organization of musical training of future choreography teachers; 3) carrying out musical training; 4) evaluation and correction of the results of musical training, that is determination of the music culture maturity levels. It is stated that the efficiency of improving the fundamentals of musical training of future choreography teachers when studying in higher educational institution largely depends on the determination of their tiered characteristics, i.e. on the phase of estimation and correction of the results of the musical training of future choreographers. The research paper deals with the algorithm of musical training of future choreography teachers, aimed at its improvement; components (motivational and orientation, cognitive and competence, creative and performing), criteria (motivational, cognitive, emotional, behavioral) and maturity levels (high, medium and low) of musical culture are determined. The methodology of improving musical training of future choreography teachers is suggested. This methodology to improve musical training of future choreography teachers is efficient, effective and coherent, all its components have a clear purpose, and they are in close relationship and are aimed at achieving the goal.
