As smart building becomes increasingly popular, it enables many interesting applications, such as smart lock, elderly monitoring and remote healthcare. This paper will introduce one sub-system in the smart building: smart power system. This smart power system consists of an Android application, a cloud server and a smart socket. In addition, human-device interaction methods in this system are studied.

The infiltration of the Web as the preferred choice for online e-commerce and IT applications has motivated the need to introduce innovative mechanisms to enforce strong security monitoring and control on transactions conducted over a distributed environment. The smart card technology presents an attractive solution for providing strong security and access control mechanisms that are tightly bound and associated to the individual carrying and owning the card. Despite its potential, smart card services have not been integrated into the networked environment in the way other portable computing devices, such as notebooks, PDA, mobile phones, and so on, have been. This has motivated our design for a distributed computing platform for smart card services to operate over a service-oriented architecture (SOA) based on evolving Web services technology. In particular, the paper presents the design of the WSCard (in short for Web services card) architecture and its implementation based on the application of Web services wrapping technology. Importantly, the design allows us to exploit Web services flexibility to provide a heterogeneous and promote rapid integration of smart card services as first class citizens of Web services. With WSCard, existing service-oriented applications can seamlessly interoperate with smart card services by treating the card services as native Web services, while employing established Web services standards - SOAP, WSDL and UDDI.

Mobile technology applications have proven more interesting and more capable with each passing year, and continue to be a technology with new surprises. In this paper, we present a software development for weather report which is motivated as a cell phone programme application for web service. Users can get the latest weather information without accessing to the specific weather website. In addition, weather information can be deployed on any cell phone with internet explorer. Web Services, MIDlet programming is the technology applied in this paper. Weather report is designed as a two-tier structure, web application server and client. Web services are generated and published on the web. On client side, user, on the MIDP platform, can interact with web services with the agreement on SOAP protocol. In this paper, how to deploy web services, and the differences and constraints of MIDlet programming are presented.

Smart grid aims to empower the current power grid with the capability of supporting two-way energy and information flow; and facilitating the integration of advanced computer technology and renewable energy sources into the grid. We assume a smart home with a wireless sensor network based on Zigbee. The smart home contains elements like light or temperature sensors at every room, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), smart appliances, thermostat and smart meter. Furthermore, there is a central computer that can communicate with all these elements. Web service is implemented on central computer and it can be accessed over the internet. The paper proposes an approach that makes use of the web services technologies to remotely interact with smart home elements in a smart grid environment. These interactions include adjusting the temperature according to personal preference or reading energy consumption. Furthermore, utility provider can interact with the smart home via web services and can facilitate demand response or selling energy back to the grid. Some scenarios are shown to describe the interactions in more detail. The performance, advantage and limitations of the radio communications between user (e.g., utility provider) and elements via web services are demonstrated in this paper.

The usage of cell (mobile) phones has increased over the years. As newer and more advanced cellular technology is introduced, the question of what will be done with disposed or retired cell phones becomes a pressing one. Currently, this problem has an impact on the environment, as e-waste in landfills is a growing concern. Many have offered solutions to this problem, some that involve recycling the materials the cell phone is made of or extending the length of the contract so that users keep their cell phones longer. However, in this paper, we provide an alternative to these methods by using our model to determine if a retired cell phone can be repurposed by identifying its functional components and its sensor capabilities. Given this information from our model, a repurpose-capable cell phone can then be used to develop useful smart campus applications and can potentially reduce the number of retired cell phones that become e-waste.

This paper presents the basic design of a new web service search technique for mobile mashup. Web service search means searching web APIs to build a new mobile mashup service. The technique is based on user-oriented profiling and can be easily used on mobile devices. For web service search, a user must know the details of a web service in advance. However, conventional service search cannot provide such information on whether the web service can be used for the mashup. This study discusses a user-oriented web service search technique for mobile mashup. Its key feature is that users can easily search for web services that use mashup on mobile phones without knowing the details.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are obtained by integrating computation, networking, and physical processes. In many applications, within a CPS, mobile and wireless networks are used to realize the data transmission, conforming to the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). This facilitates interactions with several types of devices like sensors, RFID readers, mobile phones etc. Besides, Smartphones include important sensors as GPS, accelerometers, light sensors, phone camera etc. Based on such a foundation, different electronic services can be developed and provided for various types of clients. New research directions revealed the necessity to consider middleware architectures in CPS design. In this direction, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) represents a paradigm that can be very efficient in designing specific layers of CPS. Web services are examples of SOA implementation, adequate for the requirements of the business environments. This paper presents a Cyber Physical Systems oriented e-business platform using Web services, which can be accessed through mobile and wireless networks, using Android OS Smartphones. A stock market exchange service was considered, as a relevant example of e-business. The time response of the SOAP and REST based Web service was evaluated, on LTE 4G and IEEE 802.11n channels, to determine which protocol is more efficient to increase the real time response capacity of the CPS oriented platform.

With the increasing presence and adoption of web services on the World Wide Web, the demand of efficient web service quality evaluation approaches is becoming unprecedentedly strong. To avoid the expensive and time-consuming web service invocations, this paper proposes a collaborative quality-of-service (QoS) prediction approach for web services by taking advantages of the past web service usage experiences of service users. We first apply the concept of user-collaboration for the web service QoS information sharing. Then, based on the collected QoS data, a neighborhood-integrated approach is designed for personalized web service QoS value prediction. To validate our approach, large-scale real-world experiments are conducted, which include 1,974,675 web service invocations from 339 service users on 5,825 real-world web services. The comprehensive experimental studies show that our proposed approach achieves higher prediction accuracy than other approaches. The public release of our web service QoS data set provides valuable real-world data for future research.

Security issues have become a major issue on the Internet. One of the security methods that are widely used today is to implement a digital certificate. Digital certificates have evolved over time, one of which is the X.509 digital certificate. Digital certificates have been widely used as authentication applications, web network authentication and other authentication systems that require digital certificates. This research is carried out by implementing an X.509 digital certificate technology as a mobile web service with its client. Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA), Diffie-Hellman, and Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) are used to secure the data exchange transaction between the web service and mobile phone. SHA algorithm will be used for user authentication, Diffie-Hellman algorithm will be used for public key exchange and AES algorithms will be used for symmetric cryptography data. The results of the application of digital certificates, the SHA algorithm, Diffie-Hellman, and AES in mobile phone applications, provide security application running on web service. 10 - Web Services—An Introduction to the Future

In today`s world of science & technology mobile device especially Smartphones plays the role of “"Jinn" who fulfill demand of the user. Smartphone through its Internet facility allows users to access various internet based web services ubiquitously to fulfill his/her demand. Web Services can be of two types SOAP or Restful services. Many researchers have mentioned that SOAP based services are heavy to consume on mobile device despite the fact that most of the companies still uses SOAP services but answer to this challenge is Restful Web Services. Restful services also surfers from many problems like processing of work or accessing services on device due to mobile phone`s small screen size, low processing power, less memory storage capacity etc. That`s why the heavy processing work is shifted on Cloud and only client part will be on mobile device, this integration is called as Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC). In MCC important point need to consider is to improve the performance of web services in terms of speed, memory usage and reducing latency. To resolve these issues, this paper has proposed MCC architecture. We have divided this paper is into two parts, in the first part; we did comparative analysis of Web Service consumption on mobile devices using cloud and various parameters used. In second part we have proposed architecture for mobile Web Services in Cloud which compress response data using Gzip and use of web caching to reduce overhead of repeated or previously accessed Web Service.

Pre-crowdsourcing: Predicting wireless propagation with phone-based channel quality measurements

With the rapid development of Internet, Web Service technology is gradually applied to many areas of life. The security problems occurred in practical applications of Web Service has received more and more attention from the public. Aiming at the security problems existing in the application process of Web Service, a secure real-time internal and external network data exchange method based on Web Service protocol is proposed in this paper, it is agreed that the external network only allows data exchange with the internal network through the Web Service interface, that is, the internal network starts the Web Service service, the external network accesses the service, and then obtains the internal network data or informs the internal network for business processing. Web attack detection is put to the front end to ensure maximum security of Web Service system, which can meet the requirements of more secure and robust web applications while guaranteeing the business security of visitors.
