Abstract

The Office of Birth and Childhood’s (ONE) mission is to support children within their families and in their social environment. The institution regularly brings out useful materials for parents and future parents (leaflets, posters or TV broadcasts). In the context of the European Year for Combating Poverty and with the support of the cooperative Cera, ONE has just published a new tool consisting of pictorial leaflets on “pregnancy and birth” specially designed for people unfamiliar with the written French (primary arrivals, functionally Illiterate, etc.). Thus, this audience is often deprived of materials addressing topics of parenting support. The originality of these cards is that they have been designed taking into account both scientific expertise and experiences of families from the target audiences.
