Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Mobile Application for Academic Library Services

In recent years, the design of user interfaces and user experience has become more relevant in companies due to the need to optimize the interaction between users and complex interactive systems. This study aims to establish design guidelines to improve the user experience in engineering applications in teams of Air handling unit testing engineers. A redesign process of a handling unit testing application was conducted using a user-centered design approach through in-depth interviews, user profiling, interactive prototyping, and usability testing. The results obtained showed a significant improvement in usability and user experience by implementing the fundamentals and principles of user-centered design. This case study highlighted the fundamental role of user interface and user experience design so that user interface designers and engineers can reference the learnings and findings to improve their applications to optimize the tasks of handling unit testing engineers.

Re.wood is a wooden furniture business located in Tinggarjaya Village, Jatilawang District, Banyumas Regency that offers a variety of furniture products, ranging from chairs to wall hangings, to beautify interior and exterior spaces, but still has a limited market share. Re.wood currently uses a conventional sales process that is less effective and lacks information for customers, which causes a lack of sales levels for Re.wood. Designing a system before entering the system development stage is a must because it ensures that the resulting solution is relevant and effective in overcoming the problems users face. The problem can be solved by designing User Interface and User Experience of web-based e-commerce applications. The design method used by researchers is the user-centered design method. User-centered design is a method of focusing on the needs of potential users in the system design stage or process. The results of designing the user interface and user experience only include the user interface developed using Figma. The resulting website produces menus such as Home Page, login, Shop, Cart, Search, and Profile. This evaluation utilized the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) methodology to assess various aspects of the system. The resulting values (1.55 for Efficiency, 1.54 for Attractiveness, 1.49 for Clarity, 1.33 for Accuracy, 1.5 for Stimulation, and 1.15 for Novelty) represent the average UEQ calculation figures for each dimension. In other words, these numbers correspond to the results obtained through the UEQ, which helps evaluate user experience in terms of efficiency, attractiveness, clarity, accuracy, stimulation, and novelty. UEQ uses a Likert scale to measure user experience, and the resulting values show that the system performs well in most aspects. These findings indicate that the prototype meets the needs and provides a satisfying user experience.

The development of information technology today has developed very rapidly where in its development can help people from all walks of life in doing anything, one of which is in the laundry service business sector. My laundry is one of the businesses that offer Laundry services that provide kiloan washingservices. In My laundry In doing data collection or recording my laundry data still does manually. In solving the problems that occur in my laundry system the solution is to apply an information technology system that uses a website. In a design of user interface and user experience can be used as basic things in the creation of a website. In conducting analysis and design of user interface and user experience using the Human Centered Design (HCD) approach and user experience questionnaire (UEQ) method is expected to provide conveniencefor users of the website

— User interface is a term used to describe the appearance of a computer or equipment that the user interacts with. User experience isn't just what consumers see; This can not only provide a design that appeals to the eye, but can also explain why the design is the way it is, a design that can make users feel comfortable when achieving their goals when utilizing the services provided by websites and applications. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the user centered design approach has a positive impact on the analysis and design of user interface and user experience on the Inspire Portal of Sam Ratulangi University.. Researchers have received the final results, namely, the mean value in the attractiveness aspect which was initially -1.61 the value became 0.71, for the second aspect, namely perspicuity (clarity) the initial value -1.72 rose to 0.68, and for the next aspect, namely the third efficiency value before improvement -1.67 to 0.61, and the fourth aspect dependability (accuracy) value before improvement -1.64 and after improvement the value became 0.67, The fifth aspect is stimulation before the improvement of the mean value of -1.64 after improvement to 0.58 and for the last aspect, namely novelty before improvement the value is -1.69 and after improvement the value becomes 0.64. The measurement tool in this study uses a user experience questionnaire, and for the final results of the benchmark comparison there are four aspects that are below average, namely attractiveness, efficiency, stimulation, and novelty. Abstrak — User interface adalah istilah yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan tampilan komputer atau peralatan yang berinteraksi dengan pengguna. Pengalaman pengguna bukan hanya apa yang dilihat konsumen; Ini tidak hanya dapat memberikan desain yang menarik bagi mata, tetapi juga dapat menjelaskan mengapa desainnya seperti itu, desain yang dapat membuat pengguna merasa nyaman ketika mencapai tujuan mereka ketika memanfaatkan layanan yang disediakan oleh situs web dan aplikasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pendekatan user centered design memberikan dampak positif terhadap analisis dan desain user interface dan user experience pada Portal Inspire Universitas Sam Ratulangi. Peneliti telah menerima hasil akhir yaitu, nilai mean pada aspek attractiveness (daya tarik) yang awalnya -1.61 nilainya menjadi 0.71, untuk aspek yang kedua yaitu perspicuity (kejelasan) nilai awalnya -1.72 naik menjadi 0.68, serta untuk aspek berikutnya yaitu yang ketiga efficiency (efisiensi) nilai sebelum perbaikan -1.67 menjadi 0.61, dan aspek yang keempat dependability (ketepatan) nilai sebelum perbaikan -1.64 dan setelah perbaikan nilainya menjadi 0.67, aspek yang kelima yaitu stimulation (stimulasi) sebelum dilakukan perbaikan nilai meannya -1.64 setelah dilakukan perbaikan menjadi 0.58 dan untuk aspek yang terakhir yaitu novelty (kebaruan) sebelum perbaikan nilainya -1.69 dan setelah dilakukan perbaikan nilainya menjadi 0.64. Alat pengukuran dalam penelitian ini menggunakan user experience questionnaire, dan untuk hasil akhir dari comparison benchmarknya ada empat aspek yang dibawah rata-rata yaitu attractiveness, efficiency, stimulation, dan novelty. The world of education is currently developing very rapidly. This rapid development is in line with the development of technology and information. The diversity of information technology requires improvements in the quality and service mechanisms in the field of education to be more effective. The development of information technology requires higher education institutions to continue to innovate in academic service systems. One form of this innovation is the implementation of the Academic Information System (SIAKAD) which is able to integrate various academic services digitally. This study aims to analyze the user experience of two versions of SIAKAD used at the Faculty of Tarbiyah UIN Ar-Raniry, namely the old SIAKAD and the new SIAKAD (Sevima), using the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) approaches. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method with a questionnaire instrument based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which includes perceptions of usefulness, ease of use, and user satisfaction. A total of 32 student respondents were involved in completing the questionnaire. The results showed that the new SIAKAD (Sevima) received a satisfaction level of 76%, included in the "Satisfied" category on the Likert scale. These findings show that a friendlier UI and more optimal UX in the new SIAKAD have a positive impact on user comfort and effectiveness in carrying out academic activities. This research recommends the development of more responsive features that meet user needs, such as adding the option to download active student certificates independently through the system.

Amil Zakat Institution Yayasan Masyarakat Muslim Freeport Indonesian or better known as YMM FI is an institution that distributed to the community. However, even though it has been operating for a long time, YMM FI does not have a website as information media. The basis of good website is the existence of an attractive interface that is easily understood by users, therefore this study has designed a user interface and user experience using the user centered design method through its four stages, namely; the first stage is to understand the context of use, at this stage interviews are conducted with users, then the second stage specify user requirements is a description of the flow of the system that will run using a unified modelling language, then the third stage is the design solution at this stage the researcher has proposed a website interface design, then the last stage is evaluate against requirements. which is the evaluation stage of the proposed interface design. The evaluation stage is carried out to provide experience for users. Based on usability testing with pay attention to effective and efficient aspects. To get the value of the usability testing aspects, researchers used the cognitive walkthrough method and the system usability scale (SUS). In the effective aspect, an average value of 100% is obtained for the admin display and 96% for the muzakki display, then the effective aspect gets an average value of 100% for the admin display and 95% for the muzakki display, then the SUS average value is 76,5 almost close to 77 which gets a good grade.

An alternative solution for Indosport, considering the increasingly advanced smartphone development and also followed by the rapid growth of its users in Indonesia. The purpose of this study project is to produce a product in the form of a user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design in helping to realize targeted mobile applications and not forgetting to apply the principles of visual communication design namely unity and variety, hierarchy, contrast, proportion and balance. The UI and UX design methods go through several stages of work in sequence: pre-production process, production process, and post-production. This design results in UI and UX designs that are equipped with user flow, interface designs, illustrations and prototypes. The main page of the Indosport mobile application is News, Activity, Calendar, and Profile which later on these pages there are several features that are different from the previous page. The making of this UI uses several visual languages such as medium close up, full shot, long shot, close up and medium long shot in the image section contained in the article as well as the depiction of field styles used to almost all visual UI elements. Using several principles in design, namely time to learn, speed of performance, rate of errors by users, retention over time, and subjective satisfaction. The resulting design forms will be distributed directly to the Research and Development division and the IT division from Indosport to be made a native.

PurposeThis study seeks to explore the utilization of mobile phone services in the educational environment, explore the nature of mobile phone use among university students, and investigate the perception of university students on mobile phone uses in library and information services.Design/methodology/approachThe study used a review of literature to investigate about the nature of wireless phone application in education institution and a survey to collect data from 206 undergraduate students from two academic faculties in a Malaysian public university to explore the respondents' perception and the nature of wireless phone use.FindingsThe respondents' perceptions on the application of wireless hand services in the context of library and information services were found to be very positive. A high majority of the respondents indicated their willingness to become the users of such services if offered.Research limitations/implicationsLimitations in this study are related with the ability of the result to be generalized to other user groups. More research needs to be conducted on the interface design and retrieval to fit information in a much smaller application device that is also limited by a smaller bandwidth.Practical implicationsThe findings should assist information providers such as libraries and telecommunication service providers in designing the system that allows for effective access to various information and library services using mobile phones.Originality/valueThis study should be an eye opener for both the researcher and the practitioners that the wireless application services are still lacking, despite the increasing needs from the users.

CV Tirta Kalimaya is a company engaged in Water Treatment which has products in two categories, namely Hexabion and Biotech. The marketing technique uses digital marketing, namely market places and websites. The current condition of the website has very few visitors, one of the factors is because the user interface and user experience are not quite right. It is important to pay attention to the user interface and user experience (UI/UX) so that the product can be used properly by users according to its functionality.
 This study aims to make the CV Tirta Kalimaya company website able to provide what users/website visitors need in terms of functional and visual design by analyzing and designing the user interface and user experience using the Google Design Sprint method, which consists of 5 stages namely, understand, diverge. , decide, prototype and validate. For the validate process using A/B Testing by displaying two variables to see which variable gets good performance.
 Based on the analysis, implementation and evaluation resulted in a final prototype that has been validated, in terms of appearance, duration of use to consideration of criticism and suggestions from users. And produce user interfaces with matching color schemes, consistent layouts and user experiences that match the respondent's mindset to get information or achieve goals

An end-use’s experience of any software is typically influenced by the interface presented by the application to the user. For Mixed Reality Environments such as Augmented and Virtual Reality, the user interface is highly visual, and a poor interface can significantly degrade the user experience. Adequate attention is required when designing or creating interfaces and user experience within Mixed Reality Environments as traditional interface design goals and specifications often need to be adjusted. Furthermore, for mixed reality environments on Mobile devices there are additional interface constraints and considerations that would considerably improve the user experience when properly addressed. This research paper discusses the evolution(s) of user interface(s) and user experience of Augmented and Virtual Reality applications on Mobile devices and contributes a framework for improving user interfaces and experience when using Mixed Reality Environments.

Furthermore, the research investigates responsive UI design, focusing on how Firestore's real-time updates can be leveraged to create highly interactive and immediately responsive interfaces. By utilizing Firestore listeners and reactive UI components, developers can enable real-time updates and ensure that the UI reflects the latest changes in the underlying data. Moreover, the research investigates how Firestore can streamline UX interactions by providing real-time feedback, notifications, and collaboration features. Firestore's real-time capabilities enable developers to deliver instant feedback to users, update them about relevant changes, and facilitate real-time collaboration among multiple users, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.

Social Media platforms are increasing user engagements with their attractive User Interfaces (UI) design playing a crucial role in maintaining user involvement. Use of Emotional Intelligence (EI) into the UI transforming user interaction and engagement pattern significantly. With an emphasis on how design decisions affect user behaviour, this study explores the nuanced function of EIUIs (Emotionally Inteligence User Interfaces) in the context of social media. It specifically draws attention to the dangers of manipulative techniques like "dark patterns"-purposeful interface strategies intended to influence users to take actions they might not have otherwise taken-as well as the possibility of constructive involvement. By investigating these practices, the paper hopes to clarify the wider ethical consequences of interface design as well as the duty of platforms and designers to promote transparency, autonomy, and confidence in digital interactions. This paper aims to contribute to the discourse on user interface design by providing a comprehensive understanding of EIUIs' potential and pitfalls in the context of social media interactions. Additionally, this study focusses on finding information of the pattern of Emotionally Intelligent User Interfaces (EIUI) design to enhance user engagements emotionally and tend to take decisions and the impact of the design pattern in user experience.

The era of digital transformation has made the MSME industry in Indonesia become technology literate, one of which is Husqy Petshop. Husqy Petshop is transforming by creating e-commerce which makes transaction accessibility easier. The development of the Husqy Petshop e-commerce application must pay attention to the right User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) so that it can be used by users comfortably. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) are two important aspects of application design that play a role in the interaction between users and products. Good UI/UX design is obtained by using a method that takes into account the appearance and user experience, one of which is User Centered Design (UCD). The Husqy Petshop application, which applies the User Centered Design (UCD) method, does not only focus on technical aspects, but also considers user needs, preferences and experience. The test results using the Single Ease Question (SEQ) method produced an average score of 6.89 which states that the appearance of the Husqy Petshop Application is easy to use.The aim of this research is to provide recommendations for interface designs that suit the needs and are easy for users to use.

The Food & Beverage (F&B) industry in Indonesia is growing rapidly, yet many mobile applications still fail to deliver an optimal user experience (UX) due to unintuitive user interface (UI) designs, inefficient ordering systems, and lack of integrated payment methods. These issues negatively impact user satisfaction and application usability. This study aims to design the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) of a mobile food & beverage application that meets user needs, accommodates industry expectations, and is evaluated for effectiveness using the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach. The research employed the UCD methodology, involving user interviews, persona development, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. The evaluation was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) with 15 respondents. The results show that the prototype of the “KuliNow” application achieved an average SUS score of 84, categorized as “Excellent.” Key features include integrated mobile banking payments, direct communication with restaurants, social media integration, pre-order functionality, efficient order management, and a reliable review and rating system. This study demonstrates that the UCD approach is effective in developing intuitive, user-focused mobile applications.

Informatics is one of the study programs at the private university of Amikom University Purwokerto which prioritizes learning on the development of Information Technology, but the problems faced vary such as the absence of a campus facility for discussion and community, difficulty in conveying the problems they face, especially related to assignments and materials presented by lecturers. The purpose of this study is to design a visual concept of user interface design and prototype flow design for the Chatting and Forum Discussion Forum application using the Design Thinking method. The method used involves iterative steps to understand user needs, build prototypes, and test the resulting solutions. In addition, the usability testing method is used to test the prototype results of the interface that has been created, with a focus on user experience. The final result of this study is a user interface and prototyping that have passed the testing stage according to usability testing standards, task completion testing using the SEQ (Single Ease Question) method on each task has an average task completion above 6. And the results of the SUS (System Usability Scale) method have a value of 88.3 meeting the SUS acceptable scoring aspect with a grade scale B which shows that the project created is easy to use. Successfully designed a visual design concept through user interface and user experience design of online discussion forum platform media using the Design Thinking method through the stages of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Testing.
