Emotional Contradiction Among Secondary School Teachers

The purpose of this quantitative study was to determine if teachers in secondary level schools from high and upper secondary schools in the district of Lahore were employing stress management approaches.Secondary schools teachers were the research subjects. Three hundred seventy-one teachers in secondary schools were engaged using a simple random sampling method for data collection. An adopted and structured questionnaire comprised of statements about various stress management strategies was used. The responses of teachers were gathered using a five-point Liker t-type scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.The mean and standard deviation were calculated to find results. On the basis of findings most commonly used strategies were: praying, sharing stress with family, friends, and elders, putting everything in Allah's hands,watching television, and resting. The least used strategies were exercising, going to a psychologist and taking medicine, weeping, and shopping. Several recommendations were made in light of the findings.

This study examined forms, risk factors and health hazards of domestic violence among married secondary school teachers in Anambra State. Four research questions and four hypothesis guided the study. The study used a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study comprised 2600 married teachers (male and female) in all secondary schools owned by Anambra State. The sample consisted of 1080 married teachers in secondary schools in Anambra State. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire titled Domestic Violence Questionnaire (DVQ). The DVQ was validated by experts in measurement and evaluation as health education. The reliability coefficient of the instrument was 0.947. Mean and standard deviation statistics were used to answer the research questions. T-test and ANOVA were used to test null hypotheses at .05 level of significance. The findings revealed among others that forms of domestic violence such as physical injuries, depression, abortion and others exist among married secondary school teachers in Anambra State. Risk factors of domestic violence such as low self-esteem, economic stress, unhealthy family relationship, distrust, sexual dissatisfaction and others exist among married teachers in secondary schools in Anambra State. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that, health educators should provide a platform to educate married teachers in various secondary schools on the need to avoid domestic violence so as to have a peaceful environment at home. Married teachers should endeavour to learn and understand each other as this will enable them avoid any form of violence at home. Teacher is considered as a crucial component of any educational program.For implementation of the educational process at any stage teacher plays a very significant role.This present study aimed to assess the current status of secondary level school teachers' attitudes towards teaching and their levels of job satisfaction, with a focus on identifying gender-based differences.Employing descriptive survey method, this study was carried out on a sample of 195 school teachers drawn from various secondary schools across the Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal.Data were being collected using two 5-point Likert-type scales: the Teacher's Attitude Towards Teaching Scale (Vidushy & Kishor, 2021) and the Teacher's Job Satisfaction Scale (Madan & Malik, 2020).Results revealed that secondary level school teachers possess strongly positive attitude towards teaching but job satisfaction of them was not high.Furthermore, it was found that there was no significant difference in attitude towards teaching between male and female school teachers; however, a significant difference was noticed in their job satisfaction.

In order to quantitatively evaluate the competence of primary and secondary school teachers, a competency model of primary and secondary school teachers based on an improved machine learning algorithm is proposed. The fitting parameter analysis model of primary and secondary school teachers’ competency is constructed, and the fitting benefit degree parameter of primary and secondary school teachers’ competency is extracted based on the analysis results of reliability index parameters. The improved machine learning algorithm is used to carry out quantitative analysis and characteristic element analysis in the process of primary and secondary school teachers’ competency evaluation and determine the competency elements of the model. According to the machine learning model, the competency elements are conceptualized and classified, and the theoretical parameter analysis model of online teaching competency of primary and secondary school teachers is constructed to realize the assessment and quantitative analysis of primary and secondary school teachers’ competency. Factor analysis and reliability tests were performed using the KMO test and Bartlett test. The empirical simulation analysis results show that the reliability and accuracy of the evaluation of primary and secondary school teachers’ competence by this method are good, and the level of credibility is high.

This study was undertaken to study the Blended Teaching-Learning awareness among the secondary school teachers, and to compare the awareness among female and male teachers, rural and urban teachers, <10 years and ≥10 years teaching experienced teachers, as well as arts and science teachers. This study was followed descriptive survey research method. All the secondary school (under WBBSE) teachers of Howrah District, West Bengal was included as population of the study. The data was collected by self-made awareness scale form Stratified Randomly selected 242 Sample (14 secondary schools from rural area and 9 secondary schools from urban). Findings of the study were that: secondary school male teachers have significantly greater awareness towards blended teaching-learning than female teachers; urban teachers have significantly better awareness than rural teachers; secondary school teachers with lesser teaching experience has better awareness than the teachers with greater teaching experience; and science teachers has better awareness than arts teachers. In summary, blended teaching-learning transforms the teachers’ role from knowledge provider to coach, guide and mentor. So, it is primarily needed to make all the teachers as highly aware in blended teaching-learning irrespective of their gender, locality, teaching experience, and educational stream differences. This study aimed at investigating challenges and perceptions of virtual learning among ESL teachers in secondary schools during the pandemic, COVID-19. A quantitative research method was used that used a survey for data collection. The instrument involved was a questionnaire created using Google Forms and distributed via social media. The sample was selected randomly and comprised 50 secondary school English language teachers in Malaysia. A descriptive analysis was carried out using SPSS software 2.5 to find the overall level of agreement in terms of frequencies and percentages. The findings showed a positive indication of English language teachers’ challenges and perceptions of online teaching, whereby they managed to overcome the technical issues and improved time management in teaching virtually. However, there were a few problems that needed to be addressed, especially pertaining to equitable network coverage. The authorities need to provide ample support for technological innovations to assist both teachers and learners in achieving meaningful online teaching and learning. This study inspires future research to explore the challenges of online teaching and learning in the Malaysian education system. This could help schools, teachers, and the community work for improvement to optimise the outcomes of online learning in the future.

The potential role of female teachers in achieving the Education for all (EFA) and the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting life-long learning opportunities for all (Goal 4), achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls(Goal 5 ) is well documented. Available evidence, however, suggests that attraction and retention of female teachers in secondary schools located in rural areas remains a significant and on-going challenge. In response, policy makers in Kenya have recommended three key policy interventions namely decentralization of teacher recruitment, payment of hardship allowance and provision of housing. A literature search reveals a dearth of information on the perspectives of rural educators on the effectiveness of these interventions. The paper presents findings based on one objective of a broader study which was to: Establish the views of female teachers’ and other stakeholders’ regarding the effectiveness of strategies for attraction and retention of female teachers in Makueni County. This study adopted a mixed methods design. The paper presents findings from the qualitative component of the study. Interviews were used to gather data. Based on their interpretations, the authors provide useful insights and offer suggestions on how the implementation of these policies could be improved.

This paper attempts to find out the impact of teachers and studentsГўВҖВҷ attitudes on the teaching of Christian religious education in Machakos secondary schools. The purpose of the investigation is to explain the attitudes of teachers and students with a view to drawing conclusions, which would be recommended for improving the status of Christian religious education (CRE) in secondary schools. This paper is based On study undertaken in Machakos secondary schools in Kenya. Sampling procedure in order to allow a regional representation of implementers and consumers of CRE in Machakos secondary schools. The study employed open and closed questionnaire administered to all the participants; an interview done in nine secondary schools among nine teachers and twelve students and an observation of CRE documents affected in eight schools. The attitude scores derived from the closed questionnaire were analyzed using factor analysis, descriptive statistics, chi-square tests and one and two analyses of variance. The open responses were subjected to content analysis and some chi-square tests for the categorized data. The attitude scale as the chief instrument in data collection had a high cronbach alpha of 0.9 a mean of 72 and standard deviation of 15.Based on the analysis, this paper contends that there are no significant differences among respondents of different backgrounds in their attitudes towards CRE. The respondentsГўВҖВҷ conception of the nature of CRE falls in two groups: a positive oriented group which contends that CRE has utilitarian value and the other group that view CRE as non-functional. In conclusion it is argued that any recommendations for improving CRE have to be directed towards clarifying CRE objectives. Thus, the key recommendation points for a need to have CRE as part of an integrated Religious Education (RE) programme whose main aim should be to lead students towards being religiously educated.

PurposeThere is little research into how teachers think about and teach creative writing and its redrafting and how this might differ depending upon the age of the pupils being taught. This paper aims to compare the creative writing conceptualisations and practices of primary school teachers (5–11-year olds) and secondary school teachers (11–18-year-olds) in England through a qualitative survey. This comparison enables to think about the influence of policy on creative writing in primary and secondary schools as well as what professional development could look like for these teachers to improve the teaching of creative writing.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative survey exploring the creative writing and redrafting pedagogies and conceptualisations was responded to by primary school teachers (n = 18) and secondary school teachers (n = 19). Taking an ecological view of creative writing and teacher identity, the authors undertake a comparative analysis of the survey data using the 5A’s theory of creativity (Glaveanu, 2013) and a view of professional identity existing within “landscapes of practice” (Wenger-Trayner, Wenger-Trayner, 2015). This enables to illuminate how and why creative writing is contextually afforded, or otherwise, in primary and secondary landscapes of practice.FindingsThis analysis demonstrates how the redrafting of creative writing is marginalised in both landscapes of practice and how redrafting is largely conceptualised as a technical rather than critical or creative action. The authors show how teachers, particularly in primary school, aim for their pupils to produce “products” rather than engaging in the “process” of creative writing. This analysis also shows that whilst creative writing is overall more marginalised in the secondary school landscape, it is often taught through process approaches. In both landscapes of practice, the re-drafting of creative writing is largely taught through product approaches.Research limitations/implicationsThis research is potentially skewed by the fact that we recruited our participants through networks relating the teaching of English, including creative writing. What is worrying about this limitation, however, is that the picture of creative writing in schools in England probably leans more to a product approach than the picture this research has uncovered.Practical implicationsProfessional development for teachers in both landscapes is needed in relation to pedagogical actions for creative writing and its redrafting. Some of the key differences we have outlined in conceptualisations and practices between primary and secondary schools landscapes, notably the overuse of product-based teaching actions in primary landscapes, and some of the differences we have outlined within discrete landscapes of practice, notably how some primary school teachers feel more confident to challenge the product-based approach, with one conceptualising redrafting as “creative”, indicate that professional development should involve teachers working across schools.Social implicationsPolicy needs to be reformed to move away from the technicist view of creative writing held in both landscapes of practice. Linked to this, the way creative writing is assessed as a product in secondary schools needs to change – the re-introduction of portfolio-based coursework (Bishop, 1990) would provide the affordance of redrafting as an action central to creative writing processes.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is a rare piece of research which compares primary and secondary school teachers’ approaches to teaching creative writing. It shows that primary school teachers can be formulaic in the way they teach creative writing, using product approaches. However, in secondary schools the picture is different: teachers, particularly those, who are writers themselves, give students more agency in redrafting and shaping their writing. This indicates how professional development should involve primary and secondary school teachers in dialogue with one another to cross boundaries of practice.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the practices of formative assessment in the West Arsi zone secondary schools in Ethiopia. A descriptive cross-sectional survey research design was employed. The study participants were secondary school supervisors, principals, teachers, and students. Questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis were used to gather data. The results revealed that secondary school teachers sometimes communicate learning objectives for students, sometimes integrate formative assessment strategies, and sometimes provide formative feedback, with considerable variation of practices. The results have further shown that lack of instructional materials, absence of laboratory equipment and/or technicians, lack of teachers’ competencies, large class size, and shortage of instructional time were the major challenges to formative assessment implementation.

The aim of this studyis to determine secondary school teachers’ views about the refugee students. Inthis direction, the secondary school teachers’ views about refugee students’attention, and attitude toward theirsubject, refugee students’ readiness, attention,and attitude toward their lesson content, and the suitability of methods,techniques which they use in their class to the readiness of refugee studentswere determined. Moreover, their views about the suitability of theirequipments and materials to readiness of refugee students; the suitability ofassesment and evaluation instruments for refugee students; and their views,ideas to develop and enrich their lessons were determined. In this study,qualitative research design was used. The study group consisted of thesecondary school teachers worked at a state school in Elazığ city center in2017-2018 academic year, second term. Maximum variation sampling method wasused in the study. In determination of school, whether there are refugeestudents or not at that school was considered. From each branch two teacherswere selected and totally 22 secondary school teachers were included in thestudy. In determination of these teachers, the views of headmaster and deputieshead of the secondary school were considered. Volunteer branch teachersparticipated to the study. A semi-structured interview form, which was designedby the researcher was used for data collection. Six semi- structured questionswere asked to identify teachers’ views about refugee students. These questionswere reviewed by a professor and two assistant professors. The clarity ofquestions were negotiated with three secondary school teachers. Study resultsrevealed that secondary school teachers have some problems in instruction ofrefugee students because of several reasons. Several recommendations areoffered based on the research findings.

Investigated in this study is the attitude of secondary school teachers towards the teaching profession. Survey design was adopted for the study and three research questions guided the study. The sample of the study comprises of all the 55 secondary school teachers of Senior Secondary 2 (SS2) in urban and rural schools, in Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State. The instrument for data collection was a 20 item questionnaire developed by the researchers. The data collected was analyzed by computing mean and standard deviation. The findings of the study revealed that the majority of the secondary school teachers possessed positive attitude towards the teaching profession. It was also found that the female secondary school teachers had more positive attitude towards the profession than the male secondary school teachers. Furthermore, the secondary school teachers in urban areas had higher positive attitude than the secondary school teachers in rural areas. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that both the government and teacher organization should see to the training, retraining and motivation of secondary school teachers. If they are well-trained and motivated, they will be more committed and learning will be enhanced.

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has made education enter a new era, and it also puts forward new requirements and challenges to the professional development of Information Technology(IT) teachers in primary and secondary schools. The study analyzes the connotation and status of the application of Artificial Intelligence technology in the field of education and Artificial Intelligence Education in primary and secondary schools, the impact of artificial intelligence education applications on the professional development of Information Technology teachers in primary and secondary schools, the connection between Artificial Intelligence Education and the development of Information Technology teachers in primary and secondary schools. Then, based on the above analysis, strategies for the professional development of Information Technology teachers in primary and secondary schools are proposed, which mainly include internal strategies for teachers themselves and external strategies for national policies, local policies, local education bureaus, schools, and corporate institutions. Hope that these strategies can promote the professional development of Information Technology teachers in primary and secondary schools.

The present research aimed to study quality control techniques used by secondary school teachers in district Lahore to improve educational outcomes. The link between quality control measures, secondary school teachers' performance, and target accomplishment was examined in particular. The study's sample was selected by convenient sampling technique and included 418 secondary school instructors from 200 secondary schools. Questionnaire QCMSSGA was adapted to collect data on quality control measures and secondary school goal achievement (QCMSSGA). It was found that the instrument has a coefficient of reliability ranging from 0.75 to 0.81. Analysis including frequency distribution and Pearson product-moment correlation. Secondary school pupils who received high-quality supervision and teacher evaluations were more likely to meet their objectives. Due to the reasons mentioned earlier, secondary school instructors were instructed to conduct more frequent, routine instructional monitoring and pay greater attention to teacher performance evaluations.
