The purpose of the Hanford Site Performance Report is to provide the Department of Energy Richland Operations Office's (DOE-RL's) report of Hanford's performance by: U.S. Department of Energy, Richland Operations Office, Project Hanford Management Contract (PHMC) through Fluor Daniel Hanford, Inc. (FDH) and its subcontractors, Environmental Restoration Contract through Bechtel Hanford, Inc. (BHI), and its subcontractors, and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories (PNNL) for Science and Technology (S&T) Mission and support to the Environmental Management (EM). This report is published monthly with the intent of relating work performance and progress in the context of the Success Indicators and Critical Success Factors as outlined in the Hanford Strategic Plan. On a quarterly basis, the report also addresses performance and progress related to the Science and Technology Mission's Critical Outcomes as derived from the Hanford Strategic Plan. Section A of this report is the Executive Summary, encapsulating high-level data in this report into an overall brief. Summary information provided includes Notable Accomplishments, a performance profile with associated analyses, Critical Issues, Key Integration Activities, and a ''quick list'' of Upcoming Key Events. Section B of this report, the Site Summary section, provides Environmental Management performance data specifically organized to the pertinent Critical Success Factors and Success Indicators, and Science and Technology data in the context of the Critical Outcomes. The Site Summary demonstrates the various missions' overall progress against these strategic objectives. The information is presented in both narrative and graphical formats. The remaining sections provide performance data relative to each individual mission area (e.g., Waste Management, Spent Nuclear Fuels, etc.). The information provided in the Mission Area sections is at a level of greater detail than is presented in either the Executive Summary or the Site Summary sections. At the end of this report, a glossary of terms is provided for reference purposes.

This study aims to evalue the successful handling of covid-19 in surakarta city government. There were 136 respondents involved in this study obtained from questionnaires with a likert scale of 1-5. The study used gedeeltelike minste vierkante (PLS) to test structural hypotheses. This research has been through tests of validity and reliability then declared geldige and reliable. Of the 8 hypotheses compiled in this study there were 6 hypotheses accepted and 2 rejected. The measurement results show that the quality of service affects accountability; quality of service affects the performance of environmental management; internal business processes affect the performance of environmental management; policies and implementations affect accountability; policies and implementations affect the performance of environmental management; and the performance of environmental management has an effect on the performance of the surakarta city government in tackling the covid-19 pandemic crisis. While internal business processes have no effect on accountability; accountability has no effect on government performance. This is because accountability is a mandatory or mandatory activity so that good poor government performance can not be affected by accountability. Novelty produced in this study is the process of evaluating the success of government performance in times of crisis by involving elements of internal business processes and environmental management. The recommendation given by researchers is the need to improve the performance of environmental management in the implementation up to the process and process of monitoring and evaluation. In addition, accountability needs to be optimized, consistently to the realm of outcome and impact.

This research aims to analyze the influence of environmental management and firm performance on firm value, which is moderated by good corporate governance, which is proxied by board size and independent commissioners. The research design is quantitative research with the title "The Influence of Environmental Management and Firm Performance on Firm Value Moderated by Good Corporate Governance". The data source is secondary data collected from the IDX (Indonesian Stock Exchange) website to access financial report data of mining sector manufacturing companies, for the period 2017 - 2022. The population of this research is mining sector companies listed on the IDX for the 2017-2022 period. The sampling technique used in this research was purposive sampling. The results show that there is no direct influence from ISO certification on ROA (Return on Assets). There is a significant positive effect of firm value from the environmental management and firm performance variable, moderated by board size. However, the presence of independent commissioners does not moderate the effect of ISO and ROA on firm value. This means that the existence of directors can moderate the implementation of ISO 14001 on company value.

Increasing demand for green initiatives and issues of sustainability has recently necessitated a paradigm shift in the way firms, particularly those in the manufacturing sector, conduct their operations. Therefore, Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) was developed to integrate environmental management approaches within manufacturing organizations. GSCM's internal environmental management and social capital through collaboration of supply chain partners can be viewed as fundamentally comparable in that social capital is accumulated through the process of firms constructing social interactions in current networks. However, the number of GSCM studies that incorporate a social capital approach, especially empirical studies, remains limited in term of quantity. To determine the relationship between internal environmental management, structural social capital, and sustainable performance, this study was performed. This study aims to evaluate the mediating effect of structural social capital on the relationship between internal environmental management and sustainable performance. Malaysian manufacturing companies that are ISO14001 accredited were surveyed. Respondents submitted a total of 106 questionnaires that were deemed suitable for data analysis using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). Internal environmental management was found to have a significant correlation with structural social capital. Additional research utilizing PLS bootstrapping has revealed that structural social capital significantly mediates the relation between internal environmental management and sustainable performance. In addition to contributing to theoretical knowledge, the results would be useful for delivering new insights to management regarding their environmental goals and maintaining successful performance under the pressure of stakeholders, customers, and environmental standards.

Environmental management program performance ratings for companies (PROPER) is a public disclosure program for environmental compliance by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). PROPER is a type of government policy to enhance the business’ environmental management performance by the law’s requirements. Furthermore, PROPER is an example of how environmental management has become more open and democratic in Indonesia. The application of this instrument is an effort by the KLHK to implement some of the virtues of good governance — transparency, equity, responsibility, and community participation — in environmental management. In 2021, the PROPER Program expanded its activities’ scope by including elements of LCA implementation in the program report. This paper aims to provide recommendations for the PROPER program implementation concerning applying the ISO 14025 standard. The method used in this study are literature studies of related regulations and mapping the existing conditions against the conformity of the ISO 14025 standard. The study shows that the current PROPER program has met several requirements of the ISO 14025, comprising life cycle assessments and environmental product declarations. However, the existing program should have determined that PCR is one of the elements required to assess environmental management performance ratings.

Environmental management has the potential to play a pivotal role in the financial performance of the firm. Many individuals suggest that profitability is hurt by the higher production costs of environmental management initiatives, while others cite anecdotal evidence of increased profitability. A theoretical model is proposed that links strong environmental management to improved perceived future financial performance, as measured by stock market performance. The linkage to firm performance is tested empirically using financial event methodology and archival data of firm-level environmental and financial performance. Significant positive returns were measured for strong environmental management as indicated by environmental performance awards, and significant negative returns were measured for weak environmental management as indicated by environmental crises. The implicit financial market valuation of these events also was estimated. Cross-sectional analysis of the environmental award events revealed differences for first-time awards and between industries. First-time award announcements were associated with greater increases in market valuation, although smaller increases were observed for firms in environmentally dirty industries, possibly indicative of market skepticism. This linkage between environmental management and financial performance can be used by both researchers and practitioners as one measure of the benefits experienced by industry leaders, and as one criterion against which to measure investment alternatives.

While many third‐party organizations are practically evaluating corporate environmental performance (CEP), few academic studies have paid attention to third‐party environmental performance evaluation (EPE). To answer the question of what should be measured for third‐party EPE, we develop an environmental performance measurement (EPM) model consisting of environmental management performance (EMP) and environmental operational performance (EOP), and hypothesize that EMP be measured by four management performance indicators (MPIs: organizational system, stakeholder relations, operational countermeasures and environmental tracking) and EOP be measured by two operational performance indicators (OPIs: inputs and outputs). Further, to answer the question of how to enable third‐party EPE comparable across companies from different (sub‐)sectors, we propose to use the environmental intensity change index (EICI) as a measure of OPIs. Empirical tests confirm that the EICI and the evaluation based on it are comparable across companies from different sub‐sectors. This report was prepared in accordance with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Order 231.1A, 'Environment, Safety and Health Reporting,' to present summary environmental data for the purpose of: (a) characterizing site's environmental management performance; (b) summarizing environmental occurrences and responses reported during the calendar year; (c) describing compliance status with respect to environmental standards and requirements; and (d) highlighting significant site programs and efforts. This report is the principal document that demonstrates compliance with the requirements of DOE Order 5400.5, 'Radiation Protection of the Public and the Environment,' and is a key component of DOE's effort to keep the public informed of environmental conditions at Savannah River Site (SRS). SRS has four primary missions: (1) Environmental Management - Cleaning up the legacy of the Cold War efforts and preparing decommissioned facilities and areas for long-term stewardship; (2) Nuclear Weapons Stockpile Support - Meeting the needs of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile through the tritium programs of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA); (3) Nuclear Nonproliferation Support - Meeting the needs of the NNSA's nuclear nonproliferation programs by safely storing and dispositioning excess special nuclear materials; and (4) Research and Development - Supporting the application of science by the Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) to meet the needs of SRS, the DOE complex, and other federal agencies During 2010, SRS worked to fulfill these missions and position the site for future operations. SRS continued to work with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to find and implement solutions and schedules for waste management and disposition. As part of its mission to clean up the Cold War legacy, SRS will continue to address the highest-risk waste management issues by safely storing and preparing liquid waste and nuclear materials for disposition, and by safely stabilizing any tank waste residues that remain on site.

Evaluating the performance of the urban environmental management in Indonesia is not easy task due to the fact that there is no standard measure that can be utilities for evaluation. The parameters that are employed in urban environmental management are not often complete and sometimes apply to a certain sector only. Clean urban program (Adipura) and clean river program (Prokasih) are the example of this sectoral approach which is not justifiable and impressive result. However, attempts should be made to find a workable way to support decision making processes. This research uses a deterministic dynamics approach to model the dynamic performance of urban environmental management for the town of Majalaya. Results indicates that the urban environmental management program for the town of Majalaya has achieved high degree of performance. However, most other town in Bandung regency are generally need further improvement. Three methods that have been used to study their dynamic behavior may be used to measure the improvement of the urban environment management program. The purposes of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Environmental Report 2008 are to record Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's (LLNL's) compliance with environmental standards and requirements, describe LLNL's environmental protection and remediation programs, and present the results of environmental monitoring at the two LLNL sites - the Livermore site and Site 300. The report is prepared for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by LLNL's Environmental Protection Department. Submittal of the report satisfies requirements under DOE Order 231.1A, Environmental Safety and Health Reporting, and DOE Order 5400.5, Radiation Protection of the Public and Environment. The report is distributed electronically and is available at https://saer.lln.gov/, the website for the LLNL annual environmental report. Previous LLNL annual environmental reports beginning in 1994 are also on the website. Some references in the electronic report text are underlined, which indicates that they are clickable links. Clicking on one of these links will open the related document, data workbook, or website that it refers to. The report begins with an executive summary, which provides the purpose of the report and an overview of LLNL's compliance and monitoring results. The first three chapters provide background information: Chapter 1 is an overview of the location, meteorology, and hydrogeology of the two LLNL sites; Chapter 2 is a summary of LLNL's compliance with environmental regulations; and Chapter 3 is a description of LLNL's environmental programs with an emphasis on the Environmental Management System including pollution prevention. The majority of the report covers LLNL's environmental monitoring programs and monitoring data for 2008: effluent and ambient air (Chapter 4); waters, including wastewater, storm water runoff, surface water, rain, and groundwater (Chapter 5); and terrestrial, including soil, sediment, vegetation, foodstuff, ambient radiation, and special status wildlife and plants (Chapter 6). Complete monitoring data, which are summarized in the body of the report, are provided in Appendix A. The remaining three chapters discuss the radiological impact on the public from LLNL operations (Chapter 7), LLNL's groundwater remediation program (Chapter 8), and quality assurance for the environmental monitoring programs (Chapter 9). The report uses Systeme International units, consistent with the federal Metric Conversion Act of 1975 and Executive Order 12770, Metric Usage in Federal Government Programs (1991). For ease of comparison to environmental reports issued prior to 1991, dose values and many radiological measurements are given in both metric and U.S. customary units. A conversion table is provided in the glossary. The report is the responsibility of LLNL's Environmental Protection Department. Monitoring data were obtained through the combined efforts of the Environmental Protection Department; Environmental Restoration Department; Physical and Life Sciences Environmental Monitoring Radiation Laboratory; and the Hazards Control Department.

In the past, corporate sustainability scholars advocated that, for many firms, environmental management could turn into a valuable capability conferring a competitive advantage. However, little attention has been paid to the role of the industry context and its influence on the relationship between environmental management and organizational performance. In this study, we examine the effect on this relationship of three contextual variables: munificence, dynamism and complexity. Drawing on longitudinal data from 336 firms representing 30 industries, we find that munificence enhances the degree to which a firm can leverage its environmental management capabilities to improve environmental performance. Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the vital link between manufacturing firms and the environment, delving into the intricate connections among factors affecting these firms. Specifically, it investigates how the environmental performance of manufacturing firms is shaped by their adoption of environmental management practices and the regulatory environment in which they operate. Design/methodology/approach Data are currently being collected through a structured questionnaire from employees working in manufacturing firms in Pakistan. Random sampling was used to select the participants. The hypotheses were tested using PLS-SEM analysis. Findings The study reveals a positive correlation between green manufacturing practices and superior environmental performance. Effective environmental management systems further help firms reduce their environmental footprint. External environmental regulations play a significant role as moderators, influencing the strength and direction of the relationship between green manufacturing, environmental management and environmental performance. Practical implications The practical implications offer valuable insights and guidance for manufacturing companies seeking to improve their environmental responsibility and performance. Additionally, policymakers gain insights into how regulatory frameworks can be designed or modified to better support sustainability efforts within the manufacturing sector. Originality/value This study offers timely insights for sustainable business practices, aligning with corporate responsibility efforts. It contributes to both academic knowledge and provides actionable guidance for fostering environmentally responsible practices in the manufacturing sector.

As the ‘green version’ of the Human Resources Management concept is under-explored, this investigation sought to examine the effect of intervening variables on the relationship between Green Human Resources Management (GHRM) and green performance in the SME sector. Drawing upon the Ability Motivation theory, this study examined green innovation as a mediator and green knowledge sharing as a moderator of the GHRM–green performance relationship. This study employed the partial least square structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to analyse 364 responses from senior managers in the SME sector in Zimbabwe. The empirical results confirmed that while GHRM profoundly impacted green performance, green innovation partially mediated the relationship between the two variables. Study results also established that green knowledge sharing positively moderated the relationship between GHRM and green innovation. This research signifies the effect of GHRM, green knowledge sharing, and green innovation on the SME’s sustainability and environmental management performance. These results are essential for managerial decision-making.

Background and Aims: In a global low-carbon and low-pollution economy, environmental compliance is a key concern and development goal for enterprises all over the world. This research aims to explore how Chinese enterprises can participate in and integrate into environmental compliance on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) rules, and investigate the specific mechanisms through which environmental compliance management influences enterprise performance within the RCEP framework. We provide a comprehensive analysis of Chinese enterprises’ environmental compliance, risk management, technological innovation, green culture, and enterprise performance under the framework of RCEP. Methodology: We conduct this study on 50 major enterprises in China that are prone to causing pollution. We employ stratified random sampling to select 450 managers and staff from 50 enterprises. Then, the study employs the quantitative analysis using structural equation modelling (SEM) to analyze the effect of environmental compliance management in RCEP through risk management, technological innovation, and green culture that impact enterprise performance across the enterprises in China. Results: Research results indicate that environmental compliance significantly enhances enterprise performance when integrated with risk management, technological innovation, and green culture. Environmental compliance model shows the relationship among the variables: Environmental compliance-> enterprise performance (β is 0.298 and p < 0.000); Environmental compliance-> risk management (β is 0.327 and p < 0.000); Environmental compliance-> technological innovation (β is 0.467 and p < 0.000); Environmental compliance-> green culture (β is 0.389 and p < 0.000). The findings highlight the pivotal role of environmental compliance as a strategic tool for competitiveness in international markets, offering crucial insights for both the Chinese government and enterprises. Conclusion: The contribution of this paper is that the synergy between environmental compliance, risk management, technological innovation, and green culture creates the pathway to superior corporate performance and offers a competitive advantage for Chinese enterprises to improve the relationship between compliance with RCEP regulations and their business performance. Meanwhile, it also offers actionable insights for policymakers and business leaders.
