Green industrial scale casting production using engineered molding materials: Sustainable strategies to reduce process gas emissions

As China’s strategic support belt, the green development of industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone is of great significance to promote the construction of China’s ecological civilization, build a modern industrial system and accelerate high-quality economic development. The study of green total factor productivity of industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone has important theoretical and practical value for exploring the green development path of China’s industry. This Paper takes the Yangtze River Economic Zone, a key strategic region in China, as the research object, selects the input and output data of industrial production from 2006 to 2018, based on DEA model. To construct an MML index considering expected and unexpected output, and to quantitatively analyze the changes of industrial GTFP in the Yangtze River Economic Zone. The results show that: (1) During the sample period, the industrial green total factor productivity in the Yangtze River Economic Zone shows the spatial characteristics of differential growth and the temporal characteristics of volatile growth. It shows the fluctuation characteristics of “N” shape. (2) According to the order of "upper, middle, and lower" reaches, the spatial pattern of industrial green total factor productivity is characterized by "lower ladder". But the difference between the upper and middle reaches is small. (3) Cities with higher green total factor productivity and lower green total factor productivity each form the characteristics of "club convergence" of spatial agglomeration. (4) Technological efficiency and technological progress efficiency have heterogeneous effects on different river basins in the upper, middle, and lower reaches, and technological progress efficiency is conducive to promoting the evolution of green total factor productivity to a high level. According to the above empirical results, this paper finally puts forward the policy recommendations to improve the industrial green total factor productivity of the Yangtze River Economic Zone and the policy recommendations to reduce the industrial differences between the Yangtze River Economic Zone.

Nowadays, the environmental protection is one of the most important duties of every person and organization. One of the industries that pollute the environment is the paper-making industry, which has high importance. The primary objective of this study is to provide a model to evaluate the Green Productivity in the paper-making industry. In this study, Craig–Harris model is used to create a pattern of Green Productivity, after determining the effective indices on Green Productivity, and then the value of Green Productivity index before and after the implementation of ISO 9001 is measured in one of the largest paper-making industries as a case study. Results show that Green Productivity index depends on factors such as manpower, materials, energy and machinery and environmental factors. Results also demonstrate that in a stationary condition, a quality system such as ISO 9001 can be useful in increasing the Green Productivity. According to the results, it is recommended to concern organizational productivity, machinery, manpower, in addition to environmental effects (air, waste, and sewage) to increase Green Productivity in paper-making industry.

Governments, environmental groups and industry associations are reducing greenhouse gas emissions to insure environmental sustainability. Manufacturing plays an important role in economic development but is a main cause of global warming since production requires energy consumption. The supply chain leadership coalition has requested all members to publish their carbon emission data and to reduce emissions. In addition, the International Standard Organization (ISO) has legislated and published ISO14064 as an industrial guideline to control global greenhouse gas emissions. The British Standards Institution developed PAS2050 as the world's first government regulation to control a product's carbon footprint. Providing carbon labelling on products increases product appeals and sales revenues, but also increases manufacturing costs. This research aims to minimise a product's carbon footprint, while controlling its manufacturing cost during collaborative green product design and production planning. An economic input–output life cycle assessment approach is used to evaluate the carbon emissions of new products. The life cycle assessment identifies problematic carbon emissions within the supply chain. Based on the input and output data, the research applies system dynamics modelling to simulate and identify green product redesigns with cost-effective carbon footprints during manufacturing. The purpose of this research is to derive optimal means to reduce the carbon footprint for green product development and production. Finally, the paper uses the case of an electronic image projector to demonstrate the application of the methodology.

This study aims at examining the green productivity of large GHG emitter industries in Korea. Six industries, namely power, steel, petrochemical, paper, cement, and electronics, were selected as the sample. As each of these industries exhibits different characteristics, a methodology that considers heterogeneity – the metafrontier Malmquist–Luenberger index (MML) – was used. The MML index was decomposed into three indexes: the efficiency change (EC) index, best-practice gap change (BPC) index, and technical gap ratio change (TGC) index. The empirical results are as follows. First, there was an average increase of 5.8% in the MML index, which indicates that the overall green productivity had increased over the last 5 years. It is noteworthy that there was a drastic increase in 2015, indicating the positive influence of the emission trading scheme (ETS) on green productivity. Moreover, the cement industry showed the best performance in green productivity. Second, in terms of the three indexes, EC and TGC showed values higher than unity, which implies that these are the major factors driving the positive MML value. Last, some innovator firms fulfilling the three conditions concerning the BPC index have been identified, and can be considered role models for other firms.

Digital economy and its spatial effect on green productivity gains in manufacturing: Evidence from China

Does civil environmental protection force the growth of China's industrial green productivity? Evidence from the perspective of rent-seeking

A non-oriented Fe-0.7% Si steel as-cast strip was produced by an industrial twin-roll strip casting production line. The evolution of the microstructure, texture, and properties was characterized along the entire processing route. The microstructure of each cross-section of the industrial cast strip was found to be uniform, with low texture strength and random orientation distribution. After cold rolling, a mixed microstructure formed, consisting of deformation structures and shear bands alternating in the thickness direction. The texture exhibited a mixed texture combining α-fiber texture (<110>//RD) and γ-fiber texture (<111>//ND). During the 850°C annealing process, recrystallized grains nucleated preferentially in shear bands, and α texture and Goss texture began to form. The final annealed sheet texture was composed of Goss texture and γ-fiber texture, with favorable textures constituting the major part. The final sheets exhibited excellent magnetic properties: P1.5/50 = 4.915 W/kg, B50 = 1.856T in RD direction, and P1.5/50 = 5.347 W/kg, B50 = 1.765 T in TD direction. Its average yield strength was approximately 278.77 MPa, and the average tensile strength was approximately 505.47 MPa. After aging at 300°C for 10 hours, only a few precipitates formed in the final sheets, and their magnetic properties remained highly stable with little to no change.

Digital transformation and green total factor productivity in the semiconductor industry: The role of supply chain integration and economic policy uncertainty

This study examines the relationship between environmental regulation, decentralization, and industrial green total factor productivity (IGTFP) in China, based on data from 30 provinces (2008–2022). Findings demonstrate a “U-shaped” effect of environmental regulation on IGTFP. Decentralization reduces this positive effect. Regional heterogeneity is evident: the impact is strongest in central and western regions, but less pronounced in the east due to technological saturation and in the northeast due to weak regulatory enforcement. The study suggests establishing a differentiated environmental regulation framework, optimizing environmental decentralization mechanisms, and enhancing digital environmental governance platforms

Based on the input-output panel data of industrial sectors of Shanxi Province, which is the only province-wide resource-based region in China, this paper uses the non-parametric DEA model and the Malmquist productivity index to construct the DEA-Malmquist model for evaluation analysis of the green total factor productivity (GTFP) and its decomposition value of the sub-sector, and then through fixed effect panel regression model studies the ways of energy transition of the SDG’s. The results show that the technological progress index has the greatest contribution to the growth of GTFP, while the scale efficiency index has the lowest contribution. And the amount of investment in environmental pollution control has a significant positive relationship with the GTFP of the three major polluting industries in Shanxi. Among them, investment in environmental pollution control has the greatest positive effect on the GTFP of light polluting industries characterized by high technology, high added value and low emissions; investment in environmental pollution control has the largest positive effect on the GTFP of heavy polluting industries with heavy chemical industry and pollution-intensive industries; investment in environmental pollution control has the weakest positive effect on the GTFP of the medium polluting industries that manufacture life service products and some heavy industrial products. Based on these results, the paper puts forward effective policy for the energy transition of resource-based regions.

The important of eliminating energy market distortions: The perspective of industrial green productivity

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of environmental knowledge, green word-of-mouth communication, and green advertising on purchase intention, with attitude towards green products as a mediating variable in Lush cosmetic products as environmentally friendly cosmetic products. This study used a quantitative descriptive design with 216 respondents in DKI Jakarta. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling technique (PLS-SEM) analyzed the questionnaire, which served as the research instrument. The results showed that the independent variables had a positive and significant influence on attitudes towards green products and purchase intentions, either directly or through the mediation of attitudes towards green products. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing sustainable marketing strategies, such as improving consumer education, optimizing eco-friendly advertising, and strengthening positive recommendations through word-of-mouth communication of green product purchases. Lush Cosmetics can adopt this approach to increase awareness and encourage purchase intent among consumers of sustainable products. For future research, it is recommended to cover limited areas, increase sample size, and consider additional variables such as price perception and brand loyalty to gain more comprehensive insights into the factors influencing green product purchase intentions.

Sustainability performance of global chemical industry based on green total factor productivity

In order to explore the statistical measurement and influencing factors of green total factor productivity in tourism, this paper proposes the use of gray absolute correlation to measure the similarity between input variable sequences. Moreover, this paper obtains the key parameters of the combination of radial and nonradial in the model based on the proximity index of gray correlation and calculates the economic efficiency of the decision-making unit according to the steps. In addition, this paper combines the DEA-EBM model to carry out the statistical measurement of China’s tourism industry green total factor productivity and the analysis of influencing factors and verify it through data. Through research, it can be seen that the DEA-EBM model proposed in this paper can play an important role in the statistical measurement and analysis of influencing factors of green total factor production in the tourism industry.

The development of technologies for the manufacture and design of steel structures, together with the development of computer technologies, makes it possible to increase productivity in the building industry. The analysis and generalization of such factors made it possible to identify the main trends and directions of the creation and improvement of metal structures, taking into account the automation of their manufacturing processes and the use of BIM technologies. The highlighted tendencies make it possible to show both new directions for the development of scientific research and directions for the development of practical methodologies for determining the regularities of the stress-strain state of structural systems using steel. Among the main trends, the following are highlighted: digitalization of the metal construction industry; automation and robotization of the manufacturing and assembling processes; science intensity of design and production processes; greening production, evaluating design solutions from the standpoint of environmental safety; complex optimization of design solutions. The authors highlight the next important tasks and prospects for the development of the creation of effective metal structures: the creation and use of high-strength steels C960 and more, the improvement of automated and robotic welding processes for ultra-high-strength steels with various metal thicknesses; development and improvement of the theory of calculation of thin-walled and composite structures, determination of the actual resource of metal structures after long-term operation; introduction into the practice of creating new structures of rational and optimal design approaches with the requirements of long-term operation and life cycle, including progressive collapse, reduction in the cost of fire and anti-corrosion covers for steel structures; improvement of building codes and rules for the design of metal structures; implementation of leading foreign standards and experience; training of modern professional engineers and technicians; development of experimental and theoretical studies of full-scale samples of structures on the basis of creating high-precision information models of structural systems.
