Image Enhancement through intensity of edge pixels using Honey Bee Mating Optimization

Digital image processing is versatile research in this era. Many researchers implement different types of organizations like image restoration, image enhancement, color image processing, image segmentation etc. Image enhancement technique is among the simplest and most appealing area of digital image processing. Enhancement techniques like brightness preservation, contrast enhancement highlight certain features means depend which part of the image want to be enhance some application some input image including noise, reduction or removal of noise is also form of image enhancement. Brightness preservation has enhanced visual quality of digital image so that the limitation contained in these images is used for various applications in a better way. A very popular technique for image enhancement is histogram equalization (HE) and curvelet transformation. HE technique is commonly employed for image enhancement because of its simplicity and comparatively better performance on almost all types of images. Another widely used technique is curvelet transformation. This technique is identified and separate bright regions of image but more error rate and low peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR), result of this technique is brightness preservation level is low and output image is gray. This paper design a hybrid model through discrete cosine transformation, discrete wavelet transformation and combine output of both techniques with image fusion. Proposed algorithm enhanced features and removal noise by decomposition of image using DWT and discrete cosine transformation, adaptive histogram equalization is very important part in this algorithm for smooth image. The tested results of different images are comparing with previous method, generating result with different parameters; less mean square error and high PSNR for improve the quality of an image. This paper presents a hybrid model used various parameter for enhance images like satellite images, medical images etc.

Today using evolutionary programing for solving complex, nonlinear mathematical problems like optimum power flow is commonly in use. These types of problems are naturally nonlinear and the conventional mathematical methods aren’t powerful enough for achieving the desirable results. In this study an Optimum Power Flow problem solved by means of minimization of fuel costs for IEEE 30 buses test system by Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Honey Bee Mating Optimization (HBMO) and Shuffle Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA), these algorithms has been used in MATLAB medium with help of MATHPOWER to achieving more precise results and comparing these results with the other proposed results in other published papers.

Image enhancement, aimed at improving the image contrast and information quality, is one of the most critical steps in image processing. Due to insufficient enhancement and the mean shift problem of conventional image enhancement techniques, new artificial intelligence-based image enhancement approaches have become an inevitable need in image processing. This paper employs the krill herd algorithm (KHA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to suggest a novel hybrid approach, called (PSOKHA) for image enhancement. The suggested PSOKHA method is used in search of optimum transfer function parameters to increase the quality of the images. For comparative evaluation, the performance of the PSOKHA is compared with six latest successful enhancement methods: PSO, KHA, screened Poisson equation (SPE), histogram equalization (HE), brightness preserving dynamic fuzzy HE (BPDFHE), and adaptive gamma correction weighted distribution (AGCWD). Experiments results in testing images include a medical image, a satellite image, and a handwritten image, demonstrate that the suggested strategy can produce better enhanced images in terms of several measurement criteria such as contrast, PSNR, entropy, and structure similarity index (SSIM).

Image thresholding is an important technique for image processing and pattern recognition. In this paper, a new multilevel image thresholding algorithm based on the technology of the honey bee mating optimization (HBMO) is proposed. Three different methods such as the particle swarm optimization (PSO), the hybrid cooperative-comprehensive learning based PSO algorithm (HCOCLPSO) and the fast Otsupsilas method are also implemented for comparison with the results of the proposed method. The experimental results reveal two important interested results for other three image thresholding methods. One is that the results of PSO and Fast Ostupsilas method are unstable that extraordinary segmentations are generated. Another is that the results of HCOCLPSO are superior to original PSO method, but it still slower than ones of HBMO and it had similar segmentation results with the ones of the honey bee mating optimization.

Trading strategies for image segmentation using multilevel thresholding aided with minimum cross entropy

For constructing the best local codebook for image compression, there are many Vector Quantization (VQ) procedures, but the simplest VQ procedure is the Linde–Buzo–Gray (LBG) procedure. Techniques such as the Gaussian Dissemination Function (GDF) are used for the searching process in generating a global codebook for particle swarm optimization (PSO), Honeybee mating optimization (HBMO), and Firefly (FA) procedures. However, when particle velocity is very high, FA encounters a problem when brighter fireflies are trivial, and PSO suffers uncertainty in merging. A novel procedure, Cuckoo Search–Kekre Fast Codebook Generation (CS-KFCG), is proposed that enhances Cuckoo Search–Linde–Buzo–Gray (CS-LBG) codebook by implementing a Flight Dissemination Function (FDF), which produces more speed than other states of the art algorithms with appropriate mutation expectations for the overall codebook. Also, CS-KFGC has generated a high Peak Signal Noise Ratio (PSNR) in terms of high duration (time) and better acceptability rate.

Color Image Enhancement based on Gamma Encoding and Histogram Equalization

The remote sensing images acquired from the satellites are low contrast images. The availability of low contrast images and failure of the traditional methods such as Histogram Equalization and Gamma correction in preserving the brightness levels in the image are the main issues in satellite image processing. This paper proposes an optimized contrast stretching using non-linear transformation for image enhancement. The non-linear transformation is influenced by the appropriate choice of control parameters for the sample images since manual tuning for individual images is tedious. A Bat algorithm based tuning is employed for the automated selection of control parameters in the transformation. The performance of the optimization algorithm is compared against other metaheuristic algorithms such as Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). It is noted that the bat algorithm based contrast enhancement outperforms the other optimization techniques in terms of metrics such as Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), Absolute Mean Brightness Error (AMBE), Entropy and CPU time (Central Processing Unit).

Contrast Enhancement is a technique which comes into the part of Image Enhancement. Contrast Enhancement is used to enhance the visual quality of any captured or other image. Contrast Enhancement can be performed with the help of Histogram equalization (HE). In this technique, the image is collected in the gray scale allocation. The image is then partitioning and applying adaptive Histogram equalization (AHE). Fuzzy logic provides a set of logics which enhance the contrast and visibility of any image. In this technique, the visual quality and the contrast of image will change and then compare these results with previous techniques. The performance of several established image enhancement techniques is presented in terms of different parameters like Absolute mean brightness error (AMBE), Peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), contrast and Visual quality.

<title>Abstract</title> Image enhancement is a crucial process in various fields, including medical imaging, remote sensing, and digital photography. This study explores the application of the Beetle Antennae Search (BAS) algorithm for optimizing image enhancement parameters. The BAS algorithm is compared with the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to evaluate its effectiveness in improving image quality. The objective is to enhance grayscale images by adjusting parameters such as A, B, C, and K to maximize a fitness function that incorporates edge information and entropy. Experimental results demonstrate that BAS consistently outperforms PSO in terms of convergence speed and image quality metrics, including Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM). BAS-enhanced images exhibit significant improvements in contrast, brightness, and sharpness, making it a promising tool for image enhancement tasks.

Each university has different regulations in making lecture schedule according to the conditions of respective institution. In this study, regulation on lecture scheduling used the maximum limit of credits of lecturer in a day, in which if exceeds the maximum limit, then the schedule of course will be moved on another day. This study attempts to optimize the schedule preparation in each semester by considering the maximum limit of credits of a lecturer in a day. Lecture scheduling is a combination of space, time, and resources. It is categorized into combinatorial optimization group. There are two methods for solving the combinatorial optimization problems, i.e. exact and approximation method. The approximation method consists of two types, heuristics and metaheuristics. The algorithm metaheuristics categories include genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), ant colony optimization (ACO), bee colony optimization (BCO), simulated annealing, and so on. This paper employed metaheuristics approach. Research on the preparation of lecture scheduling using ACO algorithm has been conducted and proven to be able to prepare the lecture scheduling. The ACO algorithm has numbers of parameters that in solving issues, one must manually set a number of parameters by using the Design of Experiments (DoE) tool, which takes time to solve the optimization problem. Hence, to solve the issue, an automated parameter optimization is required. PSO algorithm has fewer parameters compared to the ACO. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is a hybrid between PSO and ACO in preparing lecture scheduling.

The construction site layout (CSL) design presents a particularly interesting area of study because of its relatively high level of attention to usability qualities, in addition to common engineering objectives such as cost and performance. However, it is difficult combinatorial optimization problem for engineers. Swarm intelligence (SI) was very popular and widely used in many complex optimization problems which was collective behavior of social systems such as honey bees (bee algorithm, BA) and birds (particle swarm optimization, PSO). In order to integrate BA global search ability with the local search advantages of PSO, this study proposes a new optimization hybrid swarm algorithm – the particle bee algorithm (PBA) which imitates the intelligent swarming behavior of honeybees and birds. This study compares the performance of PBA with that of genetic algorithm (GA), differential evolution (DE), bee algorithm (BA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) for multi-dimensional benchmark numerical problems. Besides, this study compares the performance of PBA with that of BA and PSO for practical construction engineering of CSL problem. The results show that the performance of PBA is comparable to those of the mentioned algorithms in the benchmark functions and can be efficiently employed to solve a hypothetical CSL problem with high dimensionality.

According to design criteria, site specifications, and required height, different dimensional options are considered for geometric parameters, while design gravity dams. Among options, an option that provides sustainability and low costs is considered as an executive option. In this study, the Koyna concrete gravity dam section in India and the Kalat Zavin concrete gravity dam in Khorasan Razavi province were optimized using the election meta-heuristic algorithm (EA) concerning the stability conditions. In this model, geometric parameters were considered as decision variables and dam weight as an objective function. The model obtains geometric parameters in such a way that the dam weight is minimized. To evaluate the proposed method, the Koyna dam and Kalat Zavin dam data set were used and the results were compared with Genetic (GA), Honey Bee Mating Optimization (HBMO), and Imperialist Competitive (ICA) algorithms. The results of the EA method indicate a 9.87% and 10.40% decrease in the volume of concrete consumption and a reduction in area for Koyna and Kalat Zavin dams. Based on the comparisons, the EA algorithm showed better performance in optimizing the dam section than the genetic algorithm (GA), honey bee mating algorithm (HBMO), and imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) optimization models. optimization models. Also, the improvement rate of the EA algorithm in comparison with ICA, HBMO, and GA algorithms is equal to 8%, 6%, and 11%, respectively.

The honey bee mating optimization (HBMO) algorithm is presented and tested with various test functions, and its performance is compared with the genetic algorithm (GA). It is shown that the HBMO algorithm can overcome the weaknesses of the GA. The HBMO converges faster than the GA. Even when the HMBO starts from a more improper initial condition than the GA, it can reach a better solution in a smaller number of function evaluations. Furthermore, in some cases, the GA was not able to reach the global minimum.
