Fast color contrast enhancement method for color night vision
Image fusion is a popular method which provides better quality fused image for interpreting the image data. In this paper, color image fusion using wavelet transform is applied for securing data through asymmetric encryption scheme and image hiding. The components of a color image corresponding to different wavelengths (red, green, and blue) are fused together using discrete wavelet transform for obtaining a better quality retrieved color image. The fused color components are encrypted using amplitude- and phase-truncation approach in Fresnel transform domain. Also, the individual color components are transformed into different cover images in order to result disguising information of input image to an attacker. Asymmetric keys, Fresnel propagation parameters, weighing factor, and three cover images provide enlarged key space and hence enhanced security. Computer simulation results support the idea of the proposed fused color image encryption scheme.

A novel color image fusion QoS measure for multi-sensor night vision applications
Color image fusion of visible and infra-red imagery can play an important role in multi-sensor night vision systems that are an integral part of modern warfare. Image fusion minimizes the amount of required bandwidth by transmitting the fused image rather than multiple sensor images. Color image fusion can be achieved by combining inputs from original colored sensors or by employing pseudo colorization and color transfer to grayscale images. Various quality measures have been proposed for multi-sensor grayscale image fusion techniques; but no appropriate quality measure has been devised for the quality evaluation of multi-sensor color image fusion. In this paper, we propose a novel color image fusion quality measure, Color Fusion Objective Index (CFOI) based on colorfulness, gradient similarity and mutual information techniques. Experimental results show the effectiveness of CFOI to evaluate the color and salient feature extraction introduced by color fusion techniques into the final fused imagery as well as its consistency with subjective evaluation.

In medical imaging, positron emission tomography (PET) shows metabolic changes of an organism in pseudo color and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging presents anatomical structures in gray level. The PET and MR brain medical image fusion produces one composite image rendering the anatomical structures with metabolic changes to help doctors effectively diagnose a possible disease. For this purpose, a new fusion method based on Intensity-Hue-Saturation model and log-Gabor wavelet transform is proposed. First, MR image and the intensity component of PET image are decomposed by log-Gabor wavelet transform with suitable decomposition scale. Then, maximum selection’ fusion rule for the high-frequency sub-band and two-stage fusion rule based on weighted-averaging scheme and visibility measure for the low-frequency sub-band are employed. Finally, a new intensity component, obtained by applying reverse log-Gabor wavelet transform to the fused high-and low-frequency sub-bands, along with original hue and saturation components of PET image are converted to obtain our fused color image. In our fused images, both anatomical structures and color changes are rendered with effectively-reduced color distortion. Experimental results on twelve sets, including normal axial, normal coronal, and Alzheimer’s disease brain images, demonstrate that our fusion method outpaces framelet-transform-based method both visually and quantitatively.

Asymmetric ciphers are widely used to ensure the confidentiality of data transmission via insecure channels. These cryptosystems allow the interacting parties to create a shared secret key for a symmetric cipher in such a way that an eavesdropper gets no information useful for cryptanalysis. Network security protocols that use asymmetric ciphers include TLS, S/MIME, OpenPGP, Tor, and many others. Some of the asymmetric encryption schemes are homomorphic, that is, that they allow calculations on encrypted data to be performed without preliminary decryption. The aforesaid property makes possible using these cryptosystems not only for symmetric key establishment but also in several areas of application, in particular in secret voting protocols and cloud computing. The matrix-based knapsack cipher is a new additively homomorphic asymmetric encryption scheme, which is based on the properties of isomorphic transformations of the inner direct product of diagonal subgroups of a general linear group over a Galois field. Unlike classic knapsack encryption schemes, the cryptographic strength of this cipher depends on the computational complexity of the multidimensional discrete logarithm problem. Despite some useful properties, further research into the cryptographic strength of the matrix-based knapsack cipher has found serious drawbacks inherent in this cryptographic scheme. In the given paper an improved polynomial-time plaintext-recovery attack on the matrix-based knapsack cipher is proposed. Applying this cryptanalytic method requires only public information and has time complexity O(t1.34), where t denotes the decryption time of the attacked cryptosystem. The aforementioned attack is more productive and easier to implement in software in comparison with the original one. The advantages of the proposed method are due to using in its algorithm the simple and relatively fast matrix trace operation instead of more complex and slower transformations.

We present an algorithm that produces a fused false color representation of a combined multiband IR and visual imaging system for maritime applications. Multispectral IR imaging techniques are increasingly deployed in maritime operations, to detect floating mines or to find small dinghies and swimmers during search and rescue operations. However, maritime backgrounds usually contain a large amount of clutter that severely hampers the detection of small targets. Our new algorithm deploys the correlation between the target signatures in two different IR frequency bands (3-5 and 8-12 im) to construct a fused IR image with a reduced amount of clutter. The fused IR image is then combined with a visual image in a false color RGB representation for display to a human operator. The algorithm works as follows. First, both individual IR bands are filtered with a morphological opening top-hat transform to extract small details. Second, a common image is extracted from the two filtered IR bands, and assigned to the red channel of an RGB image. Regions of interest that appear in both IR bands remain in this common image, while most uncorrelated noise details are filtered out. Third, the visual band is assigned to the green channel and, after multiplication with a constant (typically 1.6) also to the blue channel. Fourth, the brightness and colors of this intermediate false color image are renormalized by adjusting its first order statistics to those of a representative reference scene. The result of these four steps is a fused color image, with naturalistic colors (bluish sky and grayish water), in which small targets are clearly visible. Keywords: target detection; false color fusion, small targets, clutter, image fusion

Image fusion refers to the process of combining the visual information present in two or more images into a single high information content image. This study proposes the concept of fusing the Multi-dimensional images using the YCbCr color model based on the Multi-Wavelet Transform (MWT). Initially the source images namely the visible, Infra Red (IR) and Ultra Violet (UV) images are transformed from RGB color model to YCbCr color space and then MWT is applied to the Y, Cb and Cr components of the respective images. Finally the transform coefficients obtained are fused using the different fusion techniques. The performance of the color image fusion process is analyzed using the performance measures-Entropy (H), Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Correlation Coefficient (CC).

Watermarking is a generic strategy for overcoming numerous issues associated with multimedia security and digital rights management. The color image digital watermarking has not been given considerable attention, and there exists many applications that require them for copyright protection. An image-watermarking scheme based on Sequency based MRT (SMRT) for color image is proposed in this paper to achieve this goal. Choosing a color space for watermarking has always been a big question, as there are a number of color spaces. Primary objective is to find a better color space under the same method from among the frequently used color spaces. In the embedding phase, grayscale image watermark is embedded in the SMRT of R component of the cover image. Scaling factor is varied from 0.01 to 0.5 for evaluating performance of the methodology using PSNR, MSE, SSIM, IEM and NC. Performance of color image watermarking technique using SMRT in nine color spaces is analyzed. It is observed that embedding watermark in Cb channel of YCbCr color space is more imperceptible and robust compared to other color spaces considered. Simulation results show significant improvement in terms of imperceptibility. The robustness is high against GN attack as compared to other attacks.
Read moreA robust digital watermarking algorithm using DES and ECC in DCT domain for color images
Nowadays, Internet and multimedia is popularly growing fast and is being used in digital communication. With increase in demand, risks are also involved. Thus, digital watermarking is an absolute method to provide authentication and copyright protection to the digital media to protect it from illegal modification and redistribution. In this paper, we have proposed a robust watermarking algorithm using DES, ECC and DCT for color images. The original color image (watermark) and cover image has been separated into three independent color channels (red, green and blue) and their gray scale equivalents are used. Each individual gray scale equivalent of RGB components of original image has been encrypted using Data Encryption Standard (DES). The Henon map is used to generate three different round keys for DES with different initial parameters. After encrypting three different gray scale equivalents, the encrypted images are mapped to the points of elliptic curve. The mapped images so formed are embedded in different gray scale equivalents of RGB components of color image using DCT. The mapped images are hidden into the mid frequency of DCT blocks to avoid it from common attacks. The effectiveness and robustness of the algorithm is shown in the experiments.

Today, enterprises collect large amounts of and leverage the cloud to perform analytics over this data. Since the is often sensitive, enterprises would prefer to keep it confidential and to hide it even from the cloud operator. Systems such as CryptDB and Monomi can accomplish this by operating mostly on encrypted data; however, these systems rely on expensive cryptographic techniques that limit performance in true big data scenarios that involve terabytes of or more. This paper presents Seabed, a system that enables efficient analytics over large encrypted datasets. In contrast to previous systems, which rely on asymmetric encryption schemes, Seabed uses a novel, additively symmetric homomorphic encryption scheme (ASHE) to perform large-scale aggregations efficiently. Additionally, Seabed introduces a novel randomized encryption scheme called Splayed ASHE, or SPLASHE, that can, in certain cases, prevent frequency attacks based on auxiliary data.
Read moreSecure multi-party computation protocol using asymmetric encryption
Privacy preservation is very essential in various real life applications such as medical science and financial analysis. This paper focuses on implementation of an asymmetric secure multi-party computation protocol using anonymization and public-key encryption where all parties have access to trusted third party (TTP) who (1) doesn't add any contribution to computation (2) doesn't know who is the owner of the input received (3) has large number of resources (4) decryption key is known to trusted third party (TTP) to get the actual input for computation of final result. In this environment, concern is to design a protocol which deploys TTP for computation. It is proposed that the protocol is very proficient (in terms of secure computation and individual privacy) for the parties than the other available protocols. The solution incorporates protocol using asymmetric encryption scheme where any party can encrypt a message with the public key but decryption can be done by only the possessor of the decryption key (private key). As the protocol works on asymmetric encryption and packetization it ensures following: (1) Confidentiality (Anonymity) (2) Security (3) Privacy (Data).

Comparison between RSA hardware and software implementation for WSNs security schemes
The need of security to protect the data through networks has become of vital importance and critical for many sensor network applications. There are several security schemes implemented using hardware or software trying to solve the problem of security in WSN by taking into consideration the limitations of sensors (bandwidth and energy), the majority of them are symmetric key encryption schemes and some others are asymmetric encryption schemes is not recommended to be used because of high time complexity and consumption demand. In this study we compare the time complexity and power consumption between software and hardware implementation using RSA algorithm. Our simulation shows that usage of hardware security could improve time efficiency and decrease the power consumption, so the strong cryptography can be implemented in WSNs security.

The intent of this study was to develop a technique for weight and ripeness estimation of oil palm (Elaeis guieensis Jacq. var. tenera) bunches from hyperspectral and RGB color images. In the experiments, color and hyperspectral images of the bunch were acquired from four different angles, each differing by 90 degrees. Acquired RGB color images were converted to HSI and L*a*b color space. Gray-scale thresholds were used to identify the area of the bunch and the area of space between the fruits. The total number of pixels in the bunch and the space were counted, respectively. In the hyperspectral images, the total number of pixels in the bunch was also counted from an image composed of three wavelengths (560 nm, 680 nm, and 740 nm), while the total number of pixels of space between fruits was obtained at a wavelength of 910 nm. From these sets of data, weight-estimation equations were determined by linear regression (LR) or multiple linear regression (MLR). As a result, the coefficient of determination (R2) of actual weight and estimated weight were at a level of 0.989 and 0.992 for color and hyperspectral images, respectively. Estimation of oil palm bunch ripeness was also tested. Bunches belonging to 4 classes of ripeness (overripe, ripe, underripe, and unripe) were used for this study. Since ripeness estimation from overall data from a bunch was quite difficult, we focused on the difference in colors or reflectivity of the portion concealed and not-concealed with fronds. Euclidean distances between the test sample and the standard 4 classes of ripeness were calculated, and the test sample was classified into the ripeness class that had the shortest distance from the sample. In the classification based on color image, average RGB values of concealed and not-concealed areas were used, while in hyperspectral images the average intensity values of fruits pixels from the concealed area were used. The results of validation experiments with the developed estimation methods indicated acceptable estimation accuracy, and a possibility for practical use to estimate the ripeness of oil palm bunches.

A hybrid color and grayscale images encryption scheme based on the quaternion Hartley transform (QHT), the two-dimensional (2D) logistic map, the double random phase encoding (DRPE) in gyrator transform (GT) domain and the three-step phase-shifting interferometry (PSI) is presented. First, we propose a new color image processing tool termed as the quaternion Hartley transform, and we develop an efficient method to calculate the QHT of a quaternion matrix. In the presented encryption scheme, the original color and grayscale images are represented by quaternion algebra and processed holistically in a vector manner using QHT. To enhance the security level, a 2D logistic map-based scrambling technique is designed to permute the complex amplitude, which is formed by the components of the QHT-transformed original images. Subsequently, the scrambled data is encoded by the GT-based DRPE system. For the convenience of storage and transmission, the resulting encrypted signal is recorded as the real-valued interferograms using three-step PSI. The parameters of the scrambling method, the GT orders and the two random phase masks form the keys for decryption of the secret images. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has high security level and certain robustness against data loss, noise disturbance and some attacks such as chosen plaintext attack.
