Improvement of presentation performance through feedback

This research is motivated by observational data which shows Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. To respond to this, researchers conducted action research aimed at improving learning outcomes. The objectives to be achieved in this study include: (1) Knowing the types of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia (2) Knowing the principles of Islamic education (3) Knowing the kinds of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. The results showed that in Indonesia there are 3 kinds of educational institutions.

This study aimed to assess the readiness, attitudes, knowledge, and skills of lecturers in using artificial intelligence (AI) and electronic resources (ER) to enhance academic capacity. Understanding this adoption level is crucial for effectively integrating AI and ER into educational practices. In addition, this study contributes both theoretically and practically to digital scholarship by enhancing digital adoption and competence in education. This mixed-method study captured individual experiences and statistical trends related to digital scholarship in higher education. The qualitative method includes interviews, while the quantitative method involves survey questionnaires. The study focuses on lecturers from Islamic higher education institutions (IHEIs) in Indonesia. The results indicate that while lecturers rarely use AI and ES, they recognize the potential of digital technology in academic tasks. Despite limited exposure to AI and ER, IHEI lecturers in Indonesia can define these technologies accurately. Most lecturers actively update their knowledge and consider bias and ethical aspects in AI and ES usage. Regarding skills, over 60% of respondents reported proficiency in using AI and ES, suggesting a growing level of digital competence. These findings suggest that while many IHEI lecturers in Indonesia are prepared to adopt AI and ER, further support may be needed to ensure widespread acceptance.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the disclosure of Sustainability Reports (SR) on the Sustainability Performance (SP) of Educational Institutions in Indonesia. By focusing on a sample of 138 higher education institutions (HEIs) registered with UI Green Metric, the research seeks to determine which aspects of sustainability reporting are significant predictors of sustainability performance within these institutions. Methods/approaches: This study uses quantitative techniques to test hypotheses, with descriptive statistical analysis as the first step in the data analysis process. Results: The results showed that only the aggregate disclosure of sustainability reports, the disclosure of general dimensions and the disclosure of environmental dimensions affected the sustainability performance of HEIs, while the disclosure of the economic dimension, and the disclosure of the social dimension did not affect the sustainability performance of HEIs. Practical and Theoretical/Originality Contributions: This research provides insights to improve the transparency and accountability of higher education institutions in Indonesia through sustainability reporting, as well as applying legitimacy theory to explain under-researched reporting models. These findings enrich the academic literature and provide guidance for policy in higher education institutions. Research Limitations: The limitations of this study include the use of a sample that covers only 138 universities in Indonesia, which may limit the generalization of results for other higher education institutions outside this context. In addition, this study only considers the disclosure dimension of sustainability reports and does not consider external factors or other internal policies that may affect sustainability performance.

<p><span lang="EN-US">Self-confidence plays a pivotal role in public speaking, especially in English. Therefore, building students’ self-confidence is needed by using media including YouTube. The present study aims to elaborate on the role of YouTube in developing students’ self-confidence in English public speaking viewed from the student’s perspective. Further, some strategies used in developing students’ self-confidence are discussed. Using a qualitative method, the data of this study were gathered through a semi-structured interview with six students from the English Education Department of an Indonesian Islamic university. The findings reveal that most students have positive responses towards the use of YouTube as a medium to develop their self-confidence in English public speaking. In addition, they reported that YouTube plays a very crucial role in the development of their confidence in English public speaking. Importantly, they can comprehend the material more quickly, and develop their interest and motivation to learn. Finally, this study promotes the need for socialization from educational institutions in the development of English public speaking and the need to integrate the content of English public speaking with media and technology to enhance students’ learning success.</span></p>

This research focuses on the productive waqf model in Islamic Boarding School Darunnajah and its impact on the development of educational institutions. Islamic Boarding School Darunnajah, as one of the leading Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, has adopted various productive waqf models to improve its financial sustainability and infrastructure development. This research aims to analyze the various productive waqf models implemented in Islamic Boarding School Darunnajah, evaluate their effectiveness in supporting the sustainability and improvement of education quality, and formulate recommendations for further development. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through interviews with Islamic Boarding School managers, field observations, and analysis of relevant documents. The results show that Islamic Boarding School Darunnajah has successfully implemented various productive waqf models, including agricultural land management, commercial property, and financial investment. These models have contributed significantly to increasing the Islamic Boarding School’s income and supporting the development of various educational programs. Based on the findings, this study recommends measures to improve the implementation of productive waqf in Islamic Boarding School Darunnajah, including increased cooperation with the government and the private sector, the development of training programs for Islamic Boarding School managers, and the establishment of strategic partnerships with financial and investment institutions. As such, this study contributes to the understanding of productive waqf practices in Islamic Boarding Schools and offers valuable insights for other Islamic educational institutions interested in developing similar models. The practical implications of this research may help in improving the financial sustainability and quality of education in Islamic Boarding School as well as other Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia.

This study attempted to point out the role of social capital and explicit as well as tacit knowledge sharing to build human capital of students in higher educational institution in Indonesia. The research model was adapted and inspired from Aslam et al.'s model, however, we modified knowledge sharing variable by dividing it into two types of knowledge, i.e. explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge. The data collection conducted by spreading online questionnaires to students in several higher educational institutions in Indonesia. As many as 420 valid sample data was used to test hypotheses by using structural equation modeling (SEM). The result shows that the influence of component social factor between tacit knowledge sharing and explicit knowledge sharing is different. The components of social capital that influence to explicit knowledge sharing are shared language, social interaction ties, norm of reciprocity, identification and trust. However, the components of social capital that influence to explicit knowledge sharing are identification, norm of reciprocity, social interaction ties, shared language, shared vision. Moreover, tacit knowledge sharing is more influenced to human capital than explicit knowledge sharing. The result of this research can be used as basic knowledge for system developer to define features of knowledge sharing system in higher educational institution in Indonesia.

Private higher education in Indonesia faces challenges in improving educational quality to meet global demands. The policy of Academic Revitalization based on Information Technology (IT) emerges as a crucial strategy in addressing quality management changes. This research explores the implementation of this policy to enhance educational quality in private higher education institutions in Indonesia using seven variables. The research methodology involves a literature review and policy documentation analysis using Smart PLS. The research findings indicate that two variables were rejected due to being below the acceptance threshold. Five variables were accepted: Technology Alignment (3.258), Higher Education Quality Management (3.278), Moderating Effect 1 and 2 (both above 2.00), and the last variable, Revitalization of Academic Policies (2.614). However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, training needs, and appropriate policies remain significant issues to be addressed. In conclusion, the policy of Academic Revitalization based on IT provides a strong foundation for quality management changes in private higher education institutions in Indonesia. However, sustained commitment and significant investment are required to achieve optimal results.

The transformation of Human Resources (HR) risk management in higher education is becoming increasingly crucial in facing the dynamics of changes in education policy in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze how higher education institutions implement an adaptive approach in managing HR risk in order to improve organizational effectiveness and institutional competitiveness. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach and comparative analysis of several higher education institutions in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that the success of HR risk management is highly dependent on policy flexibility, investment in improving the competence of educators, the implementation of a transparent evaluation system, and attention to the welfare of educators. Higher education institutions that implement an adaptive HR risk management model are proven to be better prepared in facing policy changes and are able to develop into more competitive educational institutions. Therefore, this study recommends the formulation of more flexible and data-based policies to improve the resilience and innovation of higher education institutions in Indonesia.

Purpose: This study aims to collect empirical data on the impact of three critical variables in blockchain adoption – performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence – on the Intention to use blockchain in private higher education institutions in Indonesia. Using the UTAUT theoretical framework, this study aims to understand how these three factors influence the decision to adopt blockchain technology in accounting information systems. Methodology/approach: This study investigates how private universities in Indonesia perceive the possibility of implementing blockchain technology in the accounting system. By applying the UTAUT model, the study examined three aspects that may influence the willingness to adopt blockchain technology: performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence. Data was collected through distributing questionnaires to 136 leaders of finance departments in various private universities. Findings: The results show that performance and efficacy expectancy significantly influence the Intention to use blockchain technology in private universities. In contrast, social influence does not show a significant influence. Practical and Theoretical contribution/Originality: This research makes a practical contribution by highlighting the importance of perceived usefulness and ease of use in driving blockchain adoption in the higher education sector. From a theoretical perspective, this study extends the applicability of the UTAUT model in the context of private universities in Indonesia. Research Limitation: The Object of this research is only private higher education institutions in Indonesia.

This research is aimed to introduce one technique of performing English public speaking to non-English major students called Ultra-Short Presentation. There were a number of 34 non-English students of Faculty of Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, participated in this study, registered as the second semester in the academic year of 2022/2023. The method applied in this study was quantitative approach with true experimental design. In collecting the data, both pre and post-tests of performing public speaking virtually were used. Each student’s English public speaking performance was assessed by using scoring rubric for public speaking covering three facets; the introduction, the middle, the conclusion. This assessment consisted from ‘excellent’ to ‘very poor’ criterions. The analysis data of one-group pretest-post-test design revealed that the students performed better in the post-test than in the pre-test in which the average score they obtained in this test was 61.4, while in the post-test was 82.3. Besides, among the three parts assessment, the students reached their highest performance in the introduction section, while the lowest achievement was in the middle. These results confirmed that Ultra-Short Presentation was effective in making English public speaking of non-English major students more effective.

Religious education is one of three subjects that must be included in the curriculum of every formal educational institution in Indonesia. This is because religious life is one dimension of life that is expected to be realized in an integrated manner. Character education is a system of instilling good character values in all those involved and as school members so that they have knowledge, awareness, and action in implementing these values. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach, namely a research procedure that produces two descriptives in the form of speech or writing and behavior that can be observed from the subject itself. This type of research is descriptive, namely research that describes information data based on facts obtained in the field. The results of this research are answers to the problem formulation previously determined through observations, interviews, and documentation carried out by researchers. The following are the results of interviews conducted by researchers at Islamic Senior High School Private 10 Jombang. Character education is a system of instilling character values which is good for all those involved and as school members so that they have knowledge, awareness, and action in implementing these values. From this definition, there are three important thoughts, namely: a). Value Transformation Process b). Developed in the mind c). Become one in behavior.

The number of educational institutions in Indonesia makes parents more flexible in providing the best education for their children. In Indonesia, there is the oldest educational institution, namely pesantren. As the oldest institution in Indonesia, Islamic boarding schools have several differences from other educational institutions. Islamic boarding schools are also known as institutions that prioritize discipline and dedication to their teachers. Living in a boarding school with a variety of different characters is very prone to bullying. Bullying is the act of using power to hurt a person or group of people verbally, physically or psychologically so that the victim feels pressured, traumatized and helpless. Researchers got information that the Darul Ihsan Menganti Gresik Islamic Boarding School applied various habits to prevent acts of bullying. In order to create a boarding school that is child-friendly and cares about the welfare of its students. This made the researchers want to learn more about the strategies that have been implemented by Pondok Pesantren Darul Ihsan Menganti Gresik in preventing bullying. This research is a type of research that is qualitative in nature, namely a research that intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by research subjects such as behavior, perceptions, motivations, actions, and others in a holistic manner. The results of the study revealed that Pondok Darul Ihsan had implemented several bullying prevention strategies. Among them are establishing communication, anti-bullying seminars, strengthening parents and children, special counseling and religious activities.

This article describes planning, implementation, and long-term strategies of a community service project and aims to help high school students become more proficient public speakers. The first step of the preparation process was determining the needs of the students through preliminary surveys. Next, a WhatsApp group was created for coordination, and Zoom meetings were held to address the difficulties that the students were having with English public speaking. The main problems that were found were pessimism, fear of making mistakes, articulation difficulties, and lack of confidence. To solve these problems, training materials including the basic theory of public speaking, speaking techniques, real-world exercises, and self-evaluation were created. Videos and PowerPoint presentations were also included in both onsite and online training. The program's execution comprised eight sessions where students learned about different public speaking techniques, put them into practice, and got feedback. Strategies for sustainability, including ongoing teacher training, frequent workshops, the creation of accessible learning modules, the establishment of public speaking groups, and recurring evaluations, were suggested to guarantee the program's long-term impact. Amendment and development of education in Indonesia today requires various elements of education to participate in improving the quality of graduates to be able to compete in the global world. Indonesia was ranked 34th away from Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and Korea in the 20th position. This is because the educational institutions in Indonesia have not been able to produce graduates who are capable, superior, competeable with others. The educational tertiary education institution (LPTK) as one of the teacher producing institution has not been able to create prospective teacher who are ready to teach. The characteristic of the lecture process that is stated in Permenristek Dikti no. 44 of 2015 is interactive, holistic, integrative, scientific, contextual, thematic, effective, collaborative and student-centered. One way to realize this is to develop teaching materials that are used in applicable and communicative lectures. Based on the phenomenon, the researchers conducted research and development. In this study, researchers produce the elementary statistical teaching materials using the Minitab application by following Borg & Gall's research and development steps, namely (1) Carrying out information gathering (2) Designing (3) Develop the initial product form (4) Conduct pilot field trials. If can be concluded that the research on the development of statistical teaching materials that have produced valid products and can be used in lectures to develop student creativity. This development research should be continued in the next stage, namely the product effectiveness stage.

This study aims to analyze the historicity and dynamics of Islamic education institutions in Indonesia starting from the classical period, colonialism period, and pre- and post-independence periods. This research uses library research method. Data analysis using analytical descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the study show that Islamic education in Indonesia is the same age as the existence of Islam in the archipelago. Broadly speaking, the history of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia can be divided into three periods. First, the classical period of the 13th - 16th century, namely since the entry of Islam in Indonesia, the establishment of the Islamic empire, the era of the Islamic empire until the entry of colonizers into Indonesia. Several institutions during this period were mosques, Islamic boarding schools, menasah, rangkang and dayah, surau. Second, the colonial period until the independence period (1600 - 1945). At this time it was divided into two, namely during the Dutch colonial period, there were several institutions namely Elementary Education, Latin Schools, Seminarium Theologicum, Academie der Marine, Chinese Schools. During the Japanese occupation there were several institutions, namely Basic Education (Kokumin Gakko), Advanced Education, consisting of Shoto Chu Gakko, Vocational Education, Higher Education. Third, the period of the independence era (1945-present). There are several institutions, namely pesantren, madrasah, schools, PTKI.
