Industrial Development in Modern China

It is undeniable that there is a relevance between advances in science and technology, especially information and communication technology, which has an impact on the progress of the development of the economic sector and human welfare. This paper aims to obtain evidence of the study of technological innovation on economic capacity and development. Supporting data for this study are a number of scientific journal publications, books and websites that discuss issues of technology and economic welfare. Before answering this question, we conducted a data analysis involving a data evaluation system, data coding and deep interpretation to obtain valid and convincing answers. Based on the analysis, the discussion of our results confirms that through the evidence of the study there is a very deep relevance of technological development and innovation impact on economic development. Therefore, the policy-making parties should take advantage of any technological developments for the development of the Indonesian economy.

Current studies of economic growth that emphasize the role of universities and other institutions of higher education have increasing focused on technology transfer. Attention has shifted towards easily quantified metrics such as the number of patents issued, licenses signed, licensing revenues received, and the formation of new companies based on university technologies. This emphasis ignores the larger contribution of universities to the economy as agents of economic and social development. The papers for this special issue are drawn from a conference held at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in April 22–24, 2009, that brought together a group of scholars and practitioners to explore how to expand our inquiry to consider the larger role that research universities play in the modern economy. The papers in this issue attempt to consider the broader impact of universities as actors in economic and industrial development and provide a more critical assessment of the factors and conditions that affects the ability of universities to promote socially desirable outcomes. It is our desire to widen the discussion and increase understanding of the range of activities for which universities have stewardship in the economy and society. We hope to begin a dialogue on the types of metrics that capture this broader influence. Historically, universities—the venue of many social movements—led social activism. While universities were concerned with educating the elite at their early formation, their role is constantly expanding. With expanding opportunities brought by the Industrial Revolution, universities began to make more direct contributions on a social and economic level. Starting in the second half of the twentieth century, with a reliance on public funding of higher educational institutions, universities found themselves under enormous pressure to make a return to society. As we say that we now live in a knowledge economy the role of universities has become central.

Low-altitude economy, as a typical representative of new quality productive forces and a strategic emerging industry, has become an important engine for promoting high-quality economic development and achieving technological self-reliance and self-improvement in China. This study systematically reviews the development trajectory of low-altitude economy, deeply elucidates the connotations and characteristics of low-altitude technology and its impact mechanisms on low-altitude industrial development, providing theoretical support for constructing a modernized low-altitude economic system. It finds that the concept of low-altitude economy has undergone a paradigm shift from industry terminology to economic formation, gradually completing the institutionalization process from strategic planning to legal guarantee, forming a new paradigm of low-altitude economic development with Chinese characteristics. Low-altitude technology serves as the key bottleneck constraining low-altitude economic development. Its essence is a new system formed by the integration of five core technologies: low-altitude aircraft manufacturing, drone remote communication and control, environmental perception and navigation positioning, low-altitude air-route planning and airspace management, and big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, which drives systematic development of low-altitude industries through three mechanisms. Nevertheless, the current transformation of low-altitude technology to industry still faces systematic obstacles including low technological maturity, fragmented market demand, lagging regulatory environment, and incomplete industrial ecosystem. Based on the strategic layout of a unified national market, efforts should be coordinated to advance technological research, market cultivation, institutional innovation, and ecosystem construction, accelerating the formation of a virtuous cycle between low-altitude technological innovation and industrial development, providing strong support for building a modernized industrial system and serving major national strategic objectives.

Methods. The generalization and analysis made it possible to prove that the most important condition for the economic development of the country in modern turbulent conditions is to ensure the stability of the development of industrial enterprises in the real sector of the economy. In the course of the globalization of the economy, accompanied by the active development of the economic space, the acceleration of the exchange of information, technology, knowledge and experience, contribute to the transformation of industrial enterprises and increase their dynamism, which puts forward new requirements for doing business. The issues of the constancy of functioning and development of industrial enterprises are becoming increasingly important due to the increasing impact on business entities of negative trends caused by exogenous and endogenous factors (financial crises, pandemics, military events, etc.). Accordingly, qualitative changes are needed in the management mechanisms at the level of industrial enterprises to ensure their sustainable functioning and development. In unstable economic conditions, the management of industrial enterprises must be based on the principles of adaptation to ensure economically sustainable functioning and development in the long term. However, at present, one can state the low quality of management, which negatively affects the efficiency of industrial enterprises. Consequently, the modern market economy requires absolutely innovative approaches to management, which are based on the principles of selffinancing, self-sufficiency, self-government. Results. The author in the article analyzed the dynamics of the volume of sales (goods, services) of enterprises in 2010–2021 (according to the institutional and functional approach). The results of the analysis indicate that the volume of sold products (goods, services) of the industry in the total number of products sold for 2010–2021. 68% to 33.78%. Therefore, we can state the fact that the general industry provides from 30 to 40% of the total volume of sales, which confirms the priority of this industry in the development of the country's economy. The article analyzes the problems of industrial enterprises, identifies the components and their indicators necessary for a permanent assessment of the resource potential as the basis for the formation of a management system for the innovative development of industrial enterprises. Novelty. An algorithm is proposed for assessing the components of the resource potential of industrial enterprises in order to develop a management solution for the formation of a foresightinnovative enterprise management mechanism, which consists in successfully overcoming problems at domestic industrial enterprises, needs an integrated approach, including business support, technology modernization, stable energy supply, social responsibility and favorable conditions in the investment and regulatory environment. Only in such conditions it is possible to create certain positive conditions for the development of industry and ensure the sustainable growth of the country's economy. Practical value. It was determined that the solution of problems at domestic industrial enterprises of Ukraine requires comprehensive measures, including support from the state, involvement of the private sector, modernization of technologies and management, innovation, education and international cooperation. Only in such conditions it is possible to create favorable conditions for the stable development of domestic industrial enterprises.

With the economic and social development and the improvement of peoples living standards, the urban carbon emission increases. Studying the influence of industrial structure and spatial patterns on carbon emission under the economic development of different cities can help to find the main factors affecting carbon emission, formulate policies to solve the problem according to local conditions, and provide an important scientific basis for the transformation of economic growth mode and the construction of low-carbon cities. This paper draws conclusions by analyzing the trend curves of urban carbon emissions and economic factors over the years. Different regions of the citys economic development potential differences are obvious, and the potential for greater spatial concentration of cities; citys economic development potential in the spatial and temporal distribution of key cities and major urban agglomerations as the basis for the point - line - surface in order to promote. economically developed cities, the total carbon emissions, carbon emissions growth rate of a declining trend; economically underdeveloped areas, the total carbon emissions, carbon emissions growth rate of a year-on-year trend; the degree of carbon emissions and the degree of prosperity of the secondary industry is closely linked. Chinas urban carbon emissions have a significant positive spatial correlation between 2006 and 2016, the cold spot area of urban carbon emissions is relatively stable, mainly distributed in the eastern and southern economic zones, while the hot spot area is mainly distributed in the northwest, northeast and the middle reaches of the Yellow River economic zone.

The developed world, which includes the United States of America (US), constantly works to reduce carbon dioxide emissions for the benefit of its people's health while advancing technical innovation to achieve impressive economic development. This motivates this study to use artificial neural network (ANN) and the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) technique to explore the relationship between technological innovation, economic development, and CO2 emissions in the US in order to add to the body of knowledge already in existence. For this study, secondary data from 1990 to 2023 was gathered from the World Bank and globaleconomy.com. The results show that, whereas the artificial neural network shows that economic development contributes more to C02 emissions, the Environmental Kuznets Curve shows that higher levels of technical innovation and economic development lower C02 emissions. Hence, in order to maintain C02 emissions at the lowest possible level and improve the nation's atmospheric conditions, the US government should guarantee sustainable policies that will promote economic development and technological innovation.

Constructing a new development pattern and developing high-quality productivity cannot be separated from the innovative development of various industrial economies. What factors affect the development of industrial economy, according to which industrial economic development strategies can be summarized, is the focus of attention in this paper. Ten secondary indicators corresponding to the level of economic development, the level of urbanization, the standard of living of the population, the labor force and the role of the government are selected as variables and incorporated into the ordered Logit model for regression analysis, and innovative development strategies are proposed based on the results of the analysis. The significance p>0.05 of variables such as urban land utilization rate, number of people employed in the industrial economy, and cost of living index, and the regression coefficients of variables such as GDP, GDP per capita, proportion of the urban population, disposable income per capita, number of college graduates, and government financial expenditures and efficiencies were all found to be positive, which suggests that in order to realize the innovative development of the industrial economy, we should implement the following measures: strengthening the economy, expanding the industrial clusters, promoting consumption, attracting talents, increasing government support and other strategies should be implemented to realize the innovative development of industrial economy.

There is not a consensus about a complete set of explanatory variables that could ultimately explain the linkages behind achieving economic development. In spite of this, determinants of economic development and especially the linkages between economic development and logistics performance are topics of growing interest within the recent literature, both in economic growth theory and maritime studies. In this paper our attention is focused on the importance of logistics performance as one of the explanatory variables for economic development. To this end, we have estimated different econometric models in an attempt to explain the probability of a country being economically developed, based on a number of traditional explanatory variables (including natural endowments, economic openness, and institutional framework, among others) along with logistics performance as the major theoretical innovation. The applied methodology follows the binary choice framework described in probit models. In the next step the research is concentrated on the determination of possible endogenous causalities of the economic development. In the last section we estimate the logistics gap, measured as a probability of reaching economic development that varies due to differences in the levels of logistics performance. Our main finding shows that logistics performance is closely related to the probability of a country being developed. Specifically, the probability of being a developed country increases when logistics performance is improved.

This study investigates 30 provinces in China between 2003 and 2014. Kernel density method is used to analyse the dynamic evolution of haze pollution and technological innovation research and development (R&D), while spatial econometric analysis is used to study the impact of technological innovation on the haze pollution. The results show that haze pollution presents global spatial autocorrelation and local spatial cluster in China. China’s haze pollution has a significant spatial dependence and spatial spillover. A disproportion distribution pattern of haze pollution exists among provinces in China: the central region is the most polluted area followed by the western region, the northeast region and the eastern region. The kernel density curve shows that the gap between technology innovations R&D among provinces has expanded year by year. There is a polarization between the technological innovations R&D. Dynamic evolution results showed that during 2003–2012, the kernel density distribution curve of haze pollution showed a leftward shift, indicating that provincial haze pollution decreased gradually. However, the kernel density distribution curve of haze pollution showed a rightward shift in 2014, and the provincial haze pollution increased. During 2003–2012, the gap of haze pollution among different provinces in China gradually narrowed, while in 2014, the gap increased significantly. Spatial econometric results show that the indirect effects and the total effects of technological innovation are significantly negative. Technological innovation can not only reduce the regional haze pollution but also indirectly lead to the decline in the haze pollution of adjacent provinces through the knowledge spillover effect. The increase of population density can effectively reduce the haze pollution. There is an inverted ‘U type’ relationship between economic development and haze pollution. The increase of traffic pressure will aggravate the degree of haze pollution.

Based on data of 31 provinces in China for the period 2007–2017, this paper establishes spatial models by means of a transcendental logarithmic production function and analyzes the impact of regional credit and technological innovation on regional economic growth. The Jenks natural breaks method, kernel density function, and Moran index are introduced for spatial statistical analysis. Spatial weight matrices are constructed from two aspects of geographical characteristics and innovative input characteristics. The empirical results show significant spatial heterogeneity and spatial autocorrelation in economic growth, regional credit, and technological innovation. Both regional credit and technological innovation are important impacts to economic growth, whereas the interaction of regional credit and technological innovation has a negative effect on provincial economic growth. Therefore, we argue that China should rationally allocate regional credit resources, strengthen technological innovation capabilities, and boost the integrated development of regional credit and technological innovation. It is a particularly important way to facilitate regional economic integration and sustainable development.

Business Studies and Management Education in Japan's Economic Development - An institutional perspective

The contribution of manufacturing to the economic development of Queensland has been much more significant than has generally been acknowledged in the state's historiography. Manufacturing has been fundamentally important to the growth of the Queensland economy by allowing the conversion of many primary industry commodities into products valued in overseas and interstate markets and providing an industrial capacity to support infrastructure development and many of the everyday goods consumed by the people of Queensland. Manufacturing has also provided avenues of employment and commercial activity in the urban centres across Queensland and, in particular, in the south-eastern region. Queensland's secondary industries managed to expand and diversify despite many economic difficulties and the apathy of successive Queensland governments from the nineteenth century and well into the first half of the twentieth century. This thesis examines the central features of economic development in Queensland and the relationship between industrial development, particularly the manufacturing industries, and the political economy from the earliest years of European settlement to the early decades of the twentieth century. This study provides a general assessment of economic development in the nineteenth century and a comprehensive empirically based economic history of all industry sectors in Queensland, with an emphasis on the manufacturing sector, for the period 1900 to 1930. Using the fullest body of statistical and qualitative sources possible, this thesis analyses the various economic, social, political, ideological, geographical, and sociological factors that have influenced the form and character of economic and industrial development and manufacturing in Queensland. The manufacturing sector has been much maligned and marginalised in Queensland; the populist anti-urban, anti-industrial and anti-centralist attitudes of successive Queensland governments have been powerful deterrents to urban and industrial progress. In Queensland the agrarian dream held steadfast and governments continually implemented rural development schemes intended to populate the interior through the promotion of closer settlement. With the political process infused by a significant rural bias very little assistance was directed towards the state's manufacturing sector which managed, nevertheless, to expand to be, in terms of its value of production, Queensland's most valuable industry sector by the mid-1920s. This thesis by addressing the paucity of economic history specific to Queensland; its comprehensive quantitative empirical foundation; its focus on the development of Queensland's secondary industries; and for its use of an extensive body of archival sources to present a comprehensive analysis of the economic development of Queensland, makes a significant contribution towards broadening an understanding of Queensland's economic and political history. From another perspective, the significance of this research lies with the implications associated with an examination of the lack of social identification in Queensland with industrialism and ideals that were generally unsympathetic towards an industrial society. A consideration of this anti-industrial hegemony is crucial to any analysis of the social, political, economic, and cultural development of Queensland.

Introduction. Any economic system's development is only possible with capital participation. Over several centuries, a stable concept has emerged that considers human capital as an essential source of investment for innovation, scientific and technological progress, and the stable development of the state. At the same time, the practical realization of this concept is associated with such categories as education, science, healthcare, competencies, skills, professional abilities of employees, intellectual output, etc. The purpose of the article: The aim is to comprehensively investigate the innovative potential of human capital from the perspective of a driving force for progress in the knowledge age. Methods: Modern science is based on openness and accessibility as tools of scientific search and research. Human capital is an essential element of this search, expressed in intellectual abilities, self-development, and theoretical and practical generalizations. The basis for more profound research and generalizations is the study of internal and external influences on the formation of human capital and the definition of its role in the scientific sense. Results: Analyzing human capital through the prism of its structural formation, it is worth noting that its meaning has changed in different periods. In the twentieth century, when the economy was formed in the context of industrial development, human capital was focused on technological excellence and ingenuity. In the 21st century, economic development is dominated by the intellectual and scientific component, which is the basis for the functioning of the national system. Therefore, human capital in this period is gaining new meaning as a knowledge economy. In forming the country's national economy, the intangible form of capital is becoming increasingly important, where human resource is the basis of socio-economic development. Conclusions. As a result of the theoretical analysis of existing approaches and new proposals, the innovative economic development model is developing dynamically. Human (intellectual) capital is prioritized in this model, stimulating informatization and introducing modern scientific and technological innovations. Human capital is a complex phenomenon that adapts to modern innovative and technological changes and acts as an organizational motivator for achieving a high level of industrialization and a civilized environment.
