Integration of SDG values in Indonesian language course learning

One of the best role models for encouraging kids to learn is visual media, which may be utilized to accomplish educational objectives. Teachers can increase students' interest in the lecture by using image media, which can help with comprehension and memory consolidation. This study aimed to ascertain the type of instructional materials utilized in Indonesian language courses and if image media instructional materials may enhance reading proficiency in Indonesian language courses in class III MI. Rensing of Birrul Walidain NW. Data for the qualitative descriptive study design was gathered through documentation, interviews, and observation. Four steps encompass the data analysis process: gathering data, reducing data, presenting data, and making conclusions. The study's findings demonstrate: Two types of visual aids frequently utilized in Indonesian language courses are 1) visual aids in the form of posters and 2) visual aids in the form of serial photos. Regarding media image, there are four ways that it may help with reading comprehension in Indonesian language courses: a) media usage; b) learning media; c) student reading abilities; and d) teacher training and improvement of student reading skills.

The function of education is to develop capabilities as well as to form dignified national character and civilization in order to develop the nation’s intellectual life. The aims of education on various levels are to form the students’ character. In its implementation, character education is conducted by integrating character values in the learning process. Thus, in this study, the researcher investigated the form of the implementation of character education through the learning process of an Indonesian language course in university. This study was a case study at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI). The model used in this study is the Research and Development Model by Borg and Gall as well as Brown’s stages of development. This study involved 200 university students from 13 faculties who were taught the Indonesian language. Indonesian language lecturers and the academic stakeholders of UMI also became the respondents in this study. The results found that Islamic university is a feature of character education at UMI. Furthermore, UMI students need character education through Indonesian language course. Fortunately, the lecturers had implemented character education in every element of the teaching but still not with the learning materials. Meanwhile, academic stakeholders understood that character education could be done through learning, university management, and students’ activities. This study concluded that character-based Indonesian learning materials were developed to complete character education at UMI and to meet the needs of students, lecturers, and academic stakeholders.

The purpose of this research is to (a) develop teaching materials for Indonesian language courses for Master of Elementary Education (Dikdas) students, (b) to create Indonesian language lecture materials that support students' abilities as candidates for Masters in Basic Education, (c) availability of references Indonesian language material that can be used by students in lectures and the completion of their final project (thesis), and (d) the availability of various references to Indonesian subjects. In addition, the teaching materials for this Indonesian Language Course can be used for research activities; (a) increasing the literacy competence of teaching staff in the Primary Education Study Program, (b) increasing the quality of Indonesian language course material content, and (c) increasing libraries in the S-2 Dikdas Study Program, in improving the quality of lectures and student learning outcomes. This study was designed using a Research and Development approach. Research data collection techniques; interviews and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative analysis. The research output is expected to be; (a) a draft of Indonesian Language Course teaching materials for Master of Basic Education students, and (b) the results of the research will be published in the S-2 Basic Education journal, (c) a printed reference book, and (d) obtain an IPR.

This study will explore the Google Jamboard learning method during covid-19 during online learning, showing that the perception of students and lecturers regarding the most effective application when online learning is using Google Jamboard?. The purpose of this study is to see learning media that can support student success based on the teaching and learning process as an effective form of activity in order to achieve the desired goals, it is hoped that learning media will become a mediator which is one of the tools in the teaching and learning process. The expected result after the implementation of this research is to increase the knowledge and understanding of students and lecturers in Indonesian language courses. This study will look at the effect of using Google Jamboard on the effectiveness of the learning process in Indonesian language courses in the elementary school teacher education study program at Battuta University. After the results of this study, in the future, students and lecturers during online learning, lecturers will certainly find it easier to provide Indonesian language course material to students by using Google Jamboard.

This study examines the issue of first language interference in spoken and written Indonesian by Azerbaijani students who are taking an Indonesian language course at Azerbaijan University of Languages. The study is framed within the context of bilingualism, where first language interference occurs when individuals learn a foreign language. The aim of this research is to identify the types and causes of interference displayed by Azerbaijani-speaking students when using Indonesian language, with a focus on speaking and writing during classroom activities. A descriptive qualitative approach was used to collect data through observation and documentation, including oral recordings and written assignments. Analysis revealed that Azerbaijani students face pronunciation, morphology, and syntax challenges due to interference based on Weinreich’s theory. Pronunciation challenges arise from the lack of the phonetic sound [ê] in Azerbaijani, resulting in substitutions with [é]. Morphological complexities arise from the unfamiliarity with prefixes in Azerbaijani, making it difficult to transform active sentences into passive structures. Syntactic challenges arise due to the differing sentence structures between Azerbaijani (S-O-P-C) and Indonesian (S-P-O-C). To mitigate interference, it is recommended to include targeted phonological drills, increased morphological exercises, and enhanced syntactic practice to facilitate a smoother language acquisition journey for Azerbaijani students who are mastering Indonesian language.

This study aims to describe the problematics of online learning in Indonesian language courses. This research is descriptive research. The aim of this research is problematic learning in Indonesian language courses online. The data in this study are learning problems that occur in Indonesian language learning activities. Researchers make observations and documentation to collect data. Based on observations and data collection, it is known that online learning in Indonesian courses, there are several learning problems. The problematic of online learning that occurs in the learning process of Indonesian courses occurs in the learning components. Learning problems occur in (1) learning facilities or media and infrastructure, namely e-learning and internet access; (2) presentation of material and use of learning methods; (3) discussion activities, and (4) learning assessment. During the learning process by establishing good communication with students, as well as efforts to hold effective learning, the teacher determines learning techniques that can minimize these problems.

This study is based on extensive library research, utilizing a wide range of information and resources from various sources. Having the right instructional materials is crucial for the successful completion of any academic program, including Indonesian language classes. Junior high school Indonesian language classes in Class VIII explore a range of subjects, one of which is the art of crafting advertisement copy. To achieve optimal outcomes, it is crucial to utilize appropriate instructional resources while acquiring proficiency in the Indonesian language for advertising purposes. This research aimed to provide a comprehensive description of the different types of advertisements that can be utilized as teaching materials in Indonesian language courses, along with an exploration of the diverse concepts associated with these materials.

Poverty is one of the central elements in the transformative promise of the 2030 Agenda: leave no one behind. Ending poverty in all forms and everywhere is the first Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and much can be discussed about its impact on several other sustainability elements. In this context, this paper explores the role of poverty and why it poses a central barrier in the implementation of the SDGs in developing countries. The research questions intended to assess: i) to which extent poverty is seen as a sustainability challenge and properly included in governance actions, ii) which are the SDGs most negatively affected by poverty, and iii) which are the main challenges for the implementation of SDG 1. An international survey was performed with researchers, professors, and representatives of administrative sectors in universities from 34 countries round the world. The vast majority of those taking part in the study consider poverty to be a threat to the implementation of the SDGs in their countries. Practically all goals are seen to be hampered, especially SDG 2 ‘Zero Hunger’, SDG 3 ‘Good Health and Well-being’, SDG 4 ‘Quality Education’ and SDG 6 ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’. The implications of this paper are twofold: it illustrates the need to pay a special attention to poverty reduction which may pose a central barrier to the implementation of the SDGs and describes a set of items needed, in order to foster the implementation of one of the key goals.

This study is grounded in the growing concern over the weakening of students’ critical literacy skills and cultural awareness in higher education, particularly in the context of rapid digitalization and the dominance of global discourse. Local cultural traditions, especially those rooted in Maumere society, have not been optimally utilized as meaningful academic literacy resources in Indonesian language learning. This research aims to explore how Maumere cultural traditions can be integrated as sources of critical literacy to strengthen students’ interpretative, analytical, and reflective abilities. Employing a qualitative research approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in depth interviews with students and lecturers, and documentation of learning materials in Indonesian language courses at Universitas Muhammadiyah Maumere. The findings reveal that traditional texts, narratives, rituals, and oral expressions from Maumere culture contain rich linguistic, ethical, and symbolic meanings that support the development of critical reading and writing skills. The integration of cultural texts encourages students to engage more deeply with academic discourse while simultaneously reinforcing local identity and cultural sensitivity. This study implies that culturally grounded literacy practices not only enhance academic competencies but also contribute to the preservation of local wisdom within higher education learning frameworks.

This research aims to find out the right financing scheme so that the implementation of SDGs is more optimal and beneficial for small communities. inclusive financial contributions (zakat, infak and alms) in realizing SDGs and their relevance in realizing SDGs from a sharia maqashid perspective. This study uses a combination of qualitative-quantitative methods and approaches. Quantitative data analysis used is a method of tabulation, composing coding and score of variables. While qualitative data analysis includes the stage of data reduction, presentation and withdrawal of conclusions The results of this study show that the implementation of SDGs is carried out by a joint financing scheme through government and non-government budgets, one of which is through the distribution of zakat. The contribution of zakat in the implementation of SDGs has been carried out by the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) in the form of independence programs, religious education, health and social care. The relevance of zakat in realizing SDGs with Sharia Maqashid is shown in aid programs organized by Baznas such as the Program (1) eliminating poverty, (2) ending hunger, (3) good health and well-being, (4) quality education, and (5) clean water and sanitation relevant to the SDGs Program.

Information literacy is an essential competency for locating, evaluating, and using information effectively and ethically. The factual condition at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta (UNJAYA) shows that many students still experience difficulties in finding, evaluating, and properly using information. According to the UNJAYA Library’s internal report, more than 60% of final-year students struggle to locate relevant scholarly sources and perform proper citation, while 20% of cases are related to plagiarism. This situation contrasts with the ideal condition in which every student is expected to possess adequate information literacy skills to support learning and the development of both academic and professional competencies. This study focuses on the implementation of information literacy within the Basic Literacy course at Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta (UNJAYA). The main research question addresses how information literacy is integrated into the curriculum as part of a compulsory course. The study employs a qualitative approach through literature review, stakeholder analysis, and evaluation of course implementation, with thematic analysis serving as the foundation for data interpretation. The findings reveal that the information literacy program at the UNJAYA Library is not merely an additional service but has been formally recognized as part of the Basic Literacy and Indonesian Language course since 2022. This integration strengthens the role of librarians in supporting student learning and enhances their ability to identify, evaluate, and use information ethically and effectively. The study provides theoretical implications that information literacy should be viewed as a core competency in higher education, as well as practical implications in the form of a learning model that can be replicated by other universities to improve educational quality and student readiness to face information challenges in the digital era. Objective: The fundamental purpose of education is to cultivate learners’ capacity to think critically as an essential component of human development. Critical thinking aligns with higher-order cognitive processes in Bloom’s taxonomy, particularly analyzing, evaluating, and creating, which are central to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 on quality and inclusive education. This study aims to examine the effect of Model-Based Learning, operationalized through Problem-Based Learning (PBL), on students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Studies at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura. Theoretical framework: The theoretical framework integrates constructivist learning theory, Bloom’s cognitive taxonomy, and the SDGs-oriented education paradigm, emphasizing learner-centered instruction and cognitive empowerment. Literature review: Prior studies highlight the effectiveness of PBL in promoting critical reasoning; however, empirical evidence within Islamic education contexts linked explicitly to SDGs remains limited. Methods: This research employed an experimental method using a pretest–posttest non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of 53 ninth-grade students, with 18 students assigned to the experimental group and 35 students to the control group. Data were collected through structured pre-tests and post-tests designed to measure critical thinking indicators within the cognitive domain of Bloom’s taxonomy. Results: The findings reveal a statistically significant effect of PBL on students’ critical thinking skills in Islamic Studies. The Mann–Whitney test yielded an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001, indicating a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group. These results demonstrate that Model-Based Learning contributes meaningfully to developing students’ higher-order thinking skills while supporting the goals of sustainable and quality education. Implications: The implications of this study suggest that integrating SDGs-oriented PBL into Islamic education can enhance cognitive competence, foster critical awareness, and prepare students for complex social challenges. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in its empirical linkage between Model-Based Learning, Islamic Studies, and SDGs within a junior high school context, offering a replicable framework for sustainable educational practices.

This study aims at investigating the presence of correlation between comprehension of language elements and attitude towards Indonesian language with scientific paper writing competence. This research was conducted on the students of MIPA-FKIP UNS from July to November 2015 by employing survey method as a tool of correlational study. The population included all students of PMIPA-FKIP UNS attending Indonesian language course and the research samples were 70 students, gathered using cluster random sampling technique. The research data were collected with composition test of scientific paper writing, test of comprehension of language elements and questionnaires on attitude towards Indonesian language. Afterwards, the data were statistically analyzed using simple and multiple regression analyses and correlation analysis. The researchresults indicate that 1) there is a positive and significant correlation between comprehension of language elements and scientific paper writing competence; 2) there is a positive and significant correlation between attitude towards Indonesian language and scientific paper writing competence; and 3) there is a positive and significant correlation between comprehension of language el ements and attitude towards Indonesian language along with scientific paper writing competence.

This research aims to understand the self-adaptation management of students from Thailand who are pursuing teacher training study programs in Indonesia. The focus of the research includes: 1) cultural differences between Thailand and Indonesia that affect students' self-adaptation, 2) the self-adaptation strategies used by Thai students, and 3) their expectations for self-adaptation management at the university. The method used was qualitative with a narrative inquiry approach through interviews and observations of 9 respondents. The results showed that Thai students at the Islamic University of Indonesia observed cultural differences in social values, norms, and religious aspects that influenced social interaction, responses to authority, and understanding of dominant cultures as well as lifestyles and perceptions of time. They develop adaptation strategies through Indonesian language courses, international communities, technology, lecturer guidance, and local friendships. Students expect the university to provide orientation programs, guidance, comfortable dormitories, cultural exchange, inclusive activities, and community support, as well as ensure the quality of higher education, competent lecturers, and relevant curriculum. This research provides insights for universities to develop more effective orientation and mentoring programs and shows the importance of technology support in the adaptation process. The limitation of this study is that its scope is limited to one university with a small number of respondents, so it is recommended for future research to include more universities and a wider range of respondents for a more comprehensive understanding. This study investigates the adoption and implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS). The researchers selected 25 top multinational companies and studied the adoption of UN SDGs through its vision and mission statements. Using the content analysis method, this study reveals that although companies in BRICS countries have been trying to adopt defined UN SDGs, important goals are missing. Chinese companies stand first while focusing on sustainable industry innovation and infrastructure, and South African companies’ interest in adopting UN SDGs appears to be very low. Overall, the results depict that important UN SDGs—‘Quality Education’, ‘Climate Action’, and ‘Life Below Water’—are missing from the vision and mission statements of companies in BRICS countries. It is recommended that BRICS countries pay more attention to the UN-defined sustainable development goals. This study is unique in that it provides an analytical method to evaluate the implementation of the sustainable development goals in BRICS countries. Future studies should include more countries, in order to study a broader implementation of the goals.
