Introduction to the technical program

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to ICN 2015, the 2nd ACM Conference on Information-Centric Networking, held from September 30 to October 2, 2015, in San Francisco, CA, USA! We have worked to put together a strong technical program that would be of interest to researchers, industrial practitioners, and students in the field of Information Centric Networking. The program includes technical research paper presentations, a keynote presentation, as well as two tutorials, technical demonstrations, poster presentations, and a panel discussion. This year, the technical program of ICN attracted 55 submissions. The Program Committee proceeded with a two phase selection process. In the first phase, three members of the program committee reviewed each one of the 55 submissions. We then selected those papers with at least one positive review or with no decidedly negative reviews for a second phase. The 45 papers that went to the second phase then received one or two additional reviews, and based on all the reviews we then selected 38 papers to discuss in the Program Committee meeting, which was held in Prague, Czech Republic in July. At the end of an all-day meeting, the Technical Program Committee selected 19 for publication and presentation at the conference. A subsequent decision resulted in a final program comprising 18 papers. The Technical Program Committee comprised 36 members, including the two TPC Co-Chairs. The TPC members were chosen for their expertise in the field and for their excellent track record on making balanced evaluations and providing thorough feedback to the authors. Just as with the submitted papers, the TPC members also were from all over the world, reflecting the significant wide-spread interest in ICN. We sincerely thank the TPC members for their dedication and hard work in reading and providing detailed feedback on the papers, and we hope the authors of all the papers would appreciate the feedback provided in the reviews to help improve their work. The resulting technical program is arranged over six sessions of paper presentations over the two days of the main conference. It is intended to give authors and attendees a chance to present and discuss new ideas and theoretical as well as experimental results in the general area of Information Centric Networking. The program covers a wide range of research topics, from network architectures, to routing, name resolution, router design and implementation, transport protocols, caching, security, and applications. The technical program is the backbone of the ICN conference. The resulting technical program is arranged over six sessions of paper presentations over the two days of the main conference. The program covers a wide range of research topics, from network architectures, to routing, name resolution, router design and implementation, transport protocols, caching, security, and applications. The technical program is the backbone of the ICN conference. The keynote speaker is Van Jacobson, who has made long-term and foundational contributions to the Internet, and who is also a very influential proponent and architect of the notion of Information Centric Networking. In addition to the main technical program, the conference includes two tutorial presentations covering important technical features of the CCN and NDN systems, respectively; an open discussion lead by a panel of experts and practitioners on the future prospects for ICN in research, applications, deployments, and also in its economic aspects; a session dedicated to posters and demos intended as a venue to present and discuss compelling initial ideas and other advances in researchand engineering for ICN, including the demonstration of concrete systems, tools, and applications. In conclusion, we worked to assemble a compelling technical program to advance and consolidate knowledge and technology in the area of Information Centric Networking. We also wanted to create a venue to support, foster, and facilitate the exchange of ideas and to grow and strengthen the ICN research community. We hope we succeeded and we hope you enjoy the conference!

Welcome to the 41st Design Automation Conference (DAC) and the technically vibrant and beautiful city of San Diego. Each year, several thousand attendees come to DAC to learn of advances and breakthroughs in electronic design methodology and Electronic Design Automation (EDA). DAC brings together a diverse community of designers, EDA developers, analysts, marketers, consultants, managers, executives, professors and students. This makes it a great meeting ground to get together with others with common interests and concerns, to learn about new developments, to meet people who use what you develop or develop what you use, to learn about emerging requirements and trends and to renew old friendships. It is an exciting and fast-paced week where your ability to exploit the many opportunities is limited only by your time.New this year in the Technical Program is Business Day at DAC, an entire day of sessions on Tuesday, which provide an in-depth examination of issues at the intersection of technology and business in our area. This bridges the traditional separation between the technical issues with their home in the technical program and business aspects on the exhibit floor. The keynote speakers this year are Patrick P. Gelsinger, Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice-President of Intel Corporation, who will explore future design and design automation challenges; and Dr. Walden C. Rhines, Chairman of the EDA Consortium and Chairman and CEO of Mentor Graphics Corporation, who will speak on the future of this industry. This year's Technical Program received a record number of 785 paper submissions. The 73 members of the technical program committee, co-chaired by Limor Fix and Andrew B. Kahng and helped by over 700 reviewers, were forced to be highly selective in distilling what promises to be one of the best programs ever. The program covers sessions in seven topic areas: Business, System Level Design and Verification, Power, Logic Design and Test, Embedded Systems, Nanometer Analysis and Simulation, and Physical/Circuit Design. In each of these areas the sessions will cover aspects of both design methodology and design tools. The Panels chair, Kurt Keutzer, and his committee have put together an exciting set of panels for the technical program as well as the DAC Pavilion on the exhibit floor. The final program consists of 163 papers in 39 sessions, 10 special sessions and 8 panels. The DAC Pavilion on the exhibit floor will host 14 additional panels. All DAC technical program attendees will receive a DVD containing the proceedings of the 41 years of DAC.Over 220 companies will be at DAC this year, over 45 of them making their debut. New on the Exhibit Floor is an integrated booth-suite layout that provides for easier one-stop interaction with the exhibitors.

THIS WEEK’S ISSUE of C&EN contains information about the 237th ACS national meeting, which will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on March 22–26. An exciting program with a major focus on nanoscience awaits attendees. As pointed out in the Feb. 16 issue (page 3), ACS national meeting and exposition preliminary and final technical programs are no longer entirely printed in C&EN. They are now available on the ACS website. In particular, this week’s issue does not contain the full listing of papers that has traditionally appeared in the magazine. The technical program summary grids, which present a listing of symposia titles and days organized by division, do appear in this issue. To access the division technical program, visit www.acs.org/saltlakecity2009 and select the “Technical Program” link on the left navigation. Welcome to the DATE 08 Conference Proceedings. DATE combines the world's favourite electronic systems design conference and Europe's leading international exhibition for electronic design, automation and test, from system level hardware and software implementation right down to integrated circuit design. The DATE 08 event features a technical program with 77 sessions covering the latest developments in system design and embedded software, IC design/test methodologies and EDA tools, together with an exhibition with the leading EDA, silicon and IP providers showing their new products and services. Challenges that you all face or soon will face in your daily practice are the increasing design complexity of highly integrated systems, the introduction of reconfigurability and embedded software, and the control of power and variability in nanometer IC designs. All these issues will be addressed in this year's DATE event. For the 11th successive year DATE has prepared an exciting technical programme, with the help of the more than 400 members of the Technical Programme Committee, who dedicated their time to thoroughly review the 839 submissions in 37 topics, ranging from system level down to circuit design and covering all the most relevant application domains. The submissions are organised in 4 major areas: D --- Design Methods, Tools, Algorithms and Languages A --- Application Design T --- Test Methods, Tools and Innovative Experiences E --- Embedded Software After a thorough review and selection process (with an average of 5 reviews per paper), finally 198 regular papers were selected for presentation at the conference. Additionally, there are 46 Interactive Presentations that are organised in 5 IP sessions. Together with the invited special sessions (panels, embedded tutorials and hot topic sessions), this has resulted in a high-quality technical program. The technical program provides a wide but high-quality coverage of design, design automation and test topics, from the system level to the integrated circuit level. Compared with previous years, submissions in the Embedded Software track has increased by 50%, showing a clear trend towards a comprehensive system design focus with integrated hardware and software solutions. DATE has established itself firmly as a true Electronic System Design Conference. This year the conference is held in Germany, at the ICM in Munich and spans an entire working week from Monday March 10 to Friday March 14. On Monday, eleven pre-conference tutorials will be given. The three-full day tutorials cover topics of great interest for system design. The first tutorial deals with techniques to automatically realising embedded system from high-level functional models. The second tutorial addresses the different issues related to communication based design and architectures in automotive electronic systems. The third tutorial discusses several key concepts on system-level design and application mapping for wireless and multimedia MPSoC architectures. Furthermore, eight half-day tutorials are also given, which cover a wide spectrum of topics on specification, modelling, design and test. The main conference opens on Tuesday March 11, with two very interesting and complementary keynote speeches. Dominique Vernay, Chief Technical Officer for Thales, will talk about the challenges of embedded systems design, and Giovanni de Micheli, Professor at EPFL, will present his views on designing micro/nano systems for a safer and healthier tomorrow. On the same day, the Executive Track offers a series of business panels with executives discussing hot topics in design: the perils of 45 nanometers, the changes in EDA strategies from IDM, to fablite to fabless, and embedded systems level design strategies. DATE 08 will again offer two specific days related to special themes. On Wednesday March 12, a special full-day track is devoted to Automotive Electronics---Software and Architecture. This special-day track will focus on the challenges faced by the automotive supply chain with particular attention to system and software architecture design. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of automotive architectures, including ECUs, sensors and communication standards and discusses how new methods, tools and standards for interoperability and component-based design can deal with the increasing complexity of software systems and their need for reliability and guaranteed timely behaviour. In addition, it addresses to what degree existing standards, including AUTOSAR and FLEXRAY and model-based development, can support the development of safety and time-critical software. On Thursday March 13, a second special full-day track focuses on Dependable Embedded Systems. This track will address both conceptual and applied issues for design, analysis and validation of dependable embedded systems. The utility of embedded systems and services is based, in large part, on our depending on their sustained functionality in spite of the encountered operational or malicious disruptions. As the number of transient and also permanent disruptions (given the decreasing device geometries, higher device density, lower voltage latching, faster clocks etc) is expected to increase substantially, this will not only be a key issue for the hardware community but also the systems community in general. Solutions using a combination of hardware and software might be more effective than hardware-only or software-only solutions. This track focuses on both conceptual and applied issues for design, analysis and validation of dependable embedded systems. Besides these special tracks, the main conference is organized in six parallel tracks of sessions, three devoted to design methods, tools, algorithms and languages, one to application design, one to test methods, tools and innovative experiences, and finally one to embedded software. The presentations of the selected regular papers in these parallel tracks are complemented by nine Special Sessions and two Invited Industrial Sessions. The special sessions are organized in the form of panels, hot topics, and embedded tutorials. The topics to be covered include quantitative evaluation for embedded systems design, design and manufacturing at 32 and 22nm, software for wireless networked embedded systems, test challenges for low power devices, quantitative productivity measurement in IC design, and 3D Integration. The two invited industrial sessions deal with industrial system designs in transportation and information technologies. To emphasise that DATE is the major event for the designers, DATE 08 features also invited sessions where Europe's famous consumer industry presents their best designs and design practices. Friday March 14 is the day for the DATE workshops. DATE 08 offers workshops on current and emerging important issues in design, test, EDA and software to complement the regular conference. They provide a unique opportunity for the various research and design communities to spend a day discussing the latest and the best, sharing their experiences and visions. This year's workshop program includes eight workshop themes. Four workshops are related to software engineering, ranging from dependable software to modelling, analysis and development tools. Four other workshop themes cover a variety of topics such as the impact of process variations on design and test, the merging world of Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems, new directions in high level synthesis, and heterogeneous reconfigurable hardware. Each workshop features presentations, invited or submitted, from highly distinguished academic and industrial researchers. Finally, throughout the conference days, DATE offers a comprehensive overview of commercial design and verification tools in its large exhibition hall. Exhibitors include EDA vendors, silicon, FPGA and IP providers showing their new products and services. In addition, there is an Exhibition Theatre featuring talks from engineering managers of the leading electronic manufacturers on first-hand design experiences of commercial EDA tools. New this year is the European projects village where different European and large government funded projects will be able to show their ongoing research and results to the design community and have the opportunity for internal meetings and discussions. The DATE week will be also an opportunity for students and universities to show their research work, through the PhD Forum on Monday evening and the University Booth where hardware and software demonstrations will be shown by different universities on a rotation schedule. The DATE 08 event's program will be particularly attractive to industrial designers, at analog, IC, FPGA and embedded system level, as well as software designers, to researchers and academics as well as to design managers, and an increasing attendance is expected. We therefore invite you to take full advantage of the many opportunities offered to you by DATE 08, to extend your knowledge and/or business in electronic system's design and to exploit the abundant networking possibilities offered to socialise with colleagues, including fringe meetings and a memorable social party with bands and dancing. We hope that you will all enjoy the DATE 08 Conference and Exhibition.

ACM Multimedia has traditionally been instrumental with its technical program to shape the field and give new directions for established conferences. Before the conference last year, the Special Interest Group on Multimedia (SIG MM) Chair Larry Rowe organized a strategic retreat to assess the current state of multimedia research and suggest directions for future research. The major observation is that research in the past decade has significantly advanced hardware and software support for distributed multimedia applications and that future research should focus on identifying and delivering applications that impact users in the real-world. The retreat suggested the community focus on solving three grand challenges: 1) make authoring complex multimedia titles as easy as using a word processor or drawing program, 2) make interactions with remote people and environments nearly the same as interactions with local people and environments, and 3) make capturing, storing, finding, and using digital media an everyday occurrence in our computing environment. We hope that the discussions and conclusions of the retreat have influenced this year's program. This year we have quite a rich technical program including long papers, short papers, technical demonstrations, video program, panels, doctoral symposium, introducing brave new topics, open software competition, and the interactive art program. We are enthusiastic about the conference keynote speech by Gordon Bell, about the new relevance for multimedia when we record everything personal -- continuously. The technical program this year introduced a double blind review process. Each of the submitted 331 full (long) papers was reviewed by three reviewers. The technical program committee met on June 19, 2004 in New York. We gratefully acknowledge the technical program committee members and reviewers (see list later in the proceedings) for their important work. The review process culminated in acceptance of 55 papers: 30 in the Multimedia analysis, processing, and retrieval track (out of 166), 12 papers in the Multimedia networking and system support track (out of 82) and 13 papers in the Multimedia tools, end-systems, and applications track (out of 83). We would like to thank technical program chairs, Rainer Lienhart, Sue Moon and Angela Sasse for their hard and dedicated work. The short paper track chairs Svetha Venkatesh and Brian Bailey did an outstanding job this year. They received a record number of 158 papers and selected 71 papers for the final program. We owe a debt of gratitude to the conference track chairs for an amazing collection of events: to Yong Rui and Jon Crowcroft for a diverse and topical offering of tutorials, to Frank Nack for chairing and getting support for the video program, to Chitra Dorai and Tat-Seng Chua for expanding the Workshops program, to Michael Vernick and Jim Griffioen for a great selection of exciting demonstrations, to Hari Sundaram and Paal Halvorsen for an engaging doctoral symposium program, to Susanne Boll for rounding up people to debate in great panel sessions. Lynn Wilcox and Dick Bulterman did a splendid job on introducing the brave new topics track and we hope that this will invigorate the quest for new areas. Great thanks to the best open-source software competition chairs Ketan Mayer-Patel and Roger Zimmermann for establishing evaluation process and promoting a rewarding and high impact practice for the entire community to share the tangible output of our research.

The analysis of the management of large scientific and technical projects is carried out. The nuclear and space projects of the USSR, the nuclear project of the USA (Manhattan project), international and Russian megascience projects, federal scientific and technical programs (FNTP) and complex scientific and technical programs and projects (KNTP) are considered. The issues of problem formulation (substantiation of the relevance of the work), allocation of resources for projects, project implementation management are analyzed. From the examples considered, megaprojects include projects that were implemented in the USSR and the USA, some international projects of the mega-science class, and individual KNTP projects. Russian mega science projects, and most of the KNP from the point of view of management should be attributed to the class of large rather than megaprojects. It is shown that federal targeted programs, federal scientific and technical programs are rather not project-based, but process-based (they represent a set of small-scale projects that are not aimed at a common practical result), therefore they should be considered in the appropriate management logic.

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 2004 First International Symposium on Control, Communications and Signal Processing. Nowadays, most of the scientific and technical meetings are so focused in some field that wider interaction is nearly lost. One of the motivations and aims of ISCCSP is to gather together scientists, researchers and engineers from different but related fields of electrical and computer engineering so as to increase multidisciplinary exposure. To this aim, we are honored and grateful to have six world experts giving an invited talk in their areas of expertise. It is rare to gather this number of fine experts in a single conference these days. The talks are scheduled as plenary talks to allow all attendees to be present. To further enhance the technical program, we organized invited special sessions in each track of the Symposium. We have 4 special sessions in the Control Track, 6 in the Communications Track and 4 in the Signal Processing Track. All accepted regular submissions are organized in poster sessions in order to increase interactions between the researchers. A total of 218 papers are included in the Technical Program, 74 of which are included in 14 invited special sessions; while the rest are organized in 15 regular sessions. We would like to express our appreciation to the Honorary Chair Prof. Slaheddine Gherissi and the General CoChair Prof. Sanjit Mitra for founding the Symposium. Special thanks are due to the Symposium Special Session Track Chairs, Prof. Mustafa Khammash, Ali Sayed and Urbashi Mitra for their efforts and time in organizing the special sessions. We would also like to thank the 16 special session chairs (2 of the sessions have two co-chairs, each) for organizing and chairing these sessions. Thanks to all authors and attendees of ISCCSP 2004. Finally, special thanks are due to SuviSoft Oy Team, especially, Aytac, Tuija and Inna, for their hard and professional work in handling the on-line conference management system and producing the publications. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the Symposium and that you find the technical program interesting. Enjoy your stay in Tunisia and discover Hammamet, Carthage, Kairouan, El Jem, Matmata and Douz!

ICCAD continues to be the premier conference devoted to technical innovations in design automation. ICCAD's program of technical papers, tutorials, panels, and keynote highlights the most important current and future research challenges. A day of workshops on hot topics caps a week of non-stop technical excitement. And as always, a large number of side meetings and social events provide plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting colleagues and friends. This year's ICCAD starts on Monday, November 7 and continues through Wednesday, November 9. You will find up-to-date details on the conference website http://www.iccad.com. The core of ICCAD has always been the contributed research paper program. We received 349 worldwide submissions and the technical program committee, after careful deliberation, selected 106 excellent papers for presentation. These papers are split into 26 sessions over the three days of the technical program. In parallel with the technical program of submitted papers, ICCAD 2011 features a full track of invited, tutorial, and special sessions. These sessions, given by world experts, are an excellent opportunity for updating your knowledge in state-of-the-art and emerging areas. Two Designer Perspective sessions highlight contemporary needs and gaps in EDA tools. This year we resume the traditional ICCAD panel series, exploring future EDA trends on Monday evening, and continuing discussion of the impact of parallel computation on Wednesday afternoon. ICCAD continues to host one-day topical workshops providing focused coverage of topics of emerging and current interest. This year, four workshops, on lithography, variability modeling/characterization, constraints in formal verification and adaptive power management will take place on Thursday, November 10. This year's CANDE workshop will also be co-located with ICCAD in San Jose, and held in parallel with ICCAD workshops on Thursday, November 10. Finally, ICCAD 2011 is privileged to have a keynote address from Dr. Georg Sigl of Technische Univ. Munchen. Prof. Sigl will provide unique insights into the design of secure hardware systems, and ask what role EDA will play in the design of future secure systems.

On behalf of the Technical Program Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 9th ACM International Symposium on Mobility Management and Wireless Access - MobiWac '11 at Miami Beach, FL, USA. Following the successful previous events in Fort Worth (TX), Philadelphia (PA), Maui (Hawaii), Torremolinos (Spain), Chania (Greece) and Bodrum (Turkey), this year's symposium was created to advance our knowledge in mobility and wireless access, including models, systems, applications, and theory. The mission of the symposium is to share novel mobility management and wireless network solutions and identify new directions for future research and development. A number of people have contributed, creating a strong technical program. First of all, the call for papers attracted 58 submissions from Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe and North /South America. Second, a number of researchers served on the MobiWac'11 Technical Program Committee. They helped to evaluate paper submissions in a rigorous and fair, yet timely, manner and contributed significantly to the strength of the technical program. Technical program - Table of contents

A program is proposed for the ground demonstration, development, and flight qualification of a radioisotope nuclear heated dynamic power system for use on space missions beginning in the 1980's. This type of electrical power system is based upon and combines two aerospace technologies currently under intense development; namely, the MHW isotope heat source and the closed Brayton cycle gas turbine. This power system represents the next generation of reliable, efficient economic electrical power equipment for space, and will be capable of providing 0.5 to 2.0 kW of electric power to a wide variety of spacecraft for earth orbital and interplanetary missions. The immediate design will be based upon the requirements for the Air Force SURVSATCOM mission. The proposal is presented in three volumes plus an Executive Summary. This volume describes the tasks in the technical program.

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2011 Internet Measurement Conference - IMC'11. What started in 2001 as a small workshop, organized by a handful of dedicated individuals and sponsored by ACM SIGCOMM, has quickly grown into the premier venue for the dissemination of measurement-driven networking research. In putting together this year's program, we explicitly tried (with varying degrees of success) to uphold IMC's best traditions - encouraging reappraisal of previous results, fostering papers that assess emerging uses (or mis-uses) of the Internet, and promoting the development of innovative new methodologies for increasing our understanding of the Internet and related networked communication systems. As in the recent past, the program consists of a mix of short and long papers to encourage both early exposure to new ideas and deep treatment of topics. The following IMC "facts and firsts" are all signs of a vibrant and thriving community. This year we received a record submission of 221 papers (111 long and 110 short papers). This represents an increase of 5% over 2010 and is comparable to the total number of submissions received by the annual ACM SIGCOMM Conference. The technical program was chosen by a highly skilled and dedicated program committee (PC) of 34 researchers from academia and industry and is the outcome of a thorough reviewing process. During the first round of this process, each paper received three reviews. The resulting 100 or so most competitive submissions received two additional reviews during a second round, after which some 64 papers were chosen to be discussed for inclusion in the final program at the PC meeting, held at the Shannon Laboratory at AT&T Labs-Research in Florham Park, NJ, on July 22, 2011. This meeting was attended by all but five PC members and resulted in 42 accepted papers (28 long and 14 short papers) that will be presented as part of this year's three-day conference in Berlin. Paper notifications were emailed within hours of the end of the PC meeting. To increase the transparency and accountability of the IMC reviewing process, IMC'11 performed a first-of-its-kind reviewing experiment whereby authors of accepted papers were given a choice to have the significant (verbatim) portions of the reviews that their papers received during the reviewing process (together with a short response from the authors) published alongside the final version of their papers. With the full backing of the IMC's steering committee and the enthusiastic support of the entire PC for this experiment, we are happy to inform you that all but one set of authors opted for participating in this experiment. As a result, readers of this year's IMC Proceedings have a unique opportunity to see the IMC reviewing process "in action" and we hope that this level of transparency provides some useful insight into how IMC reviewers assess the relevance or importance of work in this area while remaining anonymous. IMC is considering adopting this experimental reviewing process as a new standard, so we would greatly appreciate any feedback in any form from readers, authors, or PC members about their views or experience with this approach to improving transparency and accountability. Separate from the technical program, IMC'11 will also experiment with a new one-hour "News and Community Feedback Session". The session will consist of short presentations or announcements on topics that are relevant to the IMC audience and is intended to "take the pulse" of the community in terms of efforts, activities and topics that should be encouraged to maintain a vibrant community engaged in relevant and cutting-edge measurement-driven networking research.

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 8th ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Health Informatics (ACM-BCB 2017). The meeting is the flagship conference of SIGBio, the ACM Special Interest Group in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Informatics. Continuing the tradition, the conference focuses on interdisciplinary research linking computer science, mathematics, statistics, biology, bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, and health informatics. With the help of numerous volunteers but most importantly with the contributions of many researchers like yourself we have put together a program that we hope that everyone will find very interesting and stimulating. The technical program is the centerpiece of our meeting with 42 peer-reviewed full research papers and 28 short research papers, carefully selected from the 132 original submissions to the conference by diligent efforts of the members of program committee. Additionally, we have approximately 60 poster presentations and eight highlights presentations on recently published research. The technical program is enriched by six pre-conference workshops, four tutorials and featured sessions such as the NSF Travel Fellowship Awardee Forum and a panel on Women in Bioinformatics. We are also pleased that the Workshop on Algorithms in Bioinformatics (WABI) is colocated with ACM-BCB this year and will be sharing plenary talks and running parallel sessions alongside ACM BCB.
