Purpose As organizations increasingly adopt data-driven technologies to support fast, reliable and predictive workforce decisions, human resource analytics (HRA) has emerged as a critical enabler of strategic human resource management (HRM). Despite its growing importance, there remains a lack of conceptual clarity on how to systematically develop HRA capabilities within organizations. This study seeks to address this gap by identifying the key components required to build robust HRA capability architecture. Design/methodology/approach Grounded in the theoretical lens of the capabilities-based view (CBV) this study employs a systematic literature review and thematic analysis of 198 peer-reviewed research articles to extract patterns and themes related to the development of HRA capabilities. Findings The analysis revealed four overarching capability dimensions essential for building an HRA capability architecture: business assimilation capability, data management capability, organizational process capability and analytical capability. These are further unpacked into 11 sub-themes, including the role of HRA, goals of HRA, human resource (HR) data, determinants of HRA, applications of HRA, level of analysis in HRA, HRA techniques, competencies for HRA, use of information technology (IT) tools, challenges of HRA and stakeholders of HRA. Research limitations/implications This study advances the theoretical understanding of HR analytics by adopting the CBV to conceptualize the architecture required for HRA capability development in organizations. Practical implications Organizations seeking to develop robust HRA functions can benefit from the comprehensive capability framework proposed in this study. The four dimensions – business assimilation, data management, organizational process and analytical capability – serve as actionable pillars for designing HRA initiatives. HR leaders and analytics practitioners can use the 11 sub-themes as a diagnostic tool to assess maturity, identify capability gaps and align HRA investments with strategic business objectives. The framework also assists in integrating IT tools, developing analytics talent and navigating implementation challenges. It promotes a structured approach to embedding analytics in HR decision-making processes across diverse organizational contexts. Social implications By enhancing HRA capabilities, organizations can foster more equitable, transparent and data-driven HR practices that benefit employees and stakeholders alike. Improved analytics can support fair hiring, inclusive workforce planning, and objective performance management. Moreover, the framework emphasizes stakeholder engagement, highlighting the social dynamics necessary for successful HRA integration. This approach supports the ethical deployment of people analytics, ensuring that technological advancements in HR serve human-centered outcomes rather than solely organizational efficiency. Originality/value This research offers a novel and comprehensive HRA capability architecture grounded in a CBV, filling a crucial gap in both academic and practitioner-oriented literature. The framework provides a unifying structure to guide both theoretical inquiry and practical implementation, marking a significant step toward institutionalizing analytics within HRM. Its relevance extends to organizations navigating digital transformation, offering a strategic roadmap for embedding analytics into human capital decision-making processes.

Over the last decade, human resource (HR) analytics has been widely discussed in the landscape of human resource management due to its dynamic capacity to transform into a data-driven decision-making system for optimizing workforce management. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive summary of the emerging trends and themes of HR analytics drawn from previous literature and offer valuable insight into academia, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. This paper employs a bibliometric methodology while using RStudio, Biblioshiny, and VOSviewer tools to collect and analyze 102 articles from the Scopus database from January 2008 to September 2023. The findings of the paper reveal current state-of-the-art research in the HR analytics domain while exploring key themes and areas for further study. This study offers practical guidelines for policymakers and contributes to the existing knowledge domain of HR analytics.

One of the main issues discussed in today’s dynamic world is talent acquisition. Matching job seekers with the right job is considered one of the main concerns for HR managers. Human Resource Analytics has proven its importance in talent acquisition. Implementing Human resource analytics in the management of personnel has many advantages. HR analytics is necessary to have a competitive talent pool and a competitive edge. Most previous studies have confirmed that talented personnel are pivotal for achieving high organizational performance levels. This study aimed at identifying the potential impact of implementing HR analytics on the relationship between talent acquisition and the performance of the corporation. The design of this study is exploratory research design. The analysis of the literature has pointed to how frequently HR analytics is utilized to improve hiring and organizational performance. Analysis of the results of this study shows that implementing HR analytics impacts the association between talent acquisition and the performance of the firm. Deploying the Knowledge-based view and the Dynamic Capabilities View as the theoretical framework, three hypotheses were formulated. Regression analysis and Haye’s Process Model were used to test the hypotheses and results showed that talent acquisition is positively related to organizational performance, human resource analytics is significantly linked to the organizational performance, and HRA mediates the relationship between talent acquisition and organizational performance. The benefits of employing HR analytics were highlighted in this study notably in terms of improving organizational performance. The results gave some insights on the level of adoption of human resource analytics for enhancing the hiring process in organizations operating in Lebanon. Finally, the study addressed a gap in the literature regarding the significance of HR analytics adoption in Lebanese businesses.

People analytics refers to the systematic and scientific process of applying quantitative or qualitative data analysis methods to derive insights that shape and inform employee-related business decisions and performance. More specifically, people analytics can be described as the process of collecting, analyzing, and reporting people-related data for the purpose of improving decision making, achieving strategic objectives, and sustaining a competitive advantage. Digital transformation in the Society 5.0 era requires organizations to manage human resources (HR) adaptively through the use of technology, one of which is Digital Human Resource (HR) Analytics. HR analytics enables organizations to make data-driven decisions on employee performance, turnover, and development, but its effectiveness is highly dependent on the digital competence of the employees. This study aims to analyze the influence of Digital HR Analytics and digital competence on employee productivity within the context of Indonesian organizations. Using a quantitative approach, the study measures the relationship of these two independent variables on employee productivity through a survey of a number of purposively selected respondents. The findings show that Digital HR Analytics contributes significantly to increasing productivity, consistent with evidence-based decision-making theory, while employees' digital competence is proven to strengthen the utilization of the analysis results. This finding confirms that digital literacy not only involves technical skills but also the ability to adapt, collaborate, and be aware of data security. Theoretically, this study enriches the literature on contemporary public administration and HR management by integrating two important variables that have previously been studied more in isolation. Practically, the results provide recommendations for organizations to invest in HR analytics technology while also enhancing the digital capacity of their employees through continuous training, so that productivity can be optimally increased.

This chapter attempts to improve the understanding of how HR professionals can add value to decision making and improve business performance. We discuss human resource management (HRM ) practices , also known as high-performance work practices (HPWPs), and the role of human resource information systems (HRIS) and human resource analytics (HRA) in executing HR practices and workforce-related decision making. Based on our summary of the latest research, our findings suggest that where HRIS software can facilitate more efficient execution of HR processes by increasing the availability and delivery of HR information, HRA can enable the creation of novel insight into the impact of executed HR development initiatives, but can also identify new opportunities to improve the performance of key business activities. By starting from the identification of a business problem and then deploying appropriate descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive HR metrics and analytics to assist in solving the business problem, we find that HR professionals can create a level of value as yet discovered in but a few organizations.

This study aims to analyze the effect of Human Resource Analytics on the effectiveness of human resource management at the Sorong Regency Environmental Service Office, with data-based decision making as an intervening variable. This research uses quantitative methods with an explanatory approach. The study population was all employees of the Environmental Service Office of Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua Province, which obtained a sample of 110 respondents with purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire with a Likert scale of 1-5, and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The results showed that: (1) Human Resource Analytics has a positive and significant effect on HR management effectiveness; (2) Human Resource Analytics has a positive and significant effect on data-based decision making; (3) data-based decision making has a positive and significant effect on HR management effectiveness; and (4) Human Resource Analytics has an indirect effect on HR management effectiveness through data-based decision making as an intervening variable. These findings strengthen the evidence-based theory of HRM and confirm the importance of utilizing HR analytics to support the effectiveness of employee management in the public sector. .

Historically, Human Resource Management (HRM) predominantly operated within the realm of administrative functions, predominantly influenced by historical knowledge and intuitive practices. However, the paradigm shift towards evidence-based management practices, spearheaded by luminaries such as Pfeffer, Sutton, and Briner, underscored the imperative of leveraging data-supported evidence to underpin HRM decision-making processes. This evolution heralded increased investments in HR analytics, empowering organizations to craft decisions rooted in pragmatism, value addition, and sustainability. Consequently, the study illuminates the pivotal evolution of HR analytics as an indispensable cornerstone in nurturing evidence-centric HRM practices, bolstering organizational competitiveness, and orchestrating streamlined administrative procedures.

Digitalisation of human resources (hereinafter referred to as HR) analytics can become a key factor in the innovative development of companies in a dynamically developing competitive environment, but there are no systemic vision and understanding of the essence and mechanisms of functioning of digital HR analytics systems, no ways and methods of their integration into real business processes. The purposes of the article are a comprehensive study of the role of digitalisation in the process under study, innovative approaches to personnel management, the development of a comprehensive scheme for assessing the effectiveness of digital HR analytics systems, and the proposal approaches to data visualisation that facilitate the adoption of informed management decisions. The key technologies necessary for the implementation of digital HR analytics and the problems that arise, such as data fragmentation and lack of qualified specialists, are described. Successful cases of using digital HR analytics to improve the efficiency of personnel management are considered, including the experience of Google. It is shown that digitalisation of HR analytics is a powerful tool for qualitatively improving personnel management processes and increasing the level of management decisions. Future research directions should be aimed at expanding the capabilities of artificial intelligence, strengthening the human-centric approach and adapting to new work formats to achieve greater efficiency of HR processes.

The industry of information technology in India includes the following services namely IT and software services, IT enabled services, hardware (engineering) services, and e-businesses/e-governance associated with government services. IT services are outsourcing of software support/installation, processing services, systems integration, exports of products and services, and training/education of the information technology science. The significant improvements in the industry have brought about a vital need for systematic process of managing the majority of employees in the IT industry. There was also a need created for technology in the subject matter of managing the employees and other aspects that came into picture. Hence, Innovative Human Resource practices came into existence for upgrading the skills and building the employees to work towards the goal of the organization. This gave birth to HR technology, Employee Engagement, ERP and so on. The study focuses on identifying various applications of Innovative Human resource practices in IT industry, the role of demographics and the factors influencing employee engagement and productivity. The study also analyzes the impact of innovative human resource practices on employee engagement and productivity and finally examines the mediating role of employee engagement upon the relationship between innovative human resource practices and employee productivity. To support the study, review of the relevant literature (Books, Research thesis and research papers) available in the innovative human resource practices space (both Global and Indian) was done. The research gap was identified in 4 categories i.e. empirical gap, evidence gap, methodological gap and population gap. The conceptual framework for the study was also designed. The literature review was categorized into national and international, theoretical and empirical to keep the study relevant according to the current global standards. Based on the research gap and the conceptual framework, the questionnaire was framed and according to the hypothesis the plan of analysis was structured to further the study. The data collection was completed through offline and online method, based on sample design. The analysis included Structural Equation Model, ANOVA, Independent t test and Mediation analysis – Andrew Hayes, Model 4 using SPSS and AMOS software. The study found out that HR Technology, HR Analytics, Collaboration Tools, AI in HR and Employee Pulse survey, are contributors to Innovative Human resource practices but there is no significant impact of demographic variables on perception of IHRM. Also, Employee retention, Reward and recognition, Personality development and Performance appraisal are factors influencing Employee engagement and Innovative work system, Employee contribution, Vigour, Dedication, Psychological factors, Motivational factors, Experience Factors and Individual capacity are factors influencing Employee Productivity. IHRM has significant impact on employee engagement and the employee productivity. Employee engagement mediates the relationship between IHRM and employee productivity. To conclude, this study provides insights into how employees are affected by innovative HR practices and provides practical solutions for organizations looking to encourage staff. By using motivational strategies that are directly tied to employees’ immediate interests and that are intended to affect their views and attitudes, innovative HR practices can assist firms in projecting a sense of employee engagement. Employees are further encouraged to be selfless and altruistic by the degrees of perceived satisfaction with the creative HR methods. As a result, they become more open to doing tasks that aren’t directly relevant to their professions but nevertheless helpful to their businesses. This would increase the efficiency of enterprises in managing their human resources, particularly those businesses that are team-based.
