Machine Learning Based Sentiment Analysis on Spanish Financial Tweets

Sentiment refers to emotions. Sentiment analysis, often known as opinion mining, is the technique of identifying and extracting subjective data from pre-web and post-web reviews using text analytics, computational linguistics, and natural language processing. Hindi is an Indian language which is used by many of Indians. Due to phenomenal growth of online product reviews in Hindi post-web Hindi reviews are also increasing rapidly. A machine learning based method in this paper to analysis postweb text data. The present method is divided into four steps. First of all, an annotated Hindi review data set is developed from post-web sources. In second step, feature extraction is performed on annotated Hindi review dataset using the Term-Frequency/ Inverse-Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and count vectorization techniques. In the third step, the retrieved features are given to the classifier so it can make predictions. Moreover, annotated dataset translated into English. Second step and third step are performed on annotated English dataset in last step. A range of evaluation criteria, including precision, recall, and F1- score, are presented in the results. In both instances, the support vector machine produced the most pertinent results.

Since trading has been transformed into online platforms, marketing strategies have adapted to digital systems in order to enhance the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in the E-commerce era. E-commerce systems are the most widely used digital platforms where customer information including personal, and behavioral information, flows as a big data stream. Conducting business intelligent observation on digital big data assists to improve digital marketing policy through the customer intention prediction, decision-making to advertise based on the target group clustering, and customer assist recommendation. To discover the business intelligent, sentiment analysis technology can assist as a solution to understand the customer behavior through the opinion mining where the natural language processing, text analysis, computational linguistics, and biometrics are conducted to analysis the customer information and feedbacks, for smart digital marketing applications. This research observes the applications of sentiment analysis in E-commerce systems as a comprehensive study, and the critical role of discovering business intelligent for smart digital marketing in E-commerce platforms is pointed out according to the technical perspective. Furthermore, the concept of a business intelligent framework integrated with the modelling of decision-making, prediction, and recommendation systems using the contribution of hybrid feature selection which is based on rule-based and machine learning-based sentiment analysis, is proposed for the future innovative smart digital marketing trend.

Machine learning techniques have long been the foundations of speech processing. Bayesian classiflcation, decision trees, unsupervised clustering, the EM algorithm, maximum entropy, etc. are all part of existing speech recognition systems. The success of statistical speech recognition has led to the rise of statistical and empirical methods in natural language processing. Indeed, many of the machine learning techniques used in language processing, from statistical part-of-speech tagging to the noisy channel model for machine translation have roots in work conducted in the speech fleld. However, advances in learning theory and algorithmic machine learning approaches in recent years have led to signiflcant changes in the direction and emphasis of the statistical and learning centered research in natural language processing and made a mark on natural language and speech processing. Approaches such as memory based learning, a range of linear classiflers such as Boosting, SVMs and SNoW and others have been successfully applied to a broad range of natural language problems, and these now inspire new research in speech retrieval and recognition. We have seen an increasingly close collaboration between voice and language processing researchers in some of the shared tasks such as spontaneous speech recognition and understanding, voice data information extraction, and machine translation. The purpose of this special issue was to invite speech and language researchers to communicate with each other, and with the machine learning community on the latest machine learning advances in their work. The call for papers was met with great enthusiasm from the speech and natural language community. Thirty six submissions were received; each paper was reviewed by at least three reviewers. This chapter discusses the concept of natural language processing (NLP), specifically how the NLP is applied. The chapter further outlines the typical functions of the NLP. In addition, it explores the NLP in strategy and strategy implementation.The NLP is a branch of computer science, AI and linguistics that focuses on the interaction between computer programs and human language. There are three functions of the NLP, namely, machine translation (MT), text summarisation and sentiment analysis (SA). MT is a branch of computer linguistics that analyses the use of computerised tools to translate the context derived from this, from one language to the next. The language that is being translated is the human language.Automatic text summarisation refers to a process of bringing about a succinct and meaningful summary of the text. SA is a way of finding out the polarity or strength of the opinion that is expressed in written text. The opinion could be either positive or negative. MT has three major approaches, namely, rule-based MT, statistical MT and neural MT. A rule-based system would typically require the expert to know both the source and the target languages. This knowledge is then used to develop syntactic, semantic and morphological rules to achieve the translation. The statistical approach uses statistical models based on the analysis of bilingual text corpora. The neural MT approach uses neural networks to achieve machine translation. There are two broad categories of text summarisation approaches, namely, extractive summarisation and abstractive summarisation. Furthermore, there are four popular types of SA, namely, the fine-grained SA, emotion detection, aspect-based SA and multilingual SA. The firm that deploys the NLP and ML in Big Data Analytics would gain crucial and better insights, setting the firm apart from its competitors.

The rapid growth of social networks allows users to express their views on various topics, significantly impacting Sentiment Analysis (SA) in Natural Language Processing (NLP). SA extracts valuable insights and aids decision-making based on public sentiment in various domains, particularly education. In other words, Arabic Sentiment Analysis (ASA) improves educational outcomes by assessing students’ learning progress and monitoring their performance. SA faces challenges with the Arabic language due to its dialects and complex morphology. Deep Learning (DL) models, especially Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), have advanced SA by effectively capturing relevant features, outperforming traditional Machine Learning (ML) algorithms. This paper assesses FastText word embedding with a CNN-based model for Arabic Sentiment Analysis (ASA). Our results show that the CNN model with FastText achieves strong performance in both datasets, with higher classification accuracy in the first dataset compared to the second. Which confirms the effectiveness of this proposed model to evaluate website and MOOC content by measuring learner satisfaction through forum interactions and module evaluations.

Automated sentimental analysis using heuristic-based CNN-BiLSTM for E-commerce dataset

In the past decades, sentiment analysis has become one of the most active research areas in natural language processing, data mining, web mining, and information retrieval. The great demand in everyday life and the factor of novelty coupled with the availability of data from social networks have served as strong motivation for research on sentiment-analysis. A number of technical problems, most of which had not been attempted before, either in the NLP or linguistics communities have also generated strong research interests in academia. Sentiment analysis, also called opin-ion mining, is the field of study that analyzes people’s opinions, sentiments, apprais-als, attitudes, and emotions toward entities and their attributes expressed in written text. The entities can be products, services, organizations, individuals, events, issues, or topics. The field represents a large problem space. It improves not only the field of natural language processing but also management, political science, economics, and sociology because all these areas are related to the thoughts of consumers and public. User-generated content is full of opinions, because the main reason why people post messages on social media platforms is to express their views and opinions, and therefore sentiment analysis is at the centre of social media analysis. It turned out that user messages often contain plenty of sarcastic expressions and ambiguous words. Within one opinion both positive and negative sentiments can be present. This also applies to negative particles, which do not always indicate a negative tone. This article investigates four challenges faced by researchers while conducting sentiment analysis, namely: sarcasm, negation, word ambiguity, and multipolarity. These aspects significantly affect the accuracy of the results when we determine a sentiment. Modern approaches to solving the problem are also covered. These are mainly machine learning methods, such as convolutional neural networks (CNN), deep neural networks (DNN), long short-term memory (LTSM), recurrent neural network (RNN), support vector machines (SVM), etc.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyze topics as alternative features for sentiment analysis in Indonesian tweets.Design/methodology/approachGiven Indonesian tweets, the processes of sentiment analysis start by extracting features from the tweets. The features are words or topics. The authors use non-negative matrix factorization to extract the topics and apply a support vector machine to classify the tweets into its sentiment class.FindingsThe authors analyze the accuracy using the two-class and three-class sentiment analysis data sets. Both data sets are about sentiments of candidates for Indonesian presidential election. The experiments show that the standard word features give better accuracies than the topics features for the two-class sentiment analysis. Moreover, the topic features can slightly improve the accuracy of the standard word features. The topic features can also improve the accuracy of the standard word features for the three-class sentiment analysis.Originality/valueThe standard textual data representation for sentiment analysis using machine learning is bag of word and its extensions mainly created by natural language processing. This paper applies topics as novel features for the machine learning-based sentiment analysis in Indonesian tweets.

BackgroundQualitative research methods are increasingly being used across disciplines because of their ability to help investigators understand the perspectives of participants in their own words. However, qualitative analysis is a laborious and resource-intensive process. To achieve depth, researchers are limited to smaller sample sizes when analyzing text data. One potential method to address this concern is natural language processing (NLP). Qualitative text analysis involves researchers reading data, assigning code labels, and iteratively developing findings; NLP has the potential to automate part of this process. Unfortunately, little methodological research has been done to compare automatic coding using NLP techniques and qualitative coding, which is critical to establish the viability of NLP as a useful, rigorous analysis procedure.ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to compare the utility of a traditional qualitative text analysis, an NLP analysis, and an augmented approach that combines qualitative and NLP methods.MethodsWe conducted a 2-arm cross-over experiment to compare qualitative and NLP approaches to analyze data generated through 2 text (short message service) message survey questions, one about prescription drugs and the other about police interactions, sent to youth aged 14-24 years. We randomly assigned a question to each of the 2 experienced qualitative analysis teams for independent coding and analysis before receiving NLP results. A third team separately conducted NLP analysis of the same 2 questions. We examined the results of our analyses to compare (1) the similarity of findings derived, (2) the quality of inferences generated, and (3) the time spent in analysis.ResultsThe qualitative-only analysis for the drug question (n=58) yielded 4 major findings, whereas the NLP analysis yielded 3 findings that missed contextual elements. The qualitative and NLP-augmented analysis was the most comprehensive. For the police question (n=68), the qualitative-only analysis yielded 4 primary findings and the NLP-only analysis yielded 4 slightly different findings. Again, the augmented qualitative and NLP analysis was the most comprehensive and produced the highest quality inferences, increasing our depth of understanding (ie, details and frequencies). In terms of time, the NLP-only approach was quicker than the qualitative-only approach for the drug (120 vs 270 minutes) and police (40 vs 270 minutes) questions. An approach beginning with qualitative analysis followed by qualitative- or NLP-augmented analysis took longer time than that beginning with NLP for both drug (450 vs 240 minutes) and police (390 vs 220 minutes) questions.ConclusionsNLP provides both a foundation to code qualitatively more quickly and a method to validate qualitative findings. NLP methods were able to identify major themes found with traditional qualitative analysis but were not useful in identifying nuances. Traditional qualitative text analysis added important details and context.

Opinion Mining and Sentiment Analysis in Natural Language Processing (NLP) are challenging, as they require deep understanding. Understanding involves methods that could differentiate between the facts of explicit and implicit, regular and irregular, syntactical and semantic language rules. Researches oriented towards Natural Language Processing and Sentiment Analysis have many unresolved problems like co-reference resolution, negation handling, anaphora resolution, named-entity recognition, and word-sense disambiguation. This paper is proposed to develop an Optimized Partial Ancestral Graph (O-PAG) which is capable of mining patterns in human interactions and compare it with an existing tree based pattern mining approach. The experimental results are exposed to number of frequent interactions made and execution time. Results indicate that the overall performance can reach considerable improvements on using O-PAG approach.

BackgroundAs one of the serious public health issues, vaccination refusal has been attracting more and more attention, especially for newly approved human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. Understanding public opinion towards HPV vaccines, especially concerns on social media, is of significant importance for HPV vaccination promotion.MethodsIn this study, we leveraged a hierarchical machine learning based sentiment analysis system to extract public opinions towards HPV vaccines from Twitter. English tweets containing HPV vaccines-related keywords were collected from November 2, 2015 to March 28, 2016. Manual annotation was done to evaluate the performance of the system on the unannotated tweets corpus. Followed time series analysis was applied to this corpus to track the trends of machine-deduced sentiments and their associations with different days of the week.ResultsThe evaluation of the unannotated tweets corpus showed that the micro-averaging F scores have reached 0.786. The learning system deduced the sentiment labels for 184,214 tweets in the collected unannotated tweets corpus. Time series analysis identified a coincidence between mainstream outcome and Twitter contents. A weak trend was found for “Negative” tweets that decreased firstly and began to increase later; an opposite trend was identified for “Positive” tweets. Tweets that contain the worries on efficacy for HPV vaccines showed a relative significant decreasing trend. Strong associations were found between some sentiments (“Positive”, “Negative”, “Negative-Safety” and “Negative-Others”) with different days of the week.ConclusionsOur efforts on sentiment analysis for newly approved HPV vaccines provide us an automatic and instant way to extract public opinion and understand the concerns on Twitter. Our approaches can provide a feedback to public health professionals to monitor online public response, examine the effectiveness of their HPV vaccination promotion strategies and adjust their promotion plans.

Now-a-days, Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter etc. are becoming more and more popular to express feelings and thoughts. People not only share their happy moments on these platforms but also share their feelings when they are extremely depressed. Analyzing these social media posts, one’s mental condition can be detected whether he/she is happy, sad or angry at a particular time using sentiment analysis in natural language processing. Most of the research in this field is based on English language and the accuracy of sentiment analysis from Bengali language is not very high. So, our purpose is to work on this field using Bengali dataset collected from different social media posts and make the sentiment detection more accurate so that this work can be used to build a system that can be used in the mental health sector of our country. In this research, we have first collected social media data. After applying different data preprocessing techniques, we have made a number of feature selection and extraction combinations. We have applied some basic and advanced machine learning and deep learning algorithms on each of these to find the best combination and algorithm by monitoring the highest achieved accuracy.

BackgroundPatients use social media as an alternative information source, where they share information and provide social support. Although large amounts of health-related data are posted on Twitter and other social networking platforms each day, research using social media data to understand chronic conditions and patients’ lifestyles is limited.ObjectiveIn this study, we contributed to closing this gap by providing a framework for identifying patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on Twitter and learning from their personal experiences. We enabled the analysis of patients’ tweets by building a classifier of Twitter users that distinguishes patients from other entities. This study aimed to uncover the potential of using Twitter data to promote the well-being of patients with IBD by relying on the wisdom of the crowd to identify healthy lifestyles. We sought to leverage posts describing patients’ daily activities and their influence on their well-being to characterize lifestyle-related treatments.MethodsIn the first stage of the study, a machine learning method combining social network analysis and natural language processing was used to automatically classify users as patients or not. We considered 3 types of features: the user’s behavior on Twitter, the content of the user’s tweets, and the social structure of the user’s network. We compared the performances of several classification algorithms within 2 classification approaches. One classified each tweet and deduced the user’s class from their tweet-level classification. The other aggregated tweet-level features to user-level features and classified the users themselves. Different classification algorithms were examined and compared using 4 measures: precision, recall, F1 score, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. In the second stage, a classifier from the first stage was used to collect patients' tweets describing the different lifestyles patients adopt to deal with their disease. Using IBM Watson Service for entity sentiment analysis, we calculated the average sentiment of 420 lifestyle-related words that patients with IBD use when describing their daily routine.ResultsBoth classification approaches showed promising results. Although the precision rates were slightly higher for the tweet-level approach, the recall and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the user-level approach were significantly better. Sentiment analysis of tweets written by patients with IBD identified frequently mentioned lifestyles and their influence on patients’ well-being. The findings reinforced what is known about suitable nutrition for IBD as several foods known to cause inflammation were pointed out in negative sentiment, whereas relaxing activities and anti-inflammatory foods surfaced in a positive context.ConclusionsThis study suggests a pipeline for identifying patients with IBD on Twitter and collecting their tweets to analyze the experimental knowledge they share. These methods can be adapted to other diseases and enhance medical research on chronic conditions.

This research explored Korean EFL learners’ perspectives towards three different media modes in collaborative writing on Google Docs. To examine this, the study utilized sentiment analysis and word frequency in natural language processing (NLP). The results suggest how media modes can be effectively deployed in collaborative English writing.
