Developing a virtualized network service does not only involve the implementation and configuration of the network functions it is composed of but also its integration and test with management solutions that will control the service in its production environment. These integration tasks require testbeds that offer the needed network function virtualization infrastructure (NFVI), like OpenStack, introducing a lot of management and maintenance overheads. Such testbed setups become even more complicated when the multi point-of-presence (PoP) case, with multiple infrastructure installations, is considered. In this demo, we showcase an emulation platform that executes containerized network services in user-defined multi-PoP topologies. The platform does not only allow network service developers to locally test their services but also to connect realworld management and orchestration solutions to the emulated PoPs. During our interactive demonstration we focus on the integration between the emulated infrastructure and state-of-theart orchestration solutions like SONATA or OSM.

The main purpose of this chapter is to examine the utilization of management solutions in non-profit organizations in Slovenia and compare their utilization with utilization of solutions in profit oriented organizations. We used 357 answers from employees in Slovenian organizations, where 58 answers were from employees in non-profit organizations. The results reveal that examined management solutions are on average in non-profit organizations less used than in the profit oriented organizations. Significantly less used are for instance benchmarking, customer relationship management, mission and vision statements, balanced score card and shared service centers. In terms of the frequency of management solutions utilization, outsourcing, core competencies and strategic planning are most frequently used in non-profit organizations, and benchmarking, mission and vision statements and outsourcing in profit oriented organizations. At the end the paper outlines management solutions, which have potential to bring substantial benefits for improvement of non-profit organizations' working.

Autonomous mowers are battery-powered machines designed to mow turfgrass autonomously and continuously improving turfgrass quality and helping the person who takes care of the turf to save time and energy. However, autonomous mowers work in a way that sometimes does not match with the greenspace’s design. The aim of this study was to analyze greenspace features that can be a hindrance for autonomous mowers in order to provide greenspaces design suggestions and management solutions when using an autonomous mowing system. Seven greenspaces managed by autonomous mowers ranging from 200–9000 m2 were selected and studied. Interviews with the owners and on-site inspections were carried out to understand if manual interventions were required and to identify local plant communities. The results of the interviews showed that manual finishing work such as mowing grass along curbs and walls was needed in all the cases. Some cases needed manual interventions since autonomous mowers got stuck on because of shallow tree roots. Among the seven areas studied, the largest was chosen to be thoroughly analyzed in order to suggest two alternative design and management solutions and to carry out an economical comparison with the current state. When the inspection of this area was carried out, three autonomous mowers were used. Analyzing different management solutions showed that using only two autonomous mowers with specific technological devices was more advantageous. The costs of the current management solution using three autonomous mowers exceeded the costs of the suggested scenarios respectively of 2118.79 € and of 1451.15 €. Moreover, redesigning greenspaces with curbs slightly lower than grass and choosing trees with tap-root systems will help to avoid manual interventions. In this way, the efficiency of autonomous mowers will be enhanced, helping to obtain all the benefits derived from using autonomous mowers.

While the occupational health of sign language interpreters has traditionally focused on physical health, evidence demonstrating mental health concerns is growing and supporting a shift to a more integrated approach. We embarked on a qualitative study to guide the adaptation of a previously developed Total Worker Health® program to the context of sign language interpreting. Eight unstructured 90-min focus groups were conducted. Interpreters reported occupational safety, health, and well-being concerns and shared their solutions for management. Twenty-seven interpreters participated (aged 53.7 years; 81% female; 85% white). Predominant concerns centered on topics like workplace violence, secondary traumatic stress or vicarious trauma, lack of work-life integration or boundaries, and loss of agency or loss of self. The organizational culture of the field fostered deprioritization of self, oppression, elitism, sexism, and unhealthy relationships with interpreter peers and community members. Physical health remained a contributor, specifically the physical effects of non-physical work, aging, and differences in exposures across interpreting settings but paled in comparison to mental health and organizational culture. Solutions for management included but were not limited to prioritization of jobs, creating safe spaces/communities of supported practice, and exercise. This study supports the evolution of future research, practice, policy, and capacity building aspiring to a more integrated approach.

The expansion of the pharmaceutical industry has raised concerns about the environmental repercussions stemming from pharmaceutical waste. Inadequate management of waste and disposal have caused hazardous chemicals to be released into the environment, putting the wildlife and people in danger. This summary delves into the environmental consequences of pharmaceutical waste and highlights sustainable solutions for efficient waste management. Pharmaceutical waste encompasses expired or unused medications, packaging materials, and by-products from manufacturing processes. It contains biologically active compounds that can persist in the environment for extended periods. These materials have been found in lakes, soil, and animals, and can cause an imbalance in the ecology and can damage different marine species. To make matters worse, incorrect disposal of pharmaceutical drugs can pollute drinking water, thus posing a serious risk to people's health. Addressing these pressing issues necessitates the implementation of sustainable solutions for pharmaceutical waste management. This abstract explores various approaches, including source reduction, proper disposal practices, and the adoption of advanced treatment technologies. Source reduction involves minimizing the generation of pharmaceutical waste by implementing measures such as improved inventory management and the development of eco-friendly manufacturing processes. Less waste generated can help the environment. The right way to discard medicines is to drop them off at designated areas or take advantage of return programs. These initiatives aim to prevent inappropriate disposal of pharmaceuticals in household waste or by flushing them down the toilet. By establishing dedicated channels for disposal, the risks of environmental contamination can be significantly reduced. Additionally, the exploration of advanced treatment technologies, such as incineration, chemical treatment, and biodegradation, is crucial for effective pharmaceutical waste management. These technologies aim to eliminate or neutralize hazardous compounds present in pharmaceutical waste, thereby minimizing the environmental impact.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have attracted significant research interest in recent years because of their suitability to a wide range of real world applications. The envisioned Internet Protocol (IP) support for WSNs requires interoperability with existing management solutions, like Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), in order to provide remote management functionality and assure the correct operation of the WSN. It is essential to provide a network management system that is interoperable with standard network management solutions, customizable, and extensible to various WSN applications. In this paper we present work in progress on our EmNetS Network Management Protocol (EMP), a lightweight and SNMP-compliant IP-based WSN (IP-WSN) management solution. We present detailed operational architecture and a Management Information Base (MIB) which is extensible to IP-WSN applications. We also present implementation details and preliminary results from our laboratory testbed.

ObjectivesThe overriding research goal is to describe and analyze the evolution of the change in the concept of military project management and the impact of the use of modern low-code and no-code technologies on this area.MethodsThe main research method used in the work is desk research, which allowed for searching, collecting and analyzing information from existing sources, and then formulating conclusions on the basis of the researched problem. In response to over-exploitation of communal marine resources, many national governments have sought to introduce new management regimes to replace pre-existing indigenous systems. However, with the increasing popularity of community-led participative development projects amongst mainstream development agendes, the direction is now to reintegrate such systems into ‘modern’ management solutions. This may be appropriate under certain circumstances, but tends to oversimplify and overlook the contradictory motivations of subgroups within any single community.

A rapid rise in inhabitants across the globe has led to the inadmissible management of waste in various countries, giving rise to various health issues and environmental pollution. The waste-collecting trucks collect waste just once or twice in seven days. Due to improper waste collection practices, the waste in the dustbin is spread on the streets. Thus, to defeat this situation, an efficient solution for smart and effective waste management using machine learning (ML) and the Internet of Things (IoT) is proposed in this paper. In the proposed solution, the authors have used an Arduino UNO microcontroller, ultrasonic sensor, and moisture sensor. Using image processing, one can measure the waste index of a particular dumping ground. A hardware prototype is also developed for the proposed framework. Thus, the presented solution for the efficient management of waste accomplishes the aim of establishing clean and pollution-free cities.

In this study, we present a comprehensive study about the performance of Static and Dynamic Alliance method that can enhance the performance of PCQ. Moreover, the objective of this study is to combine the method of static and dynamic bandwidth management to become Static, and Dynamic Alliance focused on the performance of Static and Dynamic Alliance method through analysis the download speed between PCQ and Static and Dynamic Alliance method. The router fetched bandwidth usage data and PCQ bandwidth allocation data. Those data will be processed and fed into the control system. Using Per-Connection Queue (PCQ) analysis, evaluation of data transfer speed between static, dynamic and combination of both methods have been done. We found that when the PCQ Method was utilized, IDM has a higher bandwidth compared to Google Chrome. During download task processing without canceling or pausing, the application of static and dynamic alliance method of management bandwidth has been conducted into the router successfully. Both IDM and Google Chrome receive an equal amount of bandwidth. Combination of static and dynamic methods in response to internet download accelerator application provide more efficient bandwidth allocation significantly. Those strengthen that static and dynamic alliance is a feasible solution of reliable internet bandwidth management and it is recommended to apply this method for improvement of dynamic method.
