Medical images will be an inseparable part for evaluating medical conditions of a person in real-time. This process will become efficient by exploiting the characteristics that are offered by IoT in the healthcare sectoral issues. This will allow more efficiency in the processing of a medical image. However, the medical images are exposed to the major risks through frequent attacks which may lead up to misinformation the physician in the diagnosis of the disease. Piracy eradication remains the major challenge in the present-day world in IoT platform. Subsequently, the medical watermarked image is significant technique of ensuring the clinical information that exists in the medical images. In this regard, this paper labors on a medical image based on digital watermarking can be utilized to protect health sign embedding in a medical image within an invisible status. The proposed method performance is evaluated by utilizing MSE, PSNR, SSIM, and NC, which are necessary to get the best result for performance metrics. This work is achieved in four levels Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). Each level is utilized different wavelet family. These wavelets family are composed of biorthogonal wavelet, reverse biorthogonal wavelet, discrete meyer wavelet, symlet wavelet, and coiflets wavelet transform. The proposed technique is highly robust against numerous sorts of attacks. The results refer that this proposed algorithm permits prevention at a higher level compared with other current structures and algorithms.

Medical image copyright protection is becoming increasingly relevant as medical images are used more frequently in medical networks and institutions. The traditional embedded watermarking system is inappropriate for medical images since it degrades the original images’ quality. Furthermore, medical-colored image watermarking options are constrained since most medical watermarking systems are built for gray-scale images. This paper proposes a zero-watermarking scheme for medical color image copyright protection based on a chaotic system and Resnet50, which is a convolutional neural network method. The network Resnet50 is used to extract features from the color medical image, and then a logistic Gaussian map is used to scramble these features and scramble the binary image. Finally, an exclusive OR operation is performed (scrambled binary image, scrambled features for the medical color image) to form a zero watermarking. The experimental result proves that our scheme is effective and robust to geometric and common image processing attacks. The BER values of the extracted watermarks are below 0.0039, and the NCC values are above 0.9942, while the average PSNR values of the attacked images are 29.0056 dB. Also, it is superior to other zero-watermark schemes for medical images in terms of robustness to conventional image processing and geometric attacks. Furthermore, the experimental results show that the Resnet50 model outperforms other models in terms of reducing the mean squared errors of the features between the attacked and original image.

Deep learning has achieved great success in the field of computer vision, and the precision in image classification and image detection has surpassed humans. Therefore, this paper combines deep learning and medical image segmentation, focusing on how to improve the accuracy and speed of segmentation algorithm of medical exercise rehabilitation image. Aiming at the shortcomings of traditional medical image recognition methods, a medical exercise rehabilitation image segmentation algorithm based on hierarchical features of convolutional neural networks is proposed, this paper calls it as hierarchical features of convolutional neural networks (HFCNN). The algorithm firstly samples the convolution output of multiple layers in the convolutional neural network to a unified scale and combines them to construct a hierarchical feature. This hierarchical feature combines the structural information of objects contained in the shallow layer of the network with the semantic information of objects contained in the deep layers of the network, so it has a strong ability to express. Secondly, the image can be segmented into multiple super pixels by the super pixel segmentation algorithm. The classifier is trained using the hierarchical features of the super pixel, and then the classification result is mapped back to the pixel. Finally, a fully connected conditional random field algorithm including one-potential potential energy and paired potential energy is constructed. The corresponding energy function is used to smooth the classification result of the pixel, and the regional consistency and continuity of the pixel mark are improved. Compared with many classical convolutional neural network algorithms, this algorithm not only accelerates the network convergence speed, shortens the training time, but also significantly improves the accuracy of segmentation algorithm of medical exercise rehabilitation image, showing good practical value.

The ever-growing numbers of medical digital images and the need to share them among specialists and hospitals for better and more accurate diagnosis require that patients' privacy be protected. During the transmission of medical images between hospitals or specialists through the network, the main priority is to protect a patient's documents against any act of tampering by unauthorised individuals. Because of this, there is a need for medical image authentication scheme to enable proper diagnosis on patient. In addition, medical images are also susceptible to salt and pepper impulse noise through the transmission in communication channels. This noise may also be intentionally used by the invaders to corrupt the embedded watermarks inside the medical images. A common drawback of existing watermarking methods is their weakness against salt and pepper noise. The research carried out in this work addresses the issue of designing a new watermarking method that can withstand high density of salt and pepper noise for brain MRI images. For this purpose, combination of a spatial domain watermarking method, channel coding and noise filtering schemes are used. The region of non-interest (RONI) of MRI images from five different databases are used as embedding area and electronic patient record (EPR) is considered as embedded data. The quality of watermarked image is evaluated using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Structural Similarity Index (SSIM), and the accuracy of the extracted watermark is assessed in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER).

Image fusion is the process of gathering all the important information of multiple images into a single fused image. It is used in many fields like medical, military, remote sensing etc... Image fusion in a medical field is extensively used by physicians for analysis and treatment, as the fused image contains complementary features present in different medical images obtained from imaging devices. The wave atom transform based medical image fusion is proposed as the potential capabilities of wave atoms have been exploded in many applications like image denoising, fingerprint identification, compression etc. Medical image techniques became important tool for medical diagnosis and treatment. Medical images of different modalities such as MRI, CT, PET, SPECT provide information in a limited domain. In medical resources, MRI and CT images contain structural information whereas PET and SPECT images contain functional Information. Thus, single modality does not provide complete and accurate information, both structural as well as functional information is required. So far, many medical image fusion methods have been developed. The easiest way to perform image fusion is to perform weighted average of input images pixel by pixel. But this method produces side effects such as artifacts & contrast reduction. The proposed method is experimented on various medical images and compared with recent state of fusion methods. Results prove that images obtained from proposed method have better clarity and enhanced information and are practically more helpful for better treatment and quick analysis.

Secure IoT-enabled sharing of digital medical records: An integrated approach with reversible data hiding, symmetric cryptosystem, and IPFS

Part 3 provides some case studies and applications in radiation therapy and computer-aided diagnosis along with a perspective on future trends in medical and molecular imaging. The book is well organized and well presented. A concise summary before each chapter highlights the most important points of the text. This book can be used as a textbook for graduate courses and as an excellent reference for radiologists, neurologists, biomedical engineers, and researchers who are interested in imaging processing and modeling.

Image resolution enhancement is a problem of considerable interest in all medical imaging modalities. Unlike general purpose imaging or video processing, for a very long time, medical image resolution enhancement has been based on optimization of the imaging devices. Although some recent works purport to deal with image postprocessing, much remains to be done regarding medical image enhancement via postprocessing, especially in ultrasound imaging. We face a resolution improvement issue in the case of medical ultrasound imaging. We propose to investigate this problem using multidimensional autoregressive (AR) models. Noting that the estimation of the envelope of an ultrasound radio frequency (RF) signal is very similar to the estimation of classical Fourier-based power spectrum estimation, we theoretically show that a domain change and a multidimensional AR model can be used to achieve super-resolution in ultrasound imaging provided the order is estimated correctly. Here, this is done by means of a technique that simultaneously estimates the order and the parameters of a multidimensional model using relevant regression matrix factorization. Doing so, the proposed method specifically fits ultrasound imaging and provides an estimated envelope. Moreover, an expression that links the theoretical image resolution to both the image acquisition features (such as the point spread function) and a postprocessing feature (the AR model) order is derived. The overall contribution of this work is threefold. First, it allows for automatic resolution improvement. Through a simple model and without any specific manual algorithmic parameter tuning, as is used in common methods, the proposed technique simply and exclusively uses the ultrasound RF signal as input and provides the improved B-mode as output. Second, it allows for the a priori prediction of the improvement in resolution via the knowledge of the parametric model order before actual processing. Finally, to achieve the previous goal, while classical parametric methods would first estimate the model order and then the model parameters, our approach estimates the model parameters and the order simultaneously. The effectiveness of the methodology is validated using two-dimensional synthetic and in vivo data. We show that, compared to other techniques, our method provides better results from a qualitative and a quantitative viewpoint.

For a considerable amount of time, medical image processing has been an important topic of research in the field of medicine. The advent of deep learning technology has resulted in the development of revolutionary improvements in this particular sector. Because of its remarkable effectiveness in training enormous amounts of data and performing difficult tasks, deep learning has attracted a lot of attention. It has found extensive application in the analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of medical pictures. This work employs the literature review approach to examine and analyze the existing research conducted by academics on deep learning and medical imaging. It also provides a summary of the utilization of deep learning in medical imaging images and highlights the current development trend in this field.

This article introduces a medical imaging and image processing knowledge center which serves as an e-learning platform based on network technology. This platform includes contents of medical imaging and medical image processing for the teaching activities, virtual reality tutoring system of human skeleton, medical image database, etc. The purpose of establishing this platform is to recruit and excavate information records which usually associated with the daily data exchanged in teaching and research activities. Then it will gradually form an open professional knowledge database. At present, this platform plays the role of knowledge community in the educational activities of BME program in Tsinghua University.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing and medical imaging have a complementary association, the benefits and application areas of which are increasingly documented and further illustrated in this journal publication. Medical imaging data can be appropriately processed (i.e. segmented) to provide the geometric information from which accurate and realistic 3D medical models can be generated. The resulting models can be printed in a range of different materials to suit their use as phantoms in medical radiation and imaging studies, for medical imaging education and training or patient communication.

The similarities and crossovers between geophysical and medical imaging are well known and documented (see President's Pages by D. Lumley and J. Zhang in the March 2021 and June 2022 issues, respectively, for two recent examples from this journal). Each of the two industries has introduced technology of tremendous value to the other, and one can only imagine what future advancements in medical imaging may bring to exploration geophysics — and vice versa. Welcome to the wonderland of the intersection of geophysical imaging and medical imaging.
