Model Driven Architecture in Containers-Based Software Development

Software developers are increasingly using Unified Modeling Language (UML) tools to automate source code generation. Therefore, nowadays calculating software metrics from UML diagrams to evaluate software quality is an important trend in the software industry. However, acquisition of software metrics from Extensible Markup Language (XML) export of UML tools has been predominantly tool dependent. Moreover, each new tool may have different specifications in XML. Despite the overall need for a process to automate XML unification, no current solution has yet been proposed. Creating a framework to automate this assessment would streamline development and increase efficiency in software industry. With the aim to overcome this deficiency, we developed a parser-based framework, named UXSOM, to calculate software metrics independently from the UML tool. Particularly UXSOM is able to generate software metrics from the XML-based outputs of the tools, ArgoUML, UMLET, MagicDraw, Sparx Systems, and ESS Model. We showed a very general case of UML class diagram, in which we extracted and compared software metrics from these five different tool.

In this paper, we propose a verification methodology for System-On-Chip (SoC) design using Unified Modeling Language (UML). We introduce UML as a formal model to analyze and formalize the specification. The specification and implementation validation can be performed systematically by introducing UML. We applied our method to a Mobile Media Processors SoC. We improved the quality of ζ the specification written in informal natural language through UML modeling techniques. The test scenarios and coverage metrics for implementation are derived from the UML model systematically. The result shows that our proposal is effective for eliminating errors from both specification and implementation.

The basic precondition for effective management and protection of a forest is a concept built on modern methods of collection, processing, analysis and publication of spatial data about forest coverage, as well as its health status. This paper provides a structural concept for integration of heterogeneous data in the support of the forest protection with implementation of the latest methods of remote sensing data collection. The main principles of the structural concept of Forest protection management system (FPMS) result from the assessment of the current and new available data sources (represented by the Diagram of data sources), data analysis and development of innovative mathematical techniques of image processing (represented by the Diagram of methods and tools). Mind maps of the proposed diagrams were created in the free mind mapping application FreeMind. The structural concept is represented by an analytical model of the co-operation of data sources, tools and applications. The dynamic structure was proposed using Unified Modelling Language (UML). The Diagram of the use cases is represented by a Use Case Diagram in UML. The Diagram of the processes, which describes the main processes realized within forest protection management, is represented by an Activity Diagram in UML. The UML diagrams were created in open-source software StarUML. The resulted structural concept of FPMS is the basis of a predictive model improvement and a web application development for the forest protection from the bark beetle.

Risk is the possibility of suffering loss. Risks identified during the early stages of software development are easier and cheaper to handle by making changes to the software architecture. This thesis presents methodologies to assess software risk using Unified Modeling Language (UML) specifications of the software from the early design stages. We present methodologies to assess two types of software risk: Requirements-based risk and Performance-based risk. In assessing requirements-based risk, each requirement is mapped to a specific operational scenario in UML. The risk factor of a scenario in a failure mode is obtained by combining the probability of failure of the scenario and the severity of the failure. For the performance-based risk analysis, we use UML diagrams with performance related annotations, build a software execution model for each scenario and then map it to a system execution model using the deployment information. For estimating the performance-based failures of each scenario we use an asymptotic bounding analysis. The methodologies are applied on various case studies.

Developing software systems that are complicated and critical gives challenges to software engineers and the software industry. Intelligent software agent design is one such application domain that imposes challenges. The application of formal methods in software engineering, specifically with executable software specification languages, can involve much learning among the users of the system. Although executable software specifications tend to be advantageous over the traditional software specification process, the passive growth inside industry remains open for research efforts to come up with the hidden myths. The application of formal methods during system development of intelligent software agents makes the design of the product reliable. This paper describes an approach that combines an extension to the widely used Unified Modeling Language (UML) for design with an executable specification language. Also, the paper describes an approach that transforms agent oriented specifications written using the extended Descartes specification language into a high level design representation using Agent UML (AUML).

The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has been widely accepted as the standard object-oriented (OO) modeling language for modeling various aspects of software and information systems. The UML is an extensible language, in the sense that it provides mechanisms to introduce new elements for specific domains if necessary, such as web applications, database applications, business modeling, software development processes, data warehouses and so on. Furthermore, the latest work of the Object Management Group (OMG) on UML [1] resulted in a larger and more complicated specification, with even more diagrams for some good reasons. Although providing different diagrams for modeling specific parts of a software system, not all of them need to be applied in most cases. Therefore, heuristics, design guidelines, and lessons learned from experiences are extremely important for the effective use of UML and to avoid unnecessary complication.

During this revolutionizing global market, enterprise companies of today must respond dynamically to changes in order to survive the future. The changes compel all business owners to adjust themselves and adapt to new strategies in managing their businesses. Previously, employee management was done manually by most of the company or organization and it requires a huge effort in internal management to ensure an optimum level of their business productivity. In recent years, there has been a significant advancement in technology that allows the company to transform the manual process of employee management into a digitized process through the development of software or web application. Employee management has been undergoing considerable change over the past few decades, as most industries have realized the potential of technology to improve employee management and information. Therefore, an Employee Management System is proposed to solve the problems. The methodology used to develop this system is Agile methodology. Agile methodology focuses on the iteration cycle that splits the development process into different phases which are known as sprints. The phases of Agile methodology consists of requirements, analysis, design, implementation and testing. The system requirements are gathered by using the elicitation techniques such as interview, survey, literature reviews and prototyping. These requirements are represented using Unified Modeling Language (UML) including use case diagram, sequence diagram and activity diagram and then documented into Software Requirement Specification (SRS). A complete and overall design of the system which includes system architecture design, database design, interface design and test case design are conducted and documented into Software Design Document (SDD) and Software Testing Documentation (STD). At the end of this project, an intuitive Employee Management System is developed and could be fully functional to improve the effectiveness of the employee management in the company.

In terms of data processing information, in NIASA CV there is no permanent systemyet, did not use any application like Microsoft Excel and others. For the size of a company, according to the author's observations there are many weaknesses, and the system used so far is only the result of the calculation of the purchase of raw materials and the sale of finished goods. The report also took a long time to record it because there is no bookkeeping.In this design system using the method of survey in the collection and processing of data information to contain a picture of the situation in place of research object. As for system design, the author uses Unified Modeling Language (UML). UML it self are one of many tools under Object Oriented Programming, so safe to assume that Star UML will be the right tool for analyze. The design is now expected to facilitate users in reporting and the owners of Niasa CV can view or collect reports easily, quickly, and probably help the CV to have a permanent system.

In this paper, we present a new approach in the way that a network modelling and simulation or a queuing theory course can be done. Beyond the mathematical model that sometimes is too difficult for students to understand, this paper introduces the use of Unified Modelling Language (UML) as the mean to teach modelling of discrete event systems such as queues and networks. The basic course scheduling and teaching material are presented too. It is also shown how this method was evaluated by the teachers and the students that attended the course and answered a questionnaire.

Safety is a concerned point in today’s railway control system. Historical evidence on railway control system failure makes a matter of concern on safe control system. In this paper, we present a use/misuse case based safety framework for a railway control system with integrated safety analysis. The framework comprises of two major processes i.e. use/misuse case based requirements modelling and application of integrated safety analysis techniques. First, the use case and misuse case specification analyze all the system function and identify possible failures. Second, integrated safety analysis techniques evaluate the specification, identify hazards and propose the mitigations. This paper analyses the railway control system reliability using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and followed by integrated safety analysis techniques such as Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). This approach has been systematically applied to study two different domain in system reliability and system control based on human interaction. We demonstrate how an applicability of UML specification is integrated with safety analysis techniques for the development of safe railway control system.

We present COLLECT-UML, a constraint-based intelligent tutoring system (ITS) that teaches object-oriented analysis and design using Unified Modelling Language (UML). UML is easily the most popular object-oriented modelling technology in current practice. While teaching how to design UML class diagrams, COLLECT-UML also provides feedback on collaboration. Being one of constraint-based tutors, COLLECT-UML represents the domain knowledge as a set of constraints. However, it is the first system to also represent a higher-level skill such as collaboration using the same formalism. We started by developing a single-user ITS that supported students in learning UML class diagrams. The system was evaluated in a real classroom, and the results showed that students’ performance increased significantly. In this paper, we present our experiences in extending the system to provide support for collaboration as well as domain-level support. We describe the architecture, interface and support for collaboration in the new, multi-user system. The effectiveness of the system has been evaluated in two studies. In addition to improved problem-solving skills, the participants both acquired declarative knowledge about effective collaboration and did collaborate more effectively. The participants have enjoyed working with the system and found it a valuable asset to their learning.

In manufacturing, a good workshop tool management system (WTMS) plays an important role for enterprise production planning system & the use of equipment capacity. By using Unified Modeling Language (UML), based on Use Case Diagram, Static Structure Diagrams, and Dynamic Behavior Diagram, the functional demands of workshop tool management system are analyzed. Thus the workshop tool management system model is established, and the Sub-function systems are designed in detail. Farther more, technical instrument of WTMS & key technology are systematically studied. And an example of WTMS prototype system has been put forward in the end.

KJKS Al-Falah engaged in the financial sector in the form of deposits (wadiah) and financing (murabaha and loss) .At present the KJKS Al-Falah difficulties in tackling the problem of bad loans for financing are not yet on the assessment criteria perfectly 5C collateral only criterion alone, so less able to assess potential creditors as a whole based on the principle of financing. The purpose of this study was to design a decision support system that can help KJKS Al-Falah regarding the provision of financing by applying the criteria 5C character, capacity, capital, collateral, condition and two additional criteria, personality and purpose in analyzing the feasibility of financing by the method of decision makers, namely Simple Additive weighting (SAW). System development methods with methods Rapid Application Development (RAD) using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and programming languages PHP 5.3.1 and MySQL 5.1.41 database. Results from this study is a decision support system that can be used to analyze the feasibility of financing and as a reference in the process of filing a financing decision. This paper articulates a way of using unified modelling language (UML) to develop SCM, CRM and other business value chain activities for any SME, our focus is to emphasize on the interfaces of systems. The results show that the UML was useful in the development of information systems. The main objective of this work is to create a functional service-oriented system for ERP, CRM and SCM to share its own services (functionalities) to each other within an application domain.

This research focused on RT.003 RW.003 in Macan Lindungan Bukit area. The RT.003.RW.003 area is included in Bukit Baru Village, Ilir Barat I District, Macan Lindungan Region. Bukit Baru Village has existed since February 22, 1996. Initially, Bukit Baru Village was the result of the expansion of Bukit Lama Village. Bukit Baru sub-district, especially the RT.003 area, was initially very quiet and deserted because most of the area was swamp, where the population was still very small. Along with the progress of development and the increase in living standards and the success of government, especially RT.003, Bukit Baru Village, it can be said to be developing well. As an area that is still developing towards a developed society area, the selection of RT.003 and RW.003 in this area is still done manually. Where residents are invited to come to the meeting hall to vote, with paper and pens distributed by the committee to choose the candidate for RT/RW chairman. In this research, we will develop an E-Voting application system, which will be implemented in RT.003 in Macan Lindungan area. E-Voting was developed to make it easier for citizens to vote and to know the results quickly. The method used in software development uses the Waterfall system planning method using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and system testing uses black box testing. With the web-based e-voting application development model, residents no longer have to come to the polling place but residents can simply vote from home. The programming language used in developing this e-voting application is Web-based PHP and a database that uses MYSQL. Residents who are voters in RT.003 area will be given a user name and password in the online voting process, and can see the vision and mission platform of RT.003 chairman candidates in the e-voting application. The e-voting system that was built provides an interface that is easy for users to use and offers a data search process and election report results that can be immediately known, compared to manual processes.
