Abstract

Machine learning models are often black box and thus practitioners find it difficult to predict their behavior, debug, and implement specific improvements. The paper is a proposal of a no-code comprehension platform, Model Insights, offering detailed analysis and insights with actionable recommendations on machine learning and deep learning models, without the need of code knowledge on part of the end-user. The platform automatically processes uploaded models in order to comprehend their architecture, measure performance metrics, offer explainability via SHAP-driven visualizations and generate individualized improvements advice. Model Insights is written in a modern technology stack, React.js frontend with TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, and Python backends with TensorFlow/Keras and scikit-learn, and can serve multiple model formats (.h5, .pkl, .joblib) and data formats (e.g. tabular and image data). The system uses a variety of explainability measures, such as SHAP-based feature importance scores, individual prediction explanations, and overall performance measures, such as ROC curves, confusion matrices, and precisions-recall. Moreover, the site has an integrated chatbot assistant when submitting ML/DL queries, and version comparison to monitor performance change in a model. User testing shows that the platform helps greatly to improve model transparency and interpretability and allows both a beginner and expert user to recognize areas of poor performance, confirm or exclude model decisions, and make informed corrections. The findings indicate that model understanding and development efficacy is significantly improved, which makes Model Insights a viable solution in responsible AI creation and model management in both an academic and enterprise setting.
