Deformations of the generalised Picard bundle
Let H be the upper half plane and T a discrete subgroup of AutH.Suppose that H mod Y is of finite measure. This work stems from the question whether there is an algebraic interpretation for the moduli of unitary representations of T similar to the case whenWe show that this is indeed the case via the moduli of vector bundles on the compactification of H mod r, provided with some additional structures which we propose to call parabolic structures. The idea of parabolic structures is inspired from A. Weil's work [6,§2, Chapter I, p. 56].Let Xbe a smooth, irreducible, projective curve defined, say, over an algebraically closed field k.By vector bundles on X we understand algebraic vector bundles.DEFINITION 1.Let V be a vector bundle on X and Q G X. A criterion for virtual global generation
Let X be a smooth projective curve defined over an algebraically closed field k, and let FX denote the absolute Frobenius morphism of X when the characteristic of k is positive. A vector bundle over X is called virtually glob- ally generated if its pull back, by some finite morphism to X from some smooth projective curve, is generated by its global sections. We prove the following. If the characteristic of k is positive, a vector bundle E over X is virtually globally generated if and only if (F m X ) ∗ E ∼ Ea ⊕ E f for some m, where Ea is some ample vector bundle and E f is some finite vector bundle over X (either of Ea and E f are allowed to be zero). If the characteristic of k is zero, a vector bundle E over X is virtually globally generated if and only if E is a direct sum of an ample vector bundle and a finite vector bundle over X (either of them are allowed to be zero).

Let M(n, ξ) be the moduli space of stable vector bundles of rank n ≥ 3 and fixed determinant ξ over a complex smooth projective algebraic curve X of genus g ≥ 4. We use the gonality of the curve and r-Hecke morphisms to describe a smooth open set of an irreducible component of the Hilbert scheme of M(n, ξ), and to compute its dimension. We prove similar results for the scheme of morphisms \({M or_P (\mathbb{G}, M(n, \xi))}\) and the moduli space of stable bundles over \({X \times \mathbb{G}}\), where \({\mathbb{G}}\) is the Grassmannian \({\mathbb{G}(n - r, \mathbb{C}^n)}\). Moreover, we give sufficient conditions for \({M or_{2ns}(\mathbb{P}^1, M(n, \xi))}\) to be non-empty, when s ≥ 1.

Here we give an upper bound for the number of irreducible components of the moduli scheme of stable rank r torsion-free sheaves of fixed degree on the integral curve X. This bound depends only on r, Sing(X),pa(X) and the corresponding number for the rank 1 case. Let X be an integral complete curve of arithmetic genus Pa and geometric genus g. For all integers r, d with r > 1 let M(X, r, d) (or just M(r, d)) be the moduli scheme of stable rank r torsion-free sheaves on X with degree d. For general background on stable vector bundles and sheaves on curves and their moduli schemes, see [N] or [S]. The number of irreducible components of M (r, d) does not depend on d, but only on X and r (see Theorem 1.2). Let n(r, X) (or just n(r)) be the number of irreducible components of M(r, d). Here we want to give upper bounds on n(r) depending only on the singularities of X, the integer r and n(l). This is given by Theorem 0.1 (see the discussion in the last part of Remark 1.4). To state Theorem 0.1 (our main result) we need to introduce a few concepts (e.g. measures for the singularities of X) and fix some notation. Let 7r: C -* X be the normalization (hence g = pa(C)). Set 6 := Pa g. Set o:= Ox. For any x C Sing(X), set Ox := Ox,x and let mx be the maximal ideal of Ox; set kx := Ox/mx. Set fx := dimK(Ext1(kx,Ox)) and f := max{fx}xEsirlg(x). For example, we have fx = 1 if and only if Ox is Gorenstein (see e.g. [Co], Lemma 2.1.4). Let ex be the multiplicity of X at x; set := max(ex) and e := Ex ex. Let F be a rank r torsion-free sheaf on X; the set of all formal isomorphism classes of the germs {FX}xEsirlg(x) will be called the formal isomorphism class of F. The set W of all possible isomorphism classes for rank r torsion-free sheaves around Sing(X) has in a natural way a scheme structure; for any reduced subscheme Q of W, let M(r, d, Q) be the reduced subscheme of M(r, d)r.eci parametrizing sheaves with formal isomorphism type in Q. Let n(r, Q) (or n(r, d, Q)) be the number of irreducible components of M(r, d, Q). By Theorem 1.2 this integer does not depend on d. Our main interest is when Q is an irreducible component of Wr.ec. A generalization of the notion of almost complex structure is defined on a nonorientable smooth manifold M of even dimension. It is defined by giving an isomorphism J from the tangent bundle TM to the tensor product of the tangent bundle with the orientation bundle such that J○J=−Id TM . The composition J○J is realized as an automorphism of TM using the fact that the orientation bundle is of order two. A notion of integrability of this almost complex structure is defined; also the Kahler condition has been extended. The usual notion of a complex vector bundle is generalized to the nonorientable context. It is a real vector bundle of even rank such that the almost complex structure of a fiber is given up to the sign. Such bundles have generalized Chern classes. These classes take value in the cohomology of the tensor power of the local system defined by the orientation bundle. The notion of a holomorphic vector bundle is extended to the context under consideration. Stable vector bundles and Einstein–Hermitian connections are also generalized. It is shown that a generalized holomorphic vector bundle on a compact nonorientable Kahler manifold admits an Einstein–Hermitian connection if and only if it is polystable.

In this paper we study meromorphic maps between vector bundles on a Riemann surface. We are mainly interested in stable vector bundles. For a huge number of numerical data we prove the existence of a meromorphic map between two vector bundles with a prescribed number of zeroes and a prescribed number of poles.
Read moreGeometry of moduli stacks of(k,l)-stable vector bundles over algebraic curves
We study the geometry of the moduli stack of vector bundles of fixed rank and degree over an algebraic curve by introducing a filtration made of open substacks build from ( k , l ) -stable vector bundles. The concept of ( k , l ) -stability was introduced by Narasimhan and Ramanan to study the geometry of the coarse moduli space of stable bundles. We will exhibit the stacky picture and analyse the geometric and cohomological properties of the moduli stacks of ( k , l ) -stable vector bundles. For particular pairs ( k , l ) of integers we also show that these moduli stacks admit coarse moduli spaces and we discuss their interplay.

As we know from the Riemann-Roch theorem the topological classification of complex vector bundles E → M over compact Riemann surface is ‘very simple’: they are classified by one integer c 1(E), the first Chern class of E → M. The situation is quite different in the case of classification of holomorphic category. This could have been expected from our experience with the Teichmuller theory, the main chapter of the Riemann moduli problem.

The equivalence of Hilbert and Mumford stability for vector bundles
In this paper, we prove that the notions of Hilbert stability and Mumford stability agree for vector bundles of arbitrary rank over smooth curves. The notion of Hilbert stability was introduced by Gieseker and Morrison in 1984, and they showed that for smooth curves and vector bundles of rank two it agrees with Mumford stability. A different proof for the rank two case was given by M. Teixidor i Bigas. Our proof uses a new approach and avoids complicated computations. Our results might serve as a first step in the construction of the Hilbert stable compactification of the universal moduli space of stable vector bundles over the moduli space of smooth curves as suggested by Teixidor.

Let M be a compact complex manifold of dimension at least three and Π : M → X a positive principal elliptic fibration, where X is a compact Kähler orbifold. Fix a preferred Hermitian metric on M. In [14], the third author proved that every stable vector bundle on M is of the form L⊕ Π ⃰ B0, where B0 is a stable vector bundle on X, and L is a holomorphic line bundle on M. Here we prove that every stable Higgs bundle on M is of the form (L ⊕ Π ⃰B0, Π ⃰ ɸX), where (B0, ɸX) is a stable Higgs bundle on X and L is a holomorphic line bundle on M.

We find the automorphism group of the moduli space of parabolic bundles on a smooth curve (with fixed determinant and system of weights). This group is generated by: automorphisms of the marked curve, tensoring with a line bundle, taking the dual, and Hecke transforms (using the filtrations given by the parabolic structure). A Torelli theorem for parabolic bundles with arbitrary rank and generic weights is also obtained. These results are extended to the classification of birational equivalences which are defined over “big” open subsets (3-birational maps, i.e. birational maps giving an isomorphism between open subsets with complement of codimension at least 3).Finally, an analysis of the stability chambers for the parabolic weights is performed in order to determine precisely when two moduli spaces of parabolic vector bundles with different parameters (curve, rank, determinant and weights) can be isomorphic.

Let X be a smooth projective curve, L∈Pic (X) and E a vector bundle on X. Here we study the bigraded algebra\(A(X;E,L): = \oplus _{u,t \in \mathbb{Z},t \geqslant 0} H^0 (X,Hom(E \otimes L^{ \otimes u} ,E \otimes L^{ \otimes (u + t)} ))\), mainly when E is a general stable bundle on X. We give informations on the degrees of the minimal generators and study a generalization of the notion of projective normality.
