Multi-user mass satellite image collaborative scheduling scheme research

Observations of information retrieval (IR) system user experiences reveal a strong desire for collaborative search while at the same time suggesting that collaborative capabilities are rarely, and then only in a limited fashion, supported by current searching and visualization tools. Equally interesting is the fact that observations of user experiences with group support systems (GSS) reveal that although access to external information and the ability to search for relevant material is often vital to the progress of GSS sessions, integrated support for collaborative searching and visualization of results is lacking in GSS systems. After reviewing both user experiences described in IR and GSS literature and observing and interviewing users of existing IR and GSS commercial and prototype systems, the authors conclude that there is an obvious demand for systems supporting multi-user IR. It is surprising to the authors that very little attention has been given to the common ground shared by these two important research domains. With this in mind, our paper describes how user experiences with IR and GSS systems have shed light on a promising new area of collaborative research and led to the development of a prototype that merges the two paradigms into a collaborative information retrieval environment (CIRE). The paper presents a theory developed from initial user experiences with our prototype and describes plans to test the efficacy of this new paradigm empirically through controlled experimentation.

As Android User's and its application market is growing; android applications tend to collect user's data for various purposes; for advertisement agencies, for better user experiences and to learn about user's behavior on internet. However, it raises concern about privacy of an individual being compromised. We propose a methodology to make android applications deterrent to data leakage as well as detect covert communications in them. We have used reverse engineering approaches to identify sources and sinks of the data leakage as well as covert communication, if any. We tested our methodology over a set a 57 highly popular applications from PlayStore and found that nearly 40% are covertly collecting user's data and nearly 60% are making questionable connections to undeclared servers. However, after modification of application we did not find much difference in user experiences. We also did a case study of data logging application, DroidWatch by Justin Grover.

The alignment of User Experience (UX) design and business strategy is now a primary factor in the success of organizations operating in the current, competitive digital environment. Salesforce is a renowned Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system that consistently facilitates the processes of customer engagement, sales, and service. Nonetheless, to get the most out of it, a well-designed UX strategy must be developed to help it keep up with the business-wide goals. This paper gives a systematic process of coming up with and transforming a salesforce UX design strategy such that it fulfils outlined objectives of a particular organization. We discuss the importance of stakeholder analysis, persona creation, UX design principles, agile iteration, and Salesforce Lightning Design System (SLDS) integration. The research design is perceived as a combination of qualitative understandings, case studies, and empirical research, aimed at observing gaps and offering solutions. The presented key issues are user adoption, data visualization and optimization of tasks and cross-functional team cooperation. The proposed strategy illustrates positive differences in customer satisfaction, workflow efficiency, and Return on Investment (ROI) that will be quantifiable due to the consideration of a combination of design thinking, Human-Centered Design (HCD), and business analysis. UX evaluation metrics and KPIs used to determine impact are also analysed. The article serves the field of knowledge by providing practitioners and researchers with a step-by-step method for designing UX in enterprise CRM systems, aligning the needs of users with business performance metrics

BackgroundVirtual assistants can be used to deliver innovative health programs that provide appealing, personalized, and convenient health advice and support at scale and low cost. Design characteristics that influence the look and feel of the virtual assistant, such as visual appearance or language features, may significantly influence users’ experience and engagement with the assistant.ObjectiveThis scoping review aims to provide an overview of the experimental research examining how design characteristics of virtual health assistants affect user experience, summarize research findings of experimental research examining how design characteristics of virtual health assistants affect user experience, and provide recommendations for the design of virtual health assistants if sufficient evidence exists.MethodsWe searched 5 electronic databases (Web of Science, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, and ACM Digital Library) to identify the studies that used an experimental design to compare the effects of design characteristics between 2 or more versions of an interactive virtual health assistant on user experience among adults. Data were synthesized descriptively. Health domains, design characteristics, and outcomes were categorized, and descriptive statistics were used to summarize the body of research. Results for each study were categorized as positive, negative, or no effect, and a matrix of the design characteristics and outcome categories was constructed to summarize the findings.ResultsThe database searches identified 6879 articles after the removal of duplicates. We included 48 articles representing 45 unique studies in the review. The most common health domains were mental health and physical activity. Studies most commonly examined design characteristics in the categories of visual design or conversational style and relational behavior and assessed outcomes in the categories of personality, satisfaction, relationship, or use intention. Over half of the design characteristics were examined by only 1 study. Results suggest that empathy and relational behavior and self-disclosure are related to more positive user experience. Results also suggest that if a human-like avatar is used, realistic rendering and medical attire may potentially be related to more positive user experience; however, more research is needed to confirm this.ConclusionsThere is a growing body of scientific evidence examining the impact of virtual health assistants’ design characteristics on user experience. Taken together, data suggest that the look and feel of a virtual health assistant does affect user experience. Virtual health assistants that show empathy, display nonverbal relational behaviors, and disclose personal information about themselves achieve better user experience. At present, the evidence base is broad, and the studies are typically small in scale and highly heterogeneous. Further research, particularly using longitudinal research designs with repeated user interactions, is needed to inform the optimal design of virtual health assistants.

The fast growth of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) head-mounted displays provides a new medium for interactive visualisations and visual analytics. Presence is the experience of consciousness within extended reality, and it has the potential to increase task performance. This project studies the impact that a sense of presence has on data visualisation performance and user experience under AR and VR conditions. A within-subjects design recruited 38 participants to complete interactive visualisation tasks within the novel immersive data analytics system for genomic data in AR and VR, and measured speed, accuracy, preference, presence, and user satisfaction. Open-ended user experience responses were also collected. The results implied that VR was more conducive to efficiency, effectiveness, and user experience as well as offering insight into possible cognitive load benefits for VR users.

To analyse the relationship between health app quality with user ratings and the number of downloads of corresponding health apps. Utilising a dataset of 881 Android-based health apps, assessed via the 300-point objective Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Applications (ORCHA) assessment tool, we explored whether subjective user-level indicators of quality (user ratings and downloads) correlate with objective quality scores in the domains of user experience, data privacy and professional/clinical assurance. For this purpose, we applied spearman correlation and multiple linear regression models. For user experience, professional/clinical assurance and data privacy scores, all models had very low adjusted R squared values (< .02). Suggesting that there is no meaningful link between subjective user ratings or the number of health app downloads and objective quality measures. Spearman correlations suggested that prior downloads only had a very weak positive correlation with user experience scores (Spearman = .084, p = .012) and data privacy scores (Spearman = .088, p = .009). There was a very weak negative correlation between downloads and professional/clinical assurance score (Spearman = -.081, p = .016). Additionally, user ratings demonstrated a very weak correlation with no statistically significant correlations observed between user ratings and the scores (all p > 0.05). For ORCHA scores multiple linear regression had adjusted R-squared = -.002. This study highlights that widely available proxies which users may perceive to signify the quality of health apps, namely user ratings and downloads, are inaccurate predictors for estimating quality. This indicates the need for wider use of quality assurance methodologies which can accurately determine the quality, safety, and compliance of health apps. Findings suggest more should be done to enable users to recognise high-quality health apps, including digital health literacy training and the provision of nationally endorsed "libraries".

The objective of this paper is to give an overview of switched-diversity scheduling for wireless net-works. This multiuser scheduling scheme is based on one-bit only for the channel information feedback. The reduced feedback causes a slight reduction in the achievable rate per resource unit. Nevertheless, the saved resources for the feedback channel can be used to support more data traffic. We introduce the principle concept of this scheduling scheme, and we point out the main contributions in the literature. Furthermore, we discuss how the feedback thresholds of the users are optimized to maximize the system performance, and we provide a numerical example of the achievable rate region in a two-user scenario. Additionally, we highlight two technical challenges which are centralized optimization and fairness, and we show how these can be completely solved be proper scheduler design to achieve proportional fairness among the users. Moreover, we give some comments on two alternative designs, namely the post-user selection strategy and the hybrid switched-selection diversity scheme. We provide additionally some numerical results to demonstrate that the switched-diversity scheduling scheme operates within 0.3 bits/sec/Hz from the ultimate network capacity of a full feedback scheduling scheme in Rayleigh fading conditions.

Users’ personally identifiable information (PII) collection is a primary revenue model for the app-economy, and consequently user tracking has become increasingly invasive and ubiquitous. Smart and IoT devices provide even more access to users’ personal information by utilizing their exact location and default device settings. Although users in most cases must grant permission before their personal information is collected and shared with third-parties, this is not the case when user tracking happens through email or just by owning and using Bluetooth dependent devices. In any case, the average user is willing to accept the terms of the often unread “Privacy Policy” in order to receive the advertised “better user experience”, without really being aware of the consequences of this decision. In this work, we investigate the latest popular technologies for user tracking through mobile and web applications and demonstrate how much information about users can be gathered without user awareness or acknowledgment as well as in which cases and how we were able to limit this tracking. Finally, in our work, we attempt to create unified user profiles by combining our findings from the different tracking techniques against targeted users. We hope that our extensive analysis of beacon tracking will lead to greater awareness of the privacy risks involved with web beacons and Bluetooth tracking and motivate the deployment of stricter regulations and a more effective notification mechanism when such tracking is in place.

No matter the traditional Ming-style furniture is made of exquisite materials, elegant, and simple, or the literati philosophy, connotation, and literati spiritual outlook, values, world outlook, etc. reflected behind it, all have left us with excellent cultural heritage. As a fast-developing technology, virtual reality has a bright future. This paper mainly studies the Ming-style furniture display based on immersive 5G virtual reality technology. Ming-style furniture displays design prototype system development based on user experience. The prototype of the guided design drawings is completed, the Ming-style furniture and display space is modeled in Unity3d, interactive elements are added, and finally it is realized that users can roam in the scene from a first-person perspective and the furniture in the scene, color, material, etc., as well as the detailed display of the items in the scene, the control of the lights in the scene, the control of the sound, and so on are changed. After the establishment of the system, a certain user evaluation is performed on the established system. Questionnaire surveys, focus group interviews, and other methods are used to conduct very detailed investigations and usability tests on users. Then, the test results are realized and the system is optimized to a certain extent. Finally, the user experience of the system design is improved. The experimental survey results show that the average user experience score is 43.7 points and the rating is in the “good” range, which basically meets the user experience. This research plays an important role in improving user experience and at the same time enriches the research in the field of domestic furniture virtual display and has certain significance for the future development of furniture companies.

Online Social Networks have become a rich source of information wherein users of all ages readily provide their personal information. Using various GeoSocial applications, millions of people interact with their surroundings through their friends and their recommendations, without adequate privacy protection, these systems can be easily misused. Applications like targeted advertisement, personalized recommendations can be provided by the GeoSocial network with the help of the personal information aggregated by the user's visit at a venue. This may lead the user towards a significant risk, if their personal information is somehow leaked or sold. In this paper we provide novel approach of building LCPs of current users in a secured way and also proving its location correctness where users can modify LCPs in a predefined manner only. This paper securely and privately extract, model and embed public safety information into user experiences.

ABSTRACTCancer nanotechnologies have the potential to revolutionize cancer diagnosis and treatment; however, their complexity poses challenges to data analysis and knowledge sharing. caNanoLab, a dedicated cancer nanotechnology data‐sharing portal, has emerged as a valuable resource for researchers in this field. However, to fully utilize the wealth of data available in caNanoLab, there is a need for real‐time descriptive statistical presentation and an optimized user experience. Herein, we provide an overview of cancer nanotechnologies and federally funded efforts to create data repositories, aiming to improve information flow and data sharing among researchers in the cancer nanotechnology field. We use caNanoLab as a case study to analyze the challenges in this area and highlight how caNanoLab addresses them. We also identify gaps and explore the potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve user experience. During the process of digital-system development from prototype to live implementation, differences in user interactions, perceived usability, and overall satisfaction can emerge. These differences often arise due to various factors, which may include the fidelity of the software prototype, the limitations of the prototyping tool, and the complexity of the live digital system. Recognizing these potential usability discrepancies between prototypes and live digital systems, assessment of how well user experience (UX) test approaches, such as usability testing and the System Usability Scale (SUS), reflect the UX in using the digital-system prototype and its counterpart deployed live system emerged as an important research gap. To address this gap, this study compares usability testing and SUS results among a Figma web prototype and its counterpart live web digital system, for the telecom service extension process as a representative digital-system case study. The research study involved a testing process with a total of 10 participants across the Figma prototype and live-web-system test environments, in which different sensing devices that included versatile types of mobile phones were utilized. The research study presents usability testing results related to the overlap in perceived usability issues for the same digital-product developments in both testing environments, which are experienced on different types of mobile sensing devices. The usability testing results are presented as reports on the frequency of occurrence of web system usability issues and corresponding severity levels. The obtained results demonstrated that prototype testing is highly effective for detecting a wide range of usability issues early in the digital-product development phase. The paper also evaluates the predictive capabilities of SUS assessment for the case of the Figma web prototype and its counterpart live web system in the phase of digital-product development. The results show that the SUS evaluation, when applied to digital-system prototype testing, can provide early in the development process a reliable indication of the perceived usability of its counterpart digital system, once it is developed and deployed. The findings presented in the paper offer valuable guidance for software designers and developers seeking to make prototypes and their counterpart real digital-product deployments with improved digital-product overall user experience.

Recent advances in technology have led to the availability of powerful speech recognizers at low cost and to the possibility of using speech interaction in a variety of new and exciting practical applications. The purpose of this research was to investigate and develop the use of speech recognition in live television subtitling. This paper describes how the "SpeakTitle" project met the challenges of real time speech recognition and live subtitling through the development of a customisable speaker interface and use of 'Topics' for specific subject domains. In the prototype system (described in Hewitt et al., 2000; Bateman et al., 2001) output from the speech recognition system (the IBM ViaVoice R engine) is passed in to a custom-built editor from where it can be corrected and passed on to an existing subtitling system. The system was developed to the extent that it was acceptable for the production of subtitles for live television broadcasts and it has been adopted by three subtitle production facilities in the UK. The evolution of the product and the experiences of users in developing the system in a live subtitling environment are considered, and the system is analysed against industry standards. Ease-of-use and accuracy are also discussed and further research areas are identified.

The recent development of powerful mobile devices is encouraging people to take them as a computing platform. Users are expecting to personalize services to meet their individual needs and will no longer accept “one size fits all” approach. On the other hand, there is contention between personalization and privacy. This leads to the question of how to maximize the user's experience of personalized mobile services while keeping their privacy. One possible solution is to provide user's control of their personal data by keeping their user model on their personal mobile devices. In this way, a user can scrutinize the data while sharing with service providers depending on her/his requirements. The client-side personalization approach can shift the control of privacy to the users and can involve them in personalization process. In this paper, we have proposed a solution with the objective of scrutable client-side personalization while keeping the user in control of both privacy and personalization. Moreover, the objective is to provide a conceptual layer of privacy enhanced personalization for future mobile services.

In order to meet the growing requirements of users for wireless services in various scenarios, highly densely deployed wireless local area network(WLAN) will be developed. However, due to the limited frequency resources, there must be a large number of wireless access points(APs) in the same channel. But APs which are located in the same channel will interfere with each other, resulting in a decline in the fairness of throughput in the network. And it can not provide users with good quality of service. In order to improve the fairness of throughput and experience of users, it is necessary to formulate the reasonable network parameter adjusting methods. A method based on neural network and genetic algorithm is proposed. The neural network is used to build the relationship between the parameters of WLAN and the fairness of throughput. The trained model is used as the fitness evaluation function of the genetic algorithm. And the genetic algorithm is used to solve the optimization parameter combination configuration to improve the fairness of throughput in WLAN. Simulation results show that the present algorithm can improve the fairness of throughput in the whole network.
