Abstract
The application of next-generation sequencing technologies in the study of genomes of non-model insects is emphasized in this review. The study using appropriate next-generation sequencing methodologies can lead us to innovative discoveries in basic entomology, especially with a focus on the unique nature of non-model insects in the wild environments, which is not available for the model insects.
